One of the best books I've read all year! This book is full of suspence and twists and turns that keep you guessing. It reminded me a little of Gone Girl, but definitely has it's own plotline. If you're looking for a thriller that you won't be able to put down, this is your book!

First I would like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for this advanced copy of My Wife is Missing by D J Palmer. This book hooked me from the first chapter, I didn’t want to put it down. Just when I thought I knew who the villain was, the author threw in another twist. The ending was another twist I didn’t see coming. This was the best kind of story, the kind that keeps you guessing till the end. I highly recommend you read this book you won’t be disappointed.

Wow! DJ Palmer has done it again! I did not want to stop reading this book. Lots of twists and turns. I was kept guessing throughout and just when I thought I figured it out, a new twist happened. Very fast paced and easy read. Very engaging and likeable characters. Instead of reading a book it was like watching a movie. Great read!!!

Oh, how I love it when I am held captive from the very first pages. D.J. Palmer set out to lay a foundation of this tale and then took all sorts of ways to rip it out from under us.

It is told from the current perspective and also from the recent past. We get the panic of the current times and we also get the pain and confusion from the time ramping up to the now.

All of the main characters have their own personal agenda and nothing, repeat, nothing is as it appears to be. Who should we be rooting for, who should we be fearful of, and who has the most to lose when everything is revealed.

D.J. Palmer is a mastermind and I did see the ending coming until it was right in front of me.
An Excellent time was had by all.

D.J. Palmer has written a great page-turner of a mystery novel which left us guessing throughout. There were plenty of clues provided, and just enough that we thought we knew what was going on. In the end, we were half right. Right suspect, but missed the motive.
If you are looking for a great summer beach read, and enjoy doing some detective work, then you can't go wrong with "My Wife Is Missing".

I received an ARC of this novel through NetGalley.

This was a fast-paced and twisty mystery/thriller. More of a mystery than a thriller, which I am thankful for.

Natalie is the wife who goes missing, ditching her husband (Michael), convinced that he is having an affair. Michael has a sordid history that he has kept secret, even from Natalie. Was he really having an affair? With who? Would Natalie be able to permanently escape from Michael, with her two kids who loved their daddy, and start a new life?

But there is more to it than this. There is a murder and a murder investigation. Were either Michael or Natalie involved in that?

This was my first D.J. Palmer novel and I will definitely delve into his previous works. I thoroughly enjoyed how this story grabbed me and wouldn’t let go.

***Thanks to NetGalley for providing me a complimentary copy of MY WIFE IS MISSING by DJ Palmer in exchange for my honest review.***

What a ride!! D.J. Palmer can definitely write a thriller with all the twists, turns, and surprises we've come to love from him. My Wife Is Missing doesn't disappoint with secret pasts and lies all leading to a surprising ending. It's not often a writer can keep me guessing but D.J. Palmer does most every time!

⭐⭐⭐⭐+
~ Story is told from the POV of both Michael and Natalie.
Present day as well as ‘Before she Disappeared’~

Opens with Michael, his wife Natalie and their two children are on a much needed New York City vacation.
The first might in the hotel they are tired and hungry but don’t want eat out and decide on pizza. Michael figured it would be faster if he went to the pizzeria rather than call for delivery. When he returns he finds ‘Teddy’, his son’s teddy bear thrown on the floor ~ additionally his wife and children are gone. He knows something terrible has occurred as his son would never leave his favorite stuffed bear. But the luggage is gone except for his bag so it looks somewhat planned. Natalie has been suffering from insomnia which leave her exhausted, unfocused and sometimes with hallucinations.

Things get suspicious and also VERY interesting!!

I have read other : D. J. Palmer novels and really liked "The Perfect Daughter", so was looking forward to this story.
Yep he didn’t disappoint!!
I am adding the game ~ “Three Things” that Michael and Natalie often did…

as I want to remember it:
What went well for you today?
What are you grateful for?
What do you wish you had done differently?

Personal Note:: I enjoy when a story has familiar sights. Have to admit I laughed out loud when Natalie went to Zanesville, Ohio!
I am from West Virginia and Zanesville is near where I lived. It is such a little town, known for its pottery ~ it seems there are only one or two stops off Interstate 70.

Thank you to both NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing me an advance copy of D.J. Palmer’s latest thriller, My Wife is Missing, in exchange for an honest review.

It is clear that I am in the minority of readers when it comes to reviewing the novel, My Wife is Missing. I can normally find some aspect of a mystery/thriller/suspense novel that is appealing, but that is unfortunately not the case here. I felt the ending was contrived and there were a lot of detours to unnecessary characters.

The whole story is essentially an undercover chase from state-to-state and not in a way that feels entertaining. It felt like a cheap rip off or strange combination of plots from popular suspense novels. Yes, many books have the same formula, but you’ll see what I mean if you read it. It is Gone Girl meets…I’m at a loss for words.

I don’t want to say this is the last book I will ever read by the author because I have never read anything written by them prior to this novel. If anyone has recommendations, happy to give a different novel by the author another try.

My Wife is Missing is a slow burn mystery with plenty of twists and turns. It was an enjoyable read and is a solid 3-4 star rating. While I didn’t find this book to be gripping, it was worth the read.

Let me begin by saying, you need to be able to suspend reality a bit to enjoy the plot, so if you’re generally picky about the authenticity of a story, this may not be for you.

Natalie disappears with her two children while on a family vacation. Her husband, Michael, is left to piece together the reason for her disappearance and is desperately searching for her and his children throughout the bulk of the novel. However, Michael has his own secrets that he is determined to keep hidden. what you get is a cat-and-mouse thriller filled with reveals.

Many reviewers loved this book and I might be an outlier in saying it falls somewhere between 3-4 stars for me. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of a slow burn (this book is very slow with its reveals) as I tend to get impatient and tempted to skip ahead. I didn’t find it to be very “thrilling” because of the pace; for me it was more of a mystery. While I enjoyed reading it, I didn’t have trouble putting it down and i didn’t find it to be a page-turning read.

However, I was still invested, had no problem finishing it, and will probably purchase a copy for my sister. This was my first book by Palmer and I enjoyed it enough to put some of her other works on hold at my library.

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s press for a free digital copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This book made my heart race and my pulse pound as I raced through the pages to the satisfying conclusion. The story of Natalie, an insomniac who does not trust her husband and Michael, the husband who has many secrets to hide from her, is mesmerizing. Neither narrator is particularly reliable since Natalie never sleeps more than a couple of hours per night and Michael has a vested interest in hiding his past. I totally enjoyed getting to know the characters and guessing what their next step in the twisted plot would be. The fact that Natalie flees from her husband because of her suspicions and that Michael pursues her and the children had me absorbed and waiting for the next red herring to be thrown into my path. I really liked the character of Kate, a former classmate of Natalie’s who lives on a farm and who agrees to shelter her. She seemed strong and reliable whereas Natalie seemed somewhat weak and undecided about some of her actions. Michael teams up with a police detective from his past, Amos Kennett, to track down Natalie and the twist there was worth reading the whole book. In fact, this is one of the best books that the author has written (and I have read all of his psychological thrillers), with an endangered family and deceptive spouses making me wonder who could be trusted. Excellent book with lots of action, great characterization, plenty of mystery and suspense and thrills!

Such a great book! For me, I love reading a book that hooks me by connecting me to characters. When I saw a character with insomnia, I knew I was going to connect right there. I didn't expect all the twists and surprises and the tight plot line. Loved the alternating view points and just how well this was put together. This is going to be a great summer read!

Michael is worried about his wife, Natalie. Her insomnia is getting worse. She isn’t sleeping at all. He thinks she’s paranoid and she thinks he is sleeping with one of her co-workers.

When said co-worker turns up dead, Natalie can barely function. She is sure her husband has killed the woman. On a trip to New York, Natalie suggests Michael run out for pizza. When he returns she and the children are gone.

Questioned by the police and released, Michael sets out to find his family only to have the detective on the case decide to ride along. Michael is pretty sure the guy thinks he has something to do with what is going on and Michael feels guilty for something he may or may not have done years ago.

Through Natalies’ voice, we hear about their past. How they met, and about his long-dead family. A past he never speaks about. Which now sounds suspicious.

I am not giving anything away here. If you are a fan of Palmer’s then you know you are going to have a long night trying to untie all the twists and turns of this excellent read!

Loved this book, good character development. The pacing was perfect and just enough description. The ending was unexpected but satisfying.

WOW! Just WOW! An ending that I didn't see coming even a little. I'm certain no one will see it coming. As always with Mr. Palmer's books this one is very well written. And, as always I have a hard time reviewing for fear of giving away too much. It's a study in how assuming things can lead a person to irrational conclusions - even if that person is having mental health issues. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Thanks for St. Martin's Press, D. J. Palmer and NetGalley for an advance copy. #StMartinsPress, #DJPalmer, #MyWifeIsMissing, #NetGalley

3.5 stars rounded up -My Wife is Missing is a twisted thriller laced with murder and suspense. Insomnia makes one of the lead characters unreliable, even has the story she tells seems the most likely scenario. Hallucinations plague Natalie but she thinks her husband is out to get her after cheating on her for months. She plans the perfect escape, disappearing with the children from the hotel while on a trip. Michael has not always been his name and he’s been hiding things from his wife. Now he just wants her home with his kids enough to chase her across the country with a cop who asks too many questions riding shotgun. The story keeps you guessing and you will still be wrong at the end. Suspenseful and fast-paced, my only complaint is I really had a hard time with Natalie. The character just seems to make everything complicated and is not a very sympathetic character. I spent as much time hoping she would get caught as that she would get away. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.

A roller coaster thriller novel told in alternating perspectives that doesn’t stop from the first page to the last. Thank you for the ARC.
