This latest book by D.J. Palmer is my 4th thriller that I have happily read. I always enjoy his books and look forward to a new one when it comes out. Natalie and Michael have 2 young children but when they all go on vacation, Michael finds his wife and both kids are missing. An investigation takes place and many, many lies and secrets come out. I did not see the twist at the end coming. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.
This book was engaging and kept me guessing until the end. The plot could have probably been resolved quicker but overall it was a fun read.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy to honestly review.
A fun and fast-paced read, with a twist at the end which seems to be common in all thrillers these days. The style of the narration is similar to a Gone Girl in which you don't know who is reliable. I like not being certain but then I also end up doubting everyone and everything trying to outsmart the author. Anyway, entertaining enough read.
Honestly unputdownable. I adore everything Mr. Palmer writes, and this is certainly no exception. Talk about a nail-biting, edge of your seat read. I highly recommend.
Thank you publisher and netgalley for the opportunity to read this book and provide my honest feedback.
Well Mr. Palmer has done it again. The story starts out well and gets you hooked and wanting more. The character development is great, and the plot is well maintained and done. The problems the main characters faced in this book were believable and compelling. I didn’t feel the need to roll my eyes at parts nor at the reveal at the end. I enjoyed the ride!
Thank you St. Martins Press, D.J. Palmer, and Netgalley for this incredible read in exchange for a review. This will keep you up at night so be aware and plan for it. The twist in the end is mind blowing. I’ve read his other books and I have to say that his books keep getting better and better. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 star rating from me. A must read for 2022.
A very quick thriller, and actually pretty predictable. I did enjoy the domestic nature of the thriller, with the working mom and two kids, insomnia (I can relate) while trying to piece together what some inconsistencies in her husband's behavior is telling her. Good for her for absconding with her kids and making it as far as she did. I enjoyed the chase. It did just feel fairly linear. The twists were predictable, and even the big reveal at the end I called from a mile away. I would have appreciated a bit more character work on everyone who wasn't Natalie (the protagonist) to give a bit more of a puzzle to the mystery.
Very easy reading. I wish it was beach season because this would be great for a trip. I am now scared of ever having insomnia.
What a roller coaster ride of a story! Palmer never fails to create a spiderweb of suspense. This is one of my best reads of 2021!
Coming 5/10/22: Solid popcorn thriller with a lot of twists and turns; I guessed half of the twist but the other half I didn’t see coming. Some suspension of disbelief, as is needed for most thrillers. Looking forward to the authors next book!
My Wife is Missing was a well thought out thriller with great uncertainty throughout. I personally was just hoping for a little more excitement at the very end of the story. Natalie and Michael had a lot of turmoil, most of which was caused by infidelity. I found myself cheering Natalie on as she ran from her husband, but also hoped Michael would find her. This whirlwind of a ride had me struggling to decide who I really believed and if everyone was really who they seemed to be.
Natalie Hart's marriage is on the rocks, between her struggle with her health and her husband's recent changes and the doubts she has about him being faithful, it feels like there is no escaping the inevitable. Then they turn to a marriage counselor with the hope that it will save their crumbling marriage, and a getaway is suggested for them to reconnect. They leave for a weekend family trip, check into the hotel and Michael heads out to pick-up dinner, but when he returns it appears that his family has been taken. But that isn't the case at all...
Natalie has a plan, a very good plan... one that will have Michael running to the ends of the earth to unravel!
My Wife Is Missing is a spellbinding tale that will hold you hostage from start to finish. This perfectly layered domestic thriller is bound to keep you on your toes and second guessing yourself at every turn. Just when you think you have a handle on things, you'll be hit with another surprising blow. Buckle up, and hold on tight because this one will take you on one heck of a thrill ride!! Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
I was a big Michael Palmer fan but never had read any of @DJPalmerAuthor. I received an ebook-arc from @StMartinsPress for an honest review. I was very pleased with the storyline, it kept me guessing as I would think I had it figured out but I did not. I could hardly put it down, if not reading on tablet, I had the netgalley app on my phone and would read anytime I could. The ending was truly a shocker that I didn't see coming. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to review this and will be checking out his other books as well. This is a must read! #MyWifeIsMissing #SMPInfluencers
The best D.J. Palmer book to date!!
This fast paced, race against time will have the reader so submerged in the plot and characters...they will forget they are reading and not seeing it unfold in real life.
A novel that needs to find its way to Netflix or the like...and soon!!
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
This is another great mystery from D.J. Palmer.
Natalie and Michael are having difficulties in their marriage. While Michael blames most of their issues on Natalie's insomnia, she believes he is having an affair and might have been involved in other more criminal activities. Could Michael be dangerous to her and the children?
Natalie suggested they take their two children to New York City for a couple of days so they can all reconnect. While Michael is out getting pizza, Natalie packs their two children up and escapes. Michael does not know what to think.
The story is told in alternating chapters about Michael and Natalie - both before and after she leaves. The reader is led to believe each convincing perspective. Keep reading to discover the truth.
In "My Wife is Missing", by D.J. Palmer, Michael and Natalie Hart take their children on a family trip to New York City. While Michael goes out to pick up supper, Natalie takes the kids and runs off. This book switches from both perspectives throughout, showing Michael's despair as he searches for his family, and Natalie's suspicions that Michael will be dangerous if he catches them. It was hard to tell which narrator was reliable, and this book kept you guessing till the very end. I was confused about who I should trust and thought the random criminal (for lack of a better term) at the end was a bit of a cop-out.
Although I didn't like the ending, this book did a good job of quickly getting my attention and making me really want to solve the mystery. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
Could not put it down!! What an amazing page turner and I love all of D.J. Palmer's books! Absolutely amazing
I've read and enjoyed all of D.J Palmer's novels. I think this one may be my favorite.
An exciting read that took me only a few hours to get through. I didn't want to put it down once I started reading.
Highly recommended!
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.

During a spontaneous trip to New York, Mike returns to his family’s hotel room with dinner, excitedly looking forward to spending the next few days with his wife, Natalie, and their children, Bryce and Addie. But when he returns to the hotel room, he is shocked to find it empty of its contents- and of his family. Bryce’s teddy bear lies abandoned in the hotel hallway and Michael immediately assumes the worst but when hotel cameras show Natalie leaving with the children, willingly, Michael is conflicted. Why would his wife leave him with no warning? As Michael begins his search for his family, with the help of an NYPD detective, he prays that he will find his family alive- before his wife finds out the truth.
D.J. Palmer’s previous books, “Saving Meghan” and “The Perfect Daughter” (to name a few), were stellar reads for me, and I was excited to get a chance to try his newest novel, “My Wife is Missing”. Palmer writes a twisty, turny, suspenseful tale, with unexpected surprises around every corner.
The novel pulled me in right from the get-go, and the excitement didn’t let up until the final page. Palmer’s main characters, a young couple who are dealing with the daily stresses of married life, are both likable, and yet both equally raise suspicion, so that the reader is unaware of the truth of the matter and immediately becomes invested in finding out what happened to Natalie and the children. I made several guesses as to the outcome along the way and the ending managed to take me by surprise!
The story is told from the viewpoint of both Michael and Natalie, and we hear from Natalie both before and after her disappearance, which builds the suspense of the plot and adds to Palmer’s stellar character development. I found Natalie’s disorganization and paranoia because of insomnia to be a bit far-fetched, but it wasn’t completely unbelievable.
A well-written novel with a gripping plot and easy flow, Palmer highlights infidelity, secret identities, police investigations and murder, all with the underlying backdrop of the search for a missing family. “Missing” is hard to put down, and I devoured every page! I always look forward to Palmer’s works, and “My Wife is Missing” did not disappoint.
Palmer did not disappoint, once again. The entanglements were amazing. I can’t wait for his next book.
