Another amazing thriller by Hendrick/Pekkanen! This duo is fast becoming one of my go-to authors. Loved the premise of this story, and all of the twists and turns along the way. Could not put it down. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

This book is completely insane and I LOVED IT. Absolutely nothing is what it seems. Everyone is a liar and even the lies hold deeper deception than meets the eye. I haven’t been held hostage like this by a book in a long time. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves twists and turns with a side of shocking revelations. So. Good.

What a great mystery! Everybody is a potential target and no one knows why until the very end. Marissa and Matthew Bishop go to marital counseling after she commits adultery with one of their longtime friends. They know their new counselor, Avery, lost her license to do therapy but she was recommended by a friend.

That's not Avery's secret. She reported a corrupt drug company, thinking she would be anonymous. Now she's always looking over her shoulder.

And just when I thought, gee, this therapy might really work, the whole shebang blows up. Could something happen to the Bishops' young son? And what's Grandpa's story?

Few things are as they seem but I was not even close in my estimation of who would do what to whom.

I highly recommend The Golden Couple. I read it in two days-- I just couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to reading other books by these authors.

One of the best thrillers I’ve heard all year. I was a big fan of this book the plot was interesting from the start. I couldn’t wait to see what happened and I wasn’t disappointed.

So how do I justify pushing 20+ books aside to read The Golden Couple? First, none of them publish until at least next month, so no other books were hurt. Second, if you get the chance to read an early copy of a book by Hendricks and Pekkanen, you don't need an excuse! Third, I loved The Wife Between Us and if this was a physical book, you might see a picture of it covered in bite marks because I devoured it.
Marissa and Matthew seem to have it all. Money, looks, brains, and a son they adore. Until Marissa makes an appointment with a therapist, one who has lost her license but still runs an in-demand business. Avery follows her own rules, but she can almost guarantee results if you adhere to her program. While Marissa's confession may mean the end of her marriage, Avery senses more going on between these two than just infidelity.
Avery is dealing with her own personal and professional issues, and as the story progressed, she seemed to get more and more tangled up in a complicated web of lies and deceit. A clever game of cat and mouse that kept me guessing throughout. The ending surprised me and if life didn't get in the way, I never would have put this book down until I was finished. 4.5 stars.

An affair, a marriage in turmoil, and a therapist with a few issues of her own. This book was domestic suspense at its finest; glossy, secretive and absorbing. It made for compulsive reading. I love this kind of smooth, twisty read, those privileged, seemingly perfect lives that absorb you then pull you under the surface, tangled in their secrets and lies. It was entertaining, scandalous and had me hooked from start to finish.

Starting the Golden Couple? Best to cancel everything in your day because once you start you’re hooked and won’t stop reading.
Avery, an unconventional therapist who “cures”: patients with her unique 10 meeting plan, meets with husband and wife Marissa and Matthew where Marissa announces she’s slept with another man. On the outside this couple look like they have everything, wealth, smarts, and gorgeous looks, but the cracks are there and Avery is positive she can help them. But Avery is dealing with some large issues of her own and the more meetings she has with them the more entangled they all become.
This is a well constructed suspense novel with several strong plots happening at the same time and the authors carry them off brilliantly. I highly recommend The Golden Couple and think it will be a huge hit.

I have been a fan of theirs since their first book so I thought I knew what I was getting into. This book took me by surprise with so many unexpected paths and reasonings. They are master story tellers who weave prose and suspense together like it's their web.

I eagerly anticipate any new books by these two stellar authors and this one does not disappoint. A married couple, faced with an infidelity, seeks the counsel of a disgraced therapist with unconventional methods. The story alternates between the therapist, Avery, and the wife, Marissa, perspectives. As the story of the infidelity unfolds, Avery leads the couple through her ten step process, each step designed to push the couple further into discomfort in order to confront the issue.

As the couple navigates the therapy sessions, Avery is faced with her own crisis. A client, Finley, has revealed a company secret that could threaten the lives of many. Without hesitation, Avery reports the danger anonymously. But it isn't long before someone is following her. The story banters back and forth between the two perspectives, and the reader is introduced to a mix of new characters, each with a different relationship to either Avery or Marissa.

As a reader, I found myself trying to connect all the characters and decipher who is truthful and who is less than forthcoming. I love books that challenge me to uncover the threads that weave characters together as I try to spot the red herrings. This is that kind of book. And as with their prior books, I was surprised by the ending.

The only criticism I would have about the book is that I didn't believe that Marissa and her husband would let their young son have a relationship with the estranged grandfather, Chris. Letting him go alone on outings with Chris just didn't feel authentic based on what I knew about the couple.

I appreciate being able to read this advance copy through Net Galley and look forward to many more books by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen!

Avery Chambers is a therapist with a unique strategy for "fixing" her patients problems. Despite losing her license, due to her controversial methods, her success rate is phenomenal but she won't take you on if she isn't certain she can fix you with her ten-step program. Marissa and Mathew Bishop, on the surface, appear to be the "Golden Couple" but Marissa confesses her infidelity in hopes that Avery can save her marriage but the biggest secrets are yet to be revealed...a dangerous web of deceits.

The Golden Couple is a fantastic new thriller/mystery novel that you won’t want to put down. Professional magicians are masters of misdirection, and like them, the dynamic duo that composes Greer Hendricks are skilled at leading your mind in a wild goose chase of whodunit. Just when you think you have everything figured out they will have you questioning everything you just pieced together. There is sure to be at least a few surprises for readers when they reach the last thrilling page. Avery is an unconventional therapist who methods have resulted in her losing her license. The death of her terminally ill husband leaves an emptiness she is trying to fill while she is learning to navigate her new life. Mathew's holds a high-power position at his company leaving Marissa to run a high end boutique while simultaneously raising their 8-year-old son. Marissa seeks Avery's help to save her marriage after she admits to an infidelity but someone doesn't want the couple staying together. The only way Avery will be able to help is if they choose to reveal all of their secrets...but even she won’t be prepared for what she discovers...A must read for 2022!

This is fabulous domestic suspense! Well plotted, many great twists and turns, interesting characters and a fabulous ending! The dual perspective viewpoint was very well-executed and each character was well-developed. I thought the novel perhaps could have been a bit shorter but wow, what a novel and what a great ride! Sure to be a hit and deservedly so. Highly recommend!!

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for this advance reader cooy in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to read this book! The twists kept me hanging on and I was really invested in the characters. The author's style of writing grabbed me and I couldn't stop reading! I put all my other books aside just to get to the ending. The authors are masters of character development and suspense, which makes it easy to keep on reading through the night just to see how things turned out. The plot was well developed, and I liked the idea of a therapist trying to help a broken marriage.
I developed a love/hate relationship with the characters, plus I thought everyone was an unreliable narrator. That gave the plot some serious ups and downs.
I would read anything that these authors write because their skills make each book a winner every time.

Marissa and Mathew turn to an unconventional and somewhat controversial therapist to repair their marriage after Marissa admits to an affair. As therapy progresses, more mysteries arise and lies uncovered. A psychological thriller with great characters and character development.

This book slipped through the cracks on my TBR pile. So I am months overdue leaving a review. Sorry! Especially because this is a great book. There were so many twists and turns that I found myself going back to reread sections because I needed to make sure I understood what was happening. Loved the suspense and was totally surprised by the ending.

like all of the previous books by these co-authors, and I think they have done it again and created a fun, fast-paced and well thought out mystery. There are a LOT of red herrings here, so you most likely won't immediately figure everything out.

Ever since I read The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, they have been one of my go-to suspense thriller authors. The Golden Couple is the latest in the line of absolutely riveting thrillers from this writer duo.

Avery Chambers is a maverick therapist who claims to have a unique, unconventional and highly controversial ten-session formula to set right her client’s issues. Marissa and Matthew Bishop, “the golden couple” are living the American dream - successful careers, comfortably luxurious lifestyle, 8-year old in private school, the works. An infidelity on Marissa’s part has them seeking out Avery’s services and then the thrilling spider web spins – full of suspense, drama, plot twists and unraveling secrets

This is an easy to read, entertaining novel – contemporary family drama rolled into psychological suspense thriller. Each new chapter keeps you guessing. Every time I felt I had it all figured out, the plot twist turned it on it's head. I could not put the book down until the very end.

The book comes out on 08 March 2022. Thank you St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Avery is the maverick therapist who has lost her license but still takes on private clients to work through the ten step program she has pieced together to help her patients get back on track with their relationships and life. Marissa seeks her out to help her and her husband, Matthew, after Marissa cheats on him with someone from her gym. What follows is a story that involves different characters and suspicion on how they are a part of the deception that has happened to Matthew. What does Polly, Marissa’s overly eager assistant have to do with what happened? Did Natalie, Matthew’s former girlfriend, play a part? And Skip, Avery’s friend who has gone out on a few dates with her - why is he acting secretive around her suddenly? Not to mention, Avery is being stalked by a pharmaceutical company who has found out she was a whistleblower after a client disclosed information that one of their products was killing an alarming number of people in trials, but was still up for approval by the FDA. It sounds like it’s too much to keep up with, but Hendricks and Pekkanen’s writing flows and connects all the parts up to the conclusion of the story where you release your breath as everything clicks into its spot.

Usually, I start writing my reviews about halfway through a book because I can see where it is going and how it will get there. This book, I hesitated. I wanted to be immersed in the book for my first end by the authors. This book hooks you early and you are able to easily see how the tales are interwoven without any confusion. You find that you bounce from thinking one character is the culprit to another until right before the reveal, you have your answer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Why did I rate this thriller 5 stars? Because there are a few moments that just slap you in the face, and when that happens, it's a book that deserves a full five-star rating. This talented author duo is so good at developing characters and story lines that draw their readers in, and I would argue that The Golden Couple is their best novel yet.

This story moves between several interconnected plot lines -- the unconventional therapist, the secrets of her current clients (The Golden Couple), old loves, and even a bit of corporate espionage. The book is long, but every page is important and well-written. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and had a very hard time putting it down.

5/5 stars, will enthusiastically recommend.
