Back to their stellar plot twist writing roots!! After Dnf'g their 2nd book, and not reading their 3rd. I was so happy to read and LOVE this one. While I may have seen the whodunit, I still loved everything about it!

Well, *clearly* Marissa and Matthew Bishop can’t be as perfect as they seem… With two successful careers, one adorable son, and a happy marriage, the face they present to the world is perfect. Then why are they in the office of former therapist (license revoked) Avery Chambers?

The history and present the Bishop’s relationship are peeled back in layers in this twisty puzzler. Avery is the prime (very intrusive) investigator, and as she uncovers revelation upon revelation we start to question everything we know about the characters.

This is a fun thriller and domestic drama with plenty of surprises for the reader.

Set in the Washington DC area, Avery Chambers has achieved local fame by being controversial. She’s a therapist but lost her license because of her unorthodox methods of treatment. And she became a whistleblower when a client confided in her that her employer, drug company Acelia, was about to get FDA approval for a drug they knew causes an unacceptable risk of death. Marissa Bishop seeks Avery’s help with her marriage to Matthew after she cheated on him. She had read about Avery’s unique 10-session method to helping her clients and hoped she could help. The seemingly golden couple meets with Avery and the first thing Marissa does is confess her infidelity. After some reluctance, Matthew, furious and distraught, agrees to the sessions.

What starts out as a family drama turns into an intense domestic thriller, as fans of the writing duo of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen would expect. The Golden Couple is told through the eyes of Marissa and Avery. Avery, we learn, has troubles of her own. Acelia wants to know the name of the person who told her about the poor results of their drug trial and while Avery thought her call to the FDA was anonymous, the company has her name, address and number. Their threats starts to accelerate.

As the story progresses, we learn that just about everyone is hiding something. And Avery wants to uncover the lies. But her tactics start becoming a bit creepy. And the actions of Marissa, her husband, the man she slept with, her very odd assistant and others in this wild, often over-the-top story will keep your head spinning. I enjoyed getting tangled up in this creative web of lies.

I’ve read and enjoyed all of the books Hendricks and Pekkanen have written together and will keep reading whatever they write.

Avery is an unconventional therapist – but her methods work. She promises to solve anyone’s problems within 10 sessions. Marissa gets in contact with Avery because she wants to confess her infidelity, so she brings her husband Matthew with her to try out Avery’s unorthodox methods.

This book kept me hooked until the end, and although I’ve read a thousand thrillers, I wasn’t able to predict the twist – so that deserves bonus points. I would definitely read more by this author because most thrillers can’t keep me entertained anymore.

Hendricks and Pekkanen do not disappoint! They have become one of my autobuy authors. This one was very twisty and had me convinced one person was the evil mastermind, but then it turned upside down. Marissa seeks out Avery, an unconventional consultant, to help save her marriage. Avery professes to be able to solve any clients issue in 10 sessions or less. Her methods are a tad unorthodox, but she really immerses herself into her clients lives. As Avery attempts to help Marissa and Matthew she begins to realize that the three of them are more interwoven than just client and consultant. The Golden Couple was a tense thrill ride that kept me guessing until the end.

**very MILD spoiler ahead**

The Golden Couple was my BOTM selection so I began this book a little ahead of time. When I saw I was approved by NetGalley I immediately changed over to my kindle as it’s so much more convenient. Now, onto the book!

This author duo never disappoints me. I’ve been a big fan of their work since their debut novel together a few years back. I can definitely say that The Golden Couple is probably my favorite book of theirs to date. I read this one pretty much non-stop. Just a few sittings was all it took for me devour this domestic suspense/thriller book. I thought the story was expertly crafted and I loved all the secrets. The character of Avery was my favorite. She was very untraditional in her ways of dealing with her clients, but hey- I was happy to be here for the ride! (Her adopting an abused shelter dog also scores her some points).

I felt the characters in this book were well developed, the premise was so original, and the writing was fantastic. I loved the many surprises. Hello, pregnancy test, anyone?! Thank you Netgalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC. I’ll most likely give my physical copy to a friend. Will post review on book blog closer to pub date!

I LOVED this book. I took off a star because things came together too quickly for one person but whatevs the whole book kept me intrigued. I read this so quickly because I had to know what was going on. Our golden couple Marissa and Matthew seem to have it all together until they arrange to start an innovative form of couples counseling with Avery. Avery is a standout narrator and as we delve into the picture perfect world of the couple, we learn more about Avery and how she managed to lose her license. This isn't a spoiler because she literally talks about it as soon as the book opens but it does lead to a world of possibilities. As we find out new secrets, Avery realizes that maybe she has bit off more than she can chew and I couldn't wait for the mystery to be solved.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader digital version of this book. This book has amazing twists and turn. The protagonist was hidden until the very final chapters and I had only briefly suspected who that was to be.. The story is very interesting and many introduced characters were suspicious. Loved the back and forth characters/chapters. 5 stars

Holy crap! I've been a long time fan of Greer and Sarah's books, and this one did not disappoint. It was twisty, turny, and the end was completely unexpected. As you may know, I LOATHE ambiguous endings, and that is not at all what we get here, and I am so happy about that. Once again, Greer and Sarah kept me reading all day and past my bedtime, because I could just not put the book down without knowing who did it. I wasn't absolutely shocked at the ending, but I definitely was not expecting it. 4 glorious stars!

Another amazing book by my favorite author duo! I’m so glad I overcame my addiction to looking up spoilers since my eagerness to find out the ending kept me flying through this book, alternating between audiobook and ebook and basically closed off to the world while I was enveloped in this novel. Gosh, it was so stressful in the best way!

Ex therapist Avery now, is helping people with her 10 session method. When Marissa hears about her, she is sure Avery can help her and her husband Mathew.

I was curious from the start about Avery and why she had lost her therapist license. But as we go, we find her methods are different and not alway ethical but they do work. She meets with Marissa and Mathew to help them get their marriage back after infidelity, but besides that major issue they seem to perfect, The Golden Couple. The characters all had this questionability about them, whats their motive, why are they doing that, what are they really hiding? They were all just a little off, and that had me more invested into what was happening. When strange things start happening to both Avery and the couple I couldn't figure out the connection. This one took turns I didn't see coming. I enjoyed the threats as they built and made all the characters more and more nervous. I liked the way it all came together in the end!

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for my review copy!

I enjoyed reading this smartly written psychological thriller/ mystery. The plot is centered around an unconventional marriage therapy for a couple who seem to have it all. All the characters had depth, and each had a bit of suspiciousness. Easy to read with fast pacing and intrigue. Told in dual POV; Avery, the therapist, no nonsense, blunt, but issues in her personal life, and Marissa, who seems to have the perfect life, but she had an affair so all is not as “Golden” as it seems. The story was paced well with building onto the story, subtle clues keep you guessing, and supportive characters that casted suspicion. The writing duo of Hendricks and Pekkanen are still on a winning track of publishing wonderful thrillers

I loved this book! It was full of twists and turns and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to read to the end to find out what happened but didn’t want the book to end!

Greer & Sarah are auto-buy authors for me, they always will be! I love the dynamic that two authors bring to the table - a lot of times this doesn't work, but these two are masters at writing together! I would love to be a fly on the wall when they write - the dynamic must be very unique and interesting and ugh I just would love to see it!

Anyway, back to the book. This was GOOD! I read this as a buddy read with Jamie and Jojo and first off...dream team of buddy reads! These girls are JUST SO FUN! This book was super twisty, super dark in a "behind closed doors" sort of way, with multiple POVs, a therapist who lost her license, a perfect couple cracking at the seams, a homeless man with beautiful cashmere gloves, an over achiever beaver of a personal assistant and a total Karen of a PTA mom. I mean...what else can you hope for?!

While this wasn't my favorite book by this duo, I still really enjoyed it...4 stars enjoyed it! The ending just sort of fizzled out for me because I thought the entire story was the perfect combo of slow, twisty, wind-up with unreliable characters and then it just sorta ended? I think it could've packed a bigger punch in the final few pages, but overall I really liked this and had a hard time putting it down.

Which of the Greer/Sarah books have you read that is your favorite? And will you be picking this one up?

Special thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.

This duo does it again. I loved this book. Nothing is what it seems and it had twists and turns. Actually, I was surprised because I don't like all of these authors books but this one for me was a winner. Very good. 4 stars!

Really enjoyed this one! I’ve been seeing it all over and was so excited when I got approved for it through Netgalley. It was entertaining and I was intrigued the whole time. I am not good at guessing what will happen and again, surprise, I was wrong with this one too 😝 It was fast paced and by the end I couldn’t put it down!

Definitely recommend this one.

Thanks to Netgalley for my free advance reader copy in exchange for my review.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review! I have enjoyed these authors in the past and The Golden Couple was no exception! It was a very fast paced thriller that had me turning the pages as fast as I could. This book was told between two point of views and I enjoyed being in their head!

This is the story of Avery Chambers, a sort of former therapist who swears by somewhat unconventional methods. See, Avery’s system makes big claims-she can fix your problems in just 10 sessions. Her track record speaks for itself, until Matthew and Marissa aka, The Golden Couple, enter her office.

When Mathew Bishop comes to the first session with his wife he thinks they are meeting about their son. Then Marissa tells him the truth about why she gathered them there…or does she?
As the sessions unfold, supporting players grow more suspicious and secrets are revealed. But just like the saying says, all that glitters isn’t always gold.

This is the first book I’ve read by the powerhouse writing duo of Hendricks and Pekkanen, but it won’t be the last!
