This was a fun read once I got through the beginning. I did enjoy Harriet and Jansen together. Adrian was a good secondary character though I thought there would be more resolution about his situation.Though it is a series it can be read as a stand alone.
This a wonderful, emotional romance. I liked this book even more than the first story of Riley and Rae. This story is the coming together of two very different and very misunderstood people. Harriet is the town’s “odd” but respected high school librarian and Jensen is the town playboy, jovial and seemingly dim, She cares nothing for other’s opinions and he hides behind that dumb jock persona. Somehow they could me together, uncovering each other’s secrets, but the, town is watching and judging. And Jensen has rules he doesn’t break- - usually.
Wow, what a story. I enjoyed All Night Long with a Cowboy so much, I read it in one night. Jensen is the town's most notorious playboy and Harriet is the crazy cat lady librarian. They both have to issues and have to resolve them before they find happy ever after. Caitlin Crews has a way of making the characters come to life on throughout the story. This story made me laugh, cry and smile. Even though this book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend this book to everyone who like happy ever afters.
I receive an ARC from NetGalley for my honest opinion.
I enjoyed this story of a librarian with quirks and a typical male trying to avoid love. The intertwined plot with the young man who needs a role model and uses Jenson is great. The sex scenes are not overly involved or explained, and some of them are glossed over if you like a lot of detail in that arena. It was nice to have a different type of female character. She was strong in her own, independent way but was not needy. Of course there was a HEA, but it did come as a tell and not show.... but it was nice to wrap it up at the end. I'd read another of this series, as I liked learning about the brothers
Always love the books from this writer! These books are fun summer read and I highly suggest you get through them. Will wait for more books from her.
I liked the character of Harriet, although I couldn't entirely find myself in her. She made it intriguing because of how she didn't fit into the "normal". I found the book itself was a little slow for my tastes and the conflict wasn't as defined as I generally like in books so the climax wasn't that defined either and ended up a bit flat. Because Aidan Hall was the reason Harriet sought out Jensen, I thought he would play a bigger role in the book itself than he did or that there would be some sort of conclusion to his story as well but I liked him as a supporting character.
All night long with a cowboy has Jensen Kitteredge as the cowboy, a happy go lucky, love ‘em and leave them panting type, never wanting a relationship or to settle down. But Jensen is much deeper than people are allowed to see, shaped by tragedy in his past.
Harriett Barnett is the school librarian, known for being ‘odd’ dressing like a much older woman and does not suffer fools with her straight talking.
I felt at times I was in the middle of a Jane Austin book when Harriett was speaking.
These two meet in a bar when Harriet demands that Jensen fulfils a promise to the school and....well to be honest I’m not revealing anymore, what happens, you will be taken on a wonderful journey with these two characters, there is great humour, pathos and a relationship that will lift your heart. I absolutely loved it, a special book with two special characters.
**I received a copy of All Night Long with a Cowboy by Caitlin Crews from St Martin's Press and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions are my own and not solicited in any way.**
All Night Long with a Cowboy by Caitlin Crews is the second book of her Kittredge Ranch series and this is Jensen and Harriet Barnett's story. I really loved this story of redemption for him and discovery for Harriet because in the end they each have to resolve the past to get to a HEA.
I loved Harriet's description as the typical librarian with cats plus loves her knitting and quiet times. I'd give this book more than 5 stars if I could and will wait anxiously for the next book. She goes to the Coyote Bar one night to see if Jensen will take her on a date that she bid on at the auction last winter. She'll be full of fire to convince him to speak to the kids at school and make good on the date. When Jensen gives her a night to remember she knows he's not a typical permanent guy but can she convince the only man she'll love to stay forever?
Jensen is determined not to be happy because of a tragic event of his friend one summer night after a football game. But he loves being the town one-and-done guy and Smoke jumper fire fighter each summer. When he meets Harriet who's feisty and determined Jensen will be intrigued to find out what's underneath the exterior of Miss Harriet Barnett. When they both help a young boy who comes from the wrong family to find a future, they will both discover each other with a possible HEA for both of them.
This is my favorite so far in the series. Who would of thought a librarian could be the one for playboy Jenson. She helps him with the pain in his past. I definitely liked this couple.
Beautiful, bold, and delicious! Caitlin Crews never disappoints.
Jensen Kitteridge, in all his gorgeous laughter, is a wonder to behold. Crews has a way of undoing the fascinating duality of characters and pinpointing exactly what their motivation is in a way that is nothing short of eloquent and certainly without equal. This book made me smile, laugh, and cry. There’s no higher compliment I can give a book, other than to say that its subtle poetic nature is a force to be reckoned with. I found myself gasping with delight, page after page, as Crews’ pen painted scene after scene with the type of glorious description I find to be rare in most books.
Cold River is redolent with natural beauty, to be sure, but it’s people are just as complicated a portrait as the mountains, buried in history and prejudice. Some people might find it hard to stay. But it’s not hard to with Crews pulling back the curtains
Yummmmmm! Jensen is positively swoon-worthy as the town's most notorious playboy - and he revels in his playboy reputation. Then one day, Harriet, the crazy cat lady librarian, turns his world upside down and things never look the same again, even though he'd tell anyone that asked that wasn't the case.
Sexy and smart, this is a delightful book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the characters and how they chafed against the pigeon holed stereotypes the town had placed them in, yet remained afraid to change them. The way they grew over the course of the novel made me feel engaged their story and in their getting a HEA ending.
If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. The author has a way of making the characters come to life on the page so that you feel like you're right there with them, experiencing their story. She is on my must read authors' list.
Three and a half stars.
Jensen Kittredge, second son, part-time fire-jumper and full-time casanova and fun-time guy. Jensen doesn't do relationships, he doesn't do serious and he never lets anyone see the real him. What no-one realises is that this is self-imposed penance for something that happened when he was eighteen years old.
Harriet Barnett moved to Cold River three years ago. She knows everyone else thinks she's a bit odd, cat-lady, librarian, old-lady dress sense, she just doesn't care very much, she's happy with her books and her knitting and her cats. But when one of her group of Summer School delinquents sneers at her attempts to bring in inspirational speakers to motivate them to do better, and suggests the only person worth listening to is Jensen Kittredge, Harriet is determined to get Jensen to speak to them. Even if it means confronting him in the den of iniquity bar he frequents on a Saturday night.
Jensen can't believe it when his night of whisky and loose women is interrupted by a diminutive woman, dressed like an old maid, clasping her giant handbag like a comfort blanket. She doesn't seem to be put off by any of his tried and trusted stratagems for shaking off women and his overt sexual innuendos seem to bounce off her.
This is a classic opposites attract romance, the bad boy and the librarian, the casanova and the virgin. I really enjoyed it, but it didn't have the emotional heft for me of the first book - although so many other readers didn't like the book. Also, Cold River seems to be populated by men who are all atoning for some deep dark secret from their pasts - must be a dreadful place to grow up LOL.
I am really holding out for Jensen's brother Zack's story, the buttoned-up oldest son who is the only male member of the family ever to get a job away from the Kittredge Ranch.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest opinion.
All Night Long with a Cowboy, published by St. Martin's Press, by C. Crews is book two in her Kittredge Ranch Series.
Jensen Kittredge is a man you can eiter love or not. There is nothing in between. He works hard at the family ranch, plays harder.
Harriet is the towns librarian, she seems like an spinster, but under the weird wardrobe beats a hard of gold, pure gold.
Why and esp. how she fell for the badguy, I have no clue, but the story is well written, entertaining and suspenseful.
