3.5 It Continues Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler -A Quick Review
This is the continuing drama started with The Insider by Tijan. This provides all the necessary interest and layers a middle book needs to make the reader want the last satisfying third book.
We have the same characters, maturing and growing, along with the conflicts of trying to figure out who to trust, who is not an ally. You will be led where you need to go and then will wait for the finale.
I really loved this second installment to this series. I love the fiery chemistry between Bailey and Kash!
I can't wait for the third book to come out.
I love this series from Tijan.
Kash and Bailey…..I love them as a couple, but felt like in this book there was so much separation that we didn’t get much real interaction between them. There are so many hanging strands and questions left in this book that it almost felt like there was no closure and it was rambling with much of the same things….danger happens, Kash swoops in and rushed Bailey away. Over and over again. We didn’t see any of their strength or growth in this book, not even her kick ass skills. It definitely ends with a bang and enough suspense that I need the next book…..just hope for more from Bailey. She was so weak in this book
I am blown away by this series and this one has me gripping for the next one .It's suspenseful, engaging, and just truly amazing. I can't say enough about how amazing this storyline continues to grow. The secondary characters add the extra depth and emotion without taking away from the main storyline. The cliffhanger! Wow. I highly recommend this series and can't wait to see where the author takes it next!
Thank you to the author, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for the ARC copy.
I loved this!! I was so excited to get back to the characters and the world and I was not disappointed. Full review to come!
The most anticipated follow-up to The Insiders is finally here and it does not disappoint! Once again, Tijan has weaved a story of romance, intrigue, drama that was impossible for this reader to put down.
The Damaged picks up right where the last book left off and leaves no stone unturned. For every answer, we’re left with a million more questions. There are so many secrets, lies, revelations, and moments that just mess with your head. The hits just keep coming as the massive web begins to unfold and believe me when I say there is never a dull moment. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen next the rug gets pulled out from under you.
The Damaged is anything but predictable and the ending left me reeling. I need to know what will happen next and how our characters will come out of the other side of this latest curveball….
Tijan you did it again. This book was so good. I love all your books but this one is my absolute favorite. Thank you for this one.
I’ve been looking forward to reading The Damaged ever since I finished The Insiders, and it was well worth the wait. I really enjoyed Kashton’s POV, and am still a big fan of Bailey. They’re a great match. The plot was intense and full of action, but the story was still full of the emotion that Tijan writes so well.
Reading Kash and Bailey’s story, there are twists and surprises around every corner. This story, second book in the trilogy, is action packed with Bailey caught in the middle of an outright family war. Kash tries to keep her safe, but reading their story one can’t be sure all will end well.
Tijan writes their story with an intensity and emotion that you can feel and we have come to expect from this wonderful author.
I neeeeeed book 3!!!!!! ASAP! I am liking Kash more and more as the story goes on!!! So mysterious. You definitely need to read book one before getting into this one!
I found the plot of The Damaged to be suspenseful and interesting. The book leaves off on a cliffhanger so be ready. Baily and Kash are a great couple to route for. The dual POV allows the reader to really connect with both of them. I also enjoyed the side characters in this story. They helped the story have some nice depth. The story is fast-paced and is written in the author's familiar voice. I would recommend reading book one in this series to be fully invested.
Thank you, St. Martins Griffin and Netgalley for the arc. This is my honest review.
The Damaged is a great follow-up to The Insiders. This story picks up where The Insiders left off. The one thing that I truly enjoyed was that we get Kash's POV . If you like the trope “Touch her and die”, then you will LOVE Kash!
The Damaged continues with the same characters from The Insiders, but few more added in, mainly with Bailey going to graduate school. This was a face paced story that had so many twists and turns that I did not see coming. The secrets, lies, and betrayals were epic. I also enjoyed the character development with Bailey, Kash and their family.
The ending – OMG – The ending!!! I cannot wait for the 3rd book!
ARC was provided by the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
3.5 stars
I'm not sure if I just over hyped myself on this book or what, but I didn't love The Damaged as much as I loved The Insiders. I had such a hard time connecting with the storyline this time, parts of it just seemed really unrealistic and over the top, and I found myself easily distracted by other things than consumed like I was while reading The Insiders. Womp!
Kash and Bailey did give me all the feels in this book, so at least there's that.
4.25 – 4.5 STARS
There is nothing I love more than losing myself in an emotionally-charged, suspenseful romance featuring a smok’n hot, powerful, super protective alpha poised at the helm. Such is the case with “The Damaged,” the second installment to The Insiders Trilogy by the author Tijan.
Although I hadn’t read “The Insiders” prior to delving between the pages of “The Damaged,” I fell in love with Kash and Quinn straight out of the gate. That said, I did feel at a bit of a disadvantage not knowing the full scope of this couple’s back story, so I would suggest that readers start this trilogy from the very beginning in order to gain greater insight. I, for one, plan to go back and do just that.
From start to finish, I was hard-pressed to pull myself away from the drama that plays out with delicious intent throughout this action-packed romance. Boasting an intriguing premise and multi-faceted characters, I literally couldn't put this novel down! I can’t wait to see what is store for them all when the final book in this trilogy is ultimately released.
I haven’t read the first in the series, but I did enjoy this one enough to go back and read. This author has a unique storytelling style and voice, and spends time fleshing out characters beyond the main characters. It was a sexy read, and I’m eager to read what comes next.
Love this author, absolutely love this series. I’m just sorry that I can’t read the next book right now! Bailey and Kash are awesome main Characters, the characters are so well fleshed out, that you feel like they are people you actually know. What made the story really stand out though for me is the secondary characters, it’s unusual to have so much background and personalities for secondary characters. The 1st book was good, this one was better, more mystery, action and of course romance!
I’m honestly a bit disappointed with this one. I adored book one, but this felt a bit too much like it. Things felt rushed, including the romance. It was all a bit more over the top than book one as well. Not one hundred percent sold if i want to continue the series.
Great followup to The Insiders. A power punch from beginning to the end. I can't wait for the next book. If you are not in to cliffhangers, you may be disappointed with this series but Oh my wow! It is one for the shelves! Review is my own opinion.
honestly i’m still not over this one. the best kind of continuation of a series & the best kinda dark & twisty story that you can’t ever be sure you have a complete grasp of. READ THIS SERIES!
Do I really have to wait for the next book? Can't I have it right now? The Damaged was IMPOSSIBLE to put down, more so than The Insiders even, and I just know the third and final book will be the same. Suspenseful, sexy, and somehow both a new adult and adult read. The Damaged packs a punch, taking readers back into Bailey's world, but this time we also get the occasional glimpse into Kash's mind. We're back in the world of the rich and famous-by-association. The money drips, from their clothes and their cars and the hotels they call home. Doors open for them, clubs open ropes up, and Bailey is finally going to see what money and power can do for her as she begins school at Hawking University.
One of my favorite parts of The Insiders was Bailey's brain, she's so dang smart and even when she relaxed into her family role she still responded smartly. In The Damaged it is clear love has taken over some space in her brain, she's a bit less insightful, and she's always dripping in lust for Kash. It would be annoying, if there chemistry wasn't so off the charts and if I didn't love books with all-consuming relationships so much. Her brain shows its stuff when it comes to school though and I really enjoyed her world expanding, to see her gain friendships, to grow her relationship with Matt, and to see a future setting itself up for her.
Unfortunately, things go off the rails, as they do when you're Peter Francis' unknown daughter and dating the ninth richest man in the world. Jealousy, greed, anger, lust, and revenge take Bailey and Kash on a wild ride and based on the ending of this book, it's not done yet. It's a rollercoaster, one that Tijan gives you a break from with intense romance scenes and brother-sister bonding. I knew though that the unknown figure from the first novel would show up again, I knew there was something to come, and my word I cannot wait for it! I need book three. I need to know more. Tijan did such a good job foreshadowing what is to come and I am just begging to have it revealed to me this instant.
The Damaged is another excellent release from Tijan and a stunning secondary novel in the trilogy. I rarely love the second book in any series, but oh my word, this could end up being my favorite. The writing is new-adult-ish, with quicker dialogue and a lack of complex world building, but I sort of enjoyed that. While The Damaged isn't challenging to read, it is entertaining and what it lacks in depth it makes up for in excitement and intrigue. The Insiders Trilogy is one I am highly recommending to romance-suspense fans like me.
