Natalie and Michael have been married nineteen years and have two children. They have recently become distant with each other and each is beginning to believe the worst about the other. Each of the main characters is the lead in various chapters. As a reader, I honestly could not decide who was good and who wasn’t. Natalie has become an insomniac, could she be hallucinating? Michael either had or didn’t have an affair. Could it have been with the young woman working at Natalie’s office, the young woman brutally murdered in her home? Natalie takes her children and runs. Michael begins looking for her. Going any further would lead to spoilers. It is worth the read. Thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC for an honest review.
Thinking they are going to enjoy a much needed getaway as a family Michael and Natalie arrive in New York with kids in tow. Michael never would have known the trip he would really be taken on when he comes back to the hotel room and his wife has disappeared with his children. DJ Palmer is excellent at leading the reader on twists and turns but then totally turning the boat upside down to reveal the truth. DJ Palmer is def one of my new favorite authors.
Wow!, What an intense and exciting suspense novel. Full of action that kept me flipping through the pages. Characters that are flawed yet believable make this book a real thriller. I really enjoy this authors books and this one doesn’t disappoint. The story flows smoothly and quickly and is full of twists and red herrings. So many times I thought I had it figured out but then I changed my mind. If you enjoy excitement on every page of your book, love troubled characters and have a weakness for mystery and suspense then you have to read My Wife Is Missing. I can guarantee you will binge read this novel.
Many thanks to St Martin’s Press for the invitation to read the ARC via NetGalley.
This was thrilling, thrilling, thrilling! Michael and his wife Natalie and their two children go to New York for a little holiday. While Michael is out picking up a pizza, Natalie and the children disappear. Michael narrates and so does Natalie, she both in the present and before she disappeared. The narrations were beautifully done. I really did not like Natalie. I thought disappearing with the children was a bit over the top just because he had an affair. But then we learn a lot more about secrets. I never would have guessed the ending, I thought it went another way.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. When Michael's wife goes missing with their children on a family vacation to New York, he is devastated. He does everything in his power to find his family and the secrets that they both have. This book kept me guessing until the very end.
This is one of those books that you go in to blind and then become blinded by all the secrets and lies that besmirch pretty much all the reputations of the main characters as the race to discover the truth is on! Michael and Natalie and their two children are headed off for a weekend vacation when suddenly Natalie disappears with the kids while Michael is out getting them pizza for dinner. What's going on here? The answers are as deep as a well so don't even attempt to solve this by yourself! Vacillating between past and present, the novel explores the relationship between the couple, what goes wrong for each of them, and what each attempts to cover up so as not to reveal past mistakes. Palmer is and adept story-teller so just sit back and enjoy the ride as you'll have whiplash for days (in the very best way) as it races to its explosive conclusion!

I have read the authors previous works and was super excited to dive right into this thriller.
However, the characters were lacking depth, Natalie was an unreliable narrator, and I knew who the killer was from the time of introduction of the character.
This book just fell flat on a lot of fronts.
From the suspension of belief that a New York cop would tag along to find a missing person and investigate a murder NOT in his jurisdiction, the back story of Michael, the back story of Audrey.
The story dragged in a lot of places, about 3/4 of the book could be skimmed over when Natalie is "missing".
To make this story great, bring more depth, more nuance to the characters.
This book was just me shaking my head....nope, that would NOT have happened. Nope, that doesn't make sense...NOPE the ending is horrible.
Overall a predictable book that misses the mark.
DJ Palmer never disappoints! Another runaway suspense thriller.
Michael Hart and his wife Natalie have 2 children, Bryce 6 and Addison 10. Natalie has developed insomnia to the point where she is experiencing serious debilitating side effects. The family go to the Marriott Hotel in NYC for a vacation when Natalie and the children disappear.
Initially I sided with Michael but did I really have all of the facts? Was Natalie's side of the story the truth? Just how far will each go to get what they want.?
This book had me so hooked I didn't do anything but read until I had finished the book!
Thank you St Martin's Press for allowing me to volunteer to read this book by DJ Palmer through Net Galley.
I can hardly wait for release day to buy my own copy. 6/5 stars.
Wow!! This book was amazing, the plot twists were amazing. Had me hooked from the first page until the very last. 5 stars!!
You can never go wrong when deciding to read a D.J. Palmer book. This is an exciting thriller, full of secrets and suspense, deception and misdirection.. I did not want the book to end but I could not put it down. I love when an ending surprises me, and this one did. Really well done.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.
I couldn’t put this book down. I thought I had it all figured out, but not even close! It keeps you hanging till the very end. Another masterpiece from DJ Palmer. Thank you for a great read!
Michael and Natalie are married and have two children, They are just an average family with average issues until one day Natalie finds something out that she didn’t want to know or ever expected to happen. She then disappears with her children to her husband’s surprise. At this point, Michael has to confront his past head on and begin looking for his wife. The twists and turns that happen never stop throughout the entire book.
The ending gives us total closure which is what I was hoping for and it what an ending! I did not figure this mystery out making the book that much more suspenseful. This book is for Ruth Ware and Lisa Gardner book types. Very good!
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. I always appreciate the opportunity to read and review books.
I am unable to read this as it will not download on any platform for me. I am saddened by this. I bit the bullet and put a Kindle for PC on my laptop; I avoid Amazon.
I loved this book. I thought everything was solved and then they throw you the twist and it was great! Palmer never disappoints!
This is a great thriller that will keep you turning the pages as quickly as you can. Michael and his family go on a trip to New York, but when he arrives back from picking up a pizza, his Wife Natalie and 2 kids are gone. He begins a frantic search as he tries to figure out whether they were kidnapped, or left on their own. The story alternates between current day and before the disappearance and is told from both Michael's and Natalie's points of view. Secrets from the past are uncovered, and questions of murder and infidelity abound. I didn't have it figured out until the last pages and enjoyed the suspense.
The Hart family - Michael, Natalie, and their two children - have taken a family trip to New York City. Imagine Michael's surprise when he goes out to pick up pizza and comes back to an empty hotel room. Natalie and the kids have disappeared - no note, no texts, and no answer on his wife's cell. In a panic, Michael speaks with the hotel's manager, who then contacts the police. At first Michael thinks his family must have been kidnapped, but the hotel's video footage tells a different story. What is also concerning is that Natalie has been suffering for months from extreme insomnia. And of course, Michael finds there is some truth in the assumption that police believe "it's always the husband." Is Michael the reason his wife fled, or have the effects of insomnia clouded her thoughts? Are the children even safe with their mother?
DJ Palmer has a way of grasping the reader's attention and not letting go. My Wife is Missing had twists and turns that revealed not everything is what it seems on the surface. I've also read Palmer's other works - The New Husband, Saving Meghan, and The Perfect Daughter. If you've read these and enjoyed them, you won't want to miss out on My Wife is Missing!
Do you like twists and turns? Red herrings? Unpredictable endings? This book does a great job with all of these.
During a much anticipated visit to NYC, MIKE returns to his hotel to find his wife, Natalie and his children gone. The reader goes through his search with him. At the same time, Natalie narrates her story and the events that drove her away.
The author injects interesting backstories and connections. It comes together with revelations and danger about the truth.
I enjoyed this fun read. Thank you Netgalley for this well written mystery.
D.J. Palmer turns one happy marriage into a chaotic mess within let's say: a very short time with this book.
It begins when Michael and Natalie -- with their two young kids, Addie and Bryce -- go to a fancy hotel in NY for a fun, very-much needed vacation. When they arrive, Michael rushes to get a take-out pizza for dinner. He didn't simply call and have it delivered. When he returned to the hotel room, his family was gone. Their luggage was gone and he didn't see any evidence of violence -- just his son's teddy bear which was dropped by the door. He was confused and searched the hotel restaurants, pool and lobby looking for them only to find footage from the security desk of them calmly leaving in a car. The Detective told him to start searching for them with the license plate number.
The author flips back in time with both Michael and Natalie to show what may have driven them to a crumbled relationship. Natalie had issues that concerned her husband with high levels of insomnia and hallucinations while Michael was discovered as a possible cheater from someone in the corporate gym. Could they join together again and be happy? The story has numerous twists that keeps the reader of edge with Natalie's imagination and Michael's past.
I had to smile when Michael told the Detective: "You should go (to Charleston, SC -- his home town.) ... The city has great restaurants, pristine beaches...even a better place to live." It's a terrific marketing plug for the city where I live.
The author words flowed at a fast speed and I enjoyed the race to discover the clues that led to the end. Like the movies, some events were a tad unbelievable with the timing. Yet, for me, it was a fun, fiction thriller with some serious real-life elements and a total surprise at the end.
My thanks to D.J. Palmer, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read this copy with the expected release date of May 10, 2022.
Definitely readable! This book pulled me in from the start and kept me guessing all the way through. When Michael’s family disappears from their hotel while on a family vacation, he thinks the worst. After finding out Natalie took the kids and left on her own, he set out to find out why. After joining forces with an NYPD detective, Michael sets out across the country to find his family. After all, Natalie has been suffering from insomnia and who knows what could happen. But Michael has secrets of his own and they are closing in on him.
The ending was pretty good and tied up neatly. Great read!

Michael returns with carryout pizza, to the hotel in NYC that he along with wife, Natalie, and 2 kids have just checked into, only to find that his wife and kids are missing. He begins a search for her and finds that she took the kids and left him, but why?
One of the best books I have read this year! This was so my kind of book. I loved it! I could not put it down. I read it in a day. This alternated between Michael and Natalie in current day, along with Natalie before she decided to leave. There was so much new info being turned up, I never got bored for a minute. It was so fast paced. I couldn't figure out what was going on, but I really wanted to know. I have read a number of books from this author and enjoyed them all, but I think this was his best. Just excellent.
