This book was such a delight to read! I related so much to Harper and her struggles with anxiety and sexism in a male-dominated professional field. I loved watching her start to open up to sweet Dan, who was a soft (and sexy!) place for her to land.

Funny, poignant, and full of sweet romance -- definitely pick this one up when it releases in early 2022!

Pre-Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Brush With Love by Mazey Eddings
🐝
Anxiously waiting for placement into a top oral surgery residency, Dr. Harper does not have any time for distractions, even ones as cute as Dan, a first-year dental student with a family legacy to uphold. Their lives crash together figuratively and literally, but they promise each other "just friends", but as they get closer feelings can't help but shine through, making Harper's perfectly ordered life implode.

This book was everything. It is going straight to my list of all time favourites. It gripped my heart from the first words and never let go until I was a shaking tear-strained mess of happiness. I laughed, I swooned & I cried and now I wish I could re-read it again for the first time. Harper and Dan & the awesome cast of intriguing characters Mazey carefully crafted has the kind of chemistry we don't see often. The type of magical energy that creates a universe that feels so real that you can't help but want to dive head first into its pages and loose yourself. This book was intimate, powerful, vulnerable, passionate, romantic & incredibly sweet. I can't wait to have the physical copy in my hand, gifting it to all my friends and gush about it in more detail.
My full review coming on Release day: March 1st 2022.

Love this book! I thought it Was so cool how it covers mental illness. Also, I have never read a book on dentistry, and I found it so fascinating!

I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place with this one. There were so many things that felt so sweet that I was scared I was running the risk of cavities, but an equal amount of things that had me tugging at my hair in frustration.

Harper and Dan. Harper and Dan. Harper and Dan. I cannot decide if I love both of them dearly, or if I can’t stand them. They’re both flawed characters, which I appreciated, and they’re crazy about each other. Which seems like a perfect romance set up right? Right! I…guess. The round and round nature of their relationship felt like it was building up to a big discussion on mental illness and taking care of your mind. Then when we got there (we did get there thank goodness!) the scenes felt very rushed. I think I would’ve liked to have more time focused on them growing and healing separately.

I think this story is good. It made me smile, and I’m happy with the happy ending. And that’s all you can really ask of a romance. I just think the story could have been great if it devoted less time to the cat and mouse chase and even more to the characters’ mental health.

That being said! I did like what discussion we did get. I liked that there was an acknowledgement that mental illness doesn’t excuse lashing out at the people that care about you. And I loved that treatment came on Harper’s terms. When she was ready for it. I think all of that is very important. I’m excited to read more from this author in future!

A Brush with Love by Mazey Eddings was honestly one of the best books I’ve read recently. Dental students Daniel and Harper meet when Harper falls down a flight of stairs, taking Daniel with her. Harper can’t afford distractions while waiting to get into her residency and Daniel is trying to figure out if he can make it through school with his family drama, but they can’t stop seeing each other. They have the best chemistry and I was 100% rooting for them the entire book. I loved their relationship and how they fully accepted each other and I loved how their friends were so involved. Eddings also did a great job touching on mental health issues. This book is a definite must read!

cute romance with finding love at school and dealing with family and stress. I loved the friends and hope to see her friends romance too. loved that she had anxiety and trying to deal with mental issues and getting help. Great book and loved the romance between them.

This was a compelling romance that was deep on mental health representation. It covered a heroine that has anxiety, grief, claustrophobia, and abandonment issues. The hero comes from what appears to have had, at minimum, an emotionally abusive parent that neglected the needs of him and his mother.
Sounds heavy, right? It is, but it is also really funny and swoony. There is great banter, both characters are really bright, witty, and together they have instant-hot chemistry. You yearn for them to be together from the beginning. There is pining, kissing, pushing away, with magnetic snaps back together.
It was a solid read.

Lovely , likable characters in this quaint read. One to be enjoyed by the masses. If it’s not a bestseller I’ll be surprised.

AHHH, I loved this one! In fact, I can't gush enough about it! Mazey Eddings had everything: from friends to lovers, to heavier topics, to some grief and trauma. Everything! I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did, honestly, but I loved every moment of it! And I will be following this author for future releases for sure!!

A tender romance with a highly driven female suffering from chronic and at times crippling anxiety and one of the most gentle ,patient and loving " gorgeous" males on the planet. Both leads have parent issues. The interaction between the lead characters is touching , sweet yet, at times, also painful to watch. I respect the author's wish to show that even patients with " mental illness" can find and share love; however, at times I felt that she tried to cover a bit too many issues in one romance. The anxiety, claustrophobia, and near psychotic events were enough of a burden, we really did not need to add her grief and post- accident traumatic stress on top . ( just a side note to editors about my current reading pet peeve- every book /movie/tv show does not need to include cancer or a loss of a mother in any manner and its long term unbearable effects on her grown children- Disney started this and now it's pervasive. As a Cancer patient and a mom , I read to escape as do my children, This added story feature is getting to be over utilized . End of rant). Often limiting the character's issues actually creates more angst not less. I just felt the anxiety for her and his being a round (math) peg in a square (medical) hole were enough adversity to handle .Crippling anxiety my not have a backstory- a person my just be born that way. Although I enjoyed many aspects of the book , sometimes I don't need a teachable moment in my romance. I think that she has a wonderful way with characters and I even enjoyed the friends- each with a possibility for their own story. I believe the writer has not reached her full potential and will look forward to her future endeavors.

It is hard to believe this was a debut Novel! Kudos to Mazey Eddings for making such a beautiful love story. I am a huge romance lover and I am very picky and I just fell in love with this book! I loved both Harper and Dan so much. You rooted for their HEA right from the beginning. Their love was so sweet and pure. I wanted them to achieve all of their dreams and watch their love blossom until they were old and gray. This book made me quite emotional which I never get and that is how I know it was so wonderful.

I love the way in which the author handled sensitive subjects with compassion and empathy inviting the reader to do the same.

I hope this book becomes and audiobook because I would love to hear Harper's and Dan's voices.

Thank you so much for this gifted arc.

I am so honored to have been one of the first people to read this beautiful story it it’s entirety. Mazey takes such care and consideration in her portrayal of neuro-diverse characters. I felt like I was reading a romance novel by a seasoned author with tons of titles in her backlist, but this is her DEBUT NOVEL. It’s whip-smart, so funny, beautifully written, and wonderfully paced. This novel should be on every romance lover’s bookshelf come next March. Mazey is about to take over romancelandia and I can’t wait to read every word she ever writes!

Thank you NetGalley for sending this arc for an honest review!

The moment I saw the synopsis and it mentioned “teeth” and “fillings” I was like HECK YEA, a dentistry romance. And your probably like what’s wrong with me… dentists are scary. Well I’ll have you know I happen to be studying in this category…. And now it has raised my expectations in finding love at the office. Watching Dan and Harper fall in love was the most cutest thing I’ve ever seen that I legit could not put my hands down. Don’t even get me started on Dan because he is exactly the kind of man I would want in my life. His humor, his compassion, his love for Harper all of it was just everything.

I will say though parts of the dentistry accusations were incorrect but that just my doctor self hopping out.

Harper is working hard to be the top student of the oral surgery program. As a perfectionist (something I connected with all too well) she feels she needs to study, be the best and achieve her goals no matter what. Even if it means turning her back on love.

Dan’s is a legacy student in his first year of the oral surgery program. He has family expectations that have him dealing with deep guilt and the pressure to succeed.

I felt Harper and Dan’s chemistry from the beginning of this book and rooted for them the whole time. Mazey Eddings does fantastic job of providing her characters with depth, vulnerability and passion. If you’re in need of a sweet, flirty romance with a side of angst in your life you definitely need to grab a copy of this book.

I want to thank NetGalley, the Mazey Eddings and St. Martin’s Press for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.

I fell hopelessly in love with this sweet, intense love story between two imperfect people who found love and redemption in each other. I really enjoyed how the author slowly builds this unique friendship between Haper and Dan who meet kind of awkwardly at dentristy school. My heart bled for Harper as she battles to hide her crippling anxiety from Dan who cannot understand her constant push back and denial of their budding romantic feelings but he feels such a connection to her that he patiently waits and goes at her pace.
I really appreciated that he does not push his sexual needs onto her and for the most part respects the boundaries she's set. I was torn by Harper's callous regard for Dan's feelings at the end but relieved that she gets the help she desperately needed and loved prevailes. Dan's unshakable believe in her success and his constant support makes him a hero in my book. The world needs more men like him.
The author's writing is outstanding! I felt each of their explosive emotions and the sexual tension was scorching. I can only imagine what it must be like to want someone so much you crave their touch no matter how small.

A lovey romance with modern feelings and definitely some things that are very relatable. These characters work hard to get to their happy ever after and they deserve it. I think anyone who enjoys romance will love this book.

A Brush with Love is a wonderful representation of what it's like for someone trying to live and love while dealing with anxiety and grief. Harper is a fourth-year dental school student, top of her class and awaiting acceptance into one of her choice oral surgery residencies. She's barely been living her live, keeping just a few close friends, her rigid routines, and channeling all her anxieties and stress into succeeding in school. One winter morning, she has a literal run-in with Dan, a first-year dental student who would rather be anywhere else - he's only there against his will to try to continue his family dental legacy, when really he'd prefer to be back at the finance job he loved back in NYC. The attraction between the pair is immediate, but Harper fights tooth and nail against it, too afraid of allowing someone in to her carefully controlled world. Dan agrees to be "just friends" but remains persistent yet patient, hoping that he can finally convince Harper that they are meant to be and that she can trust him.

As someone living with anxiety, I found the representation of the ups-and-downs of mental health to be very real and handled with the upmost of sensitivity. While many may see the extensive internal dialogue of the characters as excessive, it really helps to give gravity and accurately represent what might go in the mind of someone who is struggling, even if they look fine to someone else and insist they're fine to those around them. To those that live with anxiety, the constant mental battle is a legit struggle, and you do everything you can to control everything around you - allowing yourself to drop your guard and allow someone else into your little world seems nearly impossible. The one-step-forward, three-steps-back that Harper and Dan go through felt very real and was handled so well. I hope every reader can appreciate this gentle but heartfelt love story!

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review!

I enjoyed the characters and how relatable they were with their interactions, jokes and, friendships with each other. I appreciated the representation of anxiety and mental health throughout the story and it was so lovely to see how understanding Dan and Harper's friends were but that when the time came, they could also give some tough love. Dan and Harper's friendship to romance was also really sweet.
Overall, I enjoyed this read (especially getting to read it early as this will not be published until 2022) and look forward to more from this author.
