This is fast paced read about Marissa and Matthew Bishop, an outwardly perfect couple. Marissa has been unfaithful in her marriage. She seeks counseling from AveryChambers, a controversial therapist that has lost her license due to unethical practices but continues working as a consultant. Avery promises she will fix her clients in only 10 sessions and has been extremely successful in fulfilling that promise. What begins as a couple dealing with an unfaithful indiscretion ends up revealing many long held secrets in a twist that takes the reader in an unexpected direction.

I read this book anticipating more of the process/promise of therapy resolution in 10 sessions, I am a Psych nerd after all. However, this book focussed on the Couple, some family and work connections, and was a disappointment to me.
Remarks, comments (reflections) of the main female characters seemed lacking in conviction and character strength and annoyingly simplistic.
I read this as an advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was another great thriller from this author duo! I enjoyed the perspective changes between the two leading women in the story. The only thing I didn't love is that one was in 1st person and 1 was in third person, and it was a bit frustrating for me. I wish they had both been in the same perspective. Other than that though, the story was fabulous. It's a great thriller that you don't want to put down! I loved all the secrets and the surprising twists!

I liked this book a lot. This author duo knows how to keep you engaged. I could see this being a really great movie.

The strongest book by this duo so far! With multiple story lines and character POVs, I was concerned about how disjointed the book was and was worried it would not come together well - but it did! This book kept me guessing the whole time.

Faced paced Thriller/suspense with some nice twists I didn't see coming.
Avery is an unconventional and unlicensed therapist, who claims she has the formula to fix problems in ten sessions. When the guilt of cheating on her husband gets to Meredith, her and Matthew hire Avery. But there are a lot of secrets, lies, and some unexpected plot turns that kept me turning the pages.

Wow! Another terrific book by these authors. The book takes place in Washington, DC. Marissa and Matthew, parents of 8-year old Bennett, seek out marriage counseling with therapist Avery. The story is told from two perspectives: Marissa and Avery. The characters are complex with intriguing backstories, and the writing is smart and clever. Highly recommend this book and their previous books!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pakkanen.

Avery is a therapist who has lost her license for using unconventional techniques to help her clients. But that doesn't mean that she hasn't had success, and people still seek her services because she serves off of the beaten trail.

Marissa has sought Avery Bishop out to help her and her husband Matthew. Their relationship seems perfect, but Marissa has been cheating on Matthew and she desperately wants to make amends. So begins the enmeshed relationship between Avery and the Bishops. But while Avery was once confident that she had what it took to help them, they may be more than she is cut out to help...

Very fun, very intriguing. The audiobook had two narrators which I love to keep the characters separate. The story hooked me right away. I loved the slow unfolding of the story, and all of the bubbling secrets that you could see right beneath the surface. Well written and very enjoyable.

This book was my first book by these 2 authors, but it won’t be the last! It was fast paced and super twisty! I love books that I don’t figure the twists out and this was definitely the case for this one!

I read a lot of suspense/thrillers and want to be surprised at the twist. It's disappointing when it's too easy to figure out. The Golden Couple certainly met my criteria. I didn't see the twist until the revelation. The authors kept me guessing, and that's what I love. They gave enough red herrings and misdirections to provide a great read.

I also love a well-done back-and-forth POV shift and The Golden Couple again didn't disappoint. Having the main character in 1st person and the 2ndary in third seemed like the perfect and obvious choice for presenting this story.

I usually take weeks to finish a book, but not with this one. I read it in only a few sittings.

The Golden Couple by dynamic duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is a wild ride of a thriller. Told in switching perspectives from wife Meredith Bishop and unconventional therapist (er...consultant) Avery Bishop, readers are in for a constant game of questioning who is being honest, who is lying, and who is in danger.

When Meredith and husband Matthew arrive for counseling with Avery, Meredith confesses that she cheated on her husband and this meeting sets off a chain reaction of events. Some of the plot points are beyond belief a bit, but it's what makes it an engaging read. Plus, the book's setting is Washington, DC, which is always a bonus for me.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

Avery Chambers is either an unethical counselor or a genius counselor. Watch as she navigates the crazy world of Matthew and Marissa, the golden couple to all who know them. They find out that their marriage isn't as strong as most would think, especially when Marissa comes clean about an affair she has had. Did Matthew know about the affair all along? Are they all a pawn in Avery's scheme? What is Grandpas story in all of this? And will the Bishops young son be a victim to them all?

This is a thrill of a ride and I highly recommend it!

Thank you, St. Martin's Press via Netgalley and Macmillan Audio via Libro.fm, for providing me with a copy of this book and ALC by one of my favorite writing pairs who never ever disappoint me! I must say that my favorite character of this book was Avery Chambers - she's a bit of an uncoventional (unlicensed) therapist whose methods are supposed to fix the problem in 10 sessions. I loved her detective like snooping skills. She is one clever lady to figure out some of the things these authors threw at her in this book! I really enjoyed reading/listening to this book and watching the story unfold. There were a few surprises in there I definitely wasn't expecting. Loved this one and can't wait to see what this dynamic duo comes up with next!

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, is a new psychological thriller that will keep you guessing and reading. Avery Chambers, a psychotherapist, only accepts new clients that she can assist in 10 sessions or less. Her new clients, Marissa and Matthew Bigley seem to have the perfect life, until you dig under the surface. Avery accepts the challenge of fixing this couple and their problems. Will Avery be able to put this “golden couple” back together and save their marriage from infidelity and deceit? Not only do the Bigleys have secrets, but Avery’s life isn’t picture perfect either. As you continue to read the book, you will find that Avery is running from something as well. This book possessed all of the qualities of a wonderful psychological thriller and it was impossible to put down. This book should be rated a 6 out of 5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend this title, as well as, these authors.

When the Bishops come to a crossroads in their marriage they are desperate to try and fix what is broken, they want to find a way to trust and love freely again. So, with the suggestion from a friend, they turn to a well known therapist that they hope can get them on the righted on the same path again.

But after they meet Avery Chambers and welcome her into their lives, and she begins to unearth their dirty little secrets they begin wonder if they made a grave mistake...

The Golden Couple is one of those reads that will grab you from the opening lines and not let go until the last ones come. She was supposed to fix their marriage after ten little sessions, but as Avery began to dig into their lives, let their hidden secrets find the light of day, the Bishops began to second guess their decision to hire her. She is wreaking more havoc on their lives then they did themselves!

And as that is all unfolding Avery is also dealing with a little dangerous mystery of her own...

The Golden Couple has all the perfect makings to be a hit with readers, with action, drama, and suspense littered on every page, they'll won't be able to pry their eyes away! I loved this newest offering from this very talented writing duo, their perfectly crafted words kept me up until the wee hours of the morning! Highly recommend!!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

The beginning of this novel drew me right in and then it turned into more of a mystery than what I expected (rather than family drama) and I found it dragged a bit in the middle. The end though - wow - great ending.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an early release in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The Golden Couple... The title alone makes you question from the start the nature of not only Michael and Marissa's relationship, but also that of "anti-therapist," Avery, and her late husband, Paul. Through all the twists and turns -- and there are many!! -- the reader is kept guessing, wondering, then second guessing the various roles each person plays, the secrets they're hiding, and the "confessions" they make. Hendricks and Pekkanen have woven a masterful tale of love, betrayal, family, and intrigue that culminates in one surprise after another. The twisting and turning plot will grab you then keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommended!!
