Leighton meets rockstar Kyler Bishop when she's just 12, because her mother is claiming that his father is Leighton's as well. Leighton becomes 'part of the family' and Kyler assumes the protective older brother role, until they're both 16 and it's discovered that Leighton's mom lied. They go their separate ways, and don't keep in touch.
Once she's 18 they reconnect, but their bond isn't one of siblings (real or imagined)...
I don't always love a slow-burn romance, but this one was pretty interesting. I will say that I didn't love how much of the story seems to take place off-page, and the whole thing moved a little slower than I would have liked. But overall it was fun to read something so different to my usual books.
The audiobook is narrated by Rose Dioro and Nathaniel Black, both of whom were new-to-me narrators, and I enjoyed their performance quite a lot. It comes in at 15 hours and 24 minutes but felt shorter to me.
Great narrators and amazing premise! Tell me when it’s over is a fiction book that felt real, and I love books with that type of storyline. Overall it was a bit of a slow read for me but I would recommend to all romance lovers!
This was a fantastic audio book with great narrators. I have been reading a lot of books in the music industry and I am loving it.
When Leighton was 12 years old, she was thrust into the life of famous musician Kyler Bishop. She became like a part of his family until that life was taken from her at 16. Three years later, they are reunited and Leighton realizes that her love for him may not be platonic. This is a slow building romance with great characters. I especially loved Kyler who was a great protector and an overall good soul.
This is pretty mild on the steam front, I rate it 🌶️🌶️/5 peppers although there is one 🔥 scene that ranks 3 to 3.5 peppers.
This was my first book by the author and I really liked it.
I loved the use of the make and female narrators and I think it really added to the listening experience.
I thought the plot was good. I like a good rock star romance.
This is a friends to lovers romance with a Hollywood twist. It’s also a slow burn, which worked wonderfully for Lenny and Kyler. The story goes into depth what happened in their past and tells both sides of the story. There was so much angst and sadness, along with sweetness! Loved the dial narration for this audiobook.
This one was described as a slow burn rockstar romance. I don’t typically like books about fictional musicians or other celebrities, but I found this one to be a super charming tale. This one was a pick in the BookSparks Summer Reading Challenge, and it was quite the pleasant surprise. I listened to it very quickly and thought the audiobook production was very well done. I will be looking for other work by this author and am looking forward to purchasing a physical copy of this book for my home library.
This was way more than just a slow burn romance it was entirely too slow to keep me engaged, Especially on audio I just wanted to skip parts. I felt the romance aspect of it with the MC being so young at first felt a little cringy too then later. Also for the book being such slow burn the ending was really rushed. Overall disappointed with this one.
I really enjoyed this story of young love. The rock star element added a level of interest and their attraction to each other felt natural. The family aspect was handled beautifully and I was rooting for them the whole time. The narration was done well and I can't wait to read more from this author!
This book was entertaining. The narration was incredibly good, I always enjoy when theirs more than one. Both were able to tell the story in such a way that it felt like a movie in my head. However, the story was a little slow moving.
🎤 As Simon Cowell would say, “It’s a No from me...” 🎙
Leighton “Ley Ley” first meets Kyler Bishop when she is 12 years old & her mother claims that his father is her father too. But, she already knows who he is from TV because he is a celebrity, a rockstar, who used to be in a band but has now gone solo. Leighton has a crush, but it’s not on him. The day that they first lay eyes on each-other she’s wearing a T-shirt with the band logo of his fierce competition & it immediately ticks him off.
“Tell Me When It’s Over” is their story, how she is thrust into his life at a young age, & he makes it his job to protect her. But, when she’s 16 they find out that it’s all a sham, they aren’t blood related at all & she moves away with her mom. As fast as she was there, she’s gone it seems. But although they don’t keep in touch, their special bond remains in tact.
But now, she’s 18, of legal age & is back after her mom passes away. She doesn’t have much to her name & the Bishops as everyone knows are loaded. Kyler makes it his duty to take her in and take care of her. Their crushes on one another are about to be discovered & explored.
What is labeled as a “Slow Burn Rockstar Romance” didn’t have any rock or even music at all & moved at snail speed. Nothing even remotely intimate happened until at least 85% through a 16 hour audiobook. I wanted to tell THEM it was over🤦🏻♀️. I found Leighton’s character to be juvenile, Kyler’s personality far too domineering & fatherly, the romance to be “icky” (she’s initially 12-13 & he’s an adult when their bond is initiated & they act as brother and sister) & the story didn’t have any reason to be so long. Then, once the romance happened the relationship went too fast & their future was crammed in. It just didn’t work for me.
But, this book may be for you if:
✔️ Like the stepbrother/ stepsister romance vibe.
✔️ Like character-driven, slow burn romances that include family & side characters.
✔️ Enjoy the jealous boyfriend/ fight for his girl trope.
Here are some examples as to why I found this story so off-putting:
“Are we friends?”
“We are so much more.”
“We are?”
“We never stopped being family.”
(Family doesn’t sleep together.”
“You care about her. As MORE than a brother.”
“...Maybe we could’ve played house a little longer, or maybe it was always meant to end. The things is I was never going to keep her out of my life forever. I planned on letting her live her life however that may be, without me until we were old enough to come back together. If she wanted that, I never forced her to do anything she didn’t want to.”
Thank you to BookSparks, B. Celeste, Netgalley & Podium Audio for allowing me to join their #src2021 AudioBook Track and sending me this #gifted copy. This title was #2 of 4.
2 ⭐️.
Rockstar romance with a hint of forbidden romance. This was a good story but seemed to drag on a bit long to get to the point you knew you were come if from page one.
This one took me a second to get into but overall all I thought the sorry line and writing was great. I do look forward to more from this author
This was definitely a slow burn romance which started as a platonic friendship.
Kyler Bishop started his career in a boyband and quit to start his solo career. His father didn't have the best track record for fidelity so when Leighton shows up with her mother Catherine insisting he is the father and has paperwork, they move in and become part of the family.
Lenny as they call her gets a loving big brother and sister while their parents are pretty toxic in their own ways. We learn at least Lenny's mom has some mental health issues that if they had been diagnosed earlier she thinks they could have had a different relationship, but hindsight can make you think those things.
This book goes between the time she moved in at age 12 to now, when she is 19 and a big life event happened where she is moving back in with Kyler.
In the current time frame she is attending college while living with Kyler and dating for the first time. Kyler has mixed feelings since he has always had feelings for her and now that she's not actually his blood relation he's trying to resist his feelings. Lenny also has always had a crush on him since he is like every girl's heartthrob poster on the wall though she did like his competition a little better. What will happen if they both realize they feel the same way?
If you like slow burn romance, friends to lovers, steaminess you will enjoy this one!
Thank you @authorbceleste, @BookSparks, and @podiumaudio for the audiobook for my honest and voluntary review. I am excited to be on the #SRC2021 audiobook track!
This was my first read of B Celeste and I can understand why her books are well recommended.
The book has mood, atmosphere, angst, romance and the tussle of ‘will they / won’t they’ . A slow burn read works well with most readers. .
The story and the characters were around a rich rockstar lifestyle which was intriguing.
I heard this as an audio book, shared by Book Sparks and Podium Audio; but I think I’d read it too at some point.

I’m not a big fan of slow romance or angsty stories but this one made me change my mind, what an amazing ride!
I loved Kyler’s character so much since the start, and the way their relationship slowly developed was just perfect. This is my first book from this author and it won’t be my last.
Thank you BookSparks, Podium Audio, NetGalley and Author B. Celeste for having me on this #SRC2021 audiobook tour.

A fabulous slow-burn novel! Perfect to listen to on long car rides! I had it at 1.5 speed and it did the trick for me!
Thank you @booksparks @netgalley for the audiobook. A celebrity, forbidden romance - sign me up! This one was a miss for me. I struggled with how slow the book was and the age gap with Leighton and Kyler. She just turned 18 so she was very naive and Kyler was way over protective and jealous. I didn’t really see the romance develop between them but more lust. I enjoyed the backstory and their story when they were younger. I also liked the dual POV and narration of the story.
pretty good romance novel. lovely story and characters. The narrator was great! the dynamic between the characters was luring. I enjoyed the build up of the relationship and the description within the plot.
Tyler and Laughton met when she was 12. Due to circumstances, their lives headed in separate directions. Years later life brings them back once and for all.
This is a slow burn romance, emphasis on slow. I’m usually patient for this type of plot, but I felt this one was a little too slow. As the story went on, I understood why, B. Celeste explains the past and the present. Which I’m quite happy she did. This love story had a unique beginning that was complicated, but not too complicated to where our hearts get broken and then have to be mended.
I will say, out of all the characters involved, Leighton’s develops the most. That’s probably due to the life she has endured. She shows resilience, determination, and a positive outlook in life and people.
Eloquently written, regardless of the slow start, I was automatically interested in knowing where this story was going. The ending did not disappoint.
Audiobook was a good choice for this book. The slow burn story almost had me dnf-ing, but then a situation came and I got more interested. I think 15hrs is still a long time for a romance novel!
A rockstar romance, slow burn love and age gap. The characters were good and the storytelling is great. I haven’t read any books by this author, so have no idea about the writing style, but I agree her style is more different than other romance authors. There is a lot of feel, heart and explanations. Its was enjoyable on audio. [3.5/5]
Thank you Podium and Netgalley for the audio listening copy.
