Description
The Marjolein Bastin Classics Series is a chance to rediscover classic literature in collectible, luxuriously illustrated volumes. For the first time ever, the internationally celebrated artwork of Marjolein Bastin graces the pages of a timeless classic, Wuthering Heights, the story of Heathcliff and Catherine. Beyond bringing these stories to life, Bastin’s series adds elaborately designed ephemera, such as four-color maps, letters, family trees, and sheet music. Whether an ideal gift for a Brontë devotee or a treat to yourself, the Marjolein Bastin Classics Series, as a set or individually purchased, is perfect for anyone who feels a connection to these enduring literary gems.
Discover anew the dramatic world of Wuthering Heights. The Earnshaw family estate of Wuthering Heights lies in the rough moorland of West Yorkshire; it is here that orphan boy Heathcliff finds a permanent home with Mr. Earnshaw, his son Hindley, and his daughter Catherine. While Hindley torments his new brother, Catherine welcomes him into the family, and the two become inseparable. After Mr. Earnshaw’s death, however, Heathcliff becomes an outcast and Hindley squanders his inheritance. Catherine feels compelled to marry the wealthy neighbor, Edgar Linton, instead of her true love. Heathcliff is crushed, vowing to seek revenge on both families. Torn by his conflicting passions, Heathcliff risks everything for love, and neither time nor space—not even death—will stop him.

What a treat to re-read this classic and enjoy the beautiful illustrations that have been added. The illustrations just make this book more special!
The book doesn't need another review - it's wonderful - but this edition is very nicely illustrated and would make a fantastic birthday present for a Wuthering Heights fan.
I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley
Beautiful illustrations! Always love this book but the illustrations really added to the magic.
Can you get a cheaper copy of this story? Of course you can. It's in the public domain.
But if you are an Bronte lover cultivating a home library, then this is a perfect addition. I've long been a fan of Bastin's beautiful illustrations, and they are sprinkled throughout this lovely book. I wish this were a physical copy of the ARC so I could fondle the paper and appreciate the binding.
This review is about this particular edition--the story itself has been reviewed for decades. I liked the story a lot better when I read it in my 40s than when I had to read it in high school. It's not for everyone., and mostly, the characters make me mad.
What a gorgeous version of Wuthering Heights! With beautiful floral watercolors on each page, this would make the perfect gift for anyone - whether they are new to Emily Bronte or already own a copy of the book. This would look lovely on anyone's coffee table or bookshelf.
After enjoying Bronsteins illustrations of Austen's novels, I was thrilled to see a new version for Bronte's Wuthering Height. It was interesting to see her visual interpretation of this classics, a bit moodier that those of the Austen collection and very fitting to the story, while still just as beautiful and evocative. Another wonderful classic with fantastic illustrations that would make for a great collector's item.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest revie.w.
Stunning simply stunning
This would make someone a wonderful birthday gift. I always love a new edition of a classic book. . . especially an edition that looks beautiful on my bookshelves. I love seeing that there are several classics in this set of books. Top marks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow, what a beautiful edition! A real treat for any Bronte fan. Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite classics, I would absolutely recommend it to everyone. And if you’re going to read it, why not read a copy that looks as stunning as this one?
The illustrations were so pretty. I would probably go darker and a bit gothic with them, but it was a real pleasure to see someone else’s vision, especially one that looks like this!
This is still one of my favourite gothic classics alongside Dracula.
I haven't read this for at least 10 years so it was nice to revisit and reacquaint myself with the story and characters.
Heathcliff is THE original angst filled, broody ass, Miss Bronte was certainly ahead of her time with this dark, gothic tragedy romance and it would stand up today if written in 2021.
This version is made even better with the addition of the absolutely gorgeous illustrations from Marjolein Bastin.
Stunning edition of Wuthering Heights featuring artwork from Marjolein Bastin. The gorgeous pictures add to this enduring tale of unrequited love, bitterness and hate. One of my favourite classics and now one of my favourite editions with this beautiful artwork
What a fantastic way to revisit this classic story, filled with new and exciting illustrations that will warm the hearts of fans and entice new readers. Thank you for the e-arc!
Reading Wuthering Heights is a rite of passage for so many. Readers often come to it after reading Jane Eyre. I find WH to be the more complex read.
Yes, there are many editions of this novel and some of them are even free in e book form. But…to enjoy WH and really spend time with it, I think that a beautiful hardcover edition is the way to go.
Spend time with Catherine, Heathcliff and those around them. Experience the novel whether it is for the first or fifth time. And, consider doing it with this lush edition. You won’t be sorry.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Wuthering Heights is one of my all time favourite books, so to have a copy with the most beautiful illustrations is a real pleasure. These stunning illustrations are subtly peppered throughout the whole novel, providing a treat for the eyes. They in no way detract from what is already a beautiful story, but compliment and elevate it to something truly special.
Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review
A beautiful rendition of the classic Wuthering Heights, I reviewed this book for the "extras" it provides, rather than the story itself, as it is one we all know.
The cover on this hardback, both front and back, appear to be gorgeous. The book is also filled to the brim in the margins with small but wonderful illustrations of flowers, birds, feathers, pinecones, and more. One page may be half filled with a handful of dandelion blossoms, while another with warblers on some tree branches. Butterflies, squirrels, owls, and acorns - nature in many forms of lovely watercolors. The artwork is indeed a beauteous accompaniment to the text.
The description of the book also mentions additional content to be included, such as four-color maps, letters, family trees, and sheet music, which I didn't see in the PDF copy I reviewed, so hopefully these neat-sounding features will be included in the actual hardback.
A big thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for providing an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for this review.
Wuthering Heights is my all time favourite classic, I cannot recommend this book enough and this edition and illustrations throughout are simply superb. I loved it and cannot wait for the book to be released to add to my ever-growing editions of Wuthering Heights.
