This book was excellent! The characters were so well-developed and I did not guess the “villain” a second before the characters did.

Another great from the other "golden couple" Greer Hendricks:).. A lot of tension building and character buildup. This was a great thriller with twists and turns and red herrings. I definitely recommend to anyone who likes unique story telling.
Thank you so much to Net Galley and the publisher for the chance to read and review.

Another hit from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Peknanen! I love reading their novels, whether they’re writing as a team of individually. This novel shares the story of a very unique therapist and her radical approach to working with couples in ten specific sessions. When Matt & Marissa enter her office to deal with an infidelity issue, they open doors that change everything and aren’t necessarily able to be closed.

Great fun!!! I loved it!!!

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are the most entertaining-enjoyable- suspense-thriller duo-GOLDEN-AUTHOR-team on the planet!

TERRIFIC storyline ….with a gang of characters so mischievously-gratifyingly-cryptic to hang out with ……I wanted to lounge around all day with them…..chill, open a bottle of wine…kick-up-my heels and fritter away time.
If a movie is not-in-the-making…..then somebody is missing the boat.

Avery Chambers [a ten-session fixer-alternative-type-therapist] tells her clients, Matthew, and Marissa that she needs to access who they are when she is not around in order to learn the truth, and for their work to be effective.
Her clients understand that they are in for something different when they go to see her. But they don’t realize the full scope until they learn that Avery will be scrutinizing their lives on her own time and on her own terms.
Matthew is a private man, unlike his wife Marissa.
Matthew is not sure he can truly forgive Marissa for the affair she had.

Avery it’s not naïve. She knows that Matthew and Marissa Bishop are still withholding important information. She says it’s only natural that everyone keeps secrets. Including her.

I loved the practical - eccentric- wacky ways that our star therapist, Avery behaved—[often a little wacky-unethical-but who cares]….
She adopted a dog - named him Romeo!
….and Avery was a woman after my own heart when it came to cooking…..(after YEARS of it)….
Avery says:
“I should go grocery shopping, but after so many years of cooking and washing dishes and cleaning mushy vegetables out of the refrigerator, the ability to stroll through my neighborhood and pick up nearly any cuisine that appeals to me—a Greek salad; chicken tikka marsala; a burger and sweet potato-fries on days when I feel like indulging—is too satisfying to give up”.
AMEN!!!
So….
cooking, and eating, and the adorable Romeo is not what drives this story — but as appetizers and side dishes -they are delicious—
adding nice spices to the main meal.

A few little teaser excerpts….(not that anyone needs to know ANYTHING before purchasing this fantastic-compromising-entanglement-cobweb of a story).
It’s a terrific thriller ride without any graphic-violence. (something I always appreciate about our golden authors)

“I think back to the moment the Bishops first entered my home, looking like the couple who had everything. I’ve spent the past few weeks trying to get to know them intimately, yet they still feel like strangers”.

“Every single person here is concealing something, I realize. The velvety, expensive wine, attractive decor, and friendly conversation can’t mask the truth: ugly, explosive secrets are swirling inside this room”.

“Typically in the cases I take on, I act as a funnel for clients: their problems seem overwhelming and chaotic at first, but as we chip away their situation, their issues distill into manageable entities.
“With the Bishops, it’s the opposite”.

Totally enjoyable!!!!

So this was not my favorite Hendricks/Pekkanen book. I’ve made sure to read every one of their books after The Wife Between Us blew me away but this one had a slow start for me and was incredibly predictable. Miranda and Matthew begin therapy with Avery after Miranda’s infidelity and everything just begins to unravel. Miranda is receiving threatening notes, flowers and bad things are happening around her. Avery is trying to piece their lives back together with her ten-session process all while trying to keep her own life together after blowing the whistle on a clients company. You know with these two authors there’s always a few twists thrown at you, but the biggest one I predicted pretty early on!

I have loved everything Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have written together! So I was thrilled to receive an early copy of their latest work from Netgalley and the publisher! The Golden Couple, hooked me immediately and kept me guessing to the end and that is EXACTLY what I want in my books.

Marissa and Mathew appear to have it all, but if that was the case they wouldn't need Avery. Avery is a therapist who uses unconventional ways to "fix" her clients in 10 sessions. Will this Golden Couple be fixed so easily? The writing flows so well between chapters as it switches points of view and the characters are both flawed and likeable. This one is going to be a bit hit! Solid 4 stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for granting me this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Books by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are totally catnip for me. No matter how much I have going on- the second I know their book is on my kindle, I honestly can't do anything else. One day, maybe I'll regret dropping everything for them... but that day hasn't happened yet! The Golden Couple is amazing. So, so compulsively readable!!! If there is one tiny constructive criticism at all, it would be that the cover felt slightly off brand, or maybe just not quite fitting for genre expectations. I almost passed it by (and domestic thrillers r my absolute fave) but since the authors are automatic reads for me, it wouldn't have mattered if the cover was a vampire, a zombie, or a blank page. I started it in the afternoon and saved a few chapters to finish the next morning- delish!!!!

The Golden Couple kept me guessing. I love this writing duo. This book was filled with twists and I loved the way the authors kept the intrigue going . It's been some time since I gave a book five stars.. I readily gave this book five stars and would recommend to all who enjoy a good mystery.

First off I love the stories they come up with, this one totally occupied my entire Sunday! So many things about this one, all those lies that kept going and pulling everyone one, the therapist who is also a little crazy herself. This story was so amazing, murder lies, love, family and tons of drama. Never saw the ending coming!! This comes out in 2022 and it should definitely be a must read!!! The authors knocked it out of the ballpark with this one! Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review! #THEGOLDENCOUPLE

I've learned to keep an eye out for new releases by the writing duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, and their latest book, The Golden Couple, had me hooked from the beginning and flipping pages to see what would happen next.

Marissa and Mathew seem to have the perfect marriage, until they find themselves in need of a marriage counselor. And, not just any marriage counselor; Avery Chambers is such an unconventional therapist, she's lost her license to practice. As it turns out, though, Avery is the one caught on her heels as everything Marissa and Mathew seem to be becomes twisted and personal. Avery finds herself at the center of their web of deception and danger, and the reader wonders who, if anyone, can be trusted.

The story is told from alternating points of view, switching between Marissa and Avery. I really enjoyed living inside Avery's therapist brain as she analyzes everyone she comes across and every event that occurs. Marissa and Mathew are interesting characters, too. Also in the mix are Polly, who works with Marissa, Natalie, who is Mathew's ex, and Chris, Mathew's somewhat estranged father. Throw in the big pharma corporation threatening Avery for whistleblowing, Avery's former clients and spouses, and the memory of Avery's dead husband, and we've got a story going in several directions that of course are all resolved by the end. Don't forget Romeo, Avery's new rescue dog who adds heart to the story.

One of my favorite aspects of this book are the little details that are thrown in: descriptions of Romeo's favorite toy, what Marissa is cooking for dinner, why a character chose the outfit she has on. These everyday details don't detract from the storylines, but instead made me feel like I was part of the story, living these lives with these characters.

Thank you to NetGalley, Ms. Hendricks and Ms. Pekkanen, and publisher St Martin's Press for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. It was my pleasure to be a part of this book's launch! #TheGoldenCoupleBook

Not surprised to say I loved this book. I tore through it because I had to know the outcome! I loved that there were multiple villains and that the twists and turns kept me guessing. The inter weaving connections of the chart was a great touch as well.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this and I have already recommended it to several friends.

If you want to be on the edge of your seat, you need to read this page-turner immediately! I am a huge fan of Greer Hendricks; Sarah Pekkanen and their newest novel, The Golden Couple, was probably my favorite yet. This novel was impossible to put down. From the first page to the last, the story was full of twists and turns, unique characters, and completely unpredictable.

From the powerhouse duo behind An Anonymous Girl, The Wife Between Us and You Are Not Alone, Pekkanen and Hendricks are back with another blockbuster. The narrative is incredibly solid. Pekkanen is a seasoned author and by extension, Hendricks' previous editing experience also makes her a great writer.

Told from Avery and Marissa's points of view, The Golden Couple is layered and complex. Their characters are well-developed, the plot is perfectly paced, and it's completely binge worthy. The only misstep is the subplot—it isn't nearly as compelling and detracts from the original story—there should have been more attention given to the backstory of a young Marissa and Matthew. That being said, there were no loose ends and everything aligned. This team is thorough.

With the theme of trust propelling the narrative, The Golden Couple is gripping and perfectly executed.

"The Golden Couple" by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen had me on the edge of my seat through almost the entire book! The writing in this novel is excellent and probably what you would expect if you've read their other novels. This was my 3rd dance with this dynamic duo and it might be my favorite one yet!
Marissa and Matthew Bishop have come to an unusual marriage "fixer" Avery. She recently lost her therapist license due to her (actually quite) bizarre treatment tactics. She may be an odd choice, but her therapy gets results like no other. Marissa has brought her husband to therapy to tell me she's cheated on him but she wants help getting past her infidelity and wants him to find forgiveness in his heart. Avery accepts the challenge of repairing the Bishops' fractured marriage. Matthew is considerably angered to find out about his wife's betrayal, but he grudgingly agrees to therapy.
Avery has her own demons. I honestly didn't LIKE the characters at ALL but I was compelled to read about their train-wreck lives. As the twists careened me around my own distaste for the main characters, I truly felt for some of the background characters. I needed to know what happened next as the layers of drama unfolded before me.

You won't guess the ending and will be rewarded richly with the ending of this explosive new novel, set to publish in March, 2022. Put it on your TBR right now! Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's press for my ARC.

Wow! This story is fantastic! What great twists of events. This story is written precisely and woven wonderfully. So many unexpected surprises. It’s menacing and captivating. Amidst all the chaos, it leaves you with a beautiful sense of peace.

Overall I would give this book a 3.5 star review. It kept my interest and I enjoyed how the authors told the story from the perspectives of Avery and Marissa. Avery is the therapist hired by Marissa and her husband to help them with their marriage. Avery has a unique approach to how she handles her clients but are Marissa and her husband willing to work with her? And are they her typical clients? There are many twists and turns in this interesting novel and I loved that out kept me guessing until the very end! Thanks to #netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book "The Golden Couple" and all opinions expressed are my own. Another great book by these authors. I could not put this book down and I didn't want it to end. You get pulled in right from the start. Very suspenseful!

A good mystery with a really convoluted plot that kept me guessing.

Unfortunately, I just could not vorm a connection to the characters- I found most of them thorny, difficu.t and unlikable.

That said, I dare you to unravel the mystery before the last page.
