I was graciously sent an e-arc by The Next Step PR!
I’ve been a long time fan of Abbi‘s books and was so excited to see that she was diving into a new genre this time! Miriam and Lord Ashington we’re both lovable characters who drew me in from the start. I also fell head over heels for Emma, the sweetest girl who reminds me of my own little sisters. The twist and turns of this book definitely left me hooked from the start and I pretty much read it in one sitting. It definitely was a little short for my tastes but overall Abbi was able to pack a riveting plot in a little package!
Glitter was obviously Abbi’s first attempt at “historical romance”. I liked the characters in this book but it was just so slow and then all of a sudden everything was resolved and it was over. I think so much more could have been done with this story and the development of the characters.
Is was definitely not my favorite.
This is a truly lovely historical romance. Great development of family relationships between sisters Miriam and Whitney in a loving positive way and between Ashington and Nicholas in a negative jealous way. Although the brother’s settle their differences and Emma’s parentage is a surprise at the end of the story. Very well written.
Miriam is kind and charming and goes to London for the season to find a well-to-do husband, which is not something she really wants but know she must for her to care for her younger sibling. Hugh and Nathaniel are stepbrothers, and where one wants to marry, the other does not and will do what he must to sabotage the other’s quest. This is a good story with an in-depth plot, and is a sweet and enjoyable story with emotions, humor, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend. This is the perfect read for all regency romance lovers.
Abbi Glines proves time and time again she can write anything. This was my first regency romance, naturally with Abbi writing it there was zero hesitation to read it.
There were so many things I loved about this one. Miriam Bathurst is many things, loyal, beautiful, intelligent and as always Abbi gives her some sass. I loved that while she was put in an unfortunate situation she rose above and did what was best for her family.
Lord Ashington and Mr.Compton..... I was so conflicted at first of who was going to be the hero and who would be the villain. Both have their own agenda and set of secrets.
It definitely takes a moment to adjust to this type of romance. We are all so used to insta love, major heat, racy scenes. This read makes us take a step back, realize how courting used to be, how pure and innocent.
Emma naturally stole the show. This little girl and all her whit, her spunk and personality. I'm pretty sure everyone who reads this will fall in love with her immediately.
This was most definitely a different read from most of Abbi's books, but such a pleasant surprise and that conclusion was perfection.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.
I found this to be an easy, breezy little read. The story was engaging, the characters amusing. It's a great beach read, or a palate cleanser after reading something heavier.
So different from what I am used to reading from Abbi Glines, a historical romance where Miriam didn't want to marry but the tradition dictated it, and so she found herself on a journey of heartache and love. This Regency romance told from different character`s POV gives the story more than expected. You will find yourself immersed in Regency England with all the glamour that comes from the era.
Glitter is a historical romance, I have never read this genre before but I’m a big fan of Ms.Glines writing so I had to give it a try. I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what genre Ms. Glines writes I known I’ll love it. This story was flawless from the characters to the plot: I loved everything about it.
I loved Miriam she was a great female lead and was always true to herself and her beliefs. She was a beautiful lady who was kind, loyal and the type of person everyone loves. Hugh and Nathaniel are stepbrothers. They both are vying for her attention but only one for the right reasons. Emma was my favorite character and made this story so much more entertaining. It had my full attention from the first page until the last. If you like historical romances or Ms Glines other books you’ll love this one.
Such a wonderful historical story I loved everything about this story from the storyline, setting and characters. It was perfection!
Thank you to NetGalley and Next Step PR for a copy of this eARC!
I was soooo looking forward to reading this, and Abbi Glines did not disappoint. The ebb and flow of the writing works seamlessly, bringing together a story that is both full of "glitter" and suspense. For me, the best part of the book was watching Hugh and Nathaniel as they interacted with Miriam, and how this all fit into the world.
I would absolutely recommend this book, and the writing is just absolutely magical.
This is a great historical romance set in England. The storyline and characters will pull you in from the very beginning. I wish this story could have gone on forever.
This lovely lighthearted Regency romance hooked me from page one. Literally. It got me into the story that quickly.
And I have to say, this is not your usual regency romance book. It has so many refreshing things, especially characters.
I really enjoyed the plot, even though I don't like love triangles. But this one didn't feel like such a triangle, so that was a huge relief. And I loved the plot twist we have at the beginning because it's not something that we see frequently in regency romances, and Abby Glines wrote it so well!
As for the characters, my favourite was Miriam. I loved her. I loved that she was a reasonable character, that she thinks before she acts, and I absolutely loved that she wasn't dumbstruck by the guy's beauty when she just met him. She acknowledged it but didn't swoon. I loved that. But also, I liked that she wasn't too stubborn or cold to not be able to change her mind about some things.
I liked Ashington. However, he was a more common character for me. Either way, I loved that we have his POV and we get to know him better.
And I hated Nicholas. Ugh! he was so annoying. I really didn't like him. So, I was super shocked at how my perception of him changed in the end. I can't say I liked him, but he did win some points.
Also, It had a steamy scene that I honestly didn't see coming. It really surprised me.
And I'm super happy with the end. It was lovely, sweet, and it had that round finale I love.
The only thing I can point out, it's that it would have been nice to develop Ashington and Nicholas's issue a bit more. We are constantly reminded of how much they hate each other, but the root of their hate was mentioned too briefly for the reader to actually grasp the depth of their hate and resentment.
This is the first time I read anything by Abbie Glines and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I'm sure many people will love this story!
This book was sent to me by the author via Netgalley.com for an honest review. I have read almost all of Abbi Glines' books and this is her first foray into the Regency genre and I think she did a splendid job. Her characters had depth to them and I kept wanting more. There were a few times that I was not too sure which way the storyline would go. Miriam is being sent to London for her first season while living with her aunt and uncle. She has no desire to go but knows she must in order to pave the way for her sister. She meets two brothers, Ashington and Nicholas, who both give her attention. She is not too crazy about the attention she receives from either one and has to keep reminding herself that she is doing it for her sister. Miriam turns out to be more than what they bargained for. They both want to use her but for entirely different reasons. Knowing what she knows about the brothers, will Miriam be able to get what she wants for once in her life? I love the characters and storyline and I hope to read more Ike this from the author.
There is nothing better than diving into a book that is set in London in historical times. You add some romance in there and I am all in!
I have never read a book by the Author before so this was my first time experiencing her writing, world build and character developments. I was thoroughly surprised to find myself falling in love with this world, the characters and even Miriam!
When she is sent to London to find a husband to help take care of her and her sister she is willing to sacrifice the chance of love to help put them in a better position.
When the love triangle is introduced I was very much on one side (read it to find out why!) I couldn't honestly put the book down and I devoured this is literally one sitting.
I will be buying this book to add to my shelf!

After 'rediscovering' Abbi during About Tomorrow I remembered why I was hooked on all those series of Abbi: she has a way to suck you just right into the story. And now that she is trying something new: historical romance, I knew I had to try it of course. And yes, it is a bit different from her previous stories. Is it better? Worse? Well... different. And not in a bad way. But for me, it took a little time to get over the fact that this was indeed a historical romance, where there are no bad ass boys and feisty girls. But we do have Miriam, who is determined to enter the marriage mart, to land herself a wealthy husband. Not for herself, but to ensure she can also provide for her dearest sister, who is eight years younger. Not having received a lot of love from her parents, Miriam totally adores her little sister and will do anything for her. So, when she meets Lord Ashington and Lord Compton, her (hilarious funny) aunt is delighted. Two suitors, and brothers at that.
But Miriam soon realizes that these Lords are not vying for her hand, but they are trying to out manouver the other. Well, she will certainly not take part in this game of revenge. Both Hugh and Nicolas are astonished that the beautiful Miriam has a mind of her own and that she is not afraid to speak up. Although Nicolas is set on finding revenge, he starts to doubt if Miriam would be the one to suffer from it. Because he becomes to care for this stubborn girl. Intriges, deceit and a whole lot of stuffed English society rules. Absolute marvelous. Thank you Abbi, in my opinion: your new adventure has turned out wonderful! Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
I read this in one sitting. If you need your recency fix, look no further. Miriam joins society to find a husband. Which Compton Brother will she pick? Love this story
What a refreshing read. This is a different book than Abbi has written before, but it was fabulous. This is an historical romance. Loved how they’re about a few different points of view. Gets your take on what each person is thinking. While reading you think you know what is going to occur but then are pleasantly surprised. We are kept guessing their out the book. There are definitely some funny parts and you’ll be smiling as I was through many parts in the book. If you’re a fan of Abbi, this is a must read. She did an amazing job taking us back in a world we don’t know and brought it to life.
Thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC.
🌟🌟🌟 3/5 stars
Glitter is a fun, glamorous historical romance featuring a great main character and a love triangle. Miriam has been raised knowing that her family depends on her landing a rich husband. Hugh, Earl of Ashington, resents the title he received unexpectedly after his father’s sudden death and his task to marry. His brother, Nathaniel, swears revenge on his brother after his mother is sent away. The three make up a love triangle with all of the drama and romance.
I loved the Vampire Diaries vibes of this historical romance. Glines does well writing stories that are addicting and just the right length for you to fly through the pages. This is her first historical romance and I can’t wait to see what she does next. Overall, Glitter is a great first foray into historical romances that will get new fans, as well as please fans of her New Adult books!

Thank you Net Galley for a copy of this ARC. Glitter by Abbi Glines!!! I did not know that Abbi Glines wrote historical romance, I've read many many of her novels of contemporary romance. But she nailed this one! This book was enchanting, what dreams are made of. This would have been a 5 star for me but I wanted more heat to go along with that chemistry. Still loved it though! 4.5 stars!!!
