All Night Long with a Cowboy is the second novel in Caitlin Crews' Kittredge Ranch series. This is the story of Jensen Kittridge, a huge ladies man, and Harriet Barnett, the town librarian, a title she fits perfectly. These two are a very unlikely pair as they could not be more opposite, but somehow they work quite well together and this book follows their adventures in falling in love. One bonus to reading a series is that you get to follow previous characters through their ongoing experiences, something I really enjoy and you will definitely recognize the supporting cast in this book.
🤠 I don’t know about you, but I often find myself reading more contemporary romance in the summer months, and one of the titles I picked up this summer was 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝗪𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐀 𝐂𝐎𝗪𝐁𝐎𝐘 by Kaitlin Crews.

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐰𝐛𝐨𝐲 is a heartwarming tale that takes you into the lives of Jensen Kittredge, the rugged, playboy rancher/part-time smokejumper, and the straitlaced, cardigan-wearing librarian, Harriett Barnett, who in the process of working together to help some of the struggling teens in the community also end up helping each other.
I enjoyed this sweet, steamy, engaging read by Crews that had a touch of self-discovery, a lot of heat, and an abundance of heart!
This is my first book by this author, and I absolutely loved it! Despite it being the second book in the series, only makes me want to go back and pick up the first book and look forward to the next.
I really liked how the town bad boy love 'em and leave 'em Jensen Kittredge got knocked down and turned every which way by a dowdy no-nonsense tell it the way it is librarian Harriet Barnett.
Harriet was an interesting protagonist that didn't care what people thought of her, wasn't all that concerned with dressing to impress, and kept company with five cats. She didn't much care for the often-repeated "you're a newcomer" after living in Cold River for three years. I found it refreshing that she confounded the infamous Jensen, who is used to females throwing themselves at him.
Jensen covers his emotions with laughs and snark, allowing everyone to believe he's still the dumb jock from high school. He gives the impression that he's living his dream life when he's actually trying to bury ghosts. Jensen is one of four brothers and a sister, whose ranch breeds quarter horses.
When Jensen is approached by Harriet in his favorite watering hole to inform him that she won a date with him from a raffle, Jensen has it all wrong. Harriet reminds him that he owes a favor. Jensen is about to learn that Harriet doesn't give up easily when after getting the brushoff, Harriet shows up at the ranch.
Aidan Hall, a sixteen-year-old with a chip on his shoulder, is one of a small group of teens having to attend Summer school. He has all kinds of labels that have been given to him because of the family he is from. When Harriet tells her students she's there for them to help in any way, Aidan takes it to hear,t and to get attention, he gets himself arrested believing he can get emancipated.
Aidan soon becomes the catalyst to bring Jensen and Harriet together overseeing his community service. Jensen's love 'em and leave 'em might have a slight hiccup where Harriet is concerned. He's soon breaking his own rules but when one rule is not negotiable Harriet realizes what she must do.
This is a sweet story of a dowdy prissy librarian who has the town hunk tied up in knots with tons of humor. No one has gotten Jensen to put a ring on it, and with Harriet, maybe he's met his match.
I received an ARC from NetGalley via St. Martin's Press and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.
This is the first book I've read of this author, Caitlin Crews, and I really enjoyed her style in this particular genre..romance and cowboys!! I was unaware it was the 2nd in a series, but I don't feel I lost a thing by not reading #1 (altho now I'll go back to it) as this book can definitely be stand-alone. Both the physical and character descriptions of Jensen Kittredge had my heart beating quicker and just loved the way the author worked his laid-back attitude towards women into a full-scale plunge he wasn't expecting. The character of Harriett Barnett was just the upheaval Jensen needed, as her spunkiness and self-described "oddness" made her unique from anyone he had ever dealt with. Harriett's upbringing made her the perfect librarian at the local high school, and while she felt that was the life she was meant to have, her interactions with Jensen soon showed her otherwise. I enjoyed the fact that this wasn't just about romance, but also about characters who had some self-identity issues and preconceived ideas of their role in life which they had to battle. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this advance reader copy. #NetGalley #AllNightLongWithACowboy
All Night Long with a Cowboy by Caitlan Crews was an excellent story. This was Jensen and Harriet’s story and these two were so opposites that it is a wonder that they got together. Harriet is a librarian in a small town and has an oddness about her. Jensen is the town flirt and a bachelor. Their story was so engaging that I read this book in two days. It was well written a had hot scenes, laughter, tears, and guilt. I loved this book and gave it a high ranking. I recommend it!
Thanks you NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
It took a bit for me to get into, but the ending made it worth it. I didn't like either of the characters at first, but once they got together it got better.
ARC for honest review with no compensation Received from NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press
All Night Long with a Cowboy is book 2 in the Kittredge Ranch series by Caitlin Crews, next up is Jensen.
Jensen Kittredge is the town flirt or so he wants all to believe meets Harriett Barnett, the school librarian at the town bar…something in the air changes…
Harriett needs help with one of her students and Jensen is the only one who can help her save the boy. What she doesn’t expect is for Jensen to test all her values in the process…what happens next…keep reading to find out if the schoolmarm can tame the town flirt or will he corrupt the librarian??
I started this book, and really struggled to get into it. Somewhere around chapter 3 I got bored and actually put it down and read another book. I picked this one back up, and in the middle of chapter 4, I still couldn't get into it. I was going to skim it, but then I just jumped to the last 2 chapters. It was definitely better in those 2 chapters, enough that it made me go back to read more. Then at about the halfway mark, I stopped, read another book, then came back. I normally don't feel so compelled to put this much effort into finishing a book, but for whatever reason I did. The first sex scene was pretty impressive. Not overly graphic, but more poignant, more meaningful to them as a couple then just writing about the act. I did find it interesting that I don't recall any swearing, yet there was plenty of sex, so you can't classify it as clean. I ended up enjoying it more than I expected, the ending was really sweet. It was worth powering through. Maybe it was just me, hopefully, no one else struggles to get into it like I did
I have to admit, I .almost didn't finish this book. I had a hard time with the slow start.. I'm glad I stuck with it because I enjoyed Harriet and Jensen's story. Crews writes with a distinct voice often reminiscent of times long gone, like Austin and Brontë, but it fits our school librarian and book nerd. Also almost a throwback is the slow burn. There is lots of delicious character build up before are get to the sexy parts.
Harriet and Jensen are so different than their labels. Harriet is more of what people expect. She's bookish and awkward but she may be the most guilty of selling herself short. Maybe she's not odd as she thinks. She sure makes friends quickly with Jensen's sister-in-law and her pals. Jensen has played a roll for all to see that minimizes his actual soul, intelligence and character. Our little librarian see through his act very quickly. She's likes his real self considerably better than the facade. Once they finally get together, they're great sexually.it takes some time to get the relationship part down and there's lots of story there. Adrian, the troubled high school student, adds depth and gives us some great insight to both our leads.
I enjoyed my fist foray into a Crew's novel.
Thanks to St. Martins Paperbacks and NetGalley for the ARC.
The Kittredge Ranch series has quickly become one of my top series & this one might be my favorite. Jensen Kittredge appears happy go lucky on the outside & seems to just glide through life. He doesn't date (just hooks up), does smoke jumping in the summers, & just seems to want to make people at ease. This summer he is at the ranch to help out after his dad's heart episode. Harriet is the high school librarian that looks the part of the stereotypical single librarian right down to the multiple cats. I love Harriet. She's feisty, independent, honest to a fault, & has no filter. She has to approach Jensen because she won a "date" with a firefighter at an auction that had to back out & she chose Jensen to replace him to speak at her summer school class because a student asked specifically for him. It is so worth your time to see how this story unfolds. Highly recommend this book (& all the other Kittredge Ranch novels)!
This story deserves every great review it's received.
Caitlin Crews is one of the great queen's of cowboy stories.
Lili and Levi are fantastic! The story is great, the action is great, the world created is fantastic.
Honestly, don't pass by this one!
I loved this book! You know when you start reading the first few pages at the beginning of a book and it has you completely sucked in, it’s going to be a great ride. This story had me laughing throughout most of it, then a quick dose of reality in the end, and I loved every minute of it. Harriet with all her “oddity” had me in stitches, and Jensen with his protected hotness had me wanting more with each turning of the page. When these two finally get together it jumps right off the page at you, and man, it’s hot. Your heart goes out to Aiden and his life, but what Harriet does with him and Jensen is truly heartwarming. This is a very well written book that keeps the reader very engaged throughout the story. Very much looking forward to more from this author.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
I was intrigued by the premise of this story....at least the part about Harriet being a librarian in a high school. Unfortunately, I found this to be too wordy with too much explanation when a sentence would do. There isn't any romance to hook you at the beginning and I wouldn't call this a slow burn either. I think it's too methodical and formulated.
Harriet isn’t concerned about what other people think about her she has her cats for company, she has her students, and she enjoys her job as the school librarian. She is selfless when it comes to others so when her students want to hear from a person they can relate to she is determined to convince Jensen that he is the man for the job.
Jensen has an adventurous personality and has a reputation with the ladies but never for more than one night. He is the last person who should be giving other advice on how to live their lives but there is something about the prim and proper librarian that he can’t say no to.
Harriet is the one person who sees behind the image that Jensen presents to everyone while Jensen sees the captivating woman that no one else sees. Although their journey wasn’t easy there is no denying that they are what the other needs in their life.
Grump and Sunshine But With a Twist!
Harriett knows she’s always serious and often a bit odd but she’s completely okay with that. Jensen pretends to always be the life of the party but he’s got hidden depths that Harriett is determined to uncover, while he’s planning to uncover Harriett!
I loved the twist on grump and sunshine and the heat! Harriett was so straightforward that Jensen couldn’t help but fall for her while she couldn’t help but succumb to his lazy smile and seduction. I also really liked the Aidan storyline as brought out really important sides of all three characters.
I can’t wait for Zack’s story!
I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
Was I hooked by that book? For sure. Harriett and Jensen's reaction to her are a breath of fresh air. I was pulled in right from the start.
Jensen has a reputation as a stud between the sheets and not much between the ears. And it's an image he is all too happy to perpetuate. Until he comes face-to-face with Harriett, who is the high school librarian, doesn't care what other people think of her, and has no use for someone like Jensen. But Harriett needs Jensen to inspire one particular student to be better than his circumstances dictate.
With an intriguing start, I was truly curious to get to know these two people and find out where this auspicious beginning was going. Harriett and Jensen seem like they shouldn't work as a couple, but they really do.
I loved Harriett with her no-nonsense, straightforward attitude and so comfortable in her own skin. Jensen is complicated and puts on a mask of jovial stupidity so that no one can see the hurt beneath the surface, maybe not even Jensen himself.
Harriet's awakening to love and her own desires were described brilliantly. The author overused the phrase "he's so male" at some point, but the whole process was so delightful.
It's a very sweet story about finding love in unexpected places. It's also a good commentary on how we care too much about what other people think and that what other people think isn't necessarily the truth. Jensen sums it up nicely when he said, "If Harriett disappoints you, ma'am, then you can be sure the problem is you. Not her."
I can definitely recommend it for any romance reader and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
WOW!!! I LOVED reading about Jensen and Harriet in All Night Long with a Cowboy by Caitlin Crew, book two in her Kittredge Ranch series. I could not put down this emotionally charged love story filled with an opposite attracts theme, a rollercoaster of emotion and two people who see inside each other, understanding the real person they are rather than their public persona.
This story deals with Harriet, a somewhat rigid and proper school librarian who matches wits with Jensen, a charming, easygoing, playboy cowboy. Their first meeting was far from romantic, Harriet approaching Jensen for help with a student; ignorant of forcing him out of his comfort zone. I loved that Harriet didn’t magically changed her appearance before Jensen noticed her as attractive or as a romantic possibility; that he accepted her as she was, ugly dresses and all. I loved that Harriet was hardheaded and had definite reasons for being who she was. Jensen was intrigued and genuinely attracted to her, overlooking her lack of concern to clothing, hairstyle, as well as her other quirks. Jensen and Harriet had a magnetic connection, with off the charts chemistry as Jensen introduced Harriet the virgin to the joys of love-making. As these two spend time building a sweet relationship, we learn how some heartbreaking events from Jensen's past have affected him along with some from Harriet’s. I loved how strong and independent Harriet was and how determined she was to be herself; not changing because someone thought she should. The way she poured her love and acceptance onto Jensen was healing.
Ms. Crew wrote a wonderfully emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, strong friends, and charming characters that allows for acceptance and a chance at a future together for Jensen and Harriet. I highly recommend All Night Long with a Cowboy to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This enjoyable steamy romance features a prim librarian who lets her hair down for the town lothario in return for his mentoring of a young student. What starts out as a decidedly sexy quid pro quo becomes a matter of the heart as these opposites fall hard and fast.
A bit stereotypical in characterization, it's still a fast fun VERY sexy read. A top-notch epilogue seals the deal.
This was my favorite Caitlin Crews novel so far. Here are the things I LOVED about this book:
1) Harriet - (the main character). She is the high-school librarian, and is also teaching a summer class for at-risk teenagers. Harriet has trouble understanding and relating to others - she knows she is odd and doesn't really care because she is very secure with herself. I also loved how she advocated for the kids in her class as well as the way she interacted with them - firm but caring.
2) Aiden - one of the at-risk kids.
3) The theme of overcoming/conforming to expectations. Harriet is good at that - Jenson and Aiden both learn.
The romance and story was good too, but those three things made the book stand out to me.
Note: I have read other books by this author, but I did not read the first book in this series (which was no problem in my enjoyment of this one).
I've read many Caitlin Crews novels in the last several years so I know I can count on her to deliver an enjoyable romance with interesting and complex characters. That's definitely what you get here, with Harriett the forthright librarian (if this were a historical romance, she'd be a bluestocking) and Jensen, the playboy cowboy whose facade Harriett is able to see through pretty quickly. A tragedy that occurred when Jensen was a teenager has shaped his life going forward and made him determined to treat life easy (at least on the surface) and uncomplicated by anything requiring commitment like a 'relationship'. But Harriett somehow ropes him into aiding a troubled teen in her summer school program, to the surprise of his family who never would have classified Jensen as a role model. And she gets under his skin (to his chagrin), something no other woman has done. As a spinoff to the Cold River Ranch series, the Kittredge Ranch series has some familiar characters and worldbuilding and dives into both family and friend relationships in realistic fashion, which is to say that not everything is perfect. But watching Harriett and Jensen stumble their way into a real relationship is a delight. I'm looking forward to catching up on some of the stories for the secondary characters that I've missed and I'll be on the lookout for more.
