The blurb of this one was appealing. Unfortunately, the characters weren't for me. I believed the attraction between them, and I believed they would have a fling...but I didn't believe that they were going to be a long term couple.
I am unable to recommend this title.
A librarian and a cowboy seem to be an awesome pair, but probably not. 😅
Jensen is a popular cowboy because he has a reputation for being a playboy. Well, his charms work well with all the girls, except the conservative librarian, Harriett.
I enjoyed the banter between these two and how they cooperate at the end to inspire a kid's life.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the ARC!
Cowboy romance is my absolute favorite, and this one didn’t let me down. Overall a great read with strong characters and good world building.
All Night with a Cowboy was a great read that was hard to put down. Harriet was fun to get to know. She’s an oddball that embraces her oddities and is comfortable in her own skin. I’m over books where women go stupid over a cute man. This book gives the complete opposite. Although Harriet has her moments of fluster, she holds her own and doesn’t immediately lay herself at Jensen’s feet. This was very refreshing.
This was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed this story, the characters and the plot. I love romancews where the librarian meets the town playboy and they bicker and flirt and he sees that she is hot. The author did a great job with the story here and characters and I loved this story so much. I don't want to say too much about the plot because it has some surprises along the way that made thi story such a surprising hit for me.
All Night Long with a Cowboy by Caitlin Crews
Subgenre: contemporary western romance
Release date: 24 Aug 2021
Publisher: St Martin’s
Format: ebook and print
Length: 363 pages
RRP: $8.20 (ebook); $19.45 (print)
Jensen Kittredge has been found out. His exterior is meant to show he is lazy and a risk taker. He is a fire jumper, one who jumps into the wildfires, taking lots of risks with his life. He really enjoys sex. He doesn’t like long relationships. Then Harriet Barnett turns up. She won him in a raffle at the Harvest Gala. And Jensen is intrigued by the straight-laced school teacher turning up in the bar where he is usually stationed. However, Harriet wants Jensen for a different purpose.
Jensen doesn’t want to talk to a bunch of teenagers, but Harriet makes it seem like an interesting prospect. He does as she asks and then turns up at her home and finds the stereotypical cat lady. They spend the night and Jensen wants more one nights with her. But no relationship. It is when his family become involved, and his reluctance to leave Harriet alone, that things seem to escalate when she goes home to her parents for thinking time.
Harriet has always been her own woman. She is very stubborn according to her parents and they just let her do what she needed to do, but must have had a reason behind it. Harriet has always seen herself as odd. When she starts seeing Jensen, then has that important talk with her parents, she realises that she isn’t as odd as she thinks, and then softens as she understands more about herself.
The reader still gets to glimpse other members of the Kittredge family and I suspect there are still some family secrets to be revealed in future stories. And while it seems that Jensen and Harriet seem like such opposites, particularly in appearance and attitude to relationships, they are suited. Another great read in this series by Ms Crews.

A really enjoyable book. I liked how Harriet was a different sort of heroine, and how her non-BS approach led to conversations with some depth between the main characters.
I love this series from Caitlin Crews! The opposites attract trope is one of my favorites. And I love any story with a librarian that falls for the bad boy! All Night Long with a Cowboy was a steamy and fun romp!
If you play with fire…
One of the most notorious cowboys in Cold River, Jensen Kittredge always has willing women with sweet smiles vying for a place in his bed. So when the prissy high school librarian sidles up to him in the most disreputable bar in town with a scowl on her face, he has no idea what to make of it. Much less the attraction he feels toward the bespectacled creature who wants something from him… but not that. Yet.
Someone gets burned…
Harriett Barnett doesn’t care for dens of iniquity— or the insolent cowboy she certainly shouldn’t find attractive. But one of her students needs her help, and if she needs to corral the infamous Jensen to save him, she will. Trouble is, the town’s favorite Kittredge brother is a lot more than she bargained for. Harriett's happy little life is orderly and neat, just how she likes it—until Jensen blows it all apart with his particular brand of addictive passion. Can a modern-day schoolmarm really tame the wildest cowboy in town? Or is Harriet headed for a terrible fall?
Loved this story! She is an odd gal that walks to her own drummer. He is a stud muffin with no substance. But love at first sight hits them and changes them so much. Self discovery is eye opener too. Loved the characters and their interactions. It was a great escape read.
ALL NIGHT LONG WITH A COWBOY - Caitlin Crews
#2 in the Kittredge Ranch romance series
HOT! - 4 stars
Plot - 4 stars - When Harriet seeks out Jensen Kittredge in the Coyote Bar, she is totally out of her element. But she is determined to help her problem students with their summer school program, and Jensen is the key.
Writing - 4 stars - I didn't particularly care for the first book in this series, but Crews totally drew me in to this book despite my initial misgivings. She writes so comfortably that I couldn't help but get involved with these characters from the first page.
Characters - 4.5 stars - This is where the story shone for me. Jensen is a larger-than-life cowboy, and I could totally picture him because of the picture that Crews drew of him. He is sharp and intelligent, but he hides it under his good-old-boy persona. Harriet has seen through him from the beginning, though, and recognizes his vulnerability. She also hides herself, by dressing and acting with her starchy librarian look. She is very intelligent and caring, but she is inept socially, so she keeps to herself, for the most part, despite secretly yearning for more from life.
Title - 4 stars - First of all, romance readers recognize that "all night long" defines a romance, so we know what to expect. But what is different about this title is that it's foreign to Jensen, and if/when he stays all night long with Harriet, that will be close to a commitment between him.
Cover - 4 stars - A nice cover showing a handsome cowboy, but not particularly stressing the naked abs and pecs like typical romances do. Fairly ordinary cover, but the lighting is nice and captures the attention.
Overall - 4 stars - All in all, I very much enjoyed this book. I totally enjoyed the original series, and this spinoff series is now following in the same footsteps. I totally loved the characters in this book and enjoyed getting to know them better. (And it's always great to revisit with characters from previous books.) These particular characters were interesting since they showed one face to the public and only shared their worries and fears with each other. It was nice to be able to see both sides of them, feeling like we were getting to know them inside and out.
An excellent book from Caitlin Crews! I always enjoy going back to Cold River and Jensen and Harriet's story is my favorite in the series so far.
Jensen was so much more than his family and the town gave him credit for, and for a long time that was enough for him. Harriet is a school librarian and leads a fairly solitary life. Despite their differences something wonderful grows between them as they spend time together as the summer progesses. They had a real connection and it was evident from their first meeting that there was something there between them.
I liked how straightforward Harriet was and that she didn't feel the need to change the core of who she was. She certainly experiences growth, but it's not because of some makeover to get Jensen's attention.
The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I was hooked from their very first meeting.
This is one of my favorite books I've read this year, and I can't wait for the next book on the series. There are so many secondary characters that I hope get their own book!
I loved this story. It is the kind that you can identify with the characters and immerse yourself in the story. Very beautifully written and characters to win the heart make this book a must read.
A book that begs to be read. It is well written and will have you passing time quickly.
Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
This is not your typical romance as Jensen and Harriet were unlike any characters I have read before. Jensen is a bit more like I have read but still has a public mask that he wears and not many can see underneath that mask to who he really is.
Harriet is an odd heroine, and she readily admits that she has always felt like the odd man out (or woman!). She is very much the cat lady and definitely does not dress to impress anyone but for comfort and for practicality. There is no changing of her persona or outward appearance so that is kind of refreshing! She readily accepts Jensen as he is until she can't.
A long part of the book is them interacting and learning to understand each other, and Jensen moving beyond the selfish clown that he portrays.
Some sad parts, but mostly you just can't wait for them to realize that they can have their HEA! I am hoping in future books that Jensen's siblings will see that he does contribute majorly to the ranch and quit assuming that he does nothing!!
I really enjoyed this story it was exactly what cowboys are about. It is a new author for me ane I liked her writing.
Two people who couldn't be more different but end up together.
Jensen is one of the most notorious cowboy in Cold River; that man who can have a different woman every night, but who also hides very noisy internal ghosts.
And then, we know the High School librarian, Miss Harriet Barnett, who has just arrived in town, who dresses like an old woman, and despite her short stature, doesn't bow her head to anyone.
Jensen would never be the kind of man Harriet would give her heart to, but in fact, she needs him for a rescue mission.
And while the two deal with the action itself, their hearts try to show to them - two stubborn - that it's worth taking a chance on new feelings.
4 stars
So I do like a bad boy and a good girl when it comes to romance as well as a meddling small town, but the heroine of this is just written so weirdly that it drove me mad. I was wondering for a while if it was an attempt at a neurodiverse heroine, but as it went on without it being mentioned I gave up on that idea. It’s just so stilted and unbelievable. Hey ho, never mind - at least it ticked a state off my 50 states challenge.
This isn't the first Caitlin Crews book I have read, but it is my current favorite. The cover catches your attention, but writing style inside can't be beat. I love an author that can make you laugh or cry. Caitlin does these stories justice. She writes great characters filled with their own traits and foibles. A great read!
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley for my voluntary, honest review
This is book 2 in the Kittredge Ranch series. Harriett has a nice orderly life as a teacher. That is until she meets Jensen. She needs his help with a student, but will he blow up her nice orderly world while he helps?
Harriet, the town librarian and Jensen the town flirt couldn't be more opposite if you tried. If their friends and family were betting folks this is one bet that no one would take but stranger things have happened than this one.
This is one of my favorite books by the author.
The story just sucks you in from the time Harriet meets Jensen in the coffee shop and makes her request to have him come and speak to her class of summer schoolboys and Jensen despite all his mental conversation to the contrary shows up. The banter between the two of them will keep you on your chuckling. In perfect contrast are the emotional moments when Harriet discusses her upbringing and you get to see beneath Jensen's happy face to see who he really is.
You really get to experience Jensen's mettle when he takes on the troubled teenage boy as mentee and really delivers. This is a quite understated story that delivers a strong punch.
