This was very cute and very sweet. I really do love cooking books and I really appreciate it when writers incorporate so many other factors into their books such as families. This was really soft and beautiful to read and I do always say I see cooking books as my comfort reads so whenever I weigh down my options, a cooking book will always be what I go to first. This was really fun to read I really enjoyed it. 5 out of 5 stars!
Hot Little Suppers is the perfect addition to any cook's library who enjoys seasonal cooking with a Southern flair. The recipes are easy to follow and Carrie gives traditional favorites new life. This book makes cooking a fun and collaborative event for families. I can't wait to purchase a hard copy and gift this to all of my Southern foodie friends.
"Rise tall, be warm and buttery on the inside, and be open to anyone's jam." A good mantra for the kitchen and for life. I'm sold!
Thank you to Harper Horizon and NetGalley for this ARC.
This is my second cookbook by this author, and it’s a gorgeous cookbook. Love the cover and title but honestly love how family oriented this cookbook is.
What did I like? I was a bit surprised this time at the wide variety of foods. From southern, to Mexican, Mediterranean, and even Asian style foods. This book does not seem to stick with a particular flavor and instead gives you a wide variety. I enjoyed the variety and bookmarked a few to try. I think I enjoyed the leftover biscuit recipes best!
Would I recommend or buy? I enjoyed the cookbook and I can’t wait to try the buttermilk biscuits with the cinnamon butter. I will definitely check out Callie’s biscuits when I am in Charleston next! Five stars for a great cookbook!
I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!
I was very intrigued by the title and hopeful for this cookbook, but as I read through the recipes, unfortunately I found very few that my family of young children would dive in to. The cookbook layout and recipe images and steps were very well laid out. Just not a combination of meals and foods that my young family will be adding to our meal plans. Glad to given an opportunity to check out the book anyhow. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this cookbook for my honest opinion and thoughts.
This is such a great cookbook! I enjoy the seasonal organization of Hot Little Suppers. . I tried quite a few of the summer recipes as well as one fall recipe. I have pictures of the recipes I tried on IG at erinmasonhoyt. I can’t wait to get the hardcover book as it is one I plan to cook from frequently! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review an advanced reader's copy of this book. This in no way affects my review, all opinions are my own.
Decent little cookbook with some helpful hints throughout. Some of the recipes feel like things I would try but not all.
I like that most of the recipes had pictures but again, I don't buy a recipe book for pictures of people's families, so those felt unnecessary.
Well written and organized cookbook (I love that it was organized according to season). I’m allergic to dairy so I wasn’t able to partake of a lot of these recipes but the ones I did try, I really liked. My family, however, was under no such restriction and tried a couple more recipes and enjoyed all the recipes they tried. I like that it makes cooking a family affair - my husband and I taught our teens to cook and bake a few years ago and they have both turned into excellent home chefs. An enjoyable, homey cookbook.
My thanks to Harper Horizon and NetGalley for the eARC. Opinions shared are influenced by nothing other than my reading experience.
Another great book of simple recipes to feed the whole family. I love the way it is divided into seasons and I love that biscuits has its own chapter.
I am working my way through the recipes and enjoying them all so far. The tips are great the information is fantastic and the photography makes every recipe jump off the page and straight into my mouth. YUM.
Great cookbook, great recipes, great food.
I found some recipes that I would probably make at home, specially the pizza. Some of the recipes have photos and they look good. I have not cooked any of these meals yet though. The book is organized and easy to read. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
Numerous delicious sounding recipes! I look forward to trying many of them. The photos are wonderful (and far more attention grabbing than the cover). I like how Morey included information on the stories behind the recipes.
Recipes are written at a level that cooks of varying levels will be able to understand and follow them. I like the fact they use "real" ingredients vs. a lot of packaged ingredients.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great cookbook. The recipes look delicious and there are quite a few things in it I am looking forward to cooking.
The photos in this were gorgeous! Though I do feel that the cover was a bit of a letdown. It just wasn't as vibrant. There looks to be a lot of fun recipes I would love to try and I also enjoyed the stories behind the recipes.
Great cookbook jammed with tips and tricks for everything from cooking outdoors to how to spark a conversation with your teens. Loved how it was organized by season and that there's an extra bonus section just for biscuits and fun new things you can make with all the biscuit scraps.
Thank you to Harper Horizon and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this cookbook. My review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.
