An Accidental American Odyssey is such an interesting collection of interconnected stories based on immigration experiences, but not exactly in a fully heartwarming capacity. One word to describe it may be “weird,” but my read-through of each story showed me the surrealism and ironic humor used in the face of little else during big changes and little clarity on the outcomes.
I wanted to like this more than I did, but I just found the variations in quality of the stories to be a bit jarring.
This is a rather interesting collection of short stories. The author clearly has a passion for sharing the human struggle, referencing his past in the Soviet Union, contrasted with Americanization and American challenges, reflecting the author's past and present.
Each story has it's own level of humor and satire, though admittedly there are references I do not completely understand.
However, for anyone looking for some easy going short stories, consider this read!
