3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️. First I want to start off by saying that I love this author and my favorite books by her are Behind Closed Doors and The Breakdown. With that being said, this one was not a hit for me. I was so excited to get an advanced copy and I did read it within 2 days but I just found it to be boring and was dragging out most of the time. I did enjoy the short chapters, which made it easy to fly through. I did not like the main character, Alice, at all. I thought she was very whiny and really annoyed me. As far as the story goes, I figured out who Nina’s killer was halfway through the book. I will say that even though I was correct, there was still a shocker in the ending that I didn’t see coming. The last couple chapters of the book were definitely the best! Not sure I would recommend this one (especially when comparing it to the author’s past books) but if she’s one of your favorite authors then give it a shot...maybe it just wasn’t for me.

Had me from page one. Unusual plot, excellent writing and characters you can really get into. Loved this book and highly recommend it.

B,A Paris does it again. If you are looking for a book that will keep you on your toes, and keep you guessing until the very end- this is the book for you. The Therapist is a fast paced, page turner. Alice and Leo purchase a new home in a safe gated community. Or, so they think. Alice discovers a murder occurred in their new home. Alice starts looking into the case, and discovers so many secrets. Every one in their new neighborhood becomes a suspect. The neighbors are angry this is being brought back up again, however Alice is determined to solve it. Along the way, Alice finds secrets in Leo's life. Lies that can destroy their life together. Will Alice discover the truth? Will the true killer be caught?

This is a must read for all suspense/thriller fans.

I loved Paris’s earlier work and was eager to read this new entry into domestic drama. Alice moves in to a néwhome with her boyfriend Leo. Alice never previewed the home but Leo loved that it was a gated secure community. Except he didn’t tell her that the previous owner, Nina, was supposedly murdered by her loving husband Oliver. Alice is the typical psychological thriller protagonist, always the last to know anything, and when she does, happens not to do anything but worry. Not so much domestic noir, more domestic beige. I was actually enjoying the first third but really tired of Alice thinking over and over that-she-won’t-mention-this-or-that-unti-later so that we have any 30 pages of mental anguish. While waiting for the expected jaw dropping twist, easily seen, I lost interest.

I really enjoyed BA Paris' debut novel, so I'm sad it's taken me until her 5th book to pick up one of her stories again. And luckily this did not disappoint!

This is exactly the kind of entertaining domestic psychological mysteriousness that I have come to associate with BA Paris' storytelling. This particular book is on the slower side - it really isn't until the end that information starts coming together - but the vague nature of the content kept me hooked and guessing along the way. The ‘past’ chapters did a great job at keeping me on my toes.

Overall, this is exactly what I wanted from this story. Next time I won't wait so long to pick up another book by this author!

This was a fun to read mystery. The author keeps the reader page turning with her ongoing suspense leaving the reader trying to figure out the puzzle. This is book which I would recommend to all those who enjoy mystery and suspense.

B.A. Paris is back with a page-turner and by page-turner I mean I fell asleep on my Ipad while reading this. The pages kept going as I was sleeping. It was magic!

I was excited to see that B.A. Paris chose to go back to thrillers. Her last book was a huge disappointment because it was something that I wasn't expecting from her. Well, the main reason was that it just sucked. There's no nice way to put it. So seeing that her new book was going to take us back to her roots, I was like a fiend waiting for her suspenseful fix.

After finishing this, I looked around, my eyes squinty, my shoulders in a shrug, and I said, "What the hell was that? That's it!?" This was a hot mess. Not worth my time because it was very slow-paced, dull, and very predictable. It's almost as if she turned into a normal person. We don't want normal, we want the bizarre author who shocked us and gave us trust issues.

The Therapist was B.A. Paris' ticket out of the hole she fell into with her last novel but this one only seemed to let her sink deeper. The characters were not likable and the story was banal. It wasn't creepy and nothing jumped out enough to make me fully invested. It pains me to say that because her other thrillers were something to brag about. This one just missed its mark completely.

I was totally absorbed in this novel and had no idea despite hair raising clues all along!
This is definitely a ten star book that I read in two days!

Alice, a woman haunted by the death of her sister and parents years ago, moves into an idyllic English neighborhood with her boyfriend. The new house is beautiful, the neighbors are friendly. She never expects to discover that her house's previous resident was murdered there. When she's approached by a private investigator looking into the murder, she gets swept up into the mystery.

When I started reading, I thought I would love this book. The premise is great. However, Alice was a confusing, not altogether believable character for me. She suffers from a traumatic past which might explain away her paranoia and weird relationship quirks - like falling for someone almost immediately whilst being completely paranoid and afraid of her actual boyfriend with whom she shares a home. I did not buy a lot of the decisions she made or how she reacted to most of the situations. I'm being vague because it's difficult not to spoil the plot, but she makes a lot of poor decisions that do not really make a lot of sense.

In addition to the confusing main character, the book was boring. It seemed to be more about the characters getting together to gossip over tea and coffee and descriptions of houses than the actual mystery. If it had focused more on bringing the mystery together, it would have been wonderful. The one chapter toward the end where everything comes together was the best part of the book.

I really enjoy Ms. Paris’s books. While I didn’t feel like I was sitting on the edge of my seat with this one, she throws enough suspicion on so many characters that I found myself second guessing who the murderer was. I wasn’t surprised when the murderer was revealed, but I sure didn’t expect the twist toward the end of the story! Great book!

B.A. Paris has been hit or miss from me in the past and this one was a miss. I didn't quite understand the reasoning behind how obsessed Alice was into the murder of Nina, who's house she now lives in. She is a character meant to be even more unstable than the situation itself but that just makes her seem like another unreliable female with mental health issues.. I thought this one was just ok. On the predictable side but still engaging enough to want to finish and see how it plays out. There was one good twist I didn't see but the bigger one I thought was quite obvious for a while.

I'm going to go ahead and join the echo of readers saying B.A. Paris has done it again. The plot was filled with red herrings, legitimate clues, and countless suspects. There were truly so many pieces to consider that I couldn't put this book down. Even though I figured out some of the twists, there were still a couple of gasp-worthy moments. If you love thrillers, definitely pick this one up.

B. A. Paris is one of my favorite authors. I really tend to enjoy the British psychological thrillers more than the American ones. (This is true for the most part for me, but there are some very good American ones.)

This book did not disappoint and I was guessing right up to the very end. This is a suspenseful and satisfying page turning read. If you were somehow unhappy with her last book, The Dilemma, this one will redeem your favor to read Paris.

Leo and girlfriend Alice move into a house in a gated community known as The Circle. Alice wants so badly to fit in and form friendships with her neighbors, but can't help thinking something is off.

And then, little by little, Alice starts learning things about Leo, the house and the neighborhood.....ansmd the reader learns more about the therapist.

This book is impossible to put down!

Once again, B.A. Paris has written an amazing thriller. I have been a huge fan of her's since her first novel Behind Closed Doors. Although I have loved all of her novels, this one gave me the same sense of excitement and fear as i stayed up way too late reading it and it was done in a day.

Alice and Leo have been dating long distance for about a year and a half before they decide to move in together in London, a compromise for both of them. Leo picks out the house in a gated community and Alice does not see it until she moves in. From the very beginning, she has an off feeling about the house however she loves Leo and wants it to work out..and things are working out until Alice finds out about a murder that took place in her new home and that Leo knew about it and kept it from her. With her trust in him broken, their relationship is on the rocks as Alice decides to try to solve the murder herself since she doesn't believe the real killer was solved.

This book was full of twists and turns and kept me guessing until the end. Every time I thought I had solved it, something else would happen that would make me question everything again.

Alice and her boyfriend have moved into a neighborhood called they circle. Alice is excited and wants to make friends with the neighborhood women. As the characters intermingled you are aware of an underlying sense of secrecy. Alice can feel this and is curious as to what that secret may be. Then she is horrified to discover that the previous owners died in her house. A murder, suicide! She is angry her boyfriend had not informed her of this. As she talks to her neighbors she is uncomfortable with the murder, suicide scenario. Asking questions can get you killed.
I was given this book to read and review by the publisher. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. You don't know where it's going next. I would recommend this.
