Ahh I really wanted to like this book but it just didn’t work for me. While I usually love a fake relationship trope, the main characters reasoning for needing to be together didn’t make enough sense for the story to flow. I also struggled with both Cullen and Summer. I found them both to be unlikable and it made it difficult to invest in their story, especially with all the family and divorce drama. The MCs definitely had chemistry and the spicy scenes were fun, but overall, this was a miss for me.

Thank you Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this. I read it in a single sitting. It was such easy reading. So feel-good with just the right amount of heavier topics thrown in to ground things without it overwhelming the generally happy/summer vibes.
I loved the progression and pacing of the story. It was such a fun concept and their meeting had me howling.
This was generally pretty funny and I found myself laughing on a few occasions.
The sex was written so well and walked the line between spicy but also realistic. So good.
I loved the characters, maybe a few of them were a little flat in places (mainly her family, but occasionally I felt like Summer was a little lacklustre in places also) but that was certainly made up for in Cullen. He was such a great character. I adored reading from his POV. I love the way his demons were dealt with and tackled in a very believable way.
My only gripe with the book was that her family never learnt the truth - I wish there had been more of a spectacle at the end, Wyatt tells them all and so she reveals his secret too and then has to patch everything up? It just would have added a little more drama to the end whilst also allowing the plot to feel like things actually lead somewhere. But obviously that was just a side plot and the main focus at that point was on their romance.
So yeah, overall a very enjoyable and quick romance that's perfect for that summer feeling.

Sorry but couldn’t really get away with this book. I didn’t enjoy the writing style or the storyline, found it very unrealistic in places. Skimmed through a few chapters but in the end gave up. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher the opportunity to read this book in return for a voluntary and honest review.

When I made the leap from paperbacks to digital, this author's books were some of the first to hook me in. I've read and enjoyed nearly all of her contemporaries, and I loved the first book in this series when it came out... almost four years ago. I've probably read about a thousand other romance novels during the gap between books (seriously), and unfortunately this wasn't up to the standard that my hazy memory recollects. Beyond the inconsistencies in the storyline, the manufactured drama drags this down. The writing style is devourable though, and I read this in one sitting. I liked a whole lot of it, but there are definitely some issues along the way.

The story follows Summer, a woman who is having a run of bad luck. Her brother's destination wedding is quickly approaching, and her cheating ex will be in attendance. If spending a week with the man who broke her heart isn't bad enough, Summer's apartment was also destroyed in a fire. Heading to her best friend's place for a few days, Summer has a run-in with an intense (and very sexy) neighbor. As the two get to know each other a little better, Summer and Cullen realize that they both have unfinished business with their exes that could be resolved with a fake significant other. The moody Marine agrees to be Summer's wedding date and play the role of fake fiancé, but it isn't long before things start feeling very real.

The foundation of a great fake relationship romance is here, and that's why I enjoyed so much of it. Cullen is the kind of hero that I love to read about - caring, sexy, alpha, and a little vulnerable. He's trying to find himself again, and there is so much potential in that storyline. Unfortunately, that's all sidetracked by unnecessary drama. I'm really not sure why he needed to be going through a divorce, and there are some definite inconsistencies in the storyline. The final chapters cemented this rating for me, and honestly made me consider going even lower. But I enjoyed way too much of this to drop my rating. It's an easy, steamy read that nails certain elements and completely fumbles others, but I will admit that I liked it the whole way through. I just wish there weren't so many things that bugged me. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this light, steamy romance.

I have a few other books from Melynda Price in my TBR but when I had an opportunity from NetGalley to read an early copy of this book, I had to because I really liked the description. And it was really good. I loved both Cullen and especially Summer. Typical for military men, Cullen was alpha with many issues associated with being a survivor. Summer also had some baggage from her prior romantic relationship (I really really wished I could strangle her ex) and I liked how they partnered against everyone else (although I was fairly annoyed that no one knew what really happened between Summer and her ex). I thought that the way they positioned Cullen’s priorities felt realistic and while there was a fair bit of push and pull, their fast- tracked relationship was a good explanation. The other thing that I found a little jarring is that the sections where the point of view changed was not clearly delineated. That was a bit confusing, as it took a little time before i recognized who was “speaking”. Overall, I would give this book a 4.0 and really, I was absorbed into the story.

A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I had some issues with this book. But I did like the chemistry between Summer and Cullen. Summer literally loses everything but acts as if nothing happens. Odd The story felt sort of disjointed at times. Also this is part of a series but you would never know. 3 stars.

Not bad.
The POV changing without any warning kind of messed me up, because it definitely made it hard to follow. The very beginning of the book put me off, being a bit overzealous in the descriptions while on a date.
I enjoyed Cullen as a character, but felt that Summer lacked dimension that would make her stick out more to me. She felt as interchangeable as any other female character as a love interest, and that’s not a good thing.
However, the story was engaging, I liked the basic plot line, and I almost never turn down a fake fiancée romance.

Couldn’t get past the first page description of road kill. No thanks. I know the main character hated it too but unlike her I could leave instantly

I received an advanced reader's copy of Hit It and Quit It by Melynda Price from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first book by Melynda Price that I had read and I was pleasantly surprised to find an enjoyable new author to follow.

Overall, I felt this was a solid romance novel and I found it to be extremely well written. The plot was engaging and evenly paced. The characters were nicely written (layers, folks!) and the dialogue was hilarious. And while our main characters - down on her luck/unlucky in life and love, Summer, and hot Marine with some issues, Cullen - had flaws, they were likable and had chemistry from the start.

This was a quick, fun read and I cannot wait to seek out more novels by Melynda Price to read as well!
