Another GREAT page-turner by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen!! I couldn't put it down and every time I thought I had the story figured out, they put another twist in the story. Everyone I recommended "The Wife Between Us" to came back looking for another great read and now they have it! Don't read too much about what this book is about, just know it starts with an affair and ends where you never imagined! I highly recommend this book and these authors. They are fast becoming my favorites.

This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Things are not always what they seem. What seems to be a golden couple goes into therapy to make their relationship stronger. The cracks are starting to show as they go through therapy and a incident from the past definitely comes to light - but things are not what they seem and will have you guessing until the end. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book kept me wondering what was happening between the couple - we knew that there had to be more than met the eye - and boy was there! Quite a twist at the end..

🌹BOOK REVIEW🌹 I've read several other books by this author duo and loved them, so I was super excited to receive an ARC of their newest psychological thriller, The Golden Couple! 💑

I wanted to love this book so bad, but it just moved so slowly 🐌. I spent 3/4 of the book wondering what the point of the book was and struggling to get engaged with the characters or plot ...Towards the end, though, the pace drastically picked up and I enjoyed all of the twists! But it was a bit of slog for me to get through the first 3/4.

For those who love long-game, slow burn psychological thrillers, this will be your cup of tea!

Thanks to @netgalley @stmartinspress
and the authors for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review! This releases March 8, 2022!

Another Could. Not. Put. Down. thrilling, suspenseful novel from this talented author duo. My favourite character was Avery and my favourite part was near the end when the twist was revealed. I did not see that coming and I love being surprised! So much fun reading a awesome novel that has a OMG ending!!

The Golden Couple was a fun read and in fact throughout a portion of the book in the beginning I forgot I was reading a thriller.
This book is about a couple who on the surface appears to have everything. They visit an unconventional therapist who has lost her license but doesn’t seem to care as her methods are effective anyway.
The publisher has a great synopsis of the plot so I don’t need to go into too much detail here.
A good portion of the book is to build the characters and set up details of the plot and the “thriller” part comes in much later. I thought this way of writing the book was intriguing as it made me want to keep reading to understand what was going to happen.
You will be kept guessing as to what is really going on and that helps make a book very interesting.
This was a very enjoyable read!

What a fun twisty book! Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen kept me guessing with their new thriller, "The Golden Couple." I loved Avery Chambers, the ex-therapist who's more of a private investigator-slash-counselor now. This was a fun, fast read that will likely be very buzzy next year!

Avery Chambers has lost her license to practice as a therapist, and that’s fine with her.

Operating now as a “consultant”, Avery’s clients receive her own brand of tough-love healing: an intensive ten-session extremely hands-on program, with Avery serving her clients by owning as many hats as she sees fit - including loosely-legal surveillance and investigative work; take-command quasi-parenting (with just a tinge of bullying); and oodles of psychological counseling.

You won’t meet another main protagonist quite like Avery, (whose first person POV provides the narrative backdrop to this suspenseful tale) and whose strong-armed tactics are balanced beautifully for us with brief and tantalizing glimpses into her uniquely moral code.

“When new clients come to me with a confession, it’s often camouflage for their actual issue, which exists below the surface of their conscious lives”.

In this case, the story is of a marriage that may be unraveling, a "golden couple”, with so many lies and secrets to reveal you will no doubt find yourself every bit as intrigued as Avery as this story unfolds.

Layers of camouflage and red-herrings abound as Avery works with Marissa and Matthew, a couple who seems to have it all, but as Avery is quick to point out, their revelations tend to lack emotive substance.

“That’s an instagram post - give me something real”.

I had great fun getting to the bottom of this tricky and complex tale, and thoroughly enjoyed my visit with Avery, her kamikaze "consulting" (and her heart-breakingly adorable adopted pup).

A great big thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All thoughts presented are my own.

Every couple has secrets- but do they let their therapist in on them? That question is the basis of this book. We have Avery, a therapist who goes a bit rogue, loses her license to practice, and begins taking on clients and treating them with less than conventional methods. Overall, it was a solid read with interesting characters and plot points, but as someone who reads a lot of these kinds of books, I was expecting an ending with more of a wow factor. Still a fast and fun read nonetheless.

Great story and kept me on suspense of who the real killer was. I loved the therapist and trying to solve the mystery about the golden couple. loved the different point of views. This book kept me reading of who would murder, stalk or even play with the family.

The Golden Couple follows Avery, whose unconventional therapy methods are promised to work within 10 sessions. Losing her license was the best thing to ever happen to her business, because now she can go all in. Marissa and Matthew Bishop hire her to help with their relationship after Marissa cheats on her husband. Everyone thought they were the golden couple, but more and more twists and turns come up as they work through their issues.

The Golden Couple intrigued me from the very first page. There were tons of peculiar characters, red herrings and mysterious moments, making it hard to guess where the story was going. It was the best kind of slow burn, keeping you right in the story. Sure, there wasn't a mind blowing twist, but the suspense throughout the book was what made it a great thriller. The writing wasn't perfect, I found it a bit rudimentary at times, but the enjoyment of the book wasn't hindered by that. An original domestic thriller.

"The Golden Couple" is a sloooow burn that focuses more on the build-up of the characters until about 60 percent of the novel. That's when the action finally kicks into high gear. Throughout the book, the characters become more and more unreliable, and Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen deliver a solid thriller.

I loved the premise of a therapist who promises results within 10 sessions - without a license - and the people who seek her unconventional, all-access guidance. The book grabbed me right from the start, but I kept waiting for that special something to elevate this book.

There's a lot going on with this book that it verges on too much between therapist Avery (her past, her stalker, her former clients) and her picture-perfect clients Marissa and Mathew (their relationship problems, their history, a murder, Marissa's suspicious employee). Even though the novel kept my interest, the plot was, unfortunately, too busy.

If you're looking for a thriller filled with unreliable characters and mystery, "The Golden Couple" is a gripping novel filled with twists and turns.

Every book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is amazing and this is no different! Avery is a therapist that just takes on Marissa and her husband as clients. The Instagram worthy couple is dealing with infidelity, but Avery realizes there is so much more going on and a lot of secrets being kept. Through the twist and turns of the book, you realize that all of the characters are bound in some crazy way.

An interesting view into the lives of a couple who people think have it all together. That is not quite right. They have differences like all couples do. When they start going to a therapist, it seems like their problems can be resolved because there is more going on in their lives than other people could even guess. Quite a surprise at the end of the book! Stick with it!!

another binge-able Hendricks & Pekkanen thriller! set in DC, THE GOLDEN COUPLE Marissa & Matthew and unconventional, unlicensed therapist Avery. indeed, Avery is such an active psychological investigator that at times she plays more of a detective than a therapist. THE GOLDEN COUPLE opens with Marissa & Matthew seeking couples therapy to fix their marriage. But the characters & plot become more complex, twisting & turning than ordinary couples counseling. as a DC-based advanced-copy reader, I noticed a mention of a Ferris wheel at the Wharf when the Wharf actually doesn’t have a Ferris wheel in reality. National Harbor is the site with a Ferris wheel. I didn’t love or find any of the characters fascinating. still, Hendricks & Pekkanen are such talented writers, producing a high-quality story.
