This is the second book that I've read by DJ Palmer and while I had high hopes going into this because of how much I loved the first book I was very happy that this book blew all of my expectations out of the water. This thriller starts off with a bang right away which I love because it throws you into the story in a sink or swim feeling no prepping for what is about to happen so you get to figure out what is going on at the same time that the characters do. There were so many twists that is was almost impossible to guess what's going to happen but what I did like was they weren't completely outrageous and it still made me try after every clue. I loved this book just as much if not even more than I was expecting too. I'm so glad that I was able to read this one. If you like thrillers then this is the next read that you need to add to your list, you won't be disappointed. This book is all about our main characters Natalie and Michael. The book starts off with Natalie on the run with her two
children and Michael trying to piece together where they could have taken off too and why his wife would run off with his children. Told from both perspectives it gives the reader a really thrilling story because you see the fear in the wife's eyes of being caught and having to return, also the fear in the husband's eyes on where his children are and if they are alright. Now not only does the author give you those two story lines he also throws in a past and present situation which is also amazing because it shows you what lead up to this terrible situation and helps paint a picture of who is really to blame and who is really in the wrong in this whole kidnapping situation. I couldn't get enough of this book and I'm so glad that I got the chance to read it. I would highly suggest it to everyone I know and don't bother reading many reviews because no matter how great they are they won't be able to do this wonderful book justice.
This book was very nail biting and mostly unpredictable. Lots of twists and turns and surprises. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.
There was nothing wrong with this book or the writing. I was curious to know if the suspicions were true. But it wasn’t for me. Maybe I’m not in the right head space for this type of thriller/mystery. I definitely want to read more from the author and encourage everyone to read this.
Another great book by D. J. Palmer! I did not want to put this one down! Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy.
Wow, was not expecting that ending at all. Edge of your seat action and suspense right from the beginning and it did not let up. If you want a fast paced, exciting thriller to unwind into then this is the one for you. Gasp worthy..
Thank you NetGalley for this arc
Once again, I find myself in awe at the conclusion of Palmer’s latest book. How did these events even happen? I just knew I had it all figured out, but I was so far off, I was in another galaxy! Great thriller!
Wow! DJ Palmer Author does it again! This is his best yet! The twists take my breathe away as I set on the edge of suspense! Absolutely shocking and surprising with superb writing!
This was my third DJ Palmer book. While I enjoyed it- to me- it did not read like the first few. It was still very good, and I really enjoyed it. But it was slower paced. My Wife Is Missing keeps you guessing until, literally, the last page.
D.J. Palmer writes very good books and it's a shame their name isn't more well known, in the same echelon as B.A. Paris or Paula Hawkins. Highly suggested for readers of these authors and who like domestic suspense.
Sidenote, I'd really like a book about Detective Kennett!
Fasten your seatbelt it's going to be a rocky ride. There are so many twists and turns in the story I got dizzy. I read a lot of domestic thrillers and can usually figure them out about halfway through. Not this one though. I loved the characters, especially the wife who was suffering from a major case of insomnia. I also enjoyed the detective. His character was intriguing. I highly recommend this thriller to anyone who is looking for a wild ride.

A gripping & suspenseful read right from the start! The story of Michael & Natalie a young married couple who are having marital issues that quickly spiral out of control. Secrets & infidelity put Natalie on the run for her safety. Does she really know the whole story? Who can she trust? She’s dealing with her own personal issues that might be skewing her perception. Will the truth ring out & justice prevail?
This was my first read by DJ Palmer & it did not disappoint. A faced paced & well written story that will keep you guessing until the very end. It is a must read for the suspense readers out there.
Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press & DJ Palmer for this ARC. My review is strictly voluntary..
My Wife is Missing by D.J. Palmer is an EXCELLENT psychological thriller that I enjoyed every single word of and every single twist!
The story is about Michael and Natalie who are having a tough time in their marriage. Natalie has been having trouble sleeping, with quite a bit of insomnia and she has found out anonymously that Michael is having an affair. So, to try to repair things and get a break, the couple goes on a vacation with their to kids.
Michael goes out to get pizza to bring back to the hotel room after a long drive to discover her wife and kids are missing!!!!!
I really enjoyed the multiple points of view that alternates between Michael and Natalie with a dual timeline of before and after they go missing.
The twists keep coming and when you think you have it figured out, there comes more secrets and deceptions that are revealed.
This thriller is perfectly plotted and cleverly paced with surprises at every turn.
The characters are complex, flawed and well fleshed out. Are they reliable narrators? I will leave that to you to discover.
The final twist and the end left me speechless.
I absolutely LOVED and highly recommend this fantastic book !
Absolutely enjoyed this one. The author had me thinking all different ideas on who could be the bad guy and kept the story line twisting and turning the whole time. Did not see the ending coming, but totally enjoyed it.
Book Review……….My Wife Is Missing
by D.J. Palmer
After a long drive for a family vacation in New York City Micheal is out picking up a pizza order for his hungry family back at the hotel. When he returns to find that his family has disappeared he will do whatever it takes to get them back.
But Michael has been keeping a huge secret.
Writing a review for this book is really hard. I don't want to give anything away and it's the kind of book where you can't really say anything without giving something away. So I'm just going to tell you what I thought about the book and let you read it to see what it's about!
From the first chapter the action and suspense starts and it doesn't let up until the very last page! This is one of those books that nothing is what it seems and you don't get the whole picture till the very last page!
The story moves between Michael and Natalie but also before Nat disappeared and the present so you get to know the characters very well but also a really good understanding of why everything is going on. Not all at once but each chapter reveals just enough that you want to keep reading to find out the whole story. But the story flows well between the timeline.
I finished this book in a day and a half. I just couldn't put it down! The twists this book takes are crazy! And that is also something that happens till the very end. The minute you think you have it figured out and the book is about to come to a close something happens and your jaw hits the floor! Overall it was an addictive, intriguing and entertaining read! Happy reading everyone!
Thank you St. Martin's Press for sharing this amazing book with me!
Natalie always wanted to take her children to New York City to see the sights and sounds of the Big Apple.
Since that was her plan, why did she leave not even two hours after arriving and without her husband?
The chapters alternate between Natalie and Michael telling of their lives before Natalie left and present day.
We follow Natalie as she runs, and we follow Michael as he searches for her.
Her husband wasn’t alone in his search, though. He actually had a New York City Policeman helping him which gave him pause as to why he would leave his jurisdiction and follow Michael around the country in search of his wife when the policeman didn't want anything to do with him in New York when he reported his wife was missing.
Secrets come out but, you just know everything isn’t being told.
That is why Mr. Palmer’s storytelling talent keeps you glued to the pages.
Thriller fans and fans of Mr. Palmer will again be treated to another of his clever, tense, difficult-to-put-down reads. 4/5
This book was given to me by the publisher for an honest review.
Wow just wow! Told in two timelines - 3 months earlier and present day by Natalie. Natalie and Michael Hart married for 19 years with two kids, Addie and Bryce, are vacationing in NYC. Michael leaves the hotel to pick up pizza upon his return Natalie and the kids are gone. Michael is at a lost, but soon his past catches up! Natalie had planned this escape when she discovers Michael’s infidelity, which then led to more lies. This is a fast paced, twisty, entertaining read! Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for a gifted copy.
Michael Hart was just beginning a family vacation in the Big Apple, when returning from a pizza run, he discovers his wife and two children missing. The only clue he has is a discarded teddy bear in the hallway of their hotel. Believing the worst, Michael contacts the NYPD for help. When it is revealed that his wife, Natalie, seemingly left on purpose, Michael begins a desperate search for his family trying to follow the trails and clues as to why and how Natalie left with Addie and Bryce. Besides the obvious issues, Michael’s past may just unravel enough to put him under suspicion by law enforcement, family, and friends. Someone with official resources offers to help Michael; however, it maybe his eventual undoing.
Natalie believes her husband capable of horrific deeds so she hatches a complicated plan to flee with her children. Besides the trauma of some discoveries about her Michael behavior, Natalie has been suffering from insomnia causing her to be not only a danger to herself, but her children while she is on the run. Sleep deprivation is used as torture for a reason; Natalie has to question her own reality because she sees is not always there.
Told in tandem of dual POV’s of then and now, Michael and Natalie’s story has so many red herrings they could fill a boat. The complex twists, turns, and gradual reveals will keep readers guessing until the end trying to figure out exactly what happened, and who is the guilty party. The truth will out but in a dark and difficult manner. D.J. Palmer once again has crafted a fine psychological thriller being very adept at keeping readers on a roller coaster thrill ride.
This is a story with many twists and tales. It's a battle of the wife and husband, what is wrong, what is going on. An easy story to follow but a few too many twists at the end. Thank you @Netgalley@StMartinsPress@MyWifeIsMissing
This story is told from 2 viewpoints, Natalie and her husband Michael. It goes back and forth from the present to the past. Natalie is on the run from Michael with their 2 children. She is convinced he is a dangerous man who has murdered 2 people. This story is definitely a page turner, hard to put down. The end of the story has so many twists that come out of nowhere. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
I wasn't sure what i was getting in to when starting this one, since it's by an author I hadn't read before and I generally don't read many non-historical mysteries, but from the first chapter, I was hooked. The story was well written and really grabbed me - it was suspenseful without being cheesy and over the top, like so many books I've read in the past.
My one criticism and the only thing keeping it from being given another star is some of the characters felt flat, leading to their later actions just not being very believable and the ending feeling overly rushed.
