My Wife Is Missing
A Novel
by D.J. Palmer
I received this ARC from St. John’s press, NetGalley, and D.J Palmer for an honest review.
I HONESTLY was flipping the pages like mad. I enjoyed the twist and turns even though I thought I knew, but this one kept you guessing. Then I just felt wow this was a GREAT book. It was a great thriller for the new year.
When on a family trip to the Big Apple, a wife and her two kids go missing. But, are they really missing? Throughout the twists and turns of Palmer's latest thriller we follow one man determined to find his family who is also faced with secrets from his past. This is a great fun read that will hold your interest and keep you guessing until the very end.
My first book by D.J. Palmer was called The Perfect Daughter. I enjoyed it very much that I was excited to get to read another one by him.
Palmer has a true talent for keeping his readers on the edge of their seats. Just when you think you have figured things out the story takes another turn. I was completely captivated by this book. It had me turning the page to see if I could figure out all the secrets.
By the time I got to the end of the book which by the way did not turn out the way I thought. Kudos to Palmer for that. I felt completely drained emotionally, and physically(due to lack of sleep because I couldn't put the book down). This book as many have said before me was a rollercoaster of a ride.
Palmer is truly a genius when writing. His books keep you guessing till the end and even then things don't turn out as you think. I would pay good money to see his books come to life on the big screen they are that good.
Another fantastic book by Palmer! Kept me flipping from page one, needing to get to that last page! Unputdownable, fast paced, and well written! Done in a manner that really keeps the reader full of questions, which the author surely solves when she’s ready for you to have the answer! Character development was absolutely stellar, making it much more gripping and real! Cannot recommend enough!
Wow, what a page turner! This book follows a married father of two whose wife disappears with their children on a family vacation. Switching back and forth between the father and mother's viewpoints in both past and present day, we learn about a tangled web of lies, stalking, and murder.
Grateful to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of this new book by D.J. Palmer ! I have read every single one of his books and he still manages to blow me away with his stories and the epic twists and turns at the end of each book. His wife is missing. She took the kids and ran off. Is her husband an adulterer ? Worse yet, is he a killer who may have recently killed again to keep his secrets ? How could she not know the man she is married to, the father of her children is a killer ? Does she know him at all ? Fast paced, suspenseful and one heck of a ride. Thoroughly enjoyable !!!! A must read !
I am a big fan of Palmer’s books, and this one is no exception. I love that the story is told from multiple points of view, that keeps the plot twisting and turning. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something happened to prove me wrong. Great read!
I really enjoy D.J. Palmer's books, and My Wife is Missing is no exception. With an unreliable narrator, a murderous husband, and a twisty ending I did not see coming, this book is a solid 4-star read for me.
Natalie suffers from insomnia, partly brought on by the discovery that she does not know her husband, Michael, as well as she thought she did. Not sure who she can trust, she takes their two children on the run and the story becomes a cat and mouse chase as Michael and a NYC police detective try to find her and the children.
The book was very slow in parts, but the ending definitely definitely made up for it.
Thank you to the author, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. #MyWifeIsMissing #NetGalley
Rating: 4/5
I thought, oh another wife is missing and the husband is the suspect book like so many others. But as usual, the author pulled the rabbit out of his hat and twisted it to his own story. Did I like Michael? For the most part, no. I did like Natalie and the fact that she was trying to protect her children at all costs. The closer Michael and Detective Kennett got, the more suspenseful the book became. I didn't see the final twist coming and I definitely like that in a psychological thriller. I would definitely recommend My Wife Is Missing! Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and DJ Palmer for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Thank you to @stmartinspress and @netgalley for My Wife is Missing by D.J. Palmer!
D.J. Palmer has quickly become an auto read/auto buy author for me. I have enjoyed every book he has written and My Wife Is Missing is now one of them!
Michael and Natalie along with their children have have gone to NYC for a getaway. But, when Michael comes back to their hotel room after going out to get pizza for the family, he finds that his wife and children are missing! Fearing that they have been kidnapped, Michael sets out on a mission to find his family.
What Michael doesn’t know is that Natalie has left with the children and is on the run! She has discovered things about her husband (both from the past and the present) and decides the only way she will survive is to leave her life behind. But, Natalie suffers from insomnia and sometimes has delusions. Does she really have reason to flee or his this something she has imagined? Will Michael find his wife and children? And if he does, just what will happen?
This one is told from multiple POVS and I also loved that Natalie was an unreliable narrator! This one really draws you in from the beginning. Although there are some good twists, I felt that the ending kind of came out of nowhere and felt somewhat disjointed. Overall, a great read! I will always read whatever D.J. Palmer writes!
I always enjoy DJ Palmer's books. My Wife is Missing took me a little longer to get hooked but once the plot was developed I couldn't put it down.
Absolutely loved this thriller! DJ Palmer did a great job fleshing out all the characters and keeping his readers guessing through the last page. Every time I thought I had it figured out, there was another plot twist! I can't wait to read more books by this author! Thanks to NetGalley and publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Palmer blows my mind with every book I read! So many times while reading My Wife is Missing I thought for sure I had things figured out, but each time I was excited by one more twist! The suspense was drawn out expertly. I couldn’t put the book down because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. If you’re in the mood for a book that pulls you in with every page and keeps you on the edge of your seat, you can’t go wrong with this one!
WOW! Loved this thriller. Had lots of lies, secrets, and a ton of twists and turns that had me guessing with every page turn. Each time I thought I'd figured things out, I was proven wrong. I will admit, in the beginning I thought this was a simple husband has affair, silences mistress when wife finds out, and he pretends all is well. Well keep reading, because this book goes off in a very different direction.
Natalie believes her husband, Michael, is having an affair, and she is determined to prove it. But in doing so, she ends up making herself physically ill, and she finally grabs the kids and runs. Michael is determined to find her and make things right. But what is uncovered along the way will shock them both.

This one was so good. I really thought it was going to go in one direction and the change-up threw me for a loop in such a good way! There was a bit of a slow-burn with the story, but not in a bad way. The slow build-up made the twist that much more unexpected. Would definitely recommend!
I received this ARC from St. John’s press , NetGalley and D.J Palmer for an honest review. This is another outstanding mystery by D.J. Palmer. This is a fantastic “Who done it” where a husband, Michael, reports his wife missing. The chapters alternate between Michael and his wife, Natalie before her disappearance and after . There is quite a surprise and twist to the plot at the end. The author keeps the reader guessing about Natalie’s escape and what prompted her to take her two children and “disappear”. It was a great page turner !
This is a MUST read for 2022! This is only the 2nd books I've read by D.J. Palmer and I can't wait to read more. Well-thought out storyline with twists and turns, excellent character development, and great dialogue. Totally addictive! This is one you won't put until you reach you the end. This is
Thank you #netgalley and #stmartinspress for this amazing eARC.
I’ve let this book sit on my tbr shelf for way to long and I don’t know why, I always love his books and holy cow this one is my favorite! A psychological thrill ride with tons of twists that only Palmer can do.
Out May 10th!!! Definitely add to your tbr!
Thank you NetGalley and St.Martins Press for my advanced copy!
Wow, wow, wow - what a ride. It has been a long while since I’ve read something with as many twists and turns as this one.
This book starts off hot - in the first few paragraphs, Mike Hart walks into his hotel room to find his wife Natalie and two children missing. In a story that alternates between three perspectives - Mike (current), Natalie (current), and Natalie (months ago).
I personally love an alternating narrator, and mid-way through the book (maybe earlier), I had no idea who to trust. The web the author weaves is so intricate, and yet tied up so nicely at the end.
Highly recommend for those looking for their next psychological thriller!!
Thanks to the publisher and author for this ARC!!
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press Group for the ARC.
🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 4.5/5 stars
This one was wild. My Wife is Missing starts with Michael’s wife, Natalie, disappearing with their two children from their hotel room. From there, it twists and turns as Michael is forced to confront his past mistakes.
I absolutely loved The Perfect Daughter and The New Husband, but this may be my favorite of D.J. Palmer’s books. The pacing is perfect and I love how it starts with a twist and then keeps building. I had no idea where it was heading. This is definitely the definition of a popcorn read.
Highly recommend for thriller fans that love a quick, entertaining, and twisty read!
