This is a fast-paced, suspense novel with plenty of twists and turns that kept me engaged to the last page.

Avery Chambers has lost her license as a therapist due to her unorthodox methods. Now promoting herself as a consultant, she continues to see select clients in an expensive, ten-session program to fix whatever issue is at hand – which often is not what the client thinks it is. Part counselor, part detective, Avery digs deeply into her client’s personal and professional lives to unearth their secrets that underlie their distress.

Marissa and Matthew Bishop book an appointment under the guise that their son has been bullied at school. They present as an attractive, well-dressed, affluent couple. Marissa owns her own boutique and Matthew is a named partner in his law firm. The session begins with an explosive confession from Marissa that they are not there to discuss their son; rather, she tells her husband she has slept with another man.

The storyline unfolds in alternate chapters giving Avery and Marissa’s perspectives. There is a host of supporting characters that provide intrigue as Avery unearths the deceptions and potential threats associated with Marissa’s infidelity. To compound the suspense, Avery, herself, must contend with a powerful drug company out for revenge due to her role in a whistleblower complaint to the FDA.

None of the characters were particularly sympathetic – each seemed to have their own hidden agendas that leave much doubt about their motives. I did surmise the true antagonist before it was revealed, but it did not detract from my enjoyment of the story. Additionally there is one twist at the end that I didn’t see coming, which added a dimension to the conclusion.

My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This review is being posted immediately to my GoodReads account and will be posted on Amazon upon publication.

This book is told in duel perspectives between a therapist Avery and the woman in the couple Avery is treating, Marissa. Marissa seeks Avery out for marriage counseling in order to her husband she cheated on him. From there their stories collide and Avery is anything but a "typical" therapist.

I enjoyed the story and it came to an explosive end. Definitely the book for you if you enjoy messy marriages. I did feel like it got a little unfocused in some parts and had me wondering why something were relevant to the story.

While the title could definitely refer to the duo who penned this novel, it's a reference to Marissa and Matthew, clients of rogue therapist Avery. Avery lost her license but still continues a private practice with the guarantee that she can fix her clients in ten sessions. Her methods are invasive and unethical, but she produces results.

Marissa has been carrying around the guilt of an indiscretion, and through the advice of a friend, sought out Avery's help so she could confess to Matthew and begin the steps to repair their marriage. But it seems that Matthew has been keeping secrets too, and soon shocking revelations about all three come to light. Who is keeping the biggest secret of all?

I have been a fan of this duo since their first book, and this story exceeded my expectations. The characters were expertly crafted, the plot was engaging, and the twists were effortlessly woven in. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to have a finished copy on my shelf next to their others.

I was excited to get this early copy and have read all books by these two and it did not disappoint. Avery was hands down my favorite in the story. I wish they had been a little more action in the first half but I enjoyed the pick up of pace.

I received a free e-arc of this book through Netgalley.
Avery lost her license as a therapist, but that hasn't stopped her from trying to help people improve their lives. Now she is helping Marissa who wants to confess something to her husband. There are many, many twists and turns in this book, but it kept my interest so I would recommend it.

Thanks to NetGalley for my gifted copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. The Golden Couple is a fun thriller/mystery about a couple who sells therapy to work through a recent indiscretion. Marisa and Matthew appear on the outside to be in a perfect marriage but when Marissa admits to infertility, they need help from Avery, a rouge therapist whose recently lost her license. As Avery digs deeper into Marissa and Matthew’s lives, she ends up getting way more than she’s bargained for.
This books is twisty and turny and there are a couple things you don’t see coming. Fun read and would recommend to any fans of the authors previous works.

What an amazing thriller/suspense novel, Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this novel. it's a first for me to read a book by these authors Greer Hendricks; Sarah Pekkanen, I will be looking for their other novels
This novel kept me turning the pages, brilliantly thought out plot, I did not see it ending the way it did, what a surprise
The novel is set and narrated from 3 view points but not confusing at all. Marissa is married to Matthew, she has decided that they need to see a counsellor so that she can admit to an infidelity. Avery explains how the meetings will work and what she expects from them and that she will help them to get through this ordeal in 10 sessions. Little does Avery know what she is getting into, and she is dealing with her own issues after losing her husband not too long ago. Marissa and Matthew start to follow Avery's rules to try and save their marriage, but then things start to feel strange to Marissa and Avery's undercover work becomes more than she expected.
My description does not do the book justice, the story is easy to follow but so many twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat. The interaction between the characters is so believable. This is a phenomenal book, a must read
Great writing style, looking forward to the next book

I’m having a hard time summarizing how I feel about this book. The first half for me really dragged on and every time I picked it up I found parts I already read forgettable. However, the last half of the book picked up and I’ll give it a 3.5, rounded up to 4.

This book is about Mathew and Marissa Bishop who are deemed “the golden couple.” They seek counseling from Avery, a out-of-the-box counselor to help fix their marriage. The story unravels when one secret after another surfaces.

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

There is a reason Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are two of my favorite authors and The Golden Couple solidifies their ranking! This book will have you side-eyeing the characters throughout while they attempt to repair their marriage through therapy - or maybe not therapy. The twists & turns will have you turning pages to quickly find out what happens with this troubled couple!

Ever since I read Greer Hendrick’s and Sarah Pekkanen’s debut novel, The Wife Between Us, I have been a fan of the writing duo. This is the 4th book I've read by them and it definitely will not be my last. I’m going to be vague with this synopsis because it’s better to know less going into this one:

Avery Chambers is a therapist who promises to fix whatever issues her clients have in only ten sessions. After reading an article in the Washington Post about Avery’s success, Marissa is hopeful that Avery can help her and her husband Mathew. During the couple's initial meeting with Avery, Marissa reveals to her husband a huge secret.

The story alternates between Marissa and Avery’s points of view. The chapters are shorter and with a lot of action, which makes for a very fast read.

The Golden Couple had me hooked from the first page to the end. There are several major twists in this book so I stopped trying to predict what would happen next. Every time I thought I had everything figured out, something explosive would happen and I would be blindsided.

I adored both Marissa and Avery as well as the other characters in this book.
From the charming to the detestable, this book has such a vast array of personalities. I also loved how this book wrapped every single thing up at the end and didn't leave any questions unanswered.

I have to say out of all 4 books I've read by the duo, The Golden Couple has by far been my favorite. Like all of their prior works, this book was very well written with complex characters and several plot twists. I look forward to reading whatever they write next.

I highly recommend The Golden Couple along with their prior works, The Wife Between Us, and An Anonymous Girl. If you are a fan of Liv Constantine, or Sally Hepworth then you will like Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.

The Golden Couple will be available on March 8, 2022, from St. Martin’s Press. Many thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

This was a twisty, compulsive read that kept me guessing right until the very end! The short chapters and alternating narrators also contributed to a tense feeling and sense of foreboding that doesn't let up!

Thank you to NetGalley, Greer Hendricks, and Sarah Pekkanen for this E-ARC in exchange for my honest feedback and review.

Marissa and Matthew meant at the coast when they were teenagers. They fell in love and have been together ever since. They have a beautiful home and successful careers. They also have a sweet son Bennett. Life seems so perfect but is it ever really perfect? Avery is a recently disbarred therapist whose unconventional methods seem extreme but have seen great results. Marissa calls to get therapy started for her and Matthew, unbeknownst to him it is regarding Marissa's infidelity. Marissa's confession leads to more questions and secrets between them. Secrets held for too long can be deadly.

Let me start off by saying I love the writing team duo of Sarah Hendrixs and Sarah Pekkanen. They never disappoint and this book is no exception. I loved this twisty story of who what why. Secrets and lies are never good in a marriage. I am recommending every lover of all things twisty, thriller, and mysteriousness to get this book and read ASAP.

Melissa and Mathew Bishop seek the counseling services of Avery after Melissa's bout of infidelity. Avery is not not the average therapist as she has lost her license and charges a high price with the promise to fix one's problems in only ten sessions. In the typical Hendricks and Pekkanen fashion, not everything is what it seems and everyone has a secret.

I did not fall in love with every GH and SP book that I have read so far, but this one was probably one of the more enjoyable ones. The characters, especially Avery, were well fleshed out and the overall wrap up of the story was not completely unbelievable. Honestly, I have never been able to fully put my finger on the twists that these ladies deliver in their books so the ride is always fun.

This mystery/thriller kept me reading the story of the “perfect” couple that seeks an out of the ordinary therapist after an infidelity. This therapist lost her license, but is in high demand because she claims to be able to solve any issue in ten sessions. There are many twists and turns. I appreciate that the characters are well developed.

I am grateful to be able to recommend this book after receiving an advance copy through Net galley for my unbiased review.

This book was like a warm beverage for the soul. I was sucked in and could not put it down! The concept was so unique, I loved this book.

I was at S&S when Greer was an editor so I enjoy following her career. This is actually the first book of the duo that I really liked; the twists and turns were well earned and it didn't feel like a retread of a million different books before. The only thing off was the identity of the murderer from several decades prior; too much around that wasn't fully explored even though it seemed to play a huge role in the life of several main characters.

As usual I Loved this novel by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. They work so well together and really just craft amazing books. This one had me guessing till the very end he even after the main story you are shocked him by a secondary one.
