Suspense and thrillers are not my typical go to but the description of My Wife is Missing grabbed me. and I’m so glad I decided to take the ride, and what a ride it was, with Natalie and Michael in this suspenseful thriller. The book is told in the alternating voices of Natalie and Michael. The suspense gets greater and greater and the twists keep on coming even when you think you have it all figured out. The writing and story development are excellent. The characters are so well done you find yourself rooting for both, which one should get your loyalty? Micheal.... No, definitely Natalie......No wait......... I really liked that the story rounds out with full closure at the end. This author has an incredible imagination and I would expect to see a movie made out of this one. Highly recommend.
I’ve read a couple of DJ Palmer books and have really enjoyed them and all I can say is they just keep getting better. I had a very hard time putting this book down, there were many “one more chapters” and several hours of lost sleep but it was worth it! Every time I thought oh I know where this is going, nope, I was wrong! Many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I loved the ending! I highly recommend picking up My Wife is Missing and can’t wait for the next DJ Palmer book!
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
Is there a way to review this work without giving away any of the twists and turns and the OMG ending?? Nope, there is not.
A family takes a trip to NYC to restart their marriage/family after some stressful months. While dad is out getting pizza, mom and the kids disappear. That is about all I can say. Other than, enjoy the ride!
I am stingy with 5 star reviews. I rarely give them. This book - 5 stars.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of My Wife is Missing
This was a good novel, this book took us on a journey believing that Natalie, wife and mother of two, who is on the run from her husband and fearing for her life, hasn't been able to sleep in weeks, is her husband guilty? Or is Natalie so sleep deprived that she is imagining things. She thinks she has uncovered a murder that her husband Michael committed 20 yrs ago, now she is on the run. And then Michael and a detective catch up with her and Natalie is arrested.
This novel takes us on a bit of a roller coaster ride, i wasn't sure who was guilty at times, the story line is good, it drags on at times with too much description in certain areas, but I certainly didn't guess the ending. I would recommend as an easy read and would read more by DJ Palmer.
I loved The Perfect Daughter, so I was excited to get the e-arc for DJ Palmer's latest book!
I felt the story dragged just a little bit (it probably could have been shortened) but I'm glad I pushed through because of the fantastic ending!
I did predict the main mystery of the story about halfway through, but there were several other aspects I didn't see coming!
One thing that annoyed me a bit in the beginning was that Natalie seemed to jump to a lot of conclusions with no actual evidence. Though I suppose with months of insomnia, she likely wasn't thinking clearly anyway.
Thank you so much to the author, DJ Palmer, the publishing company St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for an early read for my honest review.
I was so excited to be able to read this one so early, and I just loved every page of this book. This author is becoming one of my absolute favorites, and this book did not disappoint.
This family goes on a small get-away, and while the husband leaves to go pick up pizza, his wife and his children leave from the hotel, and he is not able to locate them. The book alternates between both the husband and wife's narratives, and also goes from the past to the present. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book, and I was absolutely thrilled with the ending.
If you need a book at the top of your TBR stack, grab this one. You will want more from this author, and I can't wait for the next one. 5 stars from me!!
Oh My Goodness! What FUN I had while reading this book!
It's the classic situation - he said/she said, but the way it was presented!!! One chapter was his side, the next was hers. Then the next was his, but in the past ... and so on, back and forth.
At the end of every chapter, I thought I had figured it out, but nooooooooo. lol I read a lot, I can "usually" figure out how the story line is going, but not this time. I really enjoyed it!
My Wife Is Missing was an easy read. When I say easy, what I mean is that there not too much description, not too many details, not too many names. It was entertaining the whole time. I would laugh or gasp, and my husband would ask "what?" ... I don't usually do that. Kept my interest the entire time, and the ending was satisfying.
My first time reading D.J. Palmer, I'll be looking for more by the author!

BOOK REVIEW- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My thoughts: First off, thank you to @carriereadsthem_all for putting this amazing book on my radar! Secondly, thank you to @netgalley, @djpalmerauthor, and @stmartinspress for an E-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book was the perfect book for getting me out of a week long reading slump. I was instantly captivated and drawn into the story and the plot kept me hooked the entire ride. The twists at the end were amazing and so unexpected- 100/10 recommend this to my thriller loving friends. You can preorder this one now, it comes out May 10th, 2022!
Synopsis: When a woman disappears with her two children, one husband will do anything to find them--even confront the secrets of his own past--in D. J. Palmer's My Wife Is Missing, a twisty thriller from the author of The New Husband... ✨
This was a great read that I had trouble putting down. It centers on Michael and Natalie, a married couple who are having some issues. While on a trip to New York, Natalie and their 2 kids disappear while Michael is out picking up food. Chapters then alternate between these 2 main characters, who both have a very different version of the truth.
The book is in the vein of Gone Girl, where the reader can't figure out which of the narrators is the unreliable one. This is a writing style I greatly enjoy. I changed my mind multiple times as to what was really going on. Both characters are believable and induce empathy, but who can be trusted?
The end of the book had a great twist that I only partially saw coming- I had an inkling that there was a side story that wasn't quite what it seemed but didn't come close to guessing the way it fully panned out. The loose ends were all tied up nicely as well.
Overall, this was a fun and fast-paced read. I don't believe I have read a book by this author before, but I will certainly be tracking down the rest of his library! Recommended for those who like mysteries and psychological thrillers. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Another gripping story from D.J. Palmer. If you haven't picked up one of his books you are for sure missing out.
I can only image coming home to find that my spouse and kids are gone without a trace. What makes matters worse is that the police wont help since their isn't any reason for them to have been taken.
The best about how this book is written is you get the view points of both characters and not just the main character.
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and D.J. Palmer for this advance read.
I have read a couple of DJ's books before so when i got approved to read this book i couldnt wait. I wasnt disappointed either
Holy Wow...this was an emotional rollercoaster thst i absolutely loved.. nothing was what it seemed. Lots of twists and turns. It was a love hate relationship with the main twp chatacters but it had to do with the characters personalities.
An amazing story that will have you thinking you know but you are wrong. Definitely recommend..
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher for allowing me to read this twisted, messed up story.
My thoughts and opinions are my own and isnt influenced by other reviewers
Michael, his wife Natalie, and their two children, Bryce and Addison are in New York to enjoy a bit of a break. He leaves their hotel to pick up pizza and when he returns, his family is gone. Normally, he would not be alarmed at this situation. They may have gone to the pool or the gift shop, but these are not normal times. Natalie has been acting like another person since sleep deprivation has left her barely functional. When all their belongings are gone, except for Michael's, he is immediately in full panic mode. Were they kidnapped, or, no, not possible, Natalie cannot know the truth? Or can she? What exactly is he hiding and who should we trust?
The description for My Wife Is Missing is one of the shortest ones I have ever seen, and for good reason. I am not going to divulge plot details since you will be better off taking this ride with minimal information. I will say that from the first page, something was very off. Is Natalie a dependable narrator or has her insomnia made her see things in the shadows that just are not real? Or is the loving father and husband just a facade that Michael is exceptionally good at hiding behind?
Told from Michael and Natalie's POVs, I was sure, certain that I had this book figured out. I could see glimpses of the truth mixed in with the lies and deceptions. I was giving side-eye to Natalie, Michael, and someone I will not name who landed on my list too. Was I finally, right? Had I guessed how a DJ Palmer book would end? Nope, he wins again.
I flew through this tension-filled story and never put enough of the puzzle pieces together to complete the whole picture. 4.5 stars
After picking up pizza for his family, Michael Hart returns to the NYC hotel where they're staying, only to discover his wife, Natalie, and his kids are gone. His initial fears they were kidnapped are doused when CCTV shows they left of their own accord. Now Michael teams up with an off-duty detective sergeant to find them--but Natalie doesn't want to be found.
The story is told in present-tense alternating chapters from Michael's and Natalie's perspective, with neither an entirely reliable narrator. Natalie suffers from insomnia and has hallucinations. And Michael has secrets that are only now coming too light. This juxtaposition allows the mystery to unfold, not only of what happened to Natalie, but about Michael's past. Without spoilers, I will say with 10% of the book remaining I was initially disappointed by what I thought was the answer to the biggest mystery, only to discover in the next chapter I was way off and didn't see the real answer coming.
This is a tense thriller that will leave you guessing, not only of whether Michael will found Natalie or not, but of whether or not you want him to. Thank you to the Author, St. Martin's Press, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
I loved this one! As I do with all DJ Palmer books but this one especially! There was never a point in time where I knew what was coming next and the ending surprised me so much I had to read it twice! Thanks for the advanced copy!
I read this in less than 24 hours because it was that good. It starts out with a bang and doesn’t let up until the very last page. Everything you think you know throughout the book has a hidden twist, secret meaning, or is just a complete mind F to the reader…all in a good way. DJ Palmer once again delivers a worthy book.
Thanks to NetGalley and St Martins for the arc.
This is the third book I have read by D.J. Palmer and I have given them all five-star reviews. I love the authors engaging writing style.
In the beginning, Natalie's actions seem extreme and unreasonable. The reader soon learns her actions are warranted. There are a lot of fun surprises you won't see coming in this book.
If you like Gone Girl you will like this book. I highly recommend this thriller.
I received this galley from NetGalley.
I received a gifted copy and am providing a review. Publishing May 2022.
I could have easily devoured this book in one sitting if I had the time. That ending was truly unexpected. As this story unfolds, we are led down the path of Natalie’s ‘escape’ from Michael, Michael having some long-buried secrets. This story also throws in what happens when a person suffers from chronic insomnia, anywhere from hallucinations to paranoia, not knowing who to trust including oneself. Not to mention the detective who decides to join Michael on his quest to bring Natalie and their children home.
The characters in this book help shape this story. Tina who is Natalie’s boss and friend. Audrey who is new to Dynamic Media (the company where both Natalie and Tina work). Bryce and Addie (Natalie and Michael’s children). Natalie and Michael themselves. Detective Kennett from New York, who has a vested interest in what happened so long ago to Brianna. Michael’s mother. Sarah Fielding. Natalie’s parents. Kate, long-time friend of Natalie. While some of the roles are minor and others major, each of these characters play an important part in the telling of this tale. This will definitely go on my shelf for a second read!
The wife and two children disappear and now the husband must find them. But we find a lot of mystery behind this family and the more you read, the more you will be enlightened that things are not always what they seem.
Loved the book and the author is also a favorite because I have read other books by him and loved them also. So settle down for the night with this one because you wont be able to put it down. Remember - things are not always what they seem!

I won't give any spoilers, but, wow. This book had me hooked from page one. It is definitely a rollercoaster ride. Nothing is as it seems, not one thing. Excellent writing, and character development. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and author for advanced copy fir a fair and honest review.
Overall I enjoyed this book. It got a little lengthy for me in the middle, but I didn't see the twists in the end coming which bumped it up to 4 stars for me. I would recommend this to my family and friends.
