This book is kind of average. The romance was cute. The plot existed. The characters had personality. That is all I ask for in a book. Weekend Arrangement had all of this but that is about all I can say.

The story of Olivia and Daniel.

After splitting with her boyfriend, Olivia knows she needs to make some money, and has a chance when a published wants to pick up her single-girl travel guides.

At her first meeting with the publishers, she meets Daniel, who is charge of the publishing house. As much as he knows he should keep away, he is drawn to Olivia, and soon they embark on their weekend arrangement. Someone is plotting to keep them apart so do they stand a chance at being together long term?

The characters leap off the page in this book, they are likeable with good qualities about them. Sophie has a unique writing style of witt and humour with a great use of language. The story flows with ease and is throughly enjoyable. I’m looking forward to her next book.

Freelance writer and part-time librarian Olivia is at loose ends. After finding her boyfriend in a public and very compromising position, she’s got to make changes, and now’s the time. But an unexpected contact from a publisher expressing interest in her writing and her travel journals just may be the break she’s looking for.

Daniel is the CEO of the publishing house and has long been a worry for his family with his avowed playboy ways and the never-ending series of different women and no relationships through his life. He’s meeting with Olivia and finds her an interesting person, and rather unique – and she’s got some ideas that really have his publishing genes excited.

The two start on a relationship that is far more ‘Olivia’s idea’ than Daniel’s at the start. And there’s where I had issues with Olivia – desperate to be defined by a relationship – she's not sorting out one issue before jumping into the next. And we see why Daniel has such a pitiful relationship history: it’s not really because he’s a playboy – but he’s got some issues that tend toward stalking and controlling, and he just made me uncomfortable. And Olivia saw none of this in all that time – more concerned with the state of being in a relationship than actually being in a healthy one. It was problematic for me, and that made the read rather difficult. The writing was wonderful, and both characters came to life with all their foibles and flaws, and the conversations were snappy and well-timed, but there was a general unease that I had with the relationship – and the lack of growth that either character showed that left this more as a ‘tale of caution’ for me than a ‘toss all cares to the winds and just enjoy’ sort of read.

But others will like the twists and unusual premise, the writerly Olivia who does romanticize all her experiences, and even Daniel’s character isn’t without redemption – I just didn’t see enough of a change in time to make me feel that this was a match for the ages.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the author via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This was a highly enjoyable book. It’s not perfect, but it hit the goal, I laughed out loud reading stuff Olivia said or thought. She is so funny and real and oh I so wished she could be my friend! We got to see so many sides of her personality, it would have been even better to know a bit much about Daniel.
The storyline is really good, I enjoyed the rythm, I would have liked a little bit more to the story, to see Liv and Daniel’s story develop a little bit more.
I would have liked a little more from Daniel’s side, to get to understand him a little more like we get to know and understand Liv.
It’s not a perfect book, but I will definitely look out for new releases frome Sophie Penhaligon.

When opposites attract, sparks fly … Aspiring travel writer Olivia Jefferson has a penchant for tequila and an interesting dress code.

When she discovers her live-in boyfriend in a compromising situation, she realizes she will either have to face poverty or buckle down and get a proper job.

A call from a prestigious publishing house interested in her travel guides appears to be the golden opportunity she’s been waiting for, along with a proposition she wasn’t expecting. Suave & sophisticated businessman Daniel Lane has been living his life on autopilot.

When circumstances force him to take over the family publishing business, he finds himself living a life that lacks the adventure he so desperately craves. That is until Olivia walks into his life and turns it on its head.

He finds himself drawn to this rather unconventional girl, but can he have his cake and eat it too, or will he have to sacrifice his well-ordered lifestyle in order to live the life of his dreams?

Olivia is having a rough relationship with her boyfriend Mark and then catches him cheating. Meanwhile she receives the publishing offer for her travel book she was long waiting for. At this publishing firm she meets the owner Daniel who is the "most eligible bachelor".

Daniel Lane was instantly attracted to Olivia but can not be seen dating an author in the firm so they find an arrangement. Weekends at the cottage and weekdays no one can see them together. Soon there are problems caused due to this arrangement. But the problem for me was that everything was resolved quickly within a few pages. There is also a fifty shades of grey vibes to the whole story.

This was an adorable story! I loved how protective Daniel was! It was also easily understandable how Olivia could misconstrue that to mean something else. Olivia was hilarious! I totally relate to her character. She was spontaneous, and loud. She has fun! She brings life to a room. I am glad these 2 found each other.

I really wanted to like this book, and had high hopes. There were multiple times that I wanted to set it as DNF, but I pushed through.
This whole story gives off 50 Shades of Grey vibes, but I feel like in the current times this book didn’t sit right with me. Daniel gave me the creeps! He came on way too strong and he had a stalker vibe and was very controlling. In my opinion he was a man of power and pried on a female in a lesser position.
SPOILER: The fact that he basically forced her to stay the night with him absolutely disgusted me!
When I first started reading it I thought that Olivia was going to be this quirky, free spirited, spitfire. However as the book went on she seemed naïve and just did whatever Daniel wanted.
I honestly didn’t see much of a storyline, all it was is one graphic sex scene after another, mixed in with some creepy, and possessiveness from Daniel.

Maybe this book is for some people but it was definitely not for me.

I believe this book had potential.

I liked the premise, it’s nothing new, but still enjoyable.

I loved Olivia. She was cute and quirky in the best way. I really enjoyed her personality. I liked Daniel, but I also felt really disconnected from him because his passion and sexual needs for Olivia overshadow anything else about him. Olivia on one hand felt like more of an actual character with a background, whereas Daniel’s character talked about certain aspects of himself (mainly the business) and everything else was swept away in a conversation that we’re told happened, but don’t know the details of.

Details are something I think this book lacked in certain areas. Conversations and other actions in the story were skimmed over. I can’t say that anything that was “skimmed over” was necessarily vital to the storyline, but I think it would’ve really brought the characters to life and made the book better.

The writing style of this author is personally not for me. I do think it could use a little more development and possibly maturity. Especially in regards to Daniel’s character because even though he’s supposed to be older, he sometimes really just came off as a horny teenager.

With that, the relationship between Daniel and Olivia seemed more sex driven. They definitely had chemistry. The spicy scenes could also use some development, because while they were steamy, the dialogue and again writing could’ve been better. I had some cringy moments there. I did love their witty banter back and forth and how Daniel could let his guard with Olivia to let that side of him out more. I also liked how Daniel did the little things like bringing blankets or jackets just in case she got cold or asking her permission before doing certain things, and just overall being very attentive to her needs, but it could also come off as coddling.

However, I did not like the overuse of nicknames like sex kitten, kitten, minx, sweetheart, honey, and etc. It wasn’t the nicknames themselves, just that they were overused and like he couldn’t decide what to stick with. I also didn’t like that even though they had a weekend arrangement that they really had to sneak around to where she had to walk home or they had to meet in the back of buildings and such. I get that he’s a handsome, successful businessman of a popular publishing house, but it’s not like there’s paparazzi around every corner trying to see who he’s with. Maybe that’s just odd to me because publishing house owners in reality don’t get that much press, at least not as far as I know. I didn’t like how the secrecy and sneaking around was all just to save face for his business. I just felt like Olivia was really selling herself short and that it undermined the idea that Daniel has very strong and real feelings for Olivia, but I also get that it’s part of the narrative the author wanted to write.

While there are rebuttals to aspects that I liked, it just shows why it fell short of it’s potential for me. Essentially, it begins and ends with the writing.

An enjoyable read - a bit Mills & Boon with added sex, but well written. The storyline is fairly predictable, but sometimes that is all you want with a book.

This was an ok read for me.
I enjoyed the setting and the heroine but the other elements of the story left me wanting more.

I loved this story from the very beginning to the very end. Straight away I fell in love with the main character Olivia. I felt I went through all the emotions with Olivia in this story. It is very relatable which is what I love most about a book!
And then the Hot Mr.Lane, wow! I loved their relationship, which brought lots of romance to the book and a nice amount of hot filth too.
I would highly recommend this book, it has a little bit of everything, romance, shock and suspense. I hope this book does really well cause the author deserves it.

When Olivia walks into her boyfriend's favorite bar and finds him in a compromising situation with another woman, she kicks him out of their apartment but then faces the reality of looming rent and utility bills. As an aspiring writer of travel guides for women, she gets an invitation to a publishing house to sell her books. The owner, Daniel Lane is instantly attracted to Olivia, but he can't be seen dating one of his authors. So he comes up with a solution...weekends at his cabin on the lake. He is also concerned about his very public image and how the paparazzi would slaughter her character in the gossip rags. But as time goes on, she wonders why he's hiding her away from his real life.
I loved Olivia's bubbly carefree attitude. She was a little naïve about her situation with Daniel though. And as the book continued it just seemed like one graphic sex scene after another. The story would have been just as good without all of that.

Weekend Arrangement by Sophie Penhaligon is a contemporary romance currently scheduled for release on August 1 2021. He finds himself drawn to this rather unconventional girl, but can he have his cake and eat it too, or will he have to sacrifice his well-ordered lifestyle in order to live the life of his dreams?

Weekend Arrangement is a book that left me with mixed feelings. In fact, there were moments when I almost put it aside and marked it as DNF. I thought Daniel came off a bit creepy on the beginning, verging on stalker and more than a little arrogant. The creepy, stalker vibe got worse rather than better as the story continued. He was sneaky and controlling- and things that should have come off as caring or thoughtful only made him feel more manipulative to me. On the other hand, I liked Olivia but then she was framed as the sterotype of the perfectly imperfect girl that everyone wants but does not recognize her own worth. I love an honestly quirky character, but I felt that that's not what she turned out to be. The innocent but crazy drunk and seductive dichotomy just did nothing for me. I thought the set up and story line really could have worked, I liked the secondary characters for the most part, and the occasional commentary from their thoughts that came into the story worked fairly well. However, I felt so weary of Daniel through the whole book- like it was an instruction guide for falling into an emotional and financially abusive relationship rather than a romance.

Weekend Arrangement is a romance I found to be a bit problematic, but others might enjoy it.

3.5 stars if I'm being ruthlessly honest.

I had read this author's previous book which involved an archaeologist and it was a great read so I was happy to give this book a go to.

Olivia is just stuck in a rut with her boyfriend and her job in the library. She aspires to be a writer, writing travel books for single women. She finally gets some interest in her premise and meets the CEO of the company, Daniel. Daniel is a playboy of the highest order, his family and friends have just about given up on him having a relationship with anyone.

Olivia was an interesting character but she does tend to just go from one relationship to the next, almost as though she can't just live without being in a relationship. She is also painted as somewhat of a party girl which I thought was kind of unfair. Daniel could make some readers uncomfortable as he can be possessive, dominating, and a tad stalkerish!

I thought the reasoning for Olivia's books was a superb one, I just thought she kind of lost her way a bit with her ambition when she got involved with Daniel. Lottie is Olivia's BFF and a true trust fund baby and is always ready with a killer outfit for Olivia to wear.

Daniel does ride the line between possessive and obsessive and I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable being in a relationship with him. However, the dialogue is snappy and the pace is good. There are a few quirky moments and she does take Daniels player mentality in her stride.

Triggers: Sexual Assault (not involving main characters)

A playboy rich businessman meets his match when he is introduced to a quirky, fun loving woman. Their story is almost hidden by numerous romps in the sack.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Okay in this book we get to meet Olivia a very unique girl in personality and style that just came off a relationship and also Daniel a young CEO with became enchanted of Olivia.
At the beginning of the book I kind of dragged on because of the low pace and after this I couldn't commit. The story is fun although Daniel was a little bit stalkerish.
Definetly not 100% for me but entertaining nontheless.

Thank you to the publishing team and NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book.

the premise of this book sucked me in, but the characters were just too flat and cliche to really connect with. I found myself not caring about their stories.
