What a really gripping novel! I listened to this one on audio (mostly), and I loved the alternating perspectives and how you couldn't trust any of the characters. I did find some parts of the 'twist' and the end a bit far fetched but enjoyed the whole lead up so much that it didn't bother me too much.

This is by far the best book I've read by this duo!

By far this was my favorite book of the year! After reading so many thrillers, I can sometimes figure out the ending mid way, however, I was NOT prepared for this twist! These authors never disappoint and I hope they continue to write books together because this partnership is perfection!

If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in 10 sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. She has an outstanding success rate and lost her license to practice after her unorthodox methods were caught on tape and reviewed. Avery lost her husband to cancer and has a step-daughter she is fond of as well. Her social circle is very small. Marissa and Mathew have been called the Golden Couple. Successful, attractive and wealthy. They have one young son and Marissa has few friends like her childhood friend Tina who was murdered one night in the summer before they began college. Matthew does still have several friend from that time including Natalie and Skip. Marissa engages Avery's services to reveal to her husband that she had a one night affair and that she wants to repair their marriage. When Marissa and Matthew begin their relationship with Avery, the thread that binds them together is both elusive and clear at the same time. Avery also has a mysterious stalker who is related to a pharmaceutical company who believes she is the whistleblower for a drug that they were forced to pull after information was reported regarding its adverse effects.
This is a fantastic psychological thriller. At times I wondered if one or more of the characters was actually living an alternative life, as in Lehane's Shutter Island. The ending was certainly unexpected. Great job!

This was such a thrilling, interesting novel. It really kept me guessing through the entire story and I had trouble putting it down. The authors are rapidly becoming two of my favorites!

I have been honoured to be given advanced copies of three novels by the writing Dream Team of Sarah Pekannen and Greer Hendricks (The Anonymous Girl, The Wife Between Us and You Are Not Alone), and I was overjoyed to receive their newest collab, “The Golden Couple”.
Since her husband’s death, Avery Chambers has lost her license to practice therapy, but still utilizes her “ten step” treatment to a select few clients. When Marissa and Matthew Bishop approach Avery for help repairing their marriage, Avery is surprised that this gorgeous, successful and seemingly happy “golden couple” require therapy at all but she’s willing to give it a shot. As the couple reveals their past secrets, Avery begins to understand the skeletons in their closet, and is convinced she can help them. However, Avery soon realizes that she is connected to the Bishop’s in ways she never knew, and all three of them have deep-rooted secrets that could ruin everything.
“The Golden Couple” alternates narration between the two protagonists Avery and Marissa, each chapter being voiced by one of the women. For the majority of the novel, I was confused as to what role Avery played, as it seemed Avery had the potential for a storyline all her own, and she did not seem to fit into the Marissa and Matthew plotline. However, as the final chapters played out, Avery’s role was finally cemented, and she emerged as a main character, instead of a bit player haphazardly shoved into the Bishop’s storyline.
Both Avery and Marissa were likable characters, and they were easy to relate to. Hendricks and Pekkanen added enough personality to the other characters (such as Marissa’s assistant Polly, Matthew’s father and of course, Marissa’s tryst partner, Skip) that all of them were suspicious from page one. I did not predict how this one would end, and characters that I initially enjoyed become utterly unlikable (and vice versa) by the final pages.
With a well-written plot and the right amount of twisty suspense, Hendricks and Pekkanen deliver the kind of pulse-pounding entertainment that I have come to expect from the pair. “The Golden Couple” will no doubt be the talked-about book of next year.

You can’t go wrong with a Hendricks and Pekkanen thriller. I’ve read them all and enjoyed every one of them. The Golden Couple was a suspenseful read that kept me glued to the story. Told from two alternating perspectives, Avery - a couple’s therapist who lost her licence but continues to treat couples using an unconventional treatment method, and Marissa - who has cheated on her husband Matthew and they begin working with Avery to save their marriage.

This book was full of hidden surprises and small twists. The characters were nicely carved out and the plot moved along at just the right pace. The only weakness was the ending in that it didn’t quite live up to the build up. The build up was so riveting it felt as though the reader was being promised something very big was to come but then didn’t quite deliver at the ninth hour. The ending was good but just didn’t live up to the rest of the plot. Definitely worth reading this book if you love a good psychological thriller.

A gracious thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A fabulous psychological thriller. It kept me guessing to the very end. I throughly enjoyed this book. The narration was done well too.

I am a big fan of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen books but this one may have been my favorite yet. Avery has a different approach to working with her clients, in fact, it's so different she's no longer holding a license to practice therapy. Instead of killing her business its made her business flourish. Marissa and Matthew Bishop appear to be the perfect couple on the outside, both have thriving careers, they have a beautiful home and an adorable son. Life couldn't be better. That is until Marissa cheater and wants to repair her marriage. The Bishops find themselves on Avery's couch which sets all three of them on a course no one can imagine. This one had me guessing up until the last minute and truthfully had me snowed until the last few pages!

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this book prior to publication.

I have never read anything by this duo, but I love mysteries and thrillers and I have heard great things about their books. Avery is a therapist with a very specific method in her work - 10 sessions, in and out. If her clients do not cooperate with her methods, their time is done. Marissa hears about Avery's method and wants help with her marriage to Matthew. They seem like the golden couple, but there is much more going on. Whistleblowing, stalking, secrets, lies, and coverup - who has the corner on the truth in this book? This was a fast-paced thriller with many twists and turns, and I can't wait to read more by this writing team. It would be great to read more books with Avery as well! I give this 4.5 stars.

**4/5 Stars**

I received Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s The Golden Couple as an advanced reviewer copy. This is the fourth thriller I’ve read from the writing pair, and once again it was a homerun of a read. If I had to pick a favorite book from the coauthors, I’d pick An Anonymous Girl.

This book follows a Avery Chambers, a famed psychologist who has decided to take a non-traditional approach to treating clients. As a result of her unconventional treatments, she has lost her license. She has also lost her husband, and there are some questions regarding the circumstances leading to his death. Needless to say, things aren’t perfect for Avery.

Avery takes on new clients – Marissa and Mathew – who seem perfect in every way. They are beautiful, poised, and seem to have successful careers. Despite outward appearances, there is turmoil in their relationship. Marissa cheated on Mathew, and it is up to Avery to mend things before the couple ends up divorcing.

Both Avery and Marissa begin to experience concerning incidents that lead them to believe they are being stalked or followed. Avery’s former client, who revealed ethical concerns regarding a pharmaceutical company that Avery then reported to the FDA, is angry at her, and the pharmaceutical company is on Avery’s tail.

This was a super quick, thrilling read for me. I found the characters to be engaging with interesting backstories. I did figure out what was going on fairly quickly, but I read a lot of thrillers.

Thank you to the authors, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this book!

The Golden Couple by Sarah Pekkanen and Greer Hendricks kept me guessing until the very end. The subtlety here ... *chef's kiss* I didn't see that ending coming. Hendricks and Pekkanen seem to be bettering their craft and really coming into their own. Bravo!

Special kudos for working with Marin Ireland on the audiobook. She does such a great job narrating.

A big thank-you to the authors, publisher, and NetGalley for a copy of the ARC. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Golden Couple is a domestic thriller I was so excited to read. I have read and enjoyed this duo's previous books, so I was excited to get an advanced copy. Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley!

This book is told from two points of view. Marissa is the mom, wife and the one who hurt her marriage and will do anything to save it. Avery is the therapist who apparently uses unconventional methods to help her clients.....not too sure there was anything unconventional about what she did though. Regardless, Avery is trying to help Marissa and her husband, Matthew get their marriage back on track. Everything seems to be going according to Averys plans but someone keeps messing with this Golden Couple.

While there is mystery and suspense, I found the book to be at a slower pace. Not to the point where I became bored but I would have like more action. There are several side characters who will make you question their roles in the whole ordeal. I can honestly say I didn't trust any of them. There are also some senerios that didn't really flow well with the story and when I reached the ending, it just felt very unnecessary. For example,  the whole Alicea thing. I just didn't get it at all.

For me, this isn't my favorite from this clever duo but give it a shot. I'm looking forward to what they give us next.

Everyone knows a "perfect couple." The ones who seem to have everything together, who fit each other like a hand in a glove, in personality, appearance, and life ambitions. At least, it always looks that way from the outside.

Mathew and Marissa Bishop are that kind of couple. But she is harboring a secret that is torturing her so much, she arranges to see a couples therapist, and shocks Mathew with this information.

Avery Chambers is that therapist. She lost her license due to her unconventional methods, but they seem to work, so she remains highly sought after. She takes on the Bishop's case, but this one is different.

There are more secrets than anyone knows in this marriage.

I loved the twists and turns in this book. It's a slow burn thriller, but I couldn't put it down. I was left guessing until the end, which is unusual for me. This is another great triumph for the thriller genre from Hendricks and Pekkanen.

I have enjoyed all of this writing pair’s other books so was looking forward to this one. As they usually do, they spun a tangled web with a lot of twists and turns. There was a lot going on in this book and I wasn’t sure how they were going to tie it together in a credible way, but they did. I kept going back and forth on what I thought was going to happen, so that was good writing on their part. A quick, engrossing read.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ ++ Stars!
Avery Chambers won’t take on any new clients unless she is sure she can ‘fix them’ in her 10 magic sessions. She does take on ‘Golden Couple’ Marissa and Matthew Bishop. They certainly seem like a golden couple as they appear to have everything. However, Melissa has cheated on Matthew and believes she needs Avery’s assistance in telling him. Session One is entitled Confession.
Avery’s method of therapy is highly controversy as the ten session are based on core emotions
…fear, anger, sadness, and happiness~ each session has a specific title and follows the same order ~
clients cannot skip a session.
BTW: Avery lost her license as she states she changed her therapeutic methods. She changed them
when she was treated Cameron by videotaping he and his abusive wife Skylar having an argument
that Avery had instructed Cameron to start. Skylar hacked Cameron’s emails and thus was able to
report Avery’s illegal method of therapy.

There is more going on in this story than just “The Golden Couple”; there are many characters and they all had me curious. Story or stories kept me interested. I love psychological thriller so always try to figure them out. Have to admit I was close ~ nope didn’t have all the details also was completely off base on a few characters!!!

To me Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen are the “Golden Pen Couple”. I have read "The Wife Between us", "An Anonymous Girl" , and "You are not Alone" ~ all were excellent.
These co-authors do not disappoint.

I loved this book! The chapter alternates POV between therapist Avery and golden-wife Marissa. Avery is trying to help Marissa and her husband, Matthew, after Marissa cheated on him. Avery’s practices may be a little unethical after she lost her therapist’s license, but she only requires ten sessions to fix her client’s lives. However Avery finds that this golden couple has a lot of secrets.

This book is filled with lots of twists and turns. Every time I thought I had the storyline figured out something else would happen that changed my mind. I loved seeing the story from both Avery and Marissa’s point of view. They were both flawed characters but I found them highly likable. The writing style is engrossing and is multilayered. This is a great psychological mystery that will keep you reading until the very end.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for my e-arc. The Golden Couple is set to publish March 8, 2022.

I've read all of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen books and knew I had to read this one ASAP. Throughout the entire story, their voice was so clear and it was obvious who's book it was. I don't know if it's better than their previous though. The ending plot twist was somewhat expected. Matthew's "growth" throughout Avery's sessions was unbelievable making the ending less surprising. I'd still probably recommend this book to others, but would probably recommend others by them first.

Avery has her therapy down pat. Ten sessions and your are good to go. When she meets Marissa and Matthew however, things go a bit off course. The two seem like a perfect couple until Marissa announces that she cheated. While they continue their therapy, more secrets are revealed, but the biggest secrets are still the ones unsaid.

Hendricks and Pekkanen are always a win in my book, so when I saw this one I knew I needed to get my hands on a copy! I will say this one is a slow burn, but it was so worth it! I did not see the twist coming, and the book kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen. If you have enjoyed this duos books in the past, this one will not disappoint!

I always enjoy a book with flawed characters that are fairly likable even with their flaws. This book had me guessing and a bit confused. The main storyline with the "Golden Couple" was a solid story but there were a lot of side stories that I am not quite sure were needed. Some were useful to keep you guessing until the end and some had you scratching your head. Thank you NetGalley for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ahhhh...this book was fantastic.
I love a good thriller and Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are becoming one of my go-to authors for this genre!

These characters were complex and the storyline riveting and all that I want in a psychological thriller. I began this book by reading it and finished listening to the audible (thank you Net Galley and Macmillian audio). Avery, Matthew, and Marissa have a story that will keep you guessing until the last page. The twists, turns, and deceit that takes place in this book is of epic proportions! Just when I thought I figure it out - boom another twist I didn't see coming.
Avery had her own story going on outside of Matthew and Marissa's which was a bonus for me.
I loved every second of it!
