It took a lot for Leo to convince his partner, Alice, to leave her little cottage and move with him to the newly renovated home in an exclusive gated community. But Alice agrees, and it is easy for her to fall in love with such a posh home in a neighborhood where the residents are close. But then Alice discovers Leo kept a very big secret from her about their new home. The previous lady of the house was murdered in that house and the husband committed suicide after being accused of her murder. The entire neighborhood was relieved knowing that they solved the murder, but when a private investigator shows up on Alice and Leo's doorstep, Alice believes they were all wrong and the murder is still out there. The more Alice digs, the more she realizes that their new community is full of secrets and some of them may even end up killing her.
I have come to expect big things from B.A. Paris. Her writing pushes boundaries and hooks a reader from the very first page. The Therapist did not leave me feeling hooked. I never got the vibe that Leo and Alice were made for each other. And while I understand Alice's outrage at Leo's secrecy, it also felt forced. Over the top. I wasn't all that surprised by the end. It wasn't what I had guessed, but it didn't really leave me "wowed." - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS
Bottom Line - While The Therapist didn't really live up to my expectations, it was an enjoyable enough read for a summer afternoon.

Thank you to NetGalley for the book in exchange for an honest review.

I adore B.A. Paris, but this was not my favorite of hers.
No one can be trusted, which is always fun, and it doesn't like suspense, it just has aggravating main character and more slower portions than her other books.
I will definitely continue to pick her books up as soon as they come out.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press!

THE THERAPIST is the fourth novel by Paris that I have read and they keep getting better. The way the author constructs this story allows the reader to go on the ride with the characters. The careful revealing of details and psychological tension that builds is addictive. What a book!

I will definitely recommend this book. I'm a fan of B. A. Paris and this book got my stomach clenching!

I really enjoyed this thriller and the interesting ideas of this story. The main character is really easy to connect to and as the reader I found myself really interested in what was happening in the story and loved it.

This was a pain to get through. Painfully predictable and has no character development. The twists I saw coming from a mile off and there was nothing shocking. Just.... a no from me.
Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC of #TheTherapist in exchange for my honest review.

The Therapist was absolutely brilliant! I love a thriller that keeps me guessing and gives me that creepy, unsettled feeling. This book delivered! The extensive cast of characters was easy to follow and the storyline had me pointing a finger at almost all of them. I love myself some neighborhood drama! (Well, maybe not in my own.... haha!)
The Circle is a gated community of exclusive homes, and Alice & her boyfriend Leo are brand new to the neighborhood. As Alice begins to form a connection with her new neighbors she discovers a horrifying secret about the home she and Leo have just moved into. One that has her questioning absolutely everything.
Packed with obsession for the truth, interesting characters and a storyline that will keep you turning pages!

I loved this book. Alice moves into a new neighborhood with Leo and after learning the previous owner of the house was killed in it she begins to question everything. The fact that the previous occupant had the same name as her sister keeps her going in her quest to find out what happened. She begins to suspect everyone , from the neighbors , to leo himself. This is a great thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat

Stand Out Read
I was one of the lucky ones this year to get an arc of this book and I feel that with my delay that I let not only the author down but myself. I am very late on this review and not because it was a bad read it wasn’t. It was amazing. I just have been in such a funk of highs and lows with my reading that many things have been lost in the shuffle that has become my life. That being said let me tell you about the highlights of this book and why it is worth your money, time, and energy. I have been a fan of B.A. Paris ever since I read her debut thriller Behind Closed Doors a few years ago. Seriously, if you want to read an amazing book, I highly recommend that one. As soon as I see she has a new book coming out I immediately add it to my TBR on Goodreads and inhale it in one sitting. This one was no different. I even went as far as to send a copy of this book to my best friend for Christmas.
The story surrounds Alice and her partner Leo who move into a house in The Circle, a gated community in London. As Alice is getting to know her neighbors, she finds out that Leo never told her that the former owner, Nina Maxwell who was a therapist, was murdered in the house and her husband, Oliver, who ended up killing himself, was accused of killing her. What adds fuel to this story is Alice’s past trauma. About twenty years ago Alice’s parents and her sister, Nina, were killed in a car accident and ever since then, whenever Alice meets another Nina, she becomes obsessed with them and their life story. This is the case with Nina Maxwell, and as she digs into Nina’s life, she discovers that Oliver may not have killed her. What is also interesting is that the more time Alice spends in community the more people do not want to talk about Nina or Oliver. They rather believe that Oliver is the killer then trying to wrap their mind around the idea that their perfect gated community is far from perfect. So much so that there might be a killer living amongst them. What I love about this author is her ability to keep me on my toes. Every time I thought I figured out what happened and who actually killed Nina something would be thrown at me to the point I would feel like I am completely wrong. Not one character is safe from your suspicion while you are reading and it’s great. There are a few things in this book that add to the spook factor and mystery. I however do not want to spoil this book for everyone so I will say go figure out if you need The Therapist in your life like I needed it in mine. You will not be disappointed I promise. Thank you Netgalley and all those involved in me receiving this arc.

I loved this book! It's a perfect, fast, enticing read that I would definitely recommend! It will make you question your own sanity at times lol

I listened to The Therapist by B. A. Paris on audiobook. This was very predictably a B. A. Paris book. The storyline seemed rather predictable and overall, while enjoyable was not as thrilling and can't put downable as I was hoping it'd be.

Though this is a definitely a thriller ride, I hard a hard time liking or relating to the main character, Alice. Accusing everyone from the boyfriend to everyone in the gated community. Alice is determined to find out who killed the previous occupant of the house.

This is the third B.A.Paris book that I have read. Sadly, it just didn't meet my expectations of the perfect thriller. The book was very slow paced and the main character, Alice was annoyingly pathetic and the other characters were just as bad.
It just wasn't the book I was looking forward to reading.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital arc.

I have enjoyed B.A. Paris books in the past but honestly I didn't really care for this one. The main character was completely ridiculous. If you think someone is in your house at night wouldn't you get a security camera or something? Like no let's just keep sleeping there 🤦♀️. I couldn't come to like any of the characters or anything. This one is a hot or miss for thriller reads I feel.

I cannot get enough of BA Paris! Excellent thriller as always. If you enjoy small town dramas then this is for you. How would you feel if you moved into a murder house? Your husband knew and with held the information from you until it was too late. Everyone seems to be tip toeing around you.. and there is no where to hide.

I fell in love with B.A. Paris since I read Behind Closed Doors but no other book she's done has impacted me as much as that one. This one I just couldn't get through. I felt it was so boring and confusing and just ugh.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book. The Therapist is the latest psychological suspense thriller from B.A. Paris, with a murder mystery that occurs in a small private housing community. Alice and her boyfriend Leo buy their first-ever house together in an exclusive gated housing estate called The Circle, in Finsbury London. I really could not get into this book so much and put it down several times. I was mildly interested in where the plot was going throughout the book but was definitely not invested.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Another good one by Paris. I really got into the story. There were a couple of weird things (Alice’s obsession with people named Nina, for one). But they weren’t enough to distract from the storyline. Three big twists at the end were enough to turn this 3.5 into a 4!

Is Alice really noticing someone watching her, in her house, leaving calling cards? Or is she just imagining a host of unsettling scenarios after moving into a house where a woman was brutally murdered? An enjoyable and totally bingable domestic thriller, with a whole host of suspects living in a gated community called The Circle. This was great suspenseful thriller!

Thank you Netgalley, St. Martin's Press and B.A. Paris for free e-ARC of The Therapist in return of my honest review.
I have read a few books by B.A. Paris and I always enjoy them. The Therapist was not an exemption. A quick page-turner, a few intriguing twists and turns. The main protagonist is well written and developed. I haven't seen the conclusion coming and it was interesting to be ambushed that way.
Great read if you are looking for a quick intriguing book.
