The story of an Asian boy who is indecisive on his favorite foods. He just loves everything!! What to do? Throughout the day he tries to choose, but the ending is so sweet. A nice book to read with your kids, that they could choose the best for themselves.
I am one of the many who have followed "Grey and Mama" on Instagram since the video with Grey saying "Thank you, Mama" went viral in the still early days of the pandemic. And that instagram profile brought me many moments of joy in some days that were also filled with quite a bit of angst, uncertainty and overwhelm.
And so I was excited to see what this book looked like. And I'll say that if you've followed Grey and his parents online, that adds a bit to the book. You can kind of see/imagine Greys voice and see his big smile through the pictures. But even if you have not been following their online presence, but you maybe have a young child in you life, this is most definitely a picture book I would recommend. The artwork is colourful and bright and fun, and the book introduces lots of different foods and with such a great approach to it. There is no focus on good foods versus bad foods, or healthy foods versus unhealthy foods. There are just different foods. Eggrolls and apples and crispy seaweed and donuts and salads and bubble tea pancakes with whipped cream and sprinkles on top.
This is definitely a picture book I would consider buying for the children in my life - even more so if it was ever to be translated.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tommy Nelson for providing me with a digital review copy of the book.

A sweet tale of gratitude and love, Thank You Mama is a wonderful way to introduce more food into a child's vocabulary, and practice the habit of saying thank you. I'm no parent but I've worked with and looked after kids for a while now, and gratitude isn't a topic I've come across in picture books often. However, it's a very important trait to have in kids: for them to learn to not only parrot 'thank you' but also feel the sincerity behind it. Plus, it has vivid descriptions for the food and such an adorable art style!
I enjoyed this book and showing healthy food options for kids. My son especially loved this book as he goes by "Grey" as well. The format is really messed up and hard to read in Kindle, but once we figured it out and had a few mix ups with the sentences and pictures not lining up we just kind of winged it. I liked the book and premise to give kids their own choices and make their own decisions. I'm just hoping the formatting gets fixed before this is released.
My daughter who is six and just exploring food got a kick out of this. My husband and her read it a couple times a week and it has been helping us with different foods. I love the art and it's a fun read.
Thank you, Mama is a sweet book celebrating foods, flavors, and how food brings us together! My daughter and I loved the diverse foods included and how each food was described. The descriptions of each food and flavor were so vivid it was easy to imagine snacking on them. The bright colors, beautiful illustrations, and engaging word-art made the book even more delectable. We loved the message that food is best when it’s shared with those we love.
Thank you, Mama is definitely going to fill your heart!
I liked this book, it would be great for teaching adjectives. However, there's not much of a story to it. There's not a huge need for this at my library.
I received the book “Thank You, Mama” by Linda Meeker from the publisher as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All my opinions in this post are my own.
I really loved this book and I found it adorable!
It has beautiful illustrations that are colorful and really well-done. Younger kids would find it engaging and fun. I really appreciated that it included different foods and that it had a good message for kids to take away that included respect, saying 'thank you', and figuring things out themselves. The book boasts about showing important and good qualities for young kids, and it 100% delivers. Would definitely recommend.
❤️ Grey stole all of our hearts on TikTok with his happiness, polite manners, and gratitude for the healthy meals his mama would make him!
🥞 This book captures our hearts just the same with teaching gratitude, manners, and the joy of sharing a meal with your family!
🥞 I adored this book so very much and I think you and your child will love it as well!

A cute story about Grey who tries to figure out what his favorite food is. He tries a lot of different things, since it is really hard to now what your favorite food is, there are just so many.
I really liked the illustrations and how the different food options where written in color.
Recommending to the kids who love food.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
THIS BOOK IS SO CUTE! Def the book I needed to get me our of my burnout from reading new adult books and remind me why I love reading. So colorful and authentic in Vietnamese foods. it's so great to see our culture represented in a book in such an enjoyable way. RECOMMENDED FOR KIDS WHO LOVE FOOD and want to learn some cute manners! Cam on!!
This book is SO cute. I absolutely love the story, but the illustrations are top notch. I think this would be so cute for my young niece (or for a classroom!)
Really cute illustrations and makes an amazing children's book. Although the file for the kindle came out a little weird, but other than that I enjoyed it.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this picture book, but I was pleasantly surprised. This book features so many foods that a child may not regularly be exposed to. There are also adjectives describing the food that may be new to children. Overall, this is a fun story that will introduce children to new things.
I loved the wonderful descriptions of foods and the little insight into Vietnamese language. There were a few moments where it read a little strangley. But overall, enjoyable!
Thank you to the author, Thomas Nelson and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This beautifully illustrated story about healthy eating and exploring food preferences is a fun read for pre-schoolers, and is a good conversation starter about trying new things. There isn't much of a story involved, but a lively discussion ensued with the young children I read it with, about their favorite foods and how food from different cultures can become our favorite too.
A very foodie book with lots of colorful pictures. The story wasn’t very entertaining, but this would still be a fun picture book for young kids.
This was such a fun little read. Cute little childrens book writen perfectly for a child to comprehend.

What a fun read! The illustrations were beautiful and my younger sister loved it as I read it to them.
Loved the illustrations and what this book has to say about exploring a child's food preferences. I don't think this would hold every kid's interest (it felt more like just listing off good foods) but if you're a fan of the greyandmama tiktok account then you'll still enjoy this.
