Wow what a twisty thriller!!! Marissa and Matthew seem like a perfect couple. But not everything is perfect! Marissa has an affair. She wants to save her marriage because she actually does love her husband and also for the sake of their son. Marissa decides they will go to couple's counselling with Avery Chambers. She has lost her license due to her methods. All three people are hiding huge secrets and take the reader on quite the ride! I enjoyed the twists and turns and many I didn't see coming! I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for electronic copy to read and review.

WOW - this was sooooo good. I love that the story was told from two perspectives. I don't know that there was a big twist, per se. The story unfolded so well, with just the right amount of suspense, information, and intrigue. Imagine a web slowly, but steadily, closing in on you. This is that story and it was amazing!

Reading a Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen novel is like navigating a maze in the dark. You'll feel your way around, maneuver the twists and turns, meander around in circles until you've found the way out-only to discover you're right back where you started. The Golden Couple is their latest thriller, and it's a steamroll of lies, deception, duplicity and danger-everything you'd expect from this talented duo. The plot seems simple enough-a young couple seeks marriage counseling because of infidelity-but that's barely scratching the surface of what's going on. What's really clever about The Golden Couple is how the characters are connected. Nothing is accidental, and no one is inconsequential-but figuring out how it all fits together is the challenge. The Golden Couple defies stereotype with an unfaithful wife instead of the usual wayward husband, yet is a classic cliche-it features a seemingly perfect couple who appear to have it all-money, good looks, beautiful home, fulfilling careers-but their shiny exterior is a facade. The Golden Couple moves slowly at first then wallops you at the end with a series of escalating revelations. It's a glossy book about some very tarnished people.

A beautiful couple both harboring secrets seeks help from an ex-therapist, hoping to salvage their marriage. Instead of uncovering secrets and lies, more are created; will the couple's marriage ever be the same?

The Golden Couple is my first read from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, but I had been hearing phenomenal things about their other thrillers. Devouring this book less than twelve hours after starting it, I definitely have a new favorite thriller. I could not put this one down and loved getting to develop theories throughout it (all of which were wrong). I loved how every character had their secrets, and there were moments when I gasped at what happened in the plot! I will be recommending this thriller forever, and I cannot wait to see it in stores!

Content warning for cheating, stalking, violence.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen!

I just finished this one on #audiobook and while it kept my interest, this wasnt a favorite by the duo. I think its because I havent had enough time to put solid hours into an audiobook and I wasnt reaching for it because it felt slow to me. I did think some of the twists and turns were fun and a unique take on couple / therapist relationships. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of The Golden. This is the third book I've read by this writing duo and is the one I've most enjoyed. Marissa and Matthew are more or less the 'golden couple,' until they aren't when Marissa cheats. Wanting to fix her marriage because she loves Matthew and also for the sake of their son, she takes the advice of a friend when a therapist is recommended. Enter Avery Chambers. Chambers claims to be able to 'fix you in 10 sessions,' or she won't take you on as a client. That sounds promising, especially when the 'golden couple' approach-- but what if everything at the surface isn't quite true, then what?? If you enjoy thrillers and/or the 'husband/wife' dramas that have recently come about, give this one a try.

I absolutely loved this book. Multiple layers of intrigue expertly handled, with lots of suspense, some great twists, and everything coming together beautifully in the end. There is never a sense that something a plot development or connection between characters is too much of a coincidence because the authors do such a great job of tying everything together so that it makes total sense. As is the case with the prior books I've read by this duo, the writing is always excellent and all the characters, including secondary ones, are well developed. Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC of this highly recommended book.

The Golden Couple draws the reader in from the very start. The premise is unique- a therapist who doesn't have to adhere to restrictions of her formal field, so she does things the way she knows works, however unconventional her methods may be.

Her clients are a couple with secrets. Each one is slowly and carefully and artfully revealed, tempting the reader to put the pieces together and figure out the way they all fit.

It kept me guessing until the end. Changing my mind about how I thought it would turn out, and i wasn't disappointed in the end.

I was so happy to receive a galley copy of the latest book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, the #1 New York Times bestselling author duo behind You Are Not Alone, An Anonymous Girl, and The Wife Between Us.. Their teamwork and creativity never disappoint.

This book was not what I expected. It was my first Hendricks/Pekkanen combo and I did NOT expect all the twists and turns this book would take! Just when you thought you had it figured out? Oh, oh no you didn't!! I stayed up late into the night reading this, but it was worth it. A wonderful story. 10/10.

These authors really are the masters of suspense! Although it's not my favorite book they have written the twists and secrets kept me intrigued.

I will read absolutely anything Greer and Sarah write. The duo is unmatched when it comes to page-turning thrillers and this one is a great read! They did an amazing job bringing us into the lives of these characters and throwing us a total curveball at the end. I knew the golden couple would turn out to not be so golden but wow, the twists and turns at the end had me up reading late into the night. Thank you to these two fantastic authors for consistently creating great reads and keeping us all at the edge of our seat!

What a harrowing literary adventure! I absolutely loved this book. It was such a good, twisty narrative.

Told between Avery, a therapist who lost her license due to unconventional therapy and Marissa who seeks out Avery because she had an affair on her husband Mathew. Avery injects herself into every aspect of her clients lives, more like a private investigator. But when everyone is keeping secrets can the marriage really be saved?

Wow….. this author duo can really weave a story! The character development is spot on and honestly please please write other books with Avery! This would make a great series! I devoured this book and not because it was twist after twist but the writing was just excellent. The build up was like a zit that finally pops! 🤣

Amazing job!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this advanced copy!

Thank you to @stmartinspress and @netgalley for the eARC of The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen..

The Golden Couple tells the story of Marissa and Matthew; "The Golden Couple.". The seem to have it all. But when Marissa cheats on Matthew they seek help from a therapist; Avery. Soon, strange things start happening and Matthew gets attacked. Could it be that Marissa's one night stand won't let it go? Or, is her one night stand someone that Matthew knows? Just what is going on?

Told from 2 different POV's, The Golden Couple keeps you guessing right up to the end. It's a fast paced read and I flew through this one! I was, however, disappointed with the twist and the ending. It just seemed a little out there.

Overall, an enjoyable read!

Avery Chambers is a certain type of unorthodox therapist. She guarantees that if her patients follow her methods in 10 sessions, they will succeed in saving their marriages.

Marissa knows she needs help saving her marriage with Matthew and after finding an article about Avery, she immediately sets up an appointment for the two of them, where she explains to Matthew that she had an affair.

What follows is a fast-paced, spell-binding novel that alternates between Marissa and Avery’s perspectives. There are so many twists and this novel will definitely keep the reader on their toes until the very last page.

I would call this a really slow burn. Yes, there were things happening but nothing that knocked me off my feet. Kinda saw the ending coming (from both POV's).

I dont have a whole lot to say about this book. It was alright.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC.

“I slept with someone.”
The Golden Couple
Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

Not the words you want to hear from your spouse. But they've got Avery on the job.

Avery, a recently ousted therapist with risky measures and a stellar track record, doesn't know who she's dealing with when Matthew and Marissa walk into her office.

They're late for their first appointment, and Marissa has gotten Matthew there under pretenses and then drops a bomb two minutes into their session.

They will require a lot of “work,” but Avery is up for the task.

I loved this story setup, and GH AND SP do psychological thrillers so well. There were a few therapist-angle novels recently, and this one is one of the most interesting.

I do feel like it lacks a bit of depth. A lot of the concepts and characterizations feel surface level. But I believe readers looking for a quick and light, fast-paced thriller will appreciate this one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio and St. Martins Press for this advanced copy!

This book was a great psychological thriller! The characters are all flawed in their own ways and this creates a twisted story that isn't resolved until the end.
