Every time Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen come out with a new book. I always get super excited. Somehow I was very lucky to get my hands on an early copy of The Golden Couple. I honestly am truly thankful for that. I made sure I read it nice and early because I really couldn't wait any longer. I knew nothing about this book going into it. I honestly picked it up solely because of the two authors.

The story has two point of views. There's Avery she was a licensed therapist until she got it taken away for her conventical ways. Then there's Marissa, she's Avery's new client who has a big secret she's been hiding from her husband. From the outside looking in Marissa and her husband, Matthew, look like The Golden Couple. Perfect in everyway. However, there is a lot more going on behind the scenes.

Wow, I have to say this book really took me on a ride. I wasn't sure what to expect but I literally was completely wrong with all my guesses. I really thought I had it all figured out. I was very sure of it. However, I was way off. I usually feel I'm a bit more on top of it but not with this one. I've learned to accept that from Greer and Sarah. That's what keeps me enjoying their books so much. I love being completely shocked by what is going on in the story.

I have to say I enjoyed what was going on in both character's povs. I do feel like Avery was learning about what was going on in Marissa and Matthew's life while also dealing with a lot in her own life. I do feel that ended up wrapping up a little too neatly but it kept me interested. I feel I might not have been as drawn to Avery's character if she lived a rather plain life.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure what to except and I was not disappointed. I swear Greer and Sarah work so well together. They know how to play off each other's writing and come up with a great story that continues to keep you guessing until the end. So far I've really enjoyed everything they've come out with. I will continue to pick up whatever they write together.

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen deliver another highly anticipated thriller! The Golden Couple introduces us to Matthew and Marissa, who are in need of help with their marriage. They enlist the services of Avery, a therapist who has lost her license but offers a 10 session cure for nearly every issue. I don't think anyone could anticipate the issues that Matthew and Marissa bring (definitely not even themselves).
This book moves at a breakneck pace and has so many wild twists and turns! The only reliable character is Romeo, Avery's rescue pit bull (which made her an instantly likable character for me). So many red herrings and characters lying to everyone including themselves - wow! The changing POVs are very effective, and the chapters are a quick read. This is an excellent psychological thriller - now, I could have gone for a bit more of a darker ending, but that's just me. A very very solid 4.5 stars - I will be recommending this to many friends and readers.

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martins Press for an ARC in exchange for review.

Avery Chambers won’t take you on as a client if she doesn't think she can "fix" your problem in 10 sessions. Her technique is unorthodox/controversial methods. She lost her license due to her methods but that hasn't stopped her helping her clients nor has it stopped people from seeking her out.

When she is approached by the "Golden Couple," Marissa and Mathew Bishop, she knows she can help them. Marissa cheated but wants to work on her marriage, it was a mistake, and she will do whatever it takes to make things right. There are secrets in this marriage. Secrets have a way of coming out. Session one is only the beginning....

This was an engrossing audio book. I enjoyed being able to read and listen to the book at the same time as I had a digital copy and the audiobook. I thought the narrators were fantastic! This book grabbed me right away and I loved how the book progressed. There is the main plot and a subplot involving Avery.

The authors did a good job casting doubt and parading around suspicious characters. I enjoyed how they teased things. Will you figure this book out or will you be shocked? Read it to find out.

I found this to be a fun, riveting and gripping read!

This one grabbed me right away. The story alternates from Avery and Marissa’s POV. Usually with thrillers like this, I tend to not like most if not all the characters. I thought I was going to feel the same way about this one, but I ended up liking most of the characters in the book. There is a big twist to this one, but I sort of figured it out early on. It didn’t take anything away from the ride to get there. And what a wild ride that was!!! It is hard to know who to trust. This might be one of my favorite thrillers I have read recently. I know the book was supposed to be about Marissa and Matthew, but I honestly felt like Avery’s back story and just the way she runs her business was much more fascinating.

Bottom Line: Read it!

This is a fast read from a repeat author who is an instant-buy for me. The "golden couple" Mathew and Marisa are in deep marital trouble when they contact Avery as their therapist to guide them through their problems. Avery, a maverick counselor who has recently lost her license, has some wild ideas about working with couples and becomes quickly enmeshed in their relationship. It's a thrilling ride from the opening chapter to the final pages

A very interesting premise. I was invested from the beginning, and I found it very entertaining. I liked that you never quite knew what was going on, and when you thought you had it figured out; there was another twist. I also really enjoyed the sessions and descriptions of the experimental treatments past and present. There were parts that I wished were more fast paced, but that did not take away from the flow of the plot. I did tend to find the therapists story more enjoyable than the golden couple. Overall, this was a fun read. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't expect the ending, and I loved all the twists. Great read. Would definitely recommend.

What a twisted, tangled mess. I loved it and couldn't put it down. Lots of characters, lots of secrets and lies. It is told from 2 POV and they are equally interesting. This is their best book since The Wife Between Us. Well done and recommended!

I’ve really enjoyed these authors’ books before and was pleased with this thriller. I did think it moved slowly at times and being a therapist I was pretty appalled at Avery’s twisted version of therapy, but overall I enjoyed it. I did like that the story kept twisting like a Rubik’s cube until all the pieces finally painted a complete picture. I really loved Bennett and Romeo a lot. I didn’t really love the rest of the characters but they grew on me despite their dark bits. (Except Polly, I didn’t like her at all). Avery has lost her license to be a therapist, but she is still taking on clients and leading them through her own 10 session process to fix their lives. Marissa contacts her to try to fix her marriage to Matthew and int he first session admits to having a one night stand and cheating on him. Avery has very unconventional methods but even her spying and sleuthing leave her missing pieces and struggling to put it all together.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advance ebook copy of The Golden Couple.

First I have to say that these authors are a perfect duo! The twists and turns in this story with the secrets that. bubbled to the surface right up to the last chapter were ingenious! I was not disappointed with this one. Technically a 4.5 star rating for another winner. Not a 5 star for me, as I reserve those for books that I truly can't stop thinking about. This one will stick with me for a few days but maybe not a fav.

A psychological thriller about a non-traditional ex-therapist and her newest clients. Your seemingly perfect couple. The wife is seeking the therapist as a way to disclose her one night affair to her husband. She wants to save her marriage and thinks this new approach just may be the answer. What unrolls as the story progresses is the fine line connecting all of the characters to each other! It is a red herring buffet people! Just when I thought it was too obvious, it was! Truly an enjoyable cringy read that kept me guessing right up to the end.
My favorite character was Avery, the "therapist" in our story, her non-traditional stalker ways made me cheer her on! Yes, give everyone the answers they need to hear! Such a creative premist for the therapist to finally be the one to make decisions.
A must read for fans of psychological thrillers and mysteries.

I was so excited to get an early copy of The Golden Couple. It was a very suspenseful read that I really enjoyed. There are lots of mini stories throughout the book but it all comes together very nicely in the end. I loved it!

The Golden Couple is the newest thriller written by the dynamic writing team of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. Marissa and Matthew are the titular golden couple, at least on the outside. They have a successful marriage and careers along with a happy child. Then Marissa tells Matthew a secret she's been keeping and their marriage slowly unravels as a result. They turn to therapist Avery to set their marriage back on the road to success. This changes all of their lives. Read and enjoy!

I was super excited to score an ARC of The Golden Couple, as I've enjoyed past books by this author duo. While I did like this one, I didn't love it. The readability factor was good, it was easy to get into, and it held my interest throughout. The idea of a rogue therapist with unconventional methods was intriguing. But man oh man was there a lot of info dump via the narrative. The telling versus showing concept skewed way to the telling aspect, enough that I really noticed. I didn't feel the story was as clever as their past books. The twists were well paced but not epic gotcha moments. There was a secondary story line that was underdeveloped and I found its conclusion unsatisfying, but I liked the ending to the main plot line. Overall, an decent thriller, not my favorite from the author but I will continue to read their books.

thank you much for the chance to read this before it hits shelfs next month. Wow what a wild ride, I started the book and put it down a few times but when I picked it back up the last time, I didn't put it down. i was grasping at pages trying to figure it out. I loved the characters. The storyline went so well, the only thing I didn't care for was the secondary plot with Chris, Matthew's father, I think it could have gone without that, or maybe played out differently. I won't lie I had my suspicions about as few of the characters but wasn't for sure until the last few chapters. I am so glad I got to read this book and definitely recommend running out to get this book!!

All I can say is wow! They did it again. This was an awesome book filled with tons of plot twists and secrets.

Goodreads summary: If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in 10 sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. Her successes are phenomenal—she helps people overcome everything from domineering parents to assault—and almost absorb the emptiness she sometimes feels since her husband’s death. Marissa and Matthew Bishop seem like the golden couple—until Marissa cheats. She wants to repair things, both because she loves her husband and for the sake of their 8-year-old son. After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods. When the Bishops glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

As you can tell from that foreboding description, there is a lot going on in this book. Besides just the main story of Marissa and Matthew trying to work out their marital issues, there are plenty of other secrets and plot twists to keep you going. This was a book that’s hard to put down once you get started because there is always something going on and you want to find out what happens next.

Of all the mini-stories going on in this book, I think my favorite is Romeo’s story. ❤️❤️ But I’m also a sucker for dogs. 🐶

I definitely recommend this for everyone. I feel like there’s a little bit of everything in this book—definitely lots of mystery/thriller vibes, but also some family drama, tiny bit of romance involved, and of course who wouldn’t love a story involving a rescue dog??

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

I have read every book by this awesome duo and I have enjoyed them all. This one was no different. The writing style is very engrossing, the characters are fully developed (I love Avery!!!) and it's a nice slow burn.

"You can never truly know what is inside another person’s heart or head." Maverick ex-therapist, Avery, accepts Marissa and Mathew Bishop as new clients to help them try to repair their marriage after Marissa's affair. Avery, herself, is dealing with her own issues - recently widowed and also having made a few enemies as a result of some of her other recent clients. Between the lies and deception in the Bishop's marriage and the events that unfold in Avery's own personal life, I found this book to be a quick read, keeping my attention throughout. I thought the authors did a nice job with the characters - especially Avery. Avery's no nonsense approach, dislike of and resistance to bullies, and commitment to protecting her patients is admirable.

Overall, I thought this was an enjoyable book that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing a copy for review.

Avery is a therapist, or rather she used to be until she lost her license due to her questionable practices. Now she is a counselor. She only takes on couples she thinks she can fix in 10 sessions. Nothing is out of bounds for her. She researches her clients ruthlessly.
She takes on Marissa and Mathew as clients in order to save their marriage. You see, Marissa has cheated and regrets it and wants to get her marriage back on track.
There is a feeling of unease all throughout the story. There must be more secrets to come right? Oh yes there are!
I was engrossed in this book right from the start. I couldn't wait to find out what happens. Unfortunately, real life gets in the way and I couldn't read it all in one sitting like I wanted to. But I was right back to it whenever possible. I loved this one!

Many thanks to netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the arc.

Marissa and Matthew Bishop are the "golden couple" that many view with envy: looks, brains, success and an adorable 8 year old son as well. Privately, all is not "golden" and something is amiss within their marriage but, Marissa is desperate to fix things. She seeks out a couple's therapist named Avery Chambers who is known to use some unethical tactics. Well, that is how she lost her license but, some clients continue to rave about her amazing results. She employees a unique Ten Step program which turns out to be somewhat unorthodox to saw the least and her methods at times were even jaw dropping at times.

Can this marriage be saved? What brought the"Golden Couple" to seek therapy? Who can you trust in this story?

This audio book hooked me immediately: narrated by Marin Ireland and Karissa Vacker who did an excellent job. The story is told from the POV of Avery, the therapist and Marissa, the "golden wife" and even though I wasn't sure I could trust either one them at times, I was drawn to each of them for different reasons - Marissa seemed to want to mend her marriage and Avery, well, she adopted an abused pit bull:) These women do have their secrets as does "golden husband" Matthew. There were several secondary characters as well that added suspicion to the story.

I found the story engaging even if it did fizzle out a bit after a while. There were several twists and a somewhat unexpected climax as well. I enjoyed the team of authors in the past and was happy I had a chance to try this one.

Rating - 4/5 stars
