I love a great mother daughter cooking duo! However, I didn't see much of the daughter cooking past the intro. I like that they have a key to figure out which recipes are right for each occasion; crowd pleaser, family fave, one-pot meal, quick fix, vegetarian and weeknight or weekend. They even include a list of recipes that travel well.

You can tell biscuits are her business! There's a large biscuit section and I can't wait to try these recipes. Then, the recipes break down into Spring,
Summer, Fall and Winter. The Summer and Fall recipes Intrigued me the most. I did wish that there were more food pictures since several of the recipes had no pictures. Overall, there's a handful of recipes I'd like to try.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

This cookbook has a lot of recipes. It is great to see that a mother daughter duo created this book. Passing down the knowledge and recipes to the next generation warms my heart. I would definitely recommend this book. I can’t wait to get started making this recipes.

This is a nice little cookbook which inspires you to take things a little further. I liked the way the book was split into seasons. I found it a bit heavy on biscuits. Didn't realise you could substitute milk with cheese. The pictures are great just a little top heavy with family pictures.

I actually made a couple of the recipes and they are easy to follow although converting into English measurements hurt my brain a little. Only joking. And I really liked the cheese supplement. What I also liked was that it's not just a cookbook it actually encourages you to involve everyone.

Enjoy!

Hot Little Suppers: Simple Recipes to Feed Family and Friends by Carrie Morey is well organized cookbook with some fun recipes. I will definitely be heading over to Callie's Hot Little Biscuit to eat the next time I am in Charleston, SC. #HotLittleSuppers #NetGalley

Although there are those who don’t cook much and rely on convenience foods and take-out, those who are mindful of the health benefits of cooking good meals at home. Most of us need some help in this area, and Carrie Morey has just published an excellent cookbook full of good ideas. Hot Little Suppers: Simple Recipes to Feed Family and Friends has a variety of good recipes that are not only appealing, but mostly easy to prepare.

People are busy nowadays, so most of us need quick, easy meals to make, especially on weeknights after a long day at work. Morey obviously loves biscuits, and there are recipes for several varieties, as well as casserole recipes for leftover biscuits. Biscuits can always be made quickly, so they are a good accompaniment to meals. There are recipes from everywhere, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Mexican Pork al Pastor, Asian Pork Potstickers, Indian Chicken Tikka Masala, Italian Wedding Soup, as well as dishes from Greece, and several regions of America. This is a compilation of good dishes for most families, and there are also beautiful photographs of many of the dishes.

This is a great cookbook with recipes written in an easy-to-follow traditional form, and will be easy for everyone – from beginning cooks to advanced – to prepare. It is also a fun cookbook; it is well-written with comments at the beginning of each recipe to give insight to cooks and explain anything necessary for successful recipes.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I'm a sucker for a cookbook and this one did not disappoint. How could it when the first chapter is biscuits and more biscuits!!! Then add in different recipes for butters. Omg I never heard of biscuit cracker nor biscuit bowls but they sure look good. There are even recipes for dessert, drinks, dips etc. I love the photos. I hate a cookbook with tons of photos. I would like to add this to my library.

Some recipes are good and inventive, others are well-known classics.
The start of the book was very biscuit heavy (American biscuits that is, across the pond this was a little confusing at first) but later, as we work through the seasons there are recipes to pick up from mains to dips and drinks.
I liked the organisation by season, which encourages you to shop seasonally and look at what's available fresh.
The "staples" listed are a little more varied than what I usually have in my pantry, but overall each recipe doesn't require too many ingredients and some can be substituted.
As well as substituting some ingredients, there is sometimes a tip on the side on how to make some dishes vegetarian, which is great and makes them more accessible to everyone. I like it especially for the "crowd pleaser" recipes as it makes them easier to serve for a mixed group.

Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for this free eARC.
I found this cookbook rather fun and a goid source of ideas for what to make with my daughters.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there are a few recipes that require some ingredients that are not available in my country.
Overall I do recommend this cookbook.

This was very interesting -so many different takes on recipes that I hadn't thought of. I am now getting familiar with American words for standard British or Australian recipes or ingredients so it all makes sense.

The recipes are very easy to do and it brought a change to the food that I make regularly but I didn't really need to buy any special ingredients.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

Thus far I've baked biscuits from this book. This is not a small portion of this cookbook but include biscuit bowls, biscuit crackers, cream biscuits and of course buttermilk biscuits. Every single type of biscuit I've made thus far is a great biscuit-fluffy where it needs to be with a good crust. I also made the mushroom gravy but it fell a little short for me so I'm perhaps a little more wary of the savory dishes but man, this range of successful, tasty biscuits alone makes getting this cookbook worth it!

Southern cooking but make it expensive. This book screams Charleston which is good because that's where the author is from. There's a really good mix of Southern staples and international delights in these pages and the food manages to be both accessible and aspirational.

I've never had the pleasure of eating at Callie's Hot Little Biscuit, but after reading this cookbook, I'm going to find a way to make it happen! In the interim, I'm excited to give her biscuit recipes a try. I usually do all butter, so I'm intrigued by the use of cream cheese and can't wait to see how it turns out. I also really liked how she offers recipe suggestions for the leftover biscuits and dough scraps. That is genius, and I am 100% going to make a batch of cinnamon biscuits with the intent of making the toasted maple biscuit casserole. That sounds amazing.

Nice intro, great pictures, clearly written recipes. Well done, Ms. Morey!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC, in exchange for my honest opinion.

Hot Little Suppers by Carrie Morey was a pleasant surprise! There was a great mix of favorite classic foods and original recipes. I appreciated how the cookbook was set up with the seasons and then with the weeknight versus weekend recipes. The photography was well done and made the food look appetizing. I will definitely revisit this one!

Nice variety of recipes, I love that it was divided into seasons and then included sides, drinks, and some desserts to accompany each section. The e-galley was a little hard to follow formatting wise when I read it but I do look forward to purchasing a hard copy of this once it comes out. I have followed Callie for the longest on Instagram and have purchased her frozen biscuits but look forward to making some fresh ones myself using her recipes.

Great Cookbook. The pictures are very nice with fun recipes. It is more of a Cookbook for families with kids since it has lots of biscuit recipes. It gives many options and different flavors. Not sure if I'd be able to make all the recipes but will try at least one of the biscuit ones.

This was a fine cookbook, but not one I will return to often. It’s heavy on the biscuits and very much an advertisement for the authors restaurant. The pictures are lovely and the layout is beautiful. However, not many recipes I would be interested in personally.

3.5 stars This is a nice family cookbook but perhaps not for those with young kids, as the recipes have sophisticated flavors. The book has a definite Southern slant, and lots of recipes with seafood. The first recipe chapter is on Biscuits, then a chapter for each season. The seasons contain Weeknight Suppers, Weekend Suppers, Hot Little Extras (sides, apps, snacks), and Drinks and Desserts. Each drink/dessert section one has a couple of recipes of each. There are hints and tips interspersed throughout the book, and the majority of the recipes have photos.

Having recently finished “Hot Little Suppers” by Carrie Morey, I am happy to have had the chance for the preview; thank you NetGalley and Harper Horizon!

This was a fun cookbook to read and I did find a few recipes that I might decide to try someday. The most enjoyable moments for me were the little bits of wisdom and heartfelt thoughts Carrie scattered throughout the book. I loved the compilation of the resources at the end; it was very thorough and lead to a delicious sounding Chocolate Cake from Charleston, SC that can be ordered online!
