Beautifully illustrated classic stories that have captured readers' hearts for many years. This is a reading experience meant for those who already love this story or those just discovering a love of the classics
For all Catherine and Heathcliff fans, Emily Brontë’s English romantic literary classic of these famed star-crossed lovers is fabulously captured in exquisite full-color illustrations by Marjolein Bastin in this collectible edition of “Wuthering Heights.”
Flora and fauna of the misty Yorkshire British moors, along with each of their family trees, area maps, love letters, favorite songs and music are among the treasured art works Bastion creates as accompaniment for Emily Brontë’s beloved prose.
This is a delightful addition to 200-year-old classic, making this iconic treasure even more special and unique. It’s a great gift for all literature lovers—especially Emily Brontë fans in particular.
TheBookMaven graciously thanks NetGalley, Illustrator and Designer Marjolein Bastin, and Publisher Andrews McMeel Publishing for this advanced reader’s copy (ARC) for review.
Truly, not a fan of this story. Dark, weird, and odd. The writing is beautiful...yet the story is not one that I wish to revisit anytime soon.
“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
This book was beautiful! Inside the pages and outside the pages. The cover was extraordinary and breathtaking. A classic of suspense, goth, and love is like no other.
I love this artistic renditions of the classics that Marjolein Bastin creates, they're absolutely beautiful and each has their own color scheme I wouldn't recommend them first a first or casual read of these books are they are quite pricey, but they are beautiful editions to buy of your favorite classics as a collectible. I own a couple of these and they are lovely. Well put together with floral illustrations in the margins and with insert additions of things like artistically rendered family trees, invitations, and letters.
These editions are available as ebooks as well, but I recommend a physical copy to appreciate all the details and the loose page additions that are included throughout the book.
5 ⭐️ baby!!
This is one of my favorite classics of all time, and reading it in this version was such a treat!! I know a lot of people hate the back and forth of this story but the characters are beautifully written and the plot is one of my favorites. I think it reflects how life isn't always easy, and definitely doesn't turn out how you expect.
This book is a reflection of real life and as always Brontë brings it in her writing. Like I said one of my favorite stories, and loved this edition!! The small illustrations throughout were beautiful. Will definitely be getting my own copy!!

beautiful edition.
The book itself is always worth a read, be it the first time or a re-read.
I loved the little added details throughout the book.
If you love this book, this edition is worth a look!
What a lovely thing Marjolein Bastin has done with Andrews McMeel Publishing in creating the
Marjolein Bastin Classics Series of illustrated classic novels. I love her artwork, so when I had the opportunity to review an ARC of her illustrated Wuthering Heights, I couldn't very well resist. The story, of course is familiar, and while it might be a personal favorite, I do recognize that it's a classic for a reason. But this print version - oh my! Bastin's sweet drawings of flowers, birds, rabbits, etc are just lovely in the margins of the pages, along with the full page artwork in places. My only regret is that the digital versions is that they don't include the ephemera that the print version has - maps, letters, family trees, sheet music, etc. I may well treat myself to the hardcover versions some day. I'd highly recommend this edition for anyone who wants a keepsake version of Wuthering Heights.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing a digital copy for an unbiased review.
Another beautiful addition to the Marjolein Bastin illustrated novels. I cannot wait to add this beauty to my shelf!
Fans of this classic will really enjoy this illustrated edition. I was glad to have the opportunity to read it. A perfect re-read experience!
Fantastically presented classic work. The illustrations add a new dimension and invite the reader to a deeper perception of something he may already know. A wonderful gift.
Wuthering Heights has long been one of my favorite classics, so it was a delight to re-read it with such beautiful illustrations. As with its sister edition of Sense and Sensibility, the stunning illustrations in this edition it to a true bookshelf staple.
This is still one of my favorite books of all time. I absolutely fell in love with Heathcliff from the start. The anguish of their love surviving through all of their obstacles is both legendary and devastating.
Possible Spoilers:
While this isn’t the happy ending that most would assume in a love story, it is still a timeless love story. Their story does not only last through their lives, but continues on past death. While many think this story is both dark and tragic, it also holds a magical sense of finding a way to make their love work in the circumstances they are presented with. I would recommend this book for my High School students.
I received this copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is a truly lovely gift or collectible edition of a most classic novel. While the style of illustration may not meet the expectations or preferences of all readers, one cannot help but admire the beauty of the volume.
This was my favourite book during my teenage years and early twenties. I used to read it once a year and stew in the feeling of it, because it feels different every time--I love that my experience of this book changes as I age: who and what I relate to, what I used to think was the Height of Feeling I now see in a much different light given my years of hindsight and (apparent) maturity.
All this to say, the book itself is 5 star for me.
I will add a caveat to the rest of my review that I am told via Goodreads that this edition includes four-color maps, letters, family trees, and sheet music... which I did not see in my copy. I can only review the smatter of smaller illustrations across most pages.
Whilst the illustrations are truly lovely, I'm not sure they fit the tone of the book. They're beautiful, but their focus is on nature and brightness and colour, and that's not what I think of what I think of this book (at any age). They're also fairly small and smattered across various pages, without full page/half page illustrations of scenes of the book, which I think is what I expected. Illustration wise specifically, 2.5 star from me.
“I have dreamt in my life, dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they have through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the color of my mind.”
(this quote I really liked – I’ve had dreams like this myself)
I’m in love with this edition! Marjolein Bastin’s illustrations are beyond gorgeous (they’re downright magical), and I would gift this to any Brontë reader, Wuthering Heights fan, or classic literature lover. Her artwork is so delicate and perfect, I wouldn’t hesitate to get this for my own home library either.
My thanks to Andrew McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC. Opinions shared are influenced by nothing other than my reading experience.
This is a beautifully illustrated version of Wuthering Heights. This edition includes the original story with floral and animal illustrations to accompany the tale.
An absolute classic, that I loved from my teenage years.
Reading it again as an adult I have so much more sympathy and understanding of the lovers and cried buckets at the end.
Another beautiful edition of Wuthering Heights. This is one of my favorite classics and the edition of beautifully illustrated flowers throughout. I definitely want this edition for my shelves.
