This is still one of my favourite gothic classics alongside Dracula.
I haven't read this for at least 10 years so it was nice to revisit and reacquaint myself with the story and characters.
Heathcliff is THE original angst filled, broody ass, Miss Bronte was certainly ahead of her time with this dark, gothic tragedy romance and it would stand up today if written in 2021.
This version is made even better with the addition of the absolutely gorgeous illustrations from Marjolein Bastin.

Wuthering Heights is one of the classics. But I do have to say I think it is not for me. Going into this with little knowledge of the story, I was surprised that what I thought would take the whole book was actually only half of it, and the later half of the book is a revenge-via-forced-marriage plot I was not expecting to find in what I thought was a Gothic romance.
However, aside from my misplaced expectations (potentially due to this being used as an epigram for the third Twilight book (Eclipse), the book has a beautiful setting in the Yorkshire moors, which I will admit I did love.
Contains some of The Most Dramatic quotes, so I will drop my favorites here:
"He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made out of, his and mine are the same."
"If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger.”
"The murdered do haunt their murderers. I believe–I know that ghosts have wandered the earth. Be with me always–take any form–drive me mad. Only do not leave me in this abyss, where I cannot find you! Oh, God! It is unutterable! I cannot live without my life! I cannot live without my soul!”

What a gorgeous version of Wuthering Heights! With beautiful floral watercolors on each page, this would make the perfect gift for anyone - whether they are new to Emily Bronte or already own a copy of the book. This would look lovely on anyone's coffee table or bookshelf.
After enjoying Bronsteins illustrations of Austen's novels, I was thrilled to see a new version for Bronte's Wuthering Height. It was interesting to see her visual interpretation of this classics, a bit moodier that those of the Austen collection and very fitting to the story, while still just as beautiful and evocative. Another wonderful classic with fantastic illustrations that would make for a great collector's item.

This would make someone a wonderful birthday gift. I always love a new edition of a classic book. . . especially an edition that looks beautiful on my bookshelves. I love seeing that there are several classics in this set of books. Top marks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow, what a beautiful edition! A real treat for any Bronte fan. Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite classics, I would absolutely recommend it to everyone. And if you’re going to read it, why not read a copy that looks as stunning as this one?
The illustrations were so pretty. I would probably go darker and a bit gothic with them, but it was a real pleasure to see someone else’s vision, especially one that looks like this!
What a pleasure to re-read this classic and enjoy the gorgeous illustrations that have been added. If you look past the mating of cousins, incestuous love & necrophilia, this is a deep, atmospheric and meaningful read.

I will be giving feedback on the edition of Wuthering Heights, not on the story, as far more experienced classics readers have already done so for a hundred years.
I love a good floral pattern, but there’s something about this one that doesn’t look quite right to me. There is a pop of colour that draws the eye up and away from the title, the author and illustrator names, which are all in different fonts and a little confusing to look at. I’m not quite sure what scene I’m looking at either, which appears to be brightly coloured flowers and the night sky in back, but if that was so, the flowers would not appear to be in full sun, there would be shadow.
As much as I don’t love the cover, I do love the inner margin illustrations of birds, butterflies, woodland creatures and various floral arrangements. I wish they were on every page, but having them spread apart gives the reader a tiny shot of joy when they turn the page and spot a bird perched on the first letter of a new chapter. I do sense a bit of a disconnect between the black cover, and the cottagecore-esqe illustrations inside the book. And Wuthering Heights is a gothic novel, the illustrations do not illustrate that.
I do not like the font on the back cover, I almost mistook it for comic sans. I wish that the inner font had been carried through to the back, and also that it was simplified on the front. Three fonts is a bit much, especially for a classic.
The book description promises “Bastin’s series adds elaborately designed ephemera, such as four-color maps, letters, family trees, and sheet music.” And yet, there is not so much as a family tree featured in this book, and there should be.
I am not in love with this edition, and for a $40-$60 price tag, the reader or collector, must be in love with the edition. Chiltern Publishing has a fairly similar copy of Wuthering Heights with gilded edges, ribbon bookmark, and it has clean, legible fonts on the cover. I’m sorry to say, that edition would be my personal preference.
Pro: The nameplate on the inside is a nice touch, because if anyone is paying $60 for a copy of Wuthering Heights, they are probably never going to get rid of it.
Con: No maps, family trees, or acknowledgments from the illustrator talking about why they chose this classic, or when their love for it began.
The book doesn't need another review - it's wonderful - but this edition is very nicely illustrated and would make a fantastic birthday present for a Wuthering Heights fan.
In contrast to Sense and Sensibility, I liked how the illustrations were more earth-toned and less floral to reflect the more somber tone of Wuthering Heights. It seemed like there were less illustrations though, and they were more sporadically placed. The blurb also mentioned something about a family tree, but I did not see that. A family tree would be incredibly helpful for this story because it’s very confusing and hard to keep track of! Nonetheless, the illustrations are beautiful and this book would be a great collectors item for readers who love classics.

Beautiful illustrations! Always love this book but the illustrations really added to the magic.
A classic. This is a gothic tale of love, tragedy and loss. I have found it is one book that people either love or hate. I'm in the love it category.
Pros: Although I've read Wuthering Heights several times, I always love a new edition of a classic book. . . especially an edition that looks beautiful on my bookshelves or would make a beautiful gift. I love seeing that there are several classics in this set of books. The illustrations of birds, butterflies, and woodland animals were so charming.
Cons: I'm not sure the charming illustrations matched the darkness of this story. However, illustrations that would match the gloomy moors might not be so appealing to look at.

Can you get a cheaper copy of this story? Of course you can. It's in the public domain.
But if you are an Bronte lover cultivating a home library, then this is a perfect addition. I've long been a fan of Bastin's beautiful illustrations, and they are sprinkled throughout this lovely book. I wish this were a physical copy of the ARC so I could fondle the paper and appreciate the binding.
This review is about this particular edition--the story itself has been reviewed for decades. I liked the story a lot better when I read it in my 40s than when I had to read it in high school. It's not for everyone., and mostly, the characters make me mad.
