I’m already waiting for book number 3 but this one is not even out. I enjoyed reading the insider, but I forgot how addicting Tijan’s series is. The Damage pick-up where Tijan left us with Bailey and Kash.
I’m a Tijan cheerleader so I jump right into The Damage when I got the chance to have it before 2022. How she builds her characters, their trauma evens their relationship with their parents, lovers even siblings.
When you read a Tijan’s book it feels so real.
We are back with Kash and Bailey, they are closer, but relationships are not always perfect we have a different side of how mains characters, Kash is now always busy we know more about his side. Kashton is smitten, he’ll do everything to protect Bailey and I also adore his relationship with Matt their brotherhood hell I was melting.
In the other and we have Bailey, she is not the girl we all knew in book 1 she is more fragile and dealing with all the past actions in her life. I truly love this girl how she treats her sibling, how she wants to protect her family in her own way. We have a raw side of her, and I fall deeply into it she could not control what she felt, and I could feel it in my bone.
What make my heart drop was the cliffhanger, I can’t stop thinking and asking myself how Tijan will develop the future of Bailey and Kash but not only them, the future of their family ( I screamed of frustration at the end)
Kash and Bailey's relationship will face nasty and dramatic events, will they survive it that is the question I’m asking myself. Will you survive it too?
Tijan also gave us a joker this last chapter with this person, I’m also sure who he is but let’s wait for book number 3 because I swear, I want to know where how when why?
‘The Damaged’ is the second novel in Tijan’s suspenseful The Insiders trilogy, and it packs quite an emotional punch.
Now that Kash and Bailey’s true identities have been exposed to the world, they have to navigate their new relationship in the context of all those who would see them fall. As new truths are brought to light, will they be able to fight off their foes as a united front, or will circumstances tear them apart?
Typically, when I read a trilogy, I often expect for book two to kind of be a “filler” type of book. One that sort of acts as a placeholder between the beginning and the end. ‘The Damaged’ is in no way a filler novel. If anything, the narrative surpasses its predecessor. The pacing and the action feel taut the entire book, and it ends on one whopper of a cliffhanger. I’m actually kind of mad about the fact that I have to wait so long to read the third book. I have no doubt it’s going to be amazing.
The connection between Bailey and Kash is mesmerizing; their chemistry off the charts steamy. But there is a real depth of emotion present that is also thoroughly compelling. The universe that Tijan has built feels immersive and real. Trust, me, you’ll be reeled in from the first sentence.
If you haven’t read ‘The Insiders,’ do that, and then read ‘The Damaged.’ The suspense, the steam, and the emotion will ensure that you have one wild ride.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is the second book in the series and The Damaged picks up where The Insiders left off. Bailey and Kash are together but there are still forces at play to keep them apart. Kash's grandfather is out to destroy him and anyone he loves with the help of Quinn, Camilla Story, and Victoria Kash's ex. There is always a threat looming in the shallows to get to Bailey. There are so many moving parts in this book, when you think you have all the players another one appears. But the question is will Bailey and Kash survive this latest tragedy that has happen to Bailey? Or will she hate Kash for bring his grandfather into her life? There is so much destruction in this book and what is with the Ser and Cy aunt the Quinn look alike? What role does she play in the book? So many unanswered questions when you get to the end of the book but I loved it and I know it has to be a book three because it could not end like that.
Picking up perfectly from where we left off on the first Book The Insiders, I couldn't wait to dive in and I was absolutely not disappointed and got at lot more than I even imagined.
Kash and Bailey's relationship is so solid, I Love it!! but now everything is out in the open. The twists come hard and fast, the drama is fast paced, and I was pretty much engrossed and fully captivated.
The truth is out about Kash and his Grandfather who is man already showing how lethal and dangerous he is.
Bailey has entered Grad School, with her body guards in attendance, her life has changed, and i loved not only her strength but also her vulnerabilities. Couple all that and add in attending school with the knowledge of her father being Peter Francis and it doesn't make it easy and combine her now new relationships and "family". My heart ached for her, and Tijan still kept the twists coming and the plot thickening!!
I loved getting to know Kash a lot more in this book, he's so protective of those he loves and the fact he's not adverse to working outside the Law had me falling for him even more!!!
His willingness to open up to Bailey had my crush on him over flowing because you easily felt how difficult it was for him.
There were a lot of surprises in this book, some I loved, some had me shaking with anger, some had me fearing for Kash, Bailey and their families and some had me in tears. Bailey's new grad school friends, can she really trust them, her half brothers and sisters, of which Matthew surprised the most, I'm beginning to Really Like Him!!!!
Not many books can keep my attention from beginning to end, but this is not like other books, the hits come hard and the twists keep tying your emotions up in knots !!
Yes there is a cliffhanger and ....... I'M READY TO SELL MY SOUL FOR WHAT COMES NEXT !!!!!! IT IS THAT GOOD !!!!!!
I was honoured to receive an arc copy of this book from the publishers, St Martins Press through Netgalley in return for nothing other than and honest opinion.
The Damage is booked two in the Insiders trilogy. I felt like we got more of a look at Bailey’s personality outside of their hacking and a better understanding of everyone’s of the relationship with themselves and each other in this book. We were introduced to new characters and got to see a more personable side of Bailey. I enjoyed seeing her interact with others outside of the family. But of course along with new friendships comes new enemies and even more excitement and drama. You also see the bond between Baley and Matt grow can you get a different perspective of him instead of just the fuck boy that we were used to. Bailey and Kash’s relationship evolved even more and allowed Kash to have a softer side, while still maintaining his ruthless edge.
And in true Tijan fashion, the book elicited emotion: happiness, anger, and sadness. There were times when I wanted to scream at the people around Baley for continuing to keep secrets, times that I was happy four and proud of Baley for standing up for herself, and sad when Baley was emotionally hurt. While you knew Bailey was strong from the first book, I felt like that strength came through even more in this one when she encounters new challenges.
We were then left on one hell of a cliffhanger, and I don’t know what I’m gonna do until I can get the the conclusion of this series!!!
This book picks up right where the first stopped. Tijan gives us more of a background on Kash's grandfather and family and how dangerous things really are. Bailey just wants to have a normal life, after being thrown in as Peter's daughter, going to school like she planned and earning things like all the other students. Kash tries to make things better with her and Peter and keep her safe from there enemies. This second part is filled with drama and suspense and heartbreak. Tijan for sure doesn't disappoint, just hate that it ends in a cliffhanger of sort. For sure I was kept on the edge of my seat for most of this book in one way or another. Hated to see the end of this book and can not wait for the final book to be released. Great job as always Tijan! Honest review in exchange for ARC.
I was excited but also apprehensive to read The Damaged. I loved The Insiders but I sometimes find that when books are in a trilogy the middle book can end up just being a filler. But I should never have assumed that Tijan would do us dirty like that!
Bailey and Kash are in a great place with each other in this book so whilst there is still plenty of heat and chemistry the solid romance allows for more action to happen. Bailey is dealing with the aftermath of her attempted kidnapping and the impact that has had on her life. She is also still trying to get to know her family including her father.
There was so much more to Kash in this book which I absolutely loved. I found him such a mysterious character in the first book so it was great to get a further peek into his backstory. There was also lots of story building in this book as Kash gets ready for the ultimate showdown with his Grandfarher.
But there was also plenty of action. There are many secrets still left to uncover in this story
and rest assured once you finish this one you will be salivating for the next!
Wow! All I have to say is Tijan is a phenomenal writer. This book has really damaged me emotionally. I was so tense from reading the 1st page till the end of the book. All I have to say is Bailey is a badass even though she is a walking target. She will always rise to the top regardless of the obstacles that is thrown towards her way. Kash will always be by her side. I love how he is so protective of her and can see right through her. He has a bigger fish to deal with on his end, but he needs Bailey on his side to give him the full support and love to face his grandfather. Their relationship gets stronger by the minute, but there are flaws that comes with it. You also get to see more insight of Bailey's relationship with her father and her brother Matt and it will continue to grow. She made new friends and how their friendships developed as the story goes on. I don't want to spoil anything on this review, but all I can say is nearly at the ending of the book, one of the characters shook me to my core. I put my hand over my mouth and can't believe what I just read. I love this book! I am looking forward to the 3rd book.
Totally devastating in the best possible way. I think Tijan gets better and better with each book. This book gutted me. And I wasn't expecting it at all. I love that we get Kash's POV. And I can't believe how long I'll have to wait after that cliff hanger. Brutal. Just brutal.
5 billion stars!!!!! I LOVED this book!! Its a must read!!!! And now I'm going to die waiting on the next book!!! I Can Not Wait!❤❤
Lovers of romantic suspense, this is one trilogy you don’t want to miss, and it’s not over yet! If I enjoyed The Insiders, I was bowled over by The Damaged. It picks up perfectly from where the first book left off, Tijan giving her readers little reminders. Not that I needed them as everything was still fresh in my mind. Fast-paced and action-packed, the ending was so well-thought-out that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book two. And when I did dive into it, putting Bailey and Kash’s story down wasn’t an option.
I’m a great admirer of Tijan’s narrative writing skills. She has a knack for making her characters come alive and giving her stories a realistic feel, her latest instalment equaling this fact. I was a tad concerned about the newcomers’ names since I often have trouble remembering who is who, but not this time. Everyone slipped in nicely despite my antipathy towards a couple of individuals. And although this sounds contradictory, I loved hating them!
Impatient to see Kash again, having even more of him was a delight. This time around, Tijan gets down to the nitty-gritty in Kash and Bailey’s relationship. One gets the impression that nothing ruffles this tenacious man’s feathers, but when it comes to his woman’s security, he'd kill for her. No pun intended! Always protective of the people he cares for, his very being will be put to the test. I couldn't possibly tell you what I sensed was going to happen or whether it panned out how I thought it would because it’s nail-biting stuff you have to experience for yourselves!
Even though Bailey’s still adjusting to her current surroundings and changes, she’s determined to make things work. There was a point when I felt my heart go out to this lass whose fleeting what-ifs and insecurities made me sit back and think about the situation she was in. I adored her attitude, her extraordinary intellect and the effort she makes to fit in with her peers. Her openness with some family members and her deep affection for all of them were emotions I couldn't get enough of. The dialogue flows seamlessly throughout, but something felt off-kilter—and I waited, and I was left aghast.
If I could have, I’d have given Matt, Bailey’s brother, a hug! I’d certainly like to see if he’ll be able to overcome his issues in book three. A glimpse of their younger siblings left me wanting more and keeping my fingers crossed that they’ll be back in full force, too.
What scorching chemistry; what a jaw-dropping twist, what a gripping page-turner! Tijan’s storytelling never ceases to amaze me! Bravo!
ARC gratefully received from St. Martin’s Griffin via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I literally binge read this book in a day and was ecstatic when I was approved for an ARC of the book.
The Damaged picks up where The Insiders left off, with Bailey suffering from PTSD after the attempted kidnapping. What I love about Bailey in this book is her growth as a character. Tijan’s characters are always real and never perfect; making them easy to relate to and you can’t help but liking them even if you hate them. I love how Bailey has normal insecurities and how she struggles to fit in. Kash is just the alpha male the majority of us love in our books and it was nice to see him slowly starting to open up to Bailey as we learn more about his background.
The plot of the book was excellent. The power struggles come across in the tense atmosphere that Tijan created; causing you to be on the edge of you seat throughout the book. I love Tijan’s style of writing because it’s such an easy read but the atmosphere is there and you quickly get sucked in. This book has left me craving the next one and I hope we get Kash opening up more and more on Bailey’s coping mechanisms. But that ending guys! It is a cliffhanger, sort of, more of a mic drop really and I just know everything is going to kick off in the next book.
Whilst this book isn’t classed as a mafia romance, I would highly recommend it to people who like that gang vibe in their books. Overall, I loved this book and it’s a great addition to the series.
Rated ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Thank you so much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
4.5/5 🌟 holy crap, Tijan. You are amazing! This book, the cliffhanger. I’m distraught lol. I need a physical book so I can hold it tight in a cuddle & then through it across the room.
LIKES: really like the character development. Bailey, giving herself reality checks when she needs it. Matt’s growth too, like babe pls get help lol. Honestly the whole family needs counseling if we’re being honest. The love and devotion in this book gives me all the feels.
DISLIKES: okay, so Kash & Baileys communication sucks. I wish they talked more, it seems like Kash just uses sex to divert everything. I get that, I’m not mad at it. It works for the story. Like I said, everyone needs a little counseling.
• sometimes when people are having a conversation there’s no: “Peter look distraught as he said, “” the quotes were a little confused to keep up with sometimes just because it didn’t state who was speaking.

I absolutely loved this book & I'm sad because it doesn’t come out until Feb 2022 & then on top of that we still gotta wait for book 3 & that cliffhanger.
Thank you for my early review copy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I believe this book will be a huge bestseller.
I’ve read and lived many of Tijan’s books and this series is pulling at my heart way more that I thought it will.
Damn, that cliffhanger moment made me shout out loud at my kindle.
More secrets and drama are uncovered in this book and while I’m all invested in the romance story, which is hot as expected, I need to read more of the suspenseful part because I didn’t expect that!
What a ride! You can never go wrong with this series.
Holy hot damn, this book gave me a heart attack. I really loved the world that Tijan created in THE INSIDERS, so I was really excited to delve back into it. The first half of this book is interesting because you could tell that she is building up to huge things...and then the last 25% happens and you're left with your mouth hanging open. I loved the developments between Kash and Bailey, as well as Bailey and Matt. I'm even more excited for continued growth in Matt's character in the last installment, too. Tijan's writing has a way of pulling you in and fully immersing you in the crazy world she's created and I love every second of it.
I really enjoyed “The Insiders”, the first book in this series and was looking to this continuation of Bailey’s and Kash’s story. I love a good thriller suspense book with romance. I’m all for fast pacing that keeps me on the edge of my seat and the second books in this series does that well.
Bailey is finally starting grad school and learning to navigate her new life as someone in the the spotlight not only due to who her father is but also because of who she is dating. Just like this first book, this story is HOT.
I will be honest and say that I had a harder time getting into the story and I felt like the grad school experience for Bailey felt off and unrealistic…then again this book is not really meant to be realistic necessarily.
Overall I am so glad I was chosen to get to read the second book in this series, I love Bailey’s character and to be honest Kash’s even more.
5 stars... Tijan has done it again! I really enjoyed book 1 (The Insiders) in this series, but I loved The Damaged even more. I said this before, but even though the plot is so different, this really reminds me a lot of the Fallen Crest series. Kash and Matt are a lot like Mason and Logan Kade. Kash is all alpha male and protective of Bailey (he's also rich, powerful, and super good-looking), while Matt is goofy but dealing with some serious emotional issues. Bailey is an exceptional heroine, and while we do get hints of her gifts in this one, we also see her dealing with the events at the end of book 1. It's been a while since I read book 1, and Tijan does a great job of recapping it's events without feeling too monotonous or repetitive. One of the things I liked about this book, as compared to the first, is that Bailey has officially started her graduate program, so we get a bit of the university/ school dynamics in there. Plot wise, Kash is still dealing with trying to best his grandfather, and Bailey is still dealing with the catty girls from book 1, her daddy issues, and also dealing with trying to be there for Kash, who has a habit of shutting down on Bailey when it comes to his grandaddy issues. The book ends with a bang, and I'm still reeling from it. This has left me very, very excited for the conclusion of the story in book 3. I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this arc but I have no words that would make sense of how shocked I am right now. I love Kash & Bailey and I hope they stand firm (especially Bailey) because oooooh myyyyyyy gooooodness. The went through some things and then some. Peter & Matt there’s hope for you yet (well at least I hope so). Ser I think you may know something that K&B need to know about what’s going on. Victoria, Quinn, & Evil Gramps are just horrible evil asses and I hope they get their comeuppance especially Evil Gramps.
Now what I’m most curious to know is how Chase will play into all of this because I’m thinking he’s our wild card from the first chapter in book 1 and from the last chapter in this one. I need Book 3 ASAP cause Tijan has given anxiety over this one. I loved it and can’t wait for the ending.
I just want one thing right now, the next book!
I've been obsessed with this book since the release of the excerpt. The first book was intriguing and I wanted more, more, more but this book was captivating. I seriously did not put this book down once I got it! Thank goodness it was a Friday night when I picked this book up because if it wasn't....I would've been in big trouble showing up with a book hangover.
This book had everything I adore about Tijan. It was the dark smoldering type of book. If you read the first one which I HIGHLY recommend you do, this book continued the high stakes but with a little bit more. If you are a true Tijan fan I would rate this book to be more than Fallen Crest but not quite like Cole or Carter Reed. At least, not yet. The intensity of the book is a darker theme compared to some of the lighter ones like Teardrop Shot, Anti-Stepbrother, or Hate To Love You.
One of the things I love about Tijan is that she has so many different writing...presence is the best that I can describe it as. There's the light ones that are perfect for any day, the ones that really take you on an emotional ride, and ones like these. The darker, "it's about to get real" ones. The Damaged was a wild rollercoaster and I was along for the ride every step of the way. But the ending... I wish I could discuss without giving it away. Let's just go with, I want the next book in my hands like. now. Instant buy status! I don't have any bad words to say about this book. I loved it and couldn't put it down.
5 Stars!
