I had some difficulty following the storyline of this book because it jumps around a lot and is not in chronological order. It also needed an editor or a proofreader, as it has silly mistakes - 'pallet' instead of "palate,' and 'half-sister' when the correct term was 'step-sister.' This book felt like it was written as part of the author's therapy. In addition to the stress of her accident, she has strained relationships with family, friends, and employees. There was a lot of 'poor me' happening in this book which was an enormous turn off.

Sink or Swimwear is a memoir written by a mom who went from being a stay at home, carpool driving, class volunteer to being an entrepreneur when she found a hole in the teen boys swimwear market. I enjoyed learning about the circumstances that led to her creating and selling swimwear, as well as how much her life changed before and after she started her business. I didn’t love that the memoir jumped around a lot. I spent a lot of time asking myself questions like “wait was this before the car accident or after it?” I love memoirs, they are by far my favourite genre so maybe I have high expectations because of how many amazing memoirs I’ve read, but I just found this one not as interesting as I’d hoped. I would recommend this book to people who want to learn the background story of moms turned entrepreneur or if you’re interested in the fashion and specifically swimwear marker and what it takes to break into that market and find success. I’m thankful to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I couldn't really get into the writing style of this book, which I found stilted and fragmented. Also it is not the 'crazy' tale I expected from the title. But a quick, easy and mildly entertaininf read

I was intrigued by the premise of this story- I love a good woman-centered entrepreneur book! It was very interesting to learn how she started her business and she did a great job of taking the reader behind the scenes to how she actually got her products made. Her accident was heartbreaking and the pain, PTSD and trauma she faced afterward tugged at my heartstrings. She is a bit gossipy- I felt at times I was reading her journal and she wrote some pretty negative things about people she will most likely see at some point- but maybe she doesn't care. It could have used a little more polish and editing but overall it was an interesting read.
Thank you Chimney Rock Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As a technical designer for a large international apparel company, I was especially interested in this book, since my responsibilities were creating tech packs and working with factories regarding the fit approval of mens and boys pants, shorts, jeans, swim trunks and boardshorts.
I identified with a lot of the author's experiences working in the fashion industry and it was great to read about her professional journey.
Jennifer Weisman has overcome many obstacles and has persevered to become successful.
However, her book reads more like a personal diary than a memoir and this is just my opinion, but I feel she could have left out the more negative accounts of her former employees and some negative comments about her friends & family and it would still have been an affirming and informative book.

This is a very beautiful memoir into many different things. Heartache and trauma, ptsd and longing. I really loved and appreciated this for what it was and I did tear up at certain moments of the book but it was beautiful and I really adored it! 5 out of 5 stars!

A great memoir about mental illness and a business. As someone that suffers from anxiety it’s nice to see women succeeding while dealing with this. I highly recommend this read.
