This is a perfect fit for readers who crave a heartwarming, small-town romance with a strong focus on family, love, and second chances, as it expertly weaves together themes of attraction, commitment, and the joys of unexpected parenthood.
Julie is a vet who has a horse that Jake wants to buy. Julie refuses to sell her horse but instead offers to stud the horse with Jake instead. Jake wants ownership and is used to getting what he wants. Julie does not back down and explains to him that she does not like being told, or ordered what to do she already had that with her ex. The two of them have a passion and attraction so one night at a bar he continues the talk and then they end up sharing a bed together. Later when she ends up pregnant he feels they can work everything out and even agrees to her stud of the horse. Until she overhears his brother talking to him and thinks that he has a ploy and is not really in love with her or the baby she leaves and leaves him wondering what had happened. He must now figure out what happened and what to do about it. A very good story.
Rancher Jake Thorne needs a new stud horse—And he’s got his eye on a prize stallion owned by the beautiful local vet, Julia Letts. Problem is, Julia refuses to part with the handsome horse.
Jake’s a man who's used to getting what he wants. But the more he butts heads with Julia, the harder it gets to deny their mutual attraction. And after an unforgettable night of passion, Julia makes it clear she isn’t the sort of woman to have a casual fling. Now, for the first time in his life, Jake isn’t sure what he wants…
Julia thinks she has Jake's number... he’s all charm and no commitment. But when she finds out she’s pregnant, she suddenly has a hot cowboy hovering around her—one who seems just as excited about being a father as she is about being a mom. Sure, he’s stubborn as a mule. But she can’t deny he makes her heart pound…
Can't these two stop fighting long enough to realize they’re exactly what each other needs?
Great book fully worth a read
Cowboy's Pregnant Partner is book three in Leslie North's Thorne Ranch Brothers series. While it is book three in the series in no way do you have to read the other books to understand what's going on in the series. I have read book two, which I very much recommend, but I haven't read the first one and I didn't feel like I was missing anything.
Rancher Jake Thorne is on a mission, he's wants to bring his ranch back to where it was when his father was running the ranch. To do that he needs a good stud horse, and the one he wants happens to belong to his local veterinarian and neighbor, Dr. Julia Letts. The problem? She isn't willing to sell her best horse Twister, she'll only stud him, but Jake wants exclusive rights to Twister so he can build a brand on him.
The more time Julia and Jake start spending together, unknown feelings start to surface between them and their fights over Twister turns to passion. Soon after the two start dating Julia finds out that she's pregnant, while it's a shock Julia can't help but be overjoyed because she didn't think she could ever have kids. But telling Jake is a challenge for her. Jake truly loves Julia but he can't help but see the benefits of dating will bring him in terms of Twister, but he doesn't tell Julia what he's thinking. How will things turn
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was an interesting read. I've enjoyed the pregnancy trope when I've come across it and I didn't have a problem with it in this book. Unfortunately, I did have a couple of problems with the main characters. Jake's character seemed to evolve away from his original get-what-he-wants attitude until he was confronted and then he always reverted right back to it. I didn't enjoy how whiny Julia was. I think the point was for both of them to come across as stubborn and need to meet in the middle. Instead, it felt like they just decided near the end to stop being stubborn.
The sex was incredibly hot and Leslie North's writing worked well for this novel. I wish the non-sex scenes had more depth so that the sex was just that much more meaningful. I recommend checking this novel out if you're looking for some sexy cowboys and a pregnancy trope, but not if you're looking for much in the character development department. I do believe there are many people out there who will love this read.
Cowboy's Pregnant Partner is the third and last in a series about three brothers in the town of Darby's Crossing. I read book 1 but somehow missed book 2, so I was glad to have a chance to return to the series to see how it all panned out. The book does fine as a standalone.
After his father and older brother died several years ago, Jake Thorne took over the running of his family's ranch. Rather than trusting his instincts, he's been following his brother's plan with lackluster results. Seeing an opportunity to improve his stock, he approaches the town vet, Julia Letts, to see about buying her stallion Twister. Julia isn't selling, but she does need funds to modernize her practice. She counters by offering to discuss stud fees.
Neither plans to bend, but that doesn't stop them from giving in to the attraction between them, an attraction that leads to the titular "pregnant partner." Both are thrilled, actually--Julia has PCOS and her chances of getting pregnant were supposedly slim to none (not entirely sure that's true of PCOS; I really needed either more info on her case or a more plausible condition to buy it)--but their varying ideas about what happens next derail their relationship.
Julia is a mostly good character. She's strong and has an interesting career, though I wish there was more of that career written into the story; her rivalry with a new corporate vet practice has promise but never gains traction. Her reasons for doubting Jake are reasonable. Jake, however, comes across as really immature in his tendency to railroad over Julia's needs and wishes. He's a nice guy though who eventually sees the light, even if he needs to be smacked upside the head with it.
Julia and Jake's chemistry is what is really lacking, and their transformation from acquaintances to lovers to actually being in love is hard to believe. I'm still not entirely sure why they love each other.
All these complaints aside, this short book was a decent read. I easily polished it off in an afternoon.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
This is a good book. The two main characters are Julia and Jake. They have known each other all their lives. Julia is independent. Jake is very supportive and take charge. They butt heads. They eventually figure out compromise and fall in love.
Our main characters don't have any chemistry at all and their conversations are very dry and boring and that sucks because they are the main characters. We should be supporting them and swooning over them. But no, their conversations are so hard to read because there's no emotion, no chemistry, no anything. Jake does not speak like a real human being and it takes me out of the story every time he has a line because it's so emotionless and it feels like he is boringly reading a book. I liked the concept, but I wished the dialogues were crafted better and resemble how people and real human being speaks. The individual characterization is okay, but I wished the chemistry between Jake and Julia is much more developed because, to be honest, they are dry as the desert and bland as a chicken breast.
Jake has always worked hard to keep his ranch in top form. However, the one thing he wants, he can’t have. One thing about Jake, he likes a challenge. The stallion he wants is owned by the gorgeous vet Julia and she’s let him know, she will never sell, but will sell him rights for breeding for a year. After a bit of negotiating, they get nowhere. They both are attracted to each other, but neither is willing to go there. Then after one night of passion, Jake wants more. Not so fast mister, Julia let’s him know she’s not into having a fling.
Everything gets more complicated when Julia finds out she’s pregnant. Now Jake is just as excited as she is. Here she thought she could never get pregnant and this happens. Jake wants her moving in with him and Julia wants to stay at her ranch. It seems like all they do is butt heads.
How can she make him understand that her independence is important to her.
Can two people that care for each other, meet in the middle. This was an enjoyable read.
This is the 3rd and final book in the Thorne Ranch Brothers series. Jake took over the running of the ranch in Darby Crossing after his brother Luke was killed in a car accident. Julia is a Vet who got out of a marriage with a controlling man and is not looking for a relationship. Jake wants to buy Julia's stallion Twister but he is not for sale only available for stud services. Jake really wants the stallion and they argue back and forth neither giving an inch. Jake goes on a hike with Julia in the woods and it storms. They end up in a cabin and two month later Julia is pregnant. Jake assumes Julia will move in with him but Julia feels Jake is too controlling and it reminds her of her last relationship. Leslie North does a great job of weaving the storyline together so you get a happy ending and making it realistic at the same time. I always enjoy her books and recommend any of them.
I received this book from Netgalley for my honest opinion.
While I've loved every other book in this series, I just didn't get the feels for this one. It felt like Brian's book with name and a select few facts changed. I thought from the title that there would be some similarities, but there were too much. Nothing new happenings. I was disappointed. I also didn't really like Julia's character. She was trying to claim to be independent, but called on everyone for assistance, while getting mad that people didn't react or do things her way. See things her way. She was very self centered, not independent. She didn't compromise with Jake at all. Relationships are give and take, compromises, and trying to think of others,as well as yourself. She was in it for her, her needs, her wishes, her rules. To be brutally honest, if this was the first in the series, I probably would not read the others. However I loved the others. I thought the characters and theme fitted them.

In Leslie North’s final installment of the Thorne Ranch Brothers series, Jake Thorne meets his match in local veterinarian Julia Letts. While there is an immediate attraction between our MCs, they can’t help but argue at every turn. When a surprise pregnancy changes both their plans, Jake and Julia have to work together to find a happy balance.
This book didn’t quite hit the mark for me. It was pretty short (only about 160 pages) which meant everything felt like it was happening at a breakneck speed. I also didn’t feel like I really connected with Jake as we don’t see as much of his internal life compared to Julia. Admittedly I didn’t read the first two books, but I believe most romances should work as stand-alone stories. In the best cases, reading a book later in a series can make me more excited to read earlier stories. Despite this, Cowboy’s Pregnant Partner is a sweet, quick read with an “only one bed” scene and some cute animal cuddles.
Thank you to Relay Publishing and NetGalley for providing a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the last of a trilogy. It reads well as a stand alone. It was not by favorite of the 3 but not my least favorite either. The chemistry between the characters is good, I liked the characters Jake and Julia are interesting. They make a good couple and compliment each other. Overall a good read for a beach as its a quick read as well. 3 stars
When I think of romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. This is a perfect books to snuggle up with on any day. Leslie North is one of the best.
Julia is struggling to save the ranch her father loved and build a thriving vet practice now that she has moved back to the family home. Jake is trying to run his next door ranch the way his late brother would have done. Both think that Twister, Julia's stallion, is the way for them to do that. Julie wants to use Twister for Stud fees, and Jake wants to buy Twister for his own. Neither is willing to compromise, and that pretty much is how the entire book goes. Each one is unwilling to look from the other's point of view or cooperate, even when Julia unexpectedly becomes pregnant from their on night stand.
I can't say that I particularly liked any of the characters in Cowboy's Pregnant Partner, and the story line just didn't have enough to it. If books could be stubborn, this would be as stubborn as the two-dimensional characters in it.
Highly enjoyed this book about second chances and fighting for someone even though they might not be mentally in the relationship. Great read.
Cowboy's Pregnant Partner is the third title in Leslie North's Thorne Ranch Brothers series, and because I enjoyed the second book in the series, Sheriff's Pregnant Ex, I downloaded an advance reader copy of book 3, and was sadly surprised that it simply didn't live up to its predecessor for a number of reasons, and I can only give it a 2-star rating.
The novel got off to a good start with the main characters, Jake Thorne, a rancher and horse breeder, and local veterinarian, Julia Letts. In order to improve his breeding stock, Jake wants to buy Twister, a magnificent stallion owned by Julia, but although Julia offers her stallion for stud services, she has no intention of selling him. Neither character wants to give in and so the argument begins. Trying to get in her good graces, Jake decides to join Julia on a mountain hike, and when a storm hits, they end up in a nearby cabin, have sex, and almost 2 months of arguments later, Julia ends up pregnant, although she told Jake that his having no protection with him at the cabin, that she was physically incapable of getting pregnant. We also learn that she was previously married to a very obstinate and controlling man, and she never intends to give up her independence to another dominant, controlling man again. Unfortunately for her, she just made a baby with one.
Jake is surprisingly happy about the baby, but every time these two are in close proximity to one another, Julia storms off in a huff because of Jake's insistence on always being right and always pressing her to make a decision about everything from Twister's stud fees and service, to possible baby names, to where they'll live once the baby is born, to co-parenting, and just about everything else. If I wanted to spend a couple of hours listening to people arguing, I could tune in to watch a Jerry Springer Show marathon.
Additionally, this novel was sorely lacking when it came to describing what these characters looked like, Jake's or Julia's ranch, why these two characters are attracted to one another, or pretty much anything else. The best description in the novel was about Julia's stud horse, and even that was less than informative and brief. We never learn what any of the other characters in this novel look like either, from Jake's brothers to Julia's close friends.
Quite frankly, I found Julia's insistence on making all her own decisions grating. No one in a relationship is always right, nor is the other partner always wrong. At the very least, Jake is at least willing to try to compromise, and Julia rarely wants to listen to him or reach a compromise--it's her way or the highway. The only thing these two combatants seem to agree on is that the sex between them is the best ever, but that's hardly a basis for a forever romance, and although these two finally get their happily ever ever ending, mostly because of Jake's willingness to give in to Julia's ideas and plans, I simply couldn't see Julia ever caving on what she wanted, and by the end of this novel, I couldn't really stand her or her personality, and actually felt sorry for Jake.
I've read quite a few surprise pregnancy novels but I can't think of any particular one that I liked less than this one. The emotions felt forced, and the novel completely lacked both drama and angst, and the writing was flat at best. This novel had promise at the outset, but as the novel progressed and the arguments continued, I was thankful that at least this novel was as brief on length as it was on details, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
This book was okay, but not necessarily what I look for in a romance. I found the hero very frustrating most of the time, and the conflict could've been solved so easily if he were just willing to actually treat his partner like a partner instead of constantly taking away all her agency by trying to make decisions for her. If you're looking for an easy, entertaining read that doesn't push expectations, you'll like this. If you want more depth from characters, unexpected plot points, etc, then maybe pass on this one.
I devoured this trilogy by Leslie North. I couldn't put any of them down. The story of each brother's journey to love was well-written and entertaining. I would highly recommend Leslie North to anyone looking for a quick, romance series to dig into. I loved, loved them! Can't wait to read more by Leslie North!
Again another brilliant romance by Leslie North. Loved the main characters and I enjoyed reading about the development of the main characters from books one and two in this series.
