The premise of this book had me interested but I'm sad to say this book didn't work for me and it seems like I'm one of few.
Space with a strong heroine who has to work with her one night stand that she keeps thinking about, recipe for something interesting. It just took too long for it to get interesting that I was reading just to finish not to enjoy. I needed it to be faster paced and for the world to be better fleshed out

I received a free copy of this book via netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Love in the Time of Wormholes. What can I say… this book was downright FUN! Sunny is an total deviation from the sort of female leads I tend to read about and she was delightful! Funny, sassy, intelligent, and willing to go looking for what she wants. I mean, we all have a little bit of Sunny in us! And then Freddie shows up. These two were interesting and compelling and the tension between them made for one hell of a ride.
This book is sci-fi, rom-com genius that I didn’t know I was missing. I love science fiction—everything from hard science fiction, to space operas, I’m a fan. And this book… ticked boxes I didn’t even know existed, and it left me wanting more. I desperately home that Hardy expands this book into some sort of series so that I can venture back into this uniquely hilarious space romantic comedy that had me from page one!
I loved this book. It deals with some big themes (grief, tw: child loss, kidnapping), whilst being fun, super sexy and interesting. I love the two central characters - both are sympathetic, three dimensional, and their chemistry is perfect. A bit - but not too much angst. And the characters around them are lovely - I can't wait to continue to explore this world!
It's been way too long since I've read a sci-fi romcom, and this book exceeded all my former expectations and more! There is absolutely no book on my shelf like this one, only speaking for its unique premise and creative plot. This is a beautifully crafted story about love after loss, overcoming tragedy, and a sweet romance with steaming hot encounters. I loved Sunny & Freddie, how they slipped into their old aliases to explore this fast-burning romance between them. The banter is witty and funny. I found myself laughing out loud frequently. The protagonist is smart and confident and very relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed going on this heartwarming adventure with her.
As a mom, the loss of a child is so terrifying to navigate, too unimaginable to explore. But this difficult topic was threaded so delicately and respectfully in this story, it only made me connect more with the MC and her pain. I could understand how her past made her who she was, how her tragedy defined her future, and why it was so necessary to Sunny's character development. I think we all have a tragedy holding us back from what we really want in life, whether big or small, and the author displays this theme with perfection.
The worldbuilding is subtle, yet thorough. I felt immersed in this world navigated by a pleasure cruise instead of simply being shown or told how Ignisar operated and appeared. The different species and customs blended well without it feeling like a Star Trek documentary. The world is well thought out without feeling overwhelming, something I really appreciated so I could simply enjoy the story unfolding as it traveled the cosmos.
LOVE IN THE TIME OF WORMHOLES was an absolute pleasure to read (pun intended). I rarely read sci-fi romance, but this book was so good, I can't wait for more.
This was a steamy space romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved that the setting was on an interstellar pleasure cruise and the main character, Sunny, had a normal job. I love sci-fi and I love romance - but sometimes you get tired of the action and adventure that the sci-fi side brings. It was refreshing to read a sci-fi romance where the main character is not a runaway princess or a bad ass mercenary, and the fate of the entire galaxy is in the hands of this main character - yet, she also somehow has time to fall in love. This is not that kind of book and that’s what I enjoyed about it. You still get the space setting with interesting aliens and tech, but it feels more like a fun, contemporary romance. Even the bit of action that does happen was well done, especially since it didn’t involve Sunny suddenly having an eye-roll-inducing skill set that saves the day. Instead, she stays true to her character.
I liked the two main characters, Sunny and Freddie. They were both interesting and well-rounded, which made you want to root for their happily ever after. All of the secondary characters, such as their co-workers, the wizards, the purple aliens, Sai and his family, all felt like well thought out characters and their side stories were a welcome compliment to the rest of the book.
My one tiny complaint was that the way they talked up the FFKs made me expect something more alien, and they ended up just being humanoid?
Thank you to NetGalley and Mystic Owl for allowing me to read this ARC.
This is a beautifully crafted world, and story. Being both sci-fi and having a thread of suspense, it's not my usual thing, but I bring that up to complement the author on having written a compelling, honest, and appealing story that defies genre.
My favorite part is definitely the variety of characters. They're all richly drawn with humor and foibles and occasionally conflicting goals. The MCs were complex and sometimes flawed but fundamentally good people and I was happy for their growth and happiness. Freddie is definitely whatever we'll be calling cinnamon rolls in a thousand years! But, as appealing as they were, I'm just as interested in the secondary characters and I hope to see more of their stories.
I'm so glad I got a chance to read this, and I would heartily recommend that anyone who likes smart, steamy fiction stretch their usual genre preferences and pick this up--it's worth it!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
