I was so intrigued by the description of this book, but it fell short. This book needs a good editor and less focus on smut. Smut can be great in a story but it requires a balance of well written, likeable characters and a fast paced, well written plot. These characters were fairly one dimensional, they fell into instalove and the main plot device is miscommunication. We're living in 2021. There's not reason for miscommunications when we have so many ways to communicate. Just not the book for me.

This is a cute light read. I loved their immediate connection and there were some really cute moments, but I was never exactly "hooked". Nice if it's what you're in the mood for and the sports element was fun.

In some ways, this is what I expected: a sports romance. I liked the main characters, mostly. Character development was minimal, which I am not a fan of - how else do they make the changes to get to HEA? There were some continuity errors that were frustrating for me - forgetting that the FMC knew info about the MMC, unless it was meant to be a lie which changes the whole tone of the interaction. So, overall ok?

A pretty straightforward and fast paced romance. But, lacked some essential element. Was a bit too love at first sight for me with no real relationship development.

I’m never one to turn down a good romance, but unfortunately this one fell flat for me. It was very cliché and not terribly engaging. The plot is fast paced so it’s an easy read. If you like the love at first sight trope or just hella steamy books, this may be a good read for you.

Not my favorite — not a whole lot of plot, and a lot of the conflict was either out of place or unexciting. Would likely have DNF’d if not for the review.

This book is a re-release of a Wattpad book with a beautiful new cover.
I didnt read this book when it was originally on Wattpad but it was a cute story. The story is about Gretchen and Joshua who meet and an airport and have insta-lust. Joshua is not having the best day and Gretchen is excited to see her favorite baseball player. Cue the adorable romance. I also love a good baseball romance.
There overall this was a cute, sweet, and sexy romance it does feel like a Watpadd book so if that's your vibe you will love it.
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy

This has got to be one my favorite first scenes in a book I’ve ever read. The fact that the cover of this book is exactly what I pictured during that scene was even better. I felt all the tension awkwardness and newness of meeting someone new (and good looking!).
I am not a fan on Insta love and this quickly went into that. And once that happened, it was miscommunication that drove the plot for the .2 seconds it took to get resolved.
I feel like this could’ve been a novella. Take away all the detailed sex scenes, random subplots on side characters no one really cares about, and the repetitive internal monologue, not much happened.
Overall this had a hallmark, everything is cheesy dramatic but perfect feel to it. If you’re into that, I still recommend this.
That first scene did give me all the feels!
Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad for my ARC !

Thank you Netgalley and Wattpad books for the arc!! This book was really cute! I just didn't LOVE it as much as I wanted to. I'm not a huge fan of insta-love, so that's probably why, but I would definitely recommend it to people who are!!

As meet-cutes go, Gretchen Harper wins the prize while waiting for her flight to a professional conference. Offering her baseball crush a cup of coffee leads to opportunity and opportunity leads to love in this sweet romantic story. Out of His League by Caroline Richardson is an excellent quick read and worth the time.

I was intrigued by the Title and the Cover and really wanted to enjoy this story but it just wasn’t for me. It has potential for a very entertaining romance but yeah.

This was a good book. I especially loved the cover art! The marketing on this book was done well. I would recommend to a friend

A light, quick read about a chance encounter at the airport between a major league baseball player sent to the minors and a sommelier on her way to a wine convention. The banter between the two main characters was fun and entertaining. Some parts felt a bit rushed which makes sense with the shorter page count. If you are looking for a romance book that you can read in an afternoon by the pool, this is a perfect one for you!

out of his league was exactly as described: a sweet but steamy romance after a chance meeting. gretchen never thought of herself to be bold, but when she sees her favorite baseball player at her gate looking disheveled, she jumps into action. what started as a simple cup of coffee turned into an instant attraction between her and josh. i really liked the banter between the two characters, but i struggled with how quickly everything moved. it felt a bit rushed for me, but the ending was sweet and it was an easy read!

I want to start by thanking Netgalley for this ARC because I likely wouldn’t have been exposed to this work otherwise and it definitely helped me refine my tastes. It was very much wattpad insta-lust. The overall plot and language of the book was juvenile at best. There was so little substance to this one and honestly got pretty cringe. If you want to read something purely for abundance of hetero sex scenes this might be for you.

This is a fun light read. Imagine a baseball player actually giving you the time of day and legitimately falling in love with you. A dream came true. Joshua is going through a hard time with( his career. Henson his way down to the minor league. When a sexy women buys him coffee. Why joy won't her company as she's easy to talk with. Both Gretchen and Joshua didn't expect things ton escalate to real feelings.
This is a good light read a little unrealistic but fun. These scene were hot enough to make it even more worthwhile

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for the ARC.
2 stars.
This book had a lot of potential, and the cover is really cute but I felt that it was definitely lackluster in many areas.
Out of His League is a one-night stand turned lovers sports romance. It is very much an insta-love story, which I normally don't mind too much but there wasn't much to Gretchen and Josh's relationship outside of their physical attraction. Within the first few chapters, they are already "in love" which was extremely unrealistic and only hurt the story moving forward. I was emotionally detached from the story and it felt like there was no plot and no point to the story. I don't mind smut in books but I went into this book expecting more of a rom-com with some smut but instead read a book too much smut for its little to no plot.
The characters were very flat and the pacing of the book also threw me off as I would have to reread certain parts because I couldn't process what was happening.
Upon further research, I learned that the baseball facts/ aspects in the story weren't accurate at all which is very disappointing. I think that proper research should always be done before writing a book, especially one that is going to be published.
Overall, this book fell flat for me and wasn't memorable at all. If the characters were developed more, there was an actual plot I perhaps would have liked this book a little more. I wouldn't recommend but if you are looking for something with no plot as just smut, this might be the book for you.

What happens when you fall in love with the baseball player who’s out-of-your league?
I loved the baseball references, the fact that she’s a wine connoisseur, and I loved their meet-cute! However, it just fell flat in a lot of places and needed some more “umph” to it. The spicy scenes were fun at times but could’ve been steamier and a little less boring. I wanted more chemistry between the two main characters. I am also not a big fan of InstaLove in general, but if you love a good “love at first sight” book, this is for you

ARC review: 3 stars
Sommelier Gretchen meets her favorite baseball player in the airport when he’s being demoted to a different team. She buys him a coffee and they have a whirlwind weekend, but struggle to make anything else work.
So, the meetcute was GREAT. The insta-lust/insta-love was a bit over the top, but fine. I enjoyed this through their first date and night together. Then it got really tedious, dragged out with random side stories and lots of back and forth and moping, and WAY too much description of the characters thought processes. Gretchen was also weirdly immature in her emotions, and I strongly disliked her friend Sharla (brash, overbearing; just badly written).

This book missed the mark by a long shot. The pace was SO fast that there wasn’t adequate time for any sort of proper lead up into the storyline. The author really just jumped right in with both feet. We were given zero background on Josh and Gretchen and suddenly BAM they are making moves. They meet in an airport, have a one night stand, catch feelings and are basically in love in two days. Um…what?!? Im missing much needed details here!!
With that being said, there was not enough lead up to find their chemistry believable and natural. Honestly, there was barely any dialogue between them, and what there was, wasn’t substantial. How do you base a relationship off of lack of communication? I guess their “mind blowing sex” was enough?
And can we just talk about the sex scenes for a second. I think this book was trying to be open door, but it was just SO bland. Josh and Gretchen had A LOT of sex, but as a reader, I found it super boring, not steamy.
My feelings on this book…I’m glad it’s over.
