Oh, this is a sharp piece of writing!

As soon as you start reading, you realize that these characters are just off. These are just some weirdly wrong people! However, you don’t care. You just find yourself intently invested in them and in all the twisted things that are happening in the book.

I didn’t want to stop reading. And when I realized what was actually going on here? Shocked. Completely and utterly shocked.

I loved every page of this and was only sorry that it ended!

Thank you SO much for this ARC!

I am a huge fan of this writing duo and have been obsessed ever since The Wife Between Us. Sadly, the books after TWBU didn't really captivate me as much but that has changed! I totally LOVED this read and it is definitely at the level of The Wife Between Us!

I enjoyed the multiple POV's and literally raced through this book, just needing to know how each session played out and who was behind everything!

I will forever recommend these two authors - FIVE stars for this one!

There is A LOT going on in this book, but the authors make it work. The story is told from two POVs: Avery, the therapist, and Marissa, the wife. Avery is a popular therapist who uses unique methods with her clients, resulting in her losing her actual license. She continue to practice as a consultant, and business is booming. One day she get an appointment request from Marissa. She and her husband are desperately in need of marriage counseling, and a friend forwarded Marissa Avery's information thinking it would be a good fit. In their first session, Marissa sets off a bomb, telling Matthew that she had a one night stand with a guy from her gym. This sets off a chain of events in their lives that no one sees coming. Well, except the evil mastermind, but we don't find that out until the end. This book requires a bit of suspension of disbelief as I don't think any "therapists" or consultants or whatever would do some of the things that Avery did. She was almost more of a PI than a therapist. The book kept me guessing, and I couldn't put it down.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of this book.

4.5 rounded up. This one kept me guessing, in the best way. I enjoyed both Marissa and Avery as alternating narrators; they were well developed and distinct. I had some issues with Matthew’s character and the conclusion being a bit rushed, but I did really enjoy the last few chapters after the climax.

Probably my favorite of their books, looking forward to the next. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts off really good and had me addictively turning the pages. The middle part started to involve a high level of improbability and began to drag. The therapist would make an excellent private investigator if she ever wanted to change career paths. All in all this book was well worth the read.

This book didn't do it for me. I felt like I had to suspend belief at so many points and there were no likeable characters in the book for me. By the time the last reveal happened on the last page, I didn't even care. Marissa is presumably a competent business woman, but seems unbalanced in so many ways and Avery's behaviour as a therapist should have led to criminal charges, not just losing her license. In an effort to keep the reader guessing and suspect everyone, it ended up being a book full of disdainful characters, none of whom I was rooting for. I appreciate how much work writing a novel is and I will read other books by these authors in the future, but I just didn't connect with this one.

Kept me turning pages late into the night. I really enjoyed both women's POV's and will be on the look out for the author's next book!

I read this book fast - which means I was very intrigued in the story - however, after finishing it I'm not sure I LOVED it. I love reading from different perspectives (Avery & Marissa) and I love the twisty ways that these types of books unfold, especially when you don't see them coming. However - spoiler - I hate it when the twist is thrown in there just for that surprise. Like, maybe there were bread crumbs leading up to it, but I think this time, it just felt cheap and overdone. Regardless, I did enjoy reading this book and would still recommend it to others.

I received an ARC of this title and immediately started reading it. The story catches you from the beginning and you do not want to put the book down!

The story was very intriguing and I never saw the twist coming. Another hit for this duo!

Thank you NetGalley, publisher and authors for providing a free copy of this book.

On the outside Matthew and Marissa Bishop have it all. He is a successful partner in a DC law firm and she is an owner of a boutique. However, like most couples, there are secrets. Marissa finds. a former unconventional expensive therapist, Avery, where if she doesn't think she can fix you in 10 sessions, she will not take you on. Matthew agrees to go thinking it is about their son, Bennett, until it is revealed that Marissa cheated on Matthew.

Prior to the confession, they portray themselves like most do on social media as having the '"perfect life".

Avery has certain rules her clients must follow, miss one appointment and you are out. Her methods on researching clients are unethical at best, perhaps this is why she lost her license 6 months ago.

Matthew continues to work hard as a partner in his law firm and is confiding in his friend Natalie more than is wife.
Meanwhile Marissa's store is soaring to success, her assistant Polly is a bit to eager to like Marissa......

There are quite a few plot twists in The Golden Couple, I was convinced I had it figured out, I was beyond on wrong.

Greer and Sarah definitely know how to keep their readers hooked. The only thing I sad about is the wait for a new book!

This is sure to be another best seller for the dynamic duo.

I am a huge fan of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I have DEVOURED the books they have put out. I was beyond excited to be approved for this advanced copy of The Golden Couple.

We meet Marissa and Matthew Bishop and their son Bennett. They have the perfect “Instagram photo life”, that is until Marissa makes a mistake one night and cheats on her husband.

Marissa enlists Avery a very in demand therapist who has unconventional methods to help save her marriage.

The reader is taken on a journey of Marissa falling apart, to “repairing” her marriage, to questioning everyone around her, to a huge plot twist.

I didn’t see the ending coming but as it was unfolding everything fell into place.

One part of the book I struggled with was the additional characters who weren’t vital to the story but had meaning to the overall plot. I felt like they weren’t wrapped up as throughly as I would have liked. I felt awful for the way Polly was used and discarded by everyone. I wish she received a better wrap up.

Overall the plot twist was well written, the main characters were well developed. I enjoyed this one!

4/5 stars

This suspenseful book delivered a thriller that left me guessing and one that I did not want to put down! Absolutely loved it and definitely recommend it!

I woke up this morning unhappy that I spent a good chunk of yesterday reading this. And even more unhappy that, after going to bed, I got back up and finished it.

Now it is over.

This was the first book in a couple of weeks that has even kept my attention, let alone made me sad it was over.

It isn't perfect. The last quarter dragged a little (which was why I was at first willing to put it down and go to sleep) and there were a couple of points that just didn't seem realistic. I can't list them as they would be major spoilers.

The plot, of a therapist with unconventional methods who is trying to help a couple that seems to have grown apart and are in deep trouble due to the wife's affair, is excellent. There is also a sub-plot of the therapist being threatened by a drug company who is after her because she reported that they were falsely reporting the results of a potentially lucrative drug trial.

The characters were well written and for the most part believable.

I wouldn't say the ending was a complete shocker. But it was good. I will definitely recommend this to a few friends and then plan on not hearing from them for a lost day or so.

"Every single person here is concealing something, I realize. The velvety, expensive wine, attractive decor and friendly conversation can't mask the truth: ugly, explosive secrets are swirling around inside this room."

It just wouldn't be a Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen novel without ugly, explosive secrets! As a big fan of their previous thrillers, I was excited to get the opportunity to read an advance copy of "The Golden Couple" (from St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley). One thing's for sure: once we learn that Marissa and Matthew are known as "The Golden Couple," we can be positive they're anything but. In fact, Matthew is a workaholic, and Marissa has just had a one-night stand. In an effort to repair their 12-year-old marriage, the two of them seek out therapist Avery Chambers, whose maverick techniques caused her to lose her license. That hasn't dampened demand for her very pricey services, however.

Anyone who has ever been in therapy, or is simply aware of the codes of ethics therapists are bound to follow, will no doubt find Avery's practice to be crazy at best and dangerous at worst; she follows clients around, surprises them at their homes, researches and even interviews their friends and colleagues. But this is a thriller, so I was happy to just roll with it. Everyone in Marissa and Matthew's orbit seems to be hiding something, and Avery herself is being harassed by a billion-dollar pharmaceutical company—she called the FDA's whistleblower hotline and spilled some information about a botched drug trial which she'd learned from a client.

As with all of Hendricks & Pekkanen's novels, this is a fast, fun read; if you're looking for a realistic portrait of the therapeutic profession, you've definitely come to the wrong place, but as a work of psychological suspense, it earns high marks.

Thanks to Netgalley for letting me review this book. I read it in two days, and it was a definite page turner!
I enjoyed the premise of Avery’s unusual therapy. I thought she delved into the characters of Marissa and Matthew in a unique way. It kept me guessing and it kept me reading. Excellent book! I’d definitely recommend it.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Marissa is going to counseling with her husband. She confesses that she had an affair and that it would not happen again. This book kept me on the edge from start to finish.
