While the formatting for this wasn’t great I decided to give it a try.

The premise worked for me and a few of the moments were memorable but overall I found it to be lacking. The steamy scenes were cringey for the most part (and I enjoy a steamy scene!) and the chemistry while believable had it taken a bit longer to develop, felt rushed.

I could see this book working better with another round of edits and maybe a couple more chapters because the bones are almost there!

Thank you to the publisher for a copy in exchange of an honest review!

This is a good read for a young teen wanting to get into romance. If you ever read books/ are reading books on watt pad and want to read a physical book this is the book for you. Personally I found this book a little to young and cheesy for me. In the first few chapters Gretchen meets Josh a mlb player from Toronto is moving down a league because of how he is playing. They are both in the airport leaving to Vegas where Gretchen is going for a work event. They easily connect when Gretchen brings Josh a cup of coffee, and he suddenly takes a liking to her. He likes her enough to hold her hand on the flight and get cozy with her. I struggled my way through the rest of this book even though I found it unrealistic.

Again this book was not the right fit for me but I can see young readers taking a liking to this.

Thank you so much publishers for the opportunity to review this book! Out of His League is a sports romance with a baseball player. The spice is pretty high but I wasn't completely sold on their chemistry. Their conflict that they had to work through could have been stronger but if you are looking for a pallet cleanser light book this might totally work for you!

I did not like the format that was sent to my kindle so it was a bit difficult to read. I am not a fan of instant love and the way they meet is meh. The rest of the book i just was not feeling it and was not very interested in the couple and their story.

Romance

Better than Most!

Gretchen Harper has always followed baseball. It was a way to connect with her dad. When she walks to her gate at the airport and sees her favorite player in what seems to be a dejected mood, she spontaneously buys him his coffee. Surprised by the sweet gesture Josh Malvern chats with Gretchen while they wait for their flight to be called. Josh enjoys her company so much that he upgrades her plane ticket and they continue their lively discussion. By the time they reach Vegas Josh and Gretchen both know that they want to spend some time together and that they seem to have chemistry in spades.

What they both think will be one night only, turns into a weekend with both of them wanting more. Unsure of how to make it work and both feeling insecure in the relationship they allow a misunderstanding to come between them. Can't have a love story without a bit of angst, right?

The sex scenes are steamy and this relationship while sparked with chemistry has Gretchen and Josh taking on some major hurdles. Was it perfect? No. I still really enjoyed this romance and look forward to more from this writer.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for my ARC of this novel.

By the cover, I thought it would be a light innocent romcom. It was very much romantic, but not at all innocent. This was a quick, & short extremely steamy read. It was an insta-love/lust between two strangers that met in an airport, + such a cute meet-cute. With that being said, I felt like the events that happened were a little rushed for my liking. When it comes to the hot & steamy scenes, I prefer a little slow burn or at least more than 24hrs after their first time meeting. I had a little hard time connecting to the characters at first, but I absolutely loved the level it’s steaminess. Just would’ve preferred a little more build up & chemistry between them. Overall I enjoyed this read & recommend if you’re a fan of instant love with sports romance.

You can expect:
* Sports Romance
* Explicit Open Door Romance
* Instant Love/ Lust
* Quick Lighthearted Read

Out Of His League, just wasn’t to book for me. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to connect with the characters and wish it wasn’t an “Insta-love.”

They say don't judge a book by its cover, and unfortunately that's just what I did when I decided to read this book. I was expecting a really fun romantic book based on the cover, but instead the romance fell flat and it had a lot more explicit sex than I would have liked. It was really hard for me to finish, which doesn't happen to me that often.

Thank you Netgalley and Wattpad for providing me with an ARC of this book.

this was fine! it was not my favorite heterosexual romance but I liked the somewhat unique professions of both the main characters, especially as a big baseball fan and someone who knows nothing about wine. I probably won't think about it ever again but a fine way to spend a couple hours.

(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley, publisher, and author, for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review)

Synopsis: Gretchen Harper, a sommelier found Joshua Malvern, her favourite professional baseball player on the airport, not having the greatest day. So she buy him a coffee and the chemistry started.
Joshua was sent to the minor league but another worry is that he’s got an injury that won’t heal. His entire career and future are on the line. When a beautiful woman offers him coffee, that simple kindness is exactly what he needs to lift him out of his funk. He asks her to join him in first class, not expecting to end up joining her in bed. What starts as a one night stand ends up holding the promise for so much more. And while stepping out of her comfort zone has never been Gretchen’s style, for a chance at true love she’ll have to decide whether she’ll swing for the fences, even if it means striking out.

This book caught my eye because of the cover and the synopsis. I wanted to enjoy a romance with a character that plays baseball, so I was invested in this book. However, it wasn't what I expected: the insta-love, character personalities... I don't know; the story doesn't keep me wanting to read and understand what will happen next, you know? I wasn't even interested in the smut, their relationship... So, what's left?

Gretchen Harper is heading to a sommelier convention in Vegas when she spots her favorite baseball player, Joshua Malvern, on her flight. This chance encounter rapidly progresses and over the course of one hot and steamy weekend, Gretchen and Joshua fall head over heels for each other. But will living in two different countries, leading completely incompatible lives, and chasing opposing ambitions relegate their tryst to simply a weekend affair? Or will Gretchen and Joshua find a way to make this homerun relationship last?

I truthfully had pretty low expectations heading into this book, thinking it would be just another sweet and spicy romance. But this book took off sprinting out of the gate and dove headfirst into the insta-love trope – Gretchen and Josh had their hands all over each other within the first ten pages! Once their love ignited, there was no looking back, which was a bit unfortunate as I would’ve loved to focus just a little less on their chemistry and more on getting to know them.

That being said, I really loved the characters (except for best friend Sharla) and though their relationship was entirely unrealistic, I found myself rooting for JoGretch throughout the entire book. It followed the predictable trajectory of rise, climax, conflict, resolution, which made it feel like a spicy Hallmark movie, but I was captivated by their story and found it hard to put this one down. I am a sucker for an insta-love, but I still found this a little too fast-paced and wished the narrative was just a tad slower.

this book was a stereotypically adult rom com, with common tropes and lines. I think if I would’ve read this during my watt pad days I would of loved it, but I’ve read my fair share of romances and this one was very noteworthy. I did enjoy the baseball talk and that Gretchen was a wine sommelier. I think that if you love common tropes, and a insta-love romance then you would enjoy this book. It just wasn’t for me.

I knew, going in, that “Out of His League” by Caroline Richardson was, based upon the reviews, going to be a light fluffy quick read. It was. It also made me both laugh at situations and cringe at some dialogue.

The Good:
- Great meet cute idea.
- Great one line everyone reading this book will remember. Once you know it, you know it.
- Baseball inclusion. And this covered minor league baseball - bonus!
- Adorable cartoon cover. Suckered me in, I’ll admit.

The So-So:
- Neptune. Good character, though I found the incident tossed in to have tension (where there really wasn’t any). Though how, at the age of 20, after attending some community college, he was in, most likely, AAA level baseball I found a bit unlikely.
- The Neons Front Office couple. I’m a sucker for a coach that’s seen it all, heard it all, and nothing surprises … but toss in a just as sage partner and that’s great. I wish they had been used more in this book, though I’m not sure how.
- Ric. Fine, big mouth and all, the guy cared … and I’m sure his daughter is adorable.
- Kevin. I liked him. Yes, he’s a minor character, but his scenes were enjoyable.

The Bad:
- If one is going to write a book about baseball, get your facts correct. The home team bats second. Players are not allowed in the stands right before a game. A player cannot be traded for a higher draft pick in baseball. MLB players do not wear any part of their uniform or anything labeled with the team logo when traveling.
- The author knew enough about baseball to know about the Mendoza Line, but Josh said that a .210 batting average was acceptable. No, that’s an awful BA, unless you’re a pitcher.
- The instalove. It was all feelings and electricity and sex drive. I’ve no idea what these two will talk about 20 years down the line …
- Dialogue. It wasn’t all bad, but it wasn’t all good.
- The “conflict” parts. Both felt off - Neptune’s part a lot more (that scene was not an arraignment!).

All in all, the “meet cute” was a great idea, but I wish it had been developed into something more of a compelling story, opposed to just a meet cute.

This is a lighthearted comedy with some real steamy scenes that is not for the faint hearted! I enjoyed Gretchen and Josh’s lust/love at first sight which leads to some real development of emotions on both sides. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down and finished it in one setting. I was hungry for more.

Thank you to the publisher and author for granting me this EARC.

If you are looking for a summer read that is quick and breezy, this is the book for you!

This cover is so so cute, and the premise sounded cute, I wanted to love this so much! I’m just not a fan of insta-love, which is exactly what this was. Or, Insta-lust I guess? I didn’t like how soon the characters got together or how soon they seemed head over heels crazy for each other. I had to fight to get through it and yeah, it wasn’t for me!

I am very picky when it comes to romance novels, and sometimes things just don't work for me. I personally do not enjoy the miscommunication trope, and have a hard time finding the relationship to be relatable or believable when this trope takes over the storyline. I thought there were so many promising ways to take this relationship, but it fell short for me.

The premise of the book seemed incredibly exciting and I was hoping to really enjoy it. I didn't think the characters even liked each other all that much!!! However, it was a cute novel, and something short and sweet. I probable would not list this as a favorite, but I can't say I didn't enjoy it a little.

Thank you @NetGalley and Wattpad books for the ARC of Out of His League.

This book came at the perfect time for my reading mood. I absolutely loved it! If you don't like spice in books, skip this book. It was definitely insta-love, but it worked. I loved all the coffee lines in the book. The scenario that split the couple was a little weak, BUT I loved that the roles were flipped in which the ladies were the ones with a "bucket list" of men to be with and the male MC was not about said list. I also really enjoyed the different friendships and family avenues this book gave. Oh, have I mentioned...GREAT spice!?!

A book about wine and baseball, sign me up. The early story pulled me in as a curiosity to where things are headed. The book is a cute easy read with some heat and low angst, a little too insta-love for this reader.

I would have loved some more character development and story. However, this book is a debut effort and has promise. The author’s knowledge of baseball is excellent and part of what kept me reading.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

This book is a short a faced paced book following Joshua Malvern a famous baseball player and Gretchen Harper. When I first requested this book I didn’t realise it was a wattpad pulblished book, and boy did it read wattpad. This books wasn’t really for me, I’m not personally a fan of the Insta love that’s involved in the book, I also wasn’t a fan on the formatting, it made it hard to read. I’m not going to lie I didn’t end up finishing this book but if you’re into wattpad books and Insta love this books for you! The cover was absolutely stunning and that’s exactly what drew me in.

I enjoyed the premise of this book. Sports romance is a romance sub genre I really enjoy. A quick meeting, one night stand turned more. Love it. I just didn’t feel the long term chemistry. And they really didn’t spend much time together before trying to make it series toward the end. The steam was fun and good, but outside of those parts just not for me. I felt he got mad way too quickly at dinner with her friend for someone who couldn’t stop thinking about her even after that. Just felt a little jumbled, but the overall idea was great.
