I absolutely loved this book! I haven’t read a thriller in years and this was definitely one that makes me want to get back into the genre!

I went into this pretty much blind which I feel like is the best way. I didn’t see anything that happened coming at all!!

It was full of twists and turns and I was shocked several times throughout the book!

I will definitely read more from this author as I was very impressed with the writing! This book definitely makes me want to read more thrillers and I will for sure be reading more from this author!

Natalie, Michael, and their two kids take a little family trip to NYC. They take a family photo outside their hotel which appears to show a happy family. However, Michael goes out to get a pizza for dinner, and when he returns, his wife and children are gone.

Natalie suffers from severe insomnia and is certain Michael is having an affair, and quite possibly that he wants to kill her. Michael thinks she's losing it and feels no love in the marriage and doesn't know what to do. Then she goes on the run with the kids, he frantic to find them and the pursuit begins.

We then embark on a whirlwind ride, told through dual points of view of both Michael and Natalie.
I am not sure I particularly liked either of them, and they were both unreliable narrators. So many secrets, lies and shocking information is uncovered along the way.

I did feel that the fact that Natalie had insomnia was somewhat overstated. We got it - she has insomnia. But this book was suspenseful and their dualing points of view made me question every single thing. The ending was unpredictable and I love that!

Many thanks to Macmillan Audio, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for allowing me an audio advance copy in exchange for an honest review!

This thriller had me reading and guessing long into the night. There were parts I didn’t like but the author held my interest. The two POV’s were easy to follow on my e-reader which I appreciate as I get older and don’t have to flip back and forth! The story came together and led to a satisfying ending. This book would provide for lively book club conversations.

D.J. Palmer certainly knows how to grab and hold your attention from the first to the final page.

My Wife is Missing has everything you could want: secrets and lies; a wife Natalie who takes her two kids and disappears from the hotel room while her husband Michael is getting food and that's just the beginning.

With Natalie on the run and Michael desperate to find his family, the tension mounts and the pages fly by almost on their own.

What is Michael hiding and who can Natalie trust.

I did not know.

D.J. Palmer always writes a nail bitter of a book and My Wife is Missing is no exception.

Treat yourself to My Wife is Missing and put it at the top of your TBR pile.

Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for a thrilling read.

I love a thriller that is full of twists. This book did not disappoint. Michael finds himself alone in the hotel room he booked for a family vacation. His wife - and the kids - are missing. Little by little we get glimpses of what could have happened. Were they kidnapped? Did she leave on her own account? The story is told combing past and present, and the perspectives of both Michael and his wife, Natalie. I like how you don’t get to know everything all at once but rather go back and forth trying to understand what happened.

Present day is woven with past events for both Natalie and Michael. Who can really be trusted to tell the truth? DJ Palmer takes us on a chase to find Natalie and her children. Past secrets are dredged up and clever twists kept me turning the pages. I didn’t really care for the characters, and I found the storyline of insomnia very repetitive. The story starts are with a bang, but I found the story dragged a bit too long for my liking, but it does have a very satisfying end.

What an absolutely wonderful thriller. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites and definitely keeping the reader engaged from 1st page to the very end.
I lost sleep reading this one.

I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for fair and honest review.

This was a rollercoaster of excitement. Natalie and Michael are both unreliable characters; painting pictures of Michael potentially being abusive and a liar and Natalie suffering from insomnia causing disturbing hallucinations and her mental health constantly being questioned.⁣

I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out and waiting to see who was telling the truth, who was lying, what was real, and what was a hallucination- all the way to the very end.⁣

I felt Natalie’s anxiety and fear pushing her to flee from her husband and the love of a mother to do everything to protect her children. ⁣

Michael was painted as a villain and I was really hoping he wasn’t going to find Natalie and the kids. There were so many twists and turns. I always enjoy Palmer’s way of keeping you guessing til the end.⁣

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣
Thank you @stmartinspress for an ARC (ebook and audio) for my honest review.⁣

I really enjoyed the narration and the ability to go between reading and listening.

When a woman disappears with her two children, one husband will do anything to find them - even confront the secrets of his own past.

WHAT A RIDE! This book keeps you guessing through the twists of turns of this story. Told from 2 POV that include different timelines this book slowly releases more and more information. Constantly making you second guess what was really happening and who to believe

This book was frustrating in the best way. Depending on the POV I was reading, I found myself liking or disliking the other characters. The writing made you feel the emotions the current narrator was going through.

Buckle up - because the end is something you won’t see coming. Although once I was done I realized what cookie crumb I missed along the way.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press & Netgalley for the opportunity to read this one early.

Pick this one up in stores - May 10.

I absolutely loved The Perfect Daughter, so I was really excited to read My Wife is Missing. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me at all. I got to 50% in the book and really nothing much had happened. I struggled my way though repetitive descriptions of Natalie’s insomnia, her reasons for leaving, as well as constant reminders that Michael has a secret. Everything interesting happened in the last 25% of the book and it felt rushed. I also figured out the twist (thought not 100%) very early on. I still plan to read Palmer’s backlist and look forward to whatever is published next.

I love a good domestic thriller filled with intrigue, secrets, family drama and twists. I had seen so many great reviews for this one, but unfortunately it missed the mark for me. The first half drug on a touch too long for my liking, and then it felt like 2 twists were thrown in at the last 20%.

My biggest pet peeve in Thrillers is when the guilty party seems thrown in at the end, or information is conveniently unspoken until the end. I found that here. I wouldn’t say I would consider this a bad read, just definitely one of my favorites.

Natalie and Mark’s marriage is suffering. Is it due to her insomnia or his infidelity or both? The story starts at the middle and works it’s way back and then forward. Natalie and Addie and Bryce (their children) are suddenly missing. We’re they kidnapped or did they run? Pieces start to unfold which identify exactly what happened to the three. The story then unwinds how they got to the place they are in. Told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator, suspicions abound until the very end. There were twists, and then twists on top of twists and it felt a tad overdone.

I really dislike writing reviews on books that I didn’t love- but my hope is that in telling you why I didn’t like it- you can then decide if those elements would bother you too or not. If it sounds interesting- give it a try- there were lots of others who did love this one!

Thank you to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for the arc to read and review. Pub date: 5.10.22

3.5/5

Let it be known that D.J. Palmer wrote one of my favorite books of 2021 (The New Husband).

I loved the plot idea of this but did feel like it was longer than necessary. If Natalie's chapters in the present would have been shorter snippets instead of full chapters I think my intrigue would have stayed more peaked.

D.J. does have a way of making my anxiety spike and actually making me scared while reading. I will be picking up more of his books in the future!

Michael is settling in for a New York vacation with his family. When he comes back to the hotel after picking up dinner, everyone is missing. Camera show they left willingly; but why?

This is an entertaining suspense that would make a good beach read. As a friend of mine said, it’s a “popcorn thriller”. You know things are going to unravel as the pages turn, and you are there for it. The plot itself felt a bit familiar to me, but it didn’t stop me from turning the pages.

“She could feel it like an insect bite on her neck, a tiny bump growing in size. That’s what obsession felt like - a bite she couldn’t scratch away.”

My Wife is Missing comes out 5/10.

D. J Palmer does it again! A twister that kept me reading until the very, very end. Natalie and Michael have been having a rocky marriage. Natalie has insomnia and has no desire to be touched at all. Michael is lonely. This says a lot, but there is much more. Natalie sets up a trip to New York with her husband and kids as a getaway. Michael goes out to get pizza and he returns, Natalie and the children are gone. Every piece of luggage is gone; all that is left is Bryce's favorite bear that he never leaves behind. Here starts the mystery!

Michael is afraid that something happened to his family, but he shorty realizes that she is running from him. Why? Is she paranoid because of her insomnia, or is she correct is being afraid of her husband. Why does Michael want to find her so badly. Does he want to hurt her, or does he truly love her. The mystery of the why does not end quickly.

The story switches from Natalies and Michels point of view. Some of the story is before the disappearance and some are after their disappearance. What set up Natalie’s desire to run from her husband? Why is Michael hunting her down? The reader will keep wondering who is right. Is Michael the bad guy or is Natalie going crazy from not sleeping. Murder and chases…this book had it all, Thank you Martin Press for another wonderful book. Also thanks to Netgalley for the read.

This book will be released on May 10.

Starts out with a bang and keeps you all tight and twisted to the bitter end! Nothing is as it seems and is very cleverly constructed to keep you guessing. Another great read from Mr. Palmer!

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC!

An exciting, thrilling, twisty read. I couldn't put the book down! It has a great ending you never see coming.

Well, this book was fan-freaking-tastic! I loved the high-level action and energy right from the beginning! It’s got some twists, some secrets and some great storytelling!

Told through the alternating perspectives of a husband and a wife, we start the story with the husband’s discovery that his wife and two children are missing from their hotel room. We follow him as he works with the hotel and police to discover that it looks like his wife left voluntarily. He partners with one officer to help find her. From his wife’s perspective, we jump between present-day and the past to unravel a web of stories that create an un-put-downable read!

I found Natalie to be an amazing main character. I loved her perspective, and her experiences. As she goes through her story, I found myself rooting for her more and more! I would highly recommend this one for readers that enjoy domestic thrillers with some high-speed action!

This is my third book by DJ Palmer and each of them has kept me riveted. My Wife Is Missing is probably my favorite of his, so far. I thought the back and forth between husband and wife's POVs worked well in moving the story along. The only criticism I had is the wife's constant paranoia. To me, that happened so early and so often that it started to drag my enjoyment level down a bit after the fifth or sixth or seventh or eighth time she stated how dangerous her husband is. Going so far as to plan out getting sole custody of the children without ever having had a conversation about her suspicions. Other than that, it was a fun, tension-filled thriller that kept me enthralled its entire length. I love it when I think I have solved the big mystery early on and yet am still surprised by the reveal or the path being way different than I anticipated.

Its funny that I honestly didn't like one of the marital partners and I MOSTLY did like the other. I have no idea if that was intentional by the author. Regardless of who I liked or didn't, the whole story wrapped up in a satisfactory way for me. DJ Palmer is batting 100 with this reader. Can't wait for his next!

My Wife is Missing is the latest by one of my favorite author's D.J.Palmer. Told in two timelines- before Natalie went missing and after she went missing. Palmer likes to keep his readers guessing and we aren't sure what to believe about Michael's past or if Natalie is being paranoid due to her insomnia. I liked that the story kept me guessing and once the story took off - it barely let up at all. Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy.
