This is a short and easy to follow guide with some great ideas. As someone who has suffered with anxiety for a long time there wasn't anything new or groundbreaking for me. What does set this book apart is the ease of use.
While I don’t suffer from anxiety I do have family members who do and this book provided me with a better understanding of what they are encountering and ways that could help them. Many steps to take and try are provided, checklists, exercises, online resources, this is a great resource. Will definitely recommend this.
The Anxiety Healer’s guide by Alison Seponara is the first self-help book I’ve attempted to read this year. I have two teenagers that were severely affected by the pandemic since these last two years and mental health is of great concern for us at this time. Upon seeing their anxiety increase exponentially, I thought looking into this book to see if it could help might be worth it. I was directed to the @TheAnxietyHealer on her Instagram and have listened to her @AnxietyChicks podcast with my daughter. The coping strategies came in handy, and I asked the kids if they felt that using them was working. I could tell that reminding them to use the coping skills was making a difference. The book did not disappoint and gives many tools that she had mentioned in her podcast and would serve as a great to have pocket guide. I will be purchasing the hardcopy for my teens to have as this pandemic does not seem to truly have an end in sight as yet. This review was given on the ARC copy received from the Publisher via NetGalley in return for my opinion.
This book was fairly short, easy to follow, and had real and concrete ways to calm and heal anxiety. As someone who deals with anxiety regularly, this book felt like a breath of fresh air. I particularly loved the diagrams and drawings as well as the specific "Healing in Action" sections within each chapter. The workbook was also nice and I loved the inclusion of the coloring pages at the end. Thanks to NetGalley for this arc!
I loved the practical advice given throughout the book on how to cope with anxiety. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I appreciated the various techniques and coping strategies offered. It made me feel less alone in dealing with anxiety.

🤔💭: First off, thank you to NetGalley and Simon Element for providing me an eARC and I am voluntarily leaving my review! Everyone has a little anxiety, but levels and type vary often and how it affects someone’s life on a daily basis. I think this book is a great resource guide for any level of anxiety and provides practical, natural, and on the go solutions for tackling your anxiety for whenever the moment may arise. This book is filled with many different tools, techniques, and activities that will help calm you down and give you a better sense of control over your mind and body. I really enjoyed this book and I think everyone can find some value within this as well.
Recommend: ✅ I would definitely recommend checking this book out when it’s released on March 15th! 👍🏼
Wow! This book is beyond anything I could have imagined. The Anxiety Healer's Guide is packed full of helpful information on healing your mind and body while learning to overcome anxiety. Instead of trying to find a quick fix, the author, a licensed therapist, wants to teach a variety of ways to cope with and lessen anxiety, often before it begins.
A few of the techniques covered are journaling, aromatherapy (a personal fave), breathing, grounding, and hydrotherapy. I love the graphics throughout the book but was absolutely delighted to see the coloring pages at the end. How cool is that?!!
Chapter 9 is all about creating a healing tool kit, personalized to each individual, to put into place the strategies that work best for YOU!
So excited to take the knowledge from this book and put it to use in my day to day life. Cannot wait to get my hands on a hard copy and recommend to my fellow anxiety sufferers. This book has potential to be life changing. Five hopeful stars.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster as well as NetGalley for an advanced egalley in exchange for my honest review.
I think this is a handy, concise book with the right amount of explanation and relevant examples. I got some good ideas by reading it.
This book was a great resource guide that provided me a full range of options for dealing with anxiety. I really liked the anxiety-healing workbook that was included at the end of the book. I can see myself using the workbook.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review. I really liked the way this book was set up. It gives a lot of ideas to try when experiencing anxiety and tools to add to your playbook to practice when not experiencing anxiety. Some of the ideas were ones I’ve seen before, but there were also some new to me suggestions (for example: the self talk examples for when in anxiety producing situations like the doctor’s office, cars, work, etc I found to be really helpful. Also, the “ground yourself with categories” exercise was new to me, but seems like it would be an easy one for anyone to try).
I liked so many tips and the layout of this book that I plan to add it to my bookcase when it is released.
This book takes an empathetic approach and gives bite size approaches and allows you to have kindness and patience with yourself when dealing with life. This is so necessary for everyone to read in life. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Anxiety Healers Guide
I think many of you know that I work as a mental health therapist. Once in a while I will refresh my mind with new skills and reads.
Regardless of having an anxiety diagnosis, everyone experiences feelings of nervousness, worries, irritability etc. This book is a great introduction to anxiety treatments out there. It reviews mindfulness, muscle relaxation, positive affirmations/self-talk and journaling prompts. I really liked how it didn’t focus too much of the book on psychoeducation. There is even prompts and space to write in the workbook. If you choose to use this workbook or any other for that matter, please remember that consistency is key- mental health does not change overnight.
However, it lacks the depth that is needed to treat anxiety. Most self-help books do. If you are struggling with anxiety, it is always my recommendation to see a therapist. Sometimes self-help workbooks can go hand and hand with therapy. It is likely that you will need an objective perspective to review the work you are doing outside of therapy.
If you need any other tips, please feel free to reach out.

This book was very anxiety-inducing. It will probably be helpful for you if you work with people who have anxiety. But, if you have anxiety, it might not be significant. I found that constantly reading about the different kinds of anxiety and issues caused my anxiety to worsen. I have excellent practices I follow, and this book disrupted them.
Alison Seponara's "The Anxiety Healer's Guide" is a phenomenal resource for both clinicians and those struggling with anxiety. I highly recommend this book!
I have had anxiety for my whole life, but I was diagnosed with panic disorder a few years ago. I always advocate for mental health and believe that we can and should be doing more for mental health in our society. So I definitely think this book is valuable and helps in the discussion of mental illness. That being said, it isn't anything new or groundbreaking if you have sought professional help for your own mental health. However, if you haven't done that yet, you might find some of these techniques really helpful. That is what makes it valuable. We are all somewhere different on our mental health journeys, so I see this book helping a lot of people.
As some of echo siffers from chronic pain that produces anxiety, this book is a wonderful resource. It explores topics such as diaphragmatic breathing, grounding techniques and self soothing. I feel like it is like sitting with a good friend during a panic attack. A wonderful resource for those that suffer with anxiety and or panic attacks.
Anxiety is no joke. Even though I have been in therapy for years, I am always looking for ways to better handle my anxiety. Enter The Anxiety Healer's Guide! Like, you're gonna heal my anxiety? Sign me directly up. I appreciated all of the different breathing techniques listed, as I do tend to hold my breath when I am anxious. I had come across many of the things listed in this book, but it is always nice to have a refresher course! I liked seeing the example of Alison's Anxiety-Healing Tool Kit! Sometimes someone does something that you're like "hmm... I didn't think that would work for me but I'm going to try that out!" For me, that was complying a list of videos that I love to help distract/make me feel better (Shout out to Bill Hader for bringing me so much joy).
Thank you to Netgalley and Simon Element for this arc ebook. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
