Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have done it again! This was a good thriller, even if a couple of the twists were easy to figure out. I liked the characters and I enjoyed getting to read this book.

Another fantastic story from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I was intrigued by the premise of the golden couple that may not be what they seem…but then the story hooked me, and the ending twist came out of nowhere! Definitely recommend and can’t wait to read more from these authors, who are among my favorite mystery/thriller authors.

Another solid thriller from this duo. It did not disappoint - Kept me hooked and guessing until the end.

It had a great start - the therapist spying on her clients and her twisted therapy. It did take a few too many turns for the weird though and then dragged a little. I'd recommend, it's still a good beach book.

Thanks NetGalley for the advance copy

Such a great book by my favorite author-duo. I had tears in my eyes throughout the last few chapters.

Avery, a therapist who has lost her license, does therapy in ten steps: confession, disruption, escalation .... concluding with promises. If she feels her client cannot do the ten steps, she stops the therapy. We see Avery begin with a couple that others call The Golden Couple. I hope we get to read more books about Avery.

This is the fourth book I’ve read by Hendricks-Pekkanen. I would love to read an interview with them to learn how they write together.

Many many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for enriching my life!

Whoa!!! Back up the car! Where did that ending come from?!?!? I love it when a book surprises me, and this one absolutely did. I am way behind on my ARC reviews, but as soon as I received approval for the latest Hendricks/Pekkanen novel, I had to start it immediately. This writing duo has quickly become a favorite of mine. This is the fourth of their novels that I have read, and they are all 5 star reads for me.

The Golden Couple is told in alternating chapters by the two main characters, Avery Chambers and Marissa Bishop. Avery is a therapist whose claim to fame is that she solves complicated issues for her clients in only ten sessions. Marissa is a new client who comes with her husband to Avery for marital counseling. At their first session, which Avery has named "The Confession," Marissa tells her husband that she had a one-time only affair with someone from her gym. Her husband, Matthew, is irate but eventually agrees to try counseling.

Marissa and Matthew come across as every bit "the golden couple," but Avery senses hidden secrets from both of them. She wonders if Marissa is lying about the number of times she was unfaithful or the identity of her lover. She is also suspicious of Matthew's acquiescence to therapy. Marissa also suspects that Matthew may be having an affair with a woman named Natalie whom he dated in college and who has a daughter in the same private school as the Bishop's young son.

A big part of Avery's brand of therapy is that she does whatever it takes to know them intimately. That includes following them, looking into their friends, and investigating their work lives. (Matthew is a big-time lawyer and Marissa runs a boutique.) Avery has her work cut out for her with the Bishops, plus they have a couple of strange relationships that Avery will need to dig more into, like the one with Natalie and another with an odd sycophant who works for Marissa at her shop. On top of all that, Avery is being menaced by a pharmaceutical company which is after her for the name of a former client who was a whistle-blower that stopped the approval of a new drug they were trying to take to market..

All of the characters -- both primary and secondary -- are well defined, and the pace of the book is fast and furious. I couldn't put it down once I had started. The Golden Couple won't be published until March 2022, but I just couldn't wait to read it and write my review.. This is another 5 star read and is sure to be a best seller. I absolutely loved every word, but the ending really knocked me out.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced reader copy. I really love this author and was so excited to see this on Netgalley. As usual, it’s an addicting read, with short chapters that kept me guessing. The premise was different from usual psychological thriller. Strong ending. Overall, I enjoyed this book.

Another great book from these authors!
The Golden Couple was a perfect thriller as I thought I had everything figured out but once again they had me way off mark!
Marissa and Matthew had the perfect marriage with the perfect son. They had great jobs and on top of their game at such a young age. Things are not always what they seem though....
If you enjoyed the authors other books or just would like a good thriller grab a copy of this excellent book.
I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for my pleasure of reading.

I loooooved this book.
It was unputdownable.

Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple - - until Marissa cheats.
Enter widow Avery Chambers, a therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods.
If she can't fix you in 10 sessions, she won't take you on as a client.
Marissa wants to save her marriage, both because she loves her husband and for the sake of their 8-year-old son, but as the story unfolds and secrets were revealed, as the reader, you don't know who to trust.

I couldn't read it fast enough. The authors chose the exact way to introduce clues, doubts, and facts to keep you guessing the entire time.
I've been reading a lot of suspense lately, and this one, hands down, held my attention the most.

I'm a big fan of Greer and Sarah's storytelling talent.
I can't go into detail much without spoiling the book, so trust me when I say you need to block out some time to read this because you won't want to stop.

These two have done it again! They really know how to lure me in and keep me engaged. I did have an idea of the stalker but was still wanting to keep reading to find out more. Love reading each book by the two of them.

The characters in this book were all very unlikeable and it made for excellent reading. The entanglement between all the characters created many twists and turns that moved the book along quickly. I loved how different incidents were explored through different characters points of view, it not only moved the story along but created a sense of realism.

While not my favorite from this dynamic writing duo, I still enjoyed the tale with its twists and turns. I was guessing wildly for a while before I more or less settled on my suspicions, which proved correct. Fun read!

I have read several books by Hindricks and Pekkanen. This one was just as good as the others. I give it a high 4 stars.
Avery is a therapist who lost her license but is still helping clients. Mathew and Marissa, a married couple start seeing Avery to repair their marriage after Marissa admits to infidelity.

Avery starts digging into their past and finds out a lot. This took a bit to get into, but the story line moved along. I did not figure out what was going on until the last part of the book.
Who is being investigating? The couple or Avery.
I thought the writing was very good and the story very good. I highly recommend this book, thank you Net Galley for an advanced copy for an honest review.

An engaging thriller revolving around three characters: Marissa and Mathew, a couple going through a rough patch, and Avery, the therapist helping them mend their relationship through her ten-step program. Everybody has a secret and it’s not long before paranoia sets in as mysterious notes appear and threatening incidents ramp up. Who is behind these strange events? And what part do Avery and the « golden couple » play in them? The novel keeps you at the edge of your seat, even when the plot turns a bit far-fetched.. A perfect summer read!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the arc of this book. This book totally jumped the TBR line because I love these authors! I wasn't disappointed because the book drew me in from the beginning. The therapist was deliciously creepy and conniving and I loved her voice. I don't usually like first person narratives, but alternating it with Marissa and Matthew's stories was perfect.
There was so much going on, I never knew who was suspect. Or if they all were. Four and half stars rounded up to five

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkenan have done it again!! The "Golden Couple" is an absolutely thrilling ride filled with twists and turns I didn't see coming. I didn't know which shady character to believe and couldn't put this down. I never saw the shock at the end coming. I highly recommend this to all who love a good thriller. This is sure to be a huge hit in 2022!!

Thank you Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkenan, St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes. However, there were too many things going on which normally is okay but in this case it was just unnecessary. It was like the authors couldn't decide which story they were going with. I expected a lot more out of the drug story which seemed to just Peter out. They could have left that entire story line out and it wouldn't have been missed.

The therapist acting like an investigator was odd. No one would put up with that.

All that said, it was still a pretty good read.

Revelations and surprises at every turn. Every chapter ended with a twist. I couldn't put it down!!! Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have done it again. A psychological thriller/drama that pulls you in and doesn't let you go til the end.
