This was so very cute! I loved the idea of Donovan being a pro football player while also being a baker! The connection between Jada and Donovan was sugar-y sweet cuteness!
I didn't care for the third person narration and I just wasn't fully blown away by this story!
But still a very cute and easy read!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced eARC.
I wanted to like this, but it was just meh to me. I didn’t really like either one of the characters. The plot wasn’t that interesting either, but overall, it was just an okay read.
Life got in the way and I could not finish the book. Thanks to the publishers for the chance to read the book.
"Fake It Till You Bake It" was a fun, light read that delivered exactly what I expected: a sweet romance with plenty of cupcakes and a dash of fake dating drama. Jada and Donovan have an opposites-attract dynamic that’s entertaining to watch unfold, and the bakery setting adds a cozy, feel-good vibe.
That said, while I enjoyed the story, it didn’t quite hook me the way I hoped it would. The characters were likable but didn’t feel particularly unique, and the plot followed a pretty predictable path without too many surprises. Still, the chemistry between Jada and Donovan had its moments, and their banter kept things lively.
It’s the kind of book that’s perfect for when you’re in the mood for something light and low-stakes—enjoyable, but not a new favorite. If you love fake dating tropes, cupcakes, and feel-good romances, it’s worth a read.
This was a slow, quiet, but then explosive read.
Relatable aspects to each of their lives.
The romance was off the charts!
Real life issues, gambling addiction to the impact of social media on lives to blackmail to teamwork to how parents’ opinions and actions affect their children even as adults.
The pot was well thought out and was well written!
I loved this book. I have a weakness for bakers as I love to bake so this was perfect for me. A very sweet and perfect romance..
Loved this book so much and can’t wait to continue this series. It’s exactly the type of book I love to read.
What a delicious and fun romance featuring witty banter, fake dating, and the charm of a bakery setting. This rom-com is a lighthearted escape that left me smiling with a story that serves up the perfect mix of romance, humor, and personal growth.
We meet Jada Townsend-Matthews, a reality TV star who has recently faced public scrutiny after rejecting a proposal on a dating show. To escape the backlash, she ends up working at a local cupcake bakery owned by professional football player Donovan Dell, who has dreams of making his bakery a success. When a media mishap forces Jada and Donovan to pretend they are in a relationship, sparks fly, and what starts as a business arrangement quickly turns into something more. Bonus, because of the bakery setting, it added a nice cozy vibe to the romance, and I found myself craving cupcakes.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Jada and Donovan, with their opposites-attract dynamic fueling plenty of witty dialogue and playful moments. Jada’s bold personality contrasts well with Donovan’s more reserved nature, creating a tension that kept me invested in their developing relationship.
Fake Relationship Saves Bakery

Too much foul language right out of the gate on this one so I DNF’d it. I was immediately drawn into an accountant sister and baker brother but I won’t keep reading because of the language

Fake It Till You Bake It was like watching a Hallmark movie in the best way.
Jada and Donovan have almost nothing in common, but they could both use a bit of good PR. Jada is America’s most-hated woman after dumping their sweetheart on a reality dating show. Donovan is a football player turned baker whose cupcake shop has hit a bit of a lull. In teaming up, Jada can restore her image a bit (and gain access to her trust fund) and Donovan can save his business.
The romance was believable and I thought the characters balanced eachother out well. I’m going to go eat a cupcake now.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a review copy. I’ll definitely pick up the next book in this series.
Fake It Till You Bake It was a quaint fake dating book. I enjoyed the banter between the two main characters. But Jada's entitlement was a bit over the top. This was an average romance novel.

Fake It Till You Bake It was a fun romance starring a social media/reality TV star and a football player. When Jada Townsend-Matthews turns down a proposal on a reality dating show, she becomes instantly hated. She heads home to San Diego to lick her wounds and finds herself in the newest cupcake bakery. She and the owner/baker, have a run in that leads to a further relationship. Her grandma owns the football team that Donavon works for and she asks him to give Jada a job. Jada must work and learn the job if she wants her inheritance. Nothing could go wrong, could it.
I enjoyed this story, it was a lot of fun. We have a fake dating trope as well and an enemies to friends to lovers one. Jada is one of those characters that if I met her in person, I would not want anything to do with her. Donovan is so patient with her, that she can not help but develop feelings for him. I liked them both eventually and wanted their relationship to work out. Jada also has low self-esteem, because of the way her parents look at her and her life choices. They have never encouraged her in her chosen pathway and they really made me angry, especially because it effected the way Jada looked at herself. There are a few misunderstandings and roadblocks that almost derail the relationship, but this is a romance and I enjoyed seeing Jada’s and Donovan’s journey.
Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley is a delightful treat for readers who crave lighthearted, funny, and sexy romances with a dash of identity exploration, baking, and a strong focus on character growth, making it a perfect fit for fans of contemporary romance and those who enjoy stories about finding love and self-discovery.
A nice light read that also makes for an intriguing yet relaxed audiobook, Fake It Till You Bake It is a cute, light-hearted read to be adored by those who enjoy a good fake dating trope.
Jada has just rejected the most eligible bachelor in the U.S. on national television and is now hated by the entire world. She justs wants to hide out in her apartment and leave the world behind. But her parents have cut her off and she can't get her trust fund until she is able to prove that she can live on her own without it. Donovan is a star football player and owns a cupcake shop with two of his closest friends and teammates. There store was thriving, but they have now hit a lull and need some new life in the shop. When her grandmother suggests Jada work at the bake shop, both Jada and Donovan are unsure of how that will work. Will they be able to work together or will Jada be hiding even more in her apartment.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this title.
This was a quick read for me. It was an interesting dynamic between Jada and Donovan. How they navigate life is totally different, but when they get together, the chemistry is undeniable.
I can almost buy the football players turned baker/cupcake shop owners. But I have a hard time with football team owner's gorgeous, trust fund baby granddaughter wanna be influencer working part time in said bakery. But it was cute. Made me want cupcakes so bad. I would have liked to know more about Donovan's background. Jada's parents were just joyless people. Thank goodness for Grams. I found out there is a second in the series and I do plan to read it.
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with a digital copy.
I had to DNF this book... I read about 60% of this book and never fully got engaged with the characters. Now, it has almost been 2 years since I tried to read this book, however, I want to provide feedback so I can raise my ratio... I just do not like giving negative feedback. This book probably would have been a 2.5 star read for me honestly because I sort of liked the FMC, however, the MMC was not it for me.
this was okay, very hallmark-y, decent and kept my attention but didn’t have that memorable, longevity factor
