This was such a wonderful story. Caitlin Crews has done it again. These characters practically leap off the page. Reading the story of how these 2 main characters; Harriet Barnett and Jensen Kittredge, found each other, was so heartwarming. This is a well-written story that keeps the reader engaged and routing for a HEA for the main characters. I love seeing the little tidbits about earlier couples in these later installments in the series'.
Harriet and Jensen have both been misunderstood by the majority of their peers for most of their lives; is it any wonder that they find each other in the small town of Cold River? Harriet Barnett, the high school librarian is a quirky, lovable character; who is unapologetically herself and doesn't try to conform to the rest of the world's ideals. She grew up with scholarly older parents that always seemed surprised that they had a child. She speaks her mind and doesn't tolerate ambiguity. Jensen Kittredge has always played the clown and sees no reason to show the town, or even his family, any other side of himself. Jensen suffered a tragedy in his senior year of high school and that has shaped his outlook and actions for over a decade and he doesn't see any reason to change that behavior until he sees the school librarian in the "seedier" bar; the Coyote, in Cold River. Even then he denies it to himself and anyone else who would care to listen. Add into this mix, a 16-year-old boy that wants a different life from the one he was born into and Harriet and Jensen form a sort of pact to help the young man rise out of the sad state of his life and look toward a brighter future. Will Jensen and Harriet do the same for themselves?
This is the 2nd book in the Kittridge Ranch series. Can definitely be read as a stand alone.
I actually had a tough time enjoying this story. While the storyline was fine it just didn’t make me feel a part of it. I will not give up on this series, hoping the next one pulls me in.
Harriet is the school librarian and dresses like it. Jenson is a notorious playboy and Harriet arrives at his ranch one day and demands he donates some of his time to become a mentor to one of her students. Jenson is shamed into agreeing and so begins a very interesting and slow burn between the 2 of them.
Hot in places, charming in places, and just generally all round sweet story. Really enjoyed it.
Readers looking for a sexy cowboy, a snippy yet down-to-earth lady, a kid who needs help, past guilt and doubts, a sweet and very sexy romance, emotion, and some intrigue will find this and more in ALL NIGHT LONG WITH A COWBOY. Enjoy the ride!

It has been some time since I have read a Crews novel and I was not disappointed. I loved the sass of Harriett and paired with Jensen was intense to say the least. There was great push and pull and I really enjoyed the build and development of the characters!
I love opposites attract and this one was wonderful. I loved Jensen and Harriett! This was such a good story, I read it in one day! I definitely recommend it.
I would have found it impossible not to fall in love with Jensen and Harriett, but then I wouldn’t expect any less from Caitlyn Crews. I first read one of her books through Netgalley and I have been a fan ever since, so when I saw this book offered on Netgalley as an ARC, I knew I had to request it. It was outstanding, as usual.
Jensen Kittridge and Harriet Barnett are complex and relatable characters. In the hands of another writer, they might come across as caricatures of real people—the laid-back, good-natured cowboy/playboy and the prissy, proper librarian. But neither are quite what they seem. Jensen is committed to his role as town clown, always ready with a joke and a laugh, pretending to be dumb. Harriet immediately sees through his act, but it’s not until he confides in her the reason for it that we realize how damaged he is from a traumatic event when he was a teen. Meanwhile, Harriet dresses in frumpy, comfortable clothing and doesn’t have a care for what anyone thinks of her—until she realizes that they feel pity because they think that she has a crush on Jensen. When she realizes this, she is incensed and suggests that maybe he is the one who has a crush on her (not suspecting that he actually does).
One of the things I liked about the two of these characters was their intuitive ability to read one another. Jensen recognizes the physical reactions in Harriet that reveal her interest in him (“...he had made a study of female arousal. Because Jensen liked a party, but he first liked to be invited to attend.”), while she recognizes the behavioral signs that he wants something more with her than he is prepared to admit.
I also love how Jensen is always described in physical terms that convey his utter relaxation, even though it is an affectation to disguise his actual feelings. He is constantly propped against a wall, tipped back in a chair, or drawling his responses to questions. Early on, this encounter goes a long way toward describing their interactions: “...she held his gaze with an uncomfortable directness that might have made him sit up and take notice if he hadn't been so deeply committed to the lazy way he was currently lounging there.” Later, she sees him in the local coffee shop, kicking back on a sofa against the far wall and “he looked as if it was possible he didn’t actually possess a spine, so committed was he to his boneless lounging.”
Harriet, although comfortable with herself and unconcerned with social isolation, nevertheless feels awkward when forced to socialize with her peers. When approached by several of the local women who seem to want to get to know her better, her response is priceless: “I’m not good with people,” Harriet announced baldly. “I honestly can’t tell if this is an attempt to befriend me or if it’s the opening scene in one of those horrific teen films where everybody knows what’s going on except me until endless humiliations ensue. I’d really prefer it if you could be up front.” Later, while giving her phone number to one of her new friends, she feels she must sound like “a robot impersonating a human.”
One of the most endearing things about Harriet is her ability to cut to the heart of an issue and clearly see what is going on. She is guileless and honest to a fault. She understands Jensen in a way he can’t understand himself, and unfortunately, is not ready to understand himself. She also understands “the rules” if she wants him to stick around. But I was especially touched by her sudden and unavoidable understanding of the nature of love and heartbreak:
“She’d always thought that heartache came later. The period at the end of a sentence she’d never uttered. It had never occurred to her that really, heartache was an echo. Because first there was this.
“This ache. This stunning knowledge that something she’d never expected to happen to her, could. So easily and so smoothly it was like surfacing from the water and lifting her face to the sun.”
The story is richly layered and profoundly touching. These are real people with real feelings, struggling to find their way to someone who will understand them, who will love them, despite their failings. It begins with an unlikely friendship and develops into a lasting love and it’s inspiring.
Another great book in this series of the Kittredge brothers, this one featuring Jensen, and his opposite in every way, Harriett. I love how Ms Crews sets the scene from the first page and builds from there. We are pulled into the story so quickly, and then pulled along as it rapidly develops. The characters are also well developed—Jensen is the town golden boy, a happy-go-lucky player, with a hidden dark side. Harriett is the quirky high school librarian—almost a caricature of the stereotype. And yet she’s got a heart of gold, is truly her own person, and doesn’t care what others think. She’s an amazingly refreshing character in this book. The dialog and banter of these two as they battled wits was so fun to read, and really added tot he story. The story built nicely and was really well-paced. It’s a great book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my freely given, honest review.
This book was enjoyable but it wasn’t anything too exciting. Jensen was the misunderstood playboy and Harriett was the stereotypical high school librarian. I felt that Harriett was just too stubborn and long-winded at times and I would have liked to have seen more of the serious Jensen that was shown at the end of the book. There also just wasn’t really a climax to the story. It kind of stayed even keel throughout. I would have liked to have seen a bit more drama. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable cowboy romance.
*I received an arc for an honest review*
A womanizer cowboy and a prissy set in her ways librarian, how could this not be fun!
Harriet is the high school librarian working with students in a summer program. To try to reach them on their level, Harriet reaches out to Jensen to ask him to talk to her students since he spends his summers fighting fires and works on the Kittredge Ranch. Jensen is intrigued by Harriet since she doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks of her and can hold her own with anyone she stares down.
Their relationship was slow and unlikely since they both had to breakout of the boxes that others insisted they belonged in. This is an entertaining read full of love, passion, self-discovery and of course steam with some great characters. I look forward to the next story in the series!
Yay, the next story in Cold River about the next Kittredge brother. Yep, the brothers of Amanda (from The Last Real Cowboy). After Riley (Secret Nights with a Cowboy), we now move on to Jensen. Jensen has always been the jokester of the family. It has been his way to defuse the tense situations at home, especially after their mother left them. And now, everybody sees him as the bad boy and jokester, who doesn't take anything seriously. And we have Harriett, who takes everything very seriously. In an effort to help one of her students, she reaches out to Jensen. And she doesn't take no for an answer. Jensen really doesn't know what to do about Harriett: she seems immune for his charmes and she makes him feel things, he never felt before. Maybe even felt taken seriously... A wonderful and cute story, where there is so much more to people than meets the eye. Wonderfully written Caitlin! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
All Night Long with a Cowboy is a fantastic read. I love how different Harriet is from Jenson. This is one of those opposite attract reads that will suck you right in. The brain and the brawns that is what you get when it comes to Harriet and Jenson. Harriet is just wonderful. Her whit will keep you on your toes.
This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you
I always love a good cowboy story and I sure love Caitlyn Crews writing. So when I was able to read an ARC of ‘All Night Long With A Cowboy’, I got super excited. After reading the first book in the Kittredge Ranch series, ‘Secret Nights With A Cowboy’, I was definitely curious to read this second book and started reading as soon as I could.
In ‘All Night Long With A Cowboy’ we read the story of Jensen Kittredge, a notorious cowboy who is known for being a womanizer. So when Jensen meets Harriett Barnett, a high school librarian no one things much about it. But there is something about Harriett that makes Jensen fascinated.
From the moment I started reading I was definitely fascinated with Jensen and Harriett’s story. These two characters couldn’t be more different, but I loved them. Jensen seemed to be this arrogant playboy to the outside world but we soon see there’s much more to him. And Harriett is a quiet librarian who’s life changes the moment she meets Jensen in a bar.
I must admit that I found Harriett’s character a bit hard to love at times. I can’t even really explain why to be honest. She was this kind of character I should love. A librarian, strong willed, not easily persuaded by men.. But still she had something about her I didn’t love as much. Luckily for me, Jensen’s character definitely made up for that. Boy did I love his character. And the interactions between Jensen and Harriett where definitely fun. Although I didn’t feel their chemistry as much at first.. I definitely did in the end
‘All Night Long With A Cowboy’ was definitely a story I enjoyed. And I look forward to reading more books in this series.
All Night Long with a Cowboy is Book 2 of the Kittredge Ranch series by Caitlin Crews and stands perfectly fine on its own. It was great visiting Cold River again. Wonderful character development, an engaging storyline and the right mix of slow burn/steam kept me involved throughout. Overall this was a very enjoyable story.
OMG, what is it about Kittredge men that exasperates me, but leaves me swoony and love-drunk? This was one of those books that I didn't know if I wanted to read or not. After reading the previous book, I was hesitant to start this one. That book was a mess of emotions for me and I didn't know if I could take immersing myself with these men again. Thankfully, I went ahead and dived into Jensen's story...only to once again experience a roller coaster of emotions and loving it!.
I loved Jensen. He was charming and handsome and funny and an overall good guy. But he wasn't a man you wanted to get your heart tangled with. He lived his life going through the motions, with a practiced smile and a devil-may-care personality that was only meant to keep a distance between him and emotional entanglements. The man didn't allow himself to form connections, especially with the opposite sex. So when he found himself drawn to the town's high school librarian--a plain Jane--he's dumbfounded and unable to figure out how to get rid of the these feelings towards her. Especially when he tried all the tricks in his book to avoid it.
I loved Jensen's fall and this journey to not only finding himself but finding a way to live a full life. I enjoyed the author's way of bringing these two together in a way that was viable. I liked watching as their connection settled and grew with their every encounter and how their chemistry and attraction, although apparent from the very start, led to something more powerful than they expected. Of course, there were some cliche moments but the author made a great effort in bringing a mix of elements that kept me invested in the story.
All in all, an emotional yet steamy read.
Book 2 in this series.
This contemporary western novel is a great addition to "romance." It has wonderful characters, a great storyline and a beautiful HEA ending. This book tells the story of Harriet, a high school librarian, and Jensen, a cowboy rancher with a playboy attitude. Their meeting is hilarious and their following interactions are chuckle-worthy. Each undergo radical changes as they navigate their emotional connections, to themselves and each other. There are bedroom scenes; however, this author has written emotional, beautiful and swoonworthy encounters that are both sweet and powerful. In short, I loved it!
5 stars
I’m always here for a cowboy story in a small town and I loved this synopsis.
I really enjoyed Harriett and Jensen. They seem so different, but they’re more alike than they realize. She’s straight laced and he’s laid back and the button pushing was some of the best. There’s a good amount of characters here and I liked all of them.
Plot wise, it was good. There’s a slow build to a mildly angsty scene with a quick resolution. I liked the honest conversations and the sweet talk and the flirting. Yes, I would have liked to see a little more growth of the relationship (her ILY felt crazy early to me), but the epilogue made it easy to overlook.
Overall, this was a great start of a series for me and I’m definitely going to go back and read book one.
**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**
4.5 Stars
Caitlin Crews knocks it out of the park with a sensuous, emotional and delicious contemporary romance, All Night Long with a Cowboy.
Charismatic, charming and as handsome as sin, cowboy Jensen Kittredge is used to women falling at his feet. Jensen is certainly never short of admirers and he doesn’t have to work too hard to find somebody willing to share his bed. His reputation as a skilled lover is certainly well earned, so he is surprised when the bespectacled town librarian sidles up to him in one of the town’s most disreputable bars with a scowl on her face and a bone to pick with him! This is not the sort of reaction Jensen gets from the opposite sex, but even more troubling is the fact that Jensen finds himself irresistibly drawn to Harriet Barnett!
Harriet is more likely to be found with her nose in a book than in a seedy bar talking to sexy cowboys, but when one of her students asked for her help, she vowed to do whatever it takes to help them out – even if it means getting far too close to Jensen Kittredge! Harriet is used to a quiet, uneventful and orderly life, but when she begins to spend more and more time with the drop dead gorgeous cowboy, the town librarian’s inhibitions begin to slowly crumble as she begins to take a walk on the wild side with a man she simply cannot get enough of!
As temptation becomes absolutely impossible to resist, Jensen and Harriet’s attraction quickly gives way to something far deeper than either one of them imagined, but with the two of them being polar opposites, is a future possible? Or will heartbreak be the only thing Jensen and Harriet will have to look forward to?
Heart-melting contemporary romance does not get any better than Caitlin Crews’ All Night Long with a Cowboy. Effortlessly mixing humor, warmth, pathos, heart and red-hot passion, All Night Long with a Cowboy is an enjoyable and entertaining romance about two polar opposites who soon realize they’ve got a lot more in common than they initially thought.
Readers will be completely charmed by Jensen and Harriet’s love story and their sparkling dialogue, witty banter and off the charts chemistry will certainly keep them engrossed and turning the pages late into the night.
Caitlin Crews can always be relied on to deliver a first rate contemporary romance and with All Night Long with a Cowboy, she has once again penned a fantastic tale readers are going to fall head over heels in love with.
Harriet and Jensen are like oil and water. There is no way uptight Harriett would have an interest in someone like Jensen. SHe does need him for a project at the library to help with troubled teens. THe two of them together decide to work together even though it is very awkward, until it is no longer awkward.
This book was a fun read. I thought overall the story was good and except for some slow areas it flowed well.
