Another winner for the Hendricks / Pekkanen duo! These 2 women go together like peanut butter and jelly.

This book gripped me from the very first page and held me captive until the end. I was so drawn into Avery’s method and what was really going on between Marissa and Matthew that I read this book every spare second that I had.

The writing is solid, the pacing is on point and the characters were just the right amount of suspicious that you knew that something else was going on. I would highly recommend this book to fans of thrillers, domestic thrillers and mysteries.

No one writes domestic thrillers like Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen 👏 I finished The Golden Couple on audio in 3 days but easily could’ve binged it in one.

There’s something oddly comforting about sinking into the lives of someone else. Especially women like Avery and Marissa. I won’t lie - I was intrigued with Avery more right from the start. She’s strong, elusive, and incredibly self-aware. I loved reading about how her mind worked. She’s incredibly analytical, a skill that makes it seem like she can read your mind or tell the future.

While I also loved Marissa, there were quite a few times I wanted to shake her in hopes it would help her see what was right in front of her. The authors did a great job at depicting how easy it is to not see what you’re not ready to. There are of course some dramatics woven in throughout to keep us entertained but I think most of this could happen in real life - which is terrifying.

I could totally see, or maybe I’m hoping, Avery being a character in future books. She has so much to offer both story and entertainment wise. I just don’t want my time with her to be up 😫. If you’re looking for a solid domestic thriller that will keep you thoroughly entertained, you need to pick up The Golden Couple!

I love a book that makes me stay up late to finish it. I read this one in one day, as each chapter kept my kind spinning and putting together clues. Each character seems to have suspicious and a secret. My suspicions were pretty good on guessing but then there is another twist ! Definitely my kind of book. Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC.

This was another good one by a skilled, thriller-writing duo. I think I’ve read everything they’ve created together now, and they don’t tend to disappoint. The premise of the story was interesting, and I liked that, even though I could make some guesses, I never knew exactly what was going to happen next. As usual, I was intrigued by the characters, plot, and twists, and I loved how I wasn’t ever sure how things would turn out. Even if some of the ultimate reveals weren’t wholly original, they were presented in fresh ways. I also enjoy how these writers’ books tend to feature alternating perspectives from multiple female protagonists; it’s a fun way to keep the story engaging and to prolong some of those tense, suspenseful moments. I can’t wait to see what these two come out with next!

Greer Hendricks does not disappoint. This was one of their best. A layered thriller and very unreliable characters. Each one was a suspect and so well developed. Interesting plot as the narrator was a therapist but lost her license ... so her sessions have no client confidentiality. And you will never guess the ending. It was perfect. Thanks to Net Galley for an early read.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press for a gifted copy of The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. All opinions are my own.

Avery is no longer a licensed therapist but she still has many clients. Marissa and Mathew look like the perfect couple when they show up for their first session. It's Avery's job to find out what is lying underneath and she plans to do it in 10 sessions.

This is a story about secrets. It will keep you wondering and guessing. At times it felt there were too many side characters with stories but overall it worked. As usual with Hendricks and Pekkansen, I really enjoyed it and will be looking forward to their next book.

These two authors are so clever together and never disappoint. I always look forward to their books. While this was not my favorite by them, I still enjoyed it. Would recommend.

I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

This may be my favorite book I've read in 2022. I've also enjoyed other books written by this duo. This book has everything you want from a thriller. Suspense, interesting characters, and thrilling reveals. The Golden Couple alternates between two narrators and multiple storylines. I especially thought one of the main characters, Avery, was very unique. The chapters are short and digestible but this book is hard to put down. Thanks for the advance review copy.

I really enjoyed this one! It’s full of a ton of characters all carrying their own secrets that slowly start to unravel. It kept me guessing. I liked the twists, although there wasn’t anything that completely shocked me or flipped everything on its head. It’s a solid mystery of trying to figure out these people and how occurrences each have really gone down in their lives. I enjoyed it!

Marissa and Matthew Bishop may seem like the golden couple on the outside, but they have their problems to. They begin to see Avery, a ex-therapist who lost her license but still “counsels” with unorthodox methods. All three have secrets that may be revealed.

This is a suspense that will keep you turning the pages. There is a lot going on and a lot of turning wheels that make you think.. what is going on?! Do not worry… it will make sense in the end. It wrapped up a bit quickly for me with a sudden reveal I was not expecting. I enjoyed the therapy portion of the story, as it was non-traditional.

“One percent of the population is composed of psychopaths and most of them aren’t the homicidal criminals we envision.”

The Golden Couple comes out 3/8.

Marissa and Matthew begin therapy with Avery. Avery once was a phsycologist but got her licesne revoked due to her unique practices. Marissa cheated on Matthew and unleashes that information in their sesson. This story about the golden couple touches on marriage, blackmail, death of a loved one, a stalker and so much more. I love books about relationships and love books about therapy or psychologists. This would make a great television show or movie. I am such a fan of Hendricks and Pekkanen and knew this would not disappoint. You can count on this being a hit book and on many TBR lists.

A married couple who seemingly has it all seeks out an unconventional therapist for infidelity. There's more to their story than meets the eye and this therapist has her work cut out for her. It was OK but nothing like the thrill of the authors' first novel. By the time this story wrapped up, it felt rather underwhelming. The therapist angle was by far they most creative and interesting part of the story. The rest of it was meh.

A quick synopsis. Matthew and Marissa are considered the perfect couple with a perfect family but there must be more than meets the eye. Marissa is lonely and feels abandoned by her husband. Matthew is constantly working and leaving Marissa to deal with everything else including raising their son.
Marissa turns to Avery for help. She lost her license due to her unconventional practice. Ten sessions and your life will be changed but honesty is key. Avery knows that the couple is hiding something and that there is no way this couple has solved their issues this fast. She is starting to doubt her 10 session method will work. But there is one thing that is for certain, there is more than meets the eye on this relationship.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It is told from Marissa, the wife’s POV, and Avery, the consultant, which I found complimented the progression of the story. The characters were relatable even with all their imperfections. The story had many twists and turns some of which I predicted but others that completely blindsided me. The twists were all realistic in the context of the story.
I found myself yearning to know more about Avery’s practice. You get a glimpse into a couple of patients she has helped in the past.
I cannot wait for this book to be released! I highly recommend reading this book and pre-ordering the book, it’s expected release date is March 8, 2022.

I will be posting on my Tiktok and on my Instagram my review in the week leading up to the release.

4.5 Stars (I received an e-arc from Net Galley)

I have read almost all the books that this duo have written and I think this book is my favourite. We not only follow Avery the therapist, we also follow both points of view of the married couple. Reading this story is like being in a crazy mind maze, feeling like anything could jump out at you and thinking you have figured where the plot is going. However you do have to suspend some disbelief, as some of the things she does and her methods for therapy can be extreme, some probably not legal. The ending wasn’t what I was expecting, but not in a bad way. I flew through this book in a couple days, anyone who reads and loves thrillers will enjoy this one.

Rated 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the digital advanced copy of this book. I offer my review freely. Publication date 08 Mar 2022.

After cheating on her husband, Marissa hires former therapist Avery to help her and her husband, Matthew, through it all. Avery has developed a method that can apparently fix any problem in only 10 sessions. While Avery looks into helping the couple, she finds out that they are a lot more complicated than she originally thought.

This book has a slow start. Really slow. It picks up in the second half of the book and definitely kept me hooked. I found Avery quite stalker-ish, and that was a bit off-putting; however, I did enjoy reading about all the new leads she was uncovering. There are some nice twists happening, but it's essential to suspend your disbelief. It was often farfetched. Also, the Acelia storyline was 100% unecessary. Definitely not my favourite psychological thriller, but a fairly good read overall.
