Alex Harvey is running the ranch taking of his three daughters and his wheelchair bound father. He has not thought about love or dating since his wife passed. Now Christmas and one of his daughters has written a letter to Santa wishing for him to find love. Not wanting to let down his children he decides to reacquaint an old flame with Juniper. Turns out that there is still something still there. This was a good story maybe a little quick at times but still good.

Rangers family Christmas by Leslie North.
Christmas at the Harvey Ranch Book 1.

3.5 / 5 stars, rounded up to 4.

Rancher’s Family Christmas is the first book in a series that focuses on a set of brothers that live in a small town. They grew up on the ranch, but their mother’s since passed and their father is wheelchair-bound. The first book focuses on the eldest of the three brothers, Alex. In addition to taking over the family ranch and primary care for their father, Alex suffered the loss of his wife and is raising three girls as a single father. When he runs into his younger brother’s friend Juniper, she decides to lend a helping hand to give the family the Christmas they deserve.

Character-wise, I enjoyed the cast of characters. Alex’s family, particularly his daughters, were great to watch, and I loved the dynamic between the Juniper and the rest of the family, since she has a history of spending time with the family as Alex’s brother’s best friend. As the rest of the family arrives home for Christmas, Alex’s brothers add another layer to her relationships with the family.

The writing style for this book is the major reason this isn’t a higher rating for me. There were times when I felt the dialogue was awkward, and that could also be said for the prose at times in the book. The writing style pulled me out of the story and distracted me sometimes, particularly with some of the dialogue in the romantic scenes.

All in all though, it was an easy read that was enjoyable.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the digital copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Alex and Juniper. They have known each other all their lives. They lived next door. Alex is a rancher and widower with three daughters. Juniper runs a craft store. They have a mutual attraction. They each have their issues but together they work them out. They realize they love one another.

I also enjoy reading books by Leslie North. This book did not disappoint. Alex is a widower raising 3 young daughters, running a ranch and taking a care of his grumpy wheel chair bound dad who he never seems to please. Juniper lost her parents at a young age and was sent to live with her aunt and uncle but was never shown much love and affection. She has had a school girl crush on Alex since she was young. His brother Will is her best friend. Alex's middle daughter writes a letter asking Santa for a real family Christmas. Alex contacts both his brothers asking them to come home for Christmas. He takes his daughters to an ornament decorating class at Juniper's craft shop and runs into Juniper. He hires her to help decorate for the holidays. I loved their story. His daughters were adorable and you could feel the struggle for the family to try to let go of the past in order to make a wonderful Christmas for the girls. Highly recommend.

Leslie North is a new-to-me author and I think I may be hooked. Rancher's Family Christmas is a nice, quick holiday story about Alex (the rancher) and Juniper (neighbor). They both have issues to overcome as they find their way into each other's hearts. This is a story about healing, family, love, and Christmas. I definitely would recommend this book to snuggle up with next to your Christmas tree on a cold winter night. I would like to read the other 2 books in this holiday series that detail Alex' brothers' stories in the future.

Sweet Christmas time read! Love the single dad romance trope. Loved the friends to lovers element as well. Can't wait to see what the brothers get up to.

Definitely one of the best Leslie North books I've read recently. The relationship between Juniper and Alex is well developed and you can see why they would be attracted to one another (beyond just both being good looking). I with there had been a little more of Juniper bonding with the girls - the scenes that are included are so sweet and would have further demonstrated how important a part of their lives Juniper had become. I completely understood by Alex panicked over moving to the next level with Juniper and pulled the "better break things off than risk future hurt", but I still wanted to smack him upside the head. I also really liked that there wasn't a big romantic gesture required in order for them to get back together because both of them were going to make that move.

This could have been a 5 star for me. I love the premise. Alex is a single dad , who needs help with his 3 girls and the family ranch. Who better to help them but Juniper. She's a long time family friend, who always had a crush him.
The author does a good job blending the tension between them.
My biggest issue was they main characters. Alex I thought he was looking for constantly played with Juniper emotions. Showing and telling Juniper that he loves her then backing away and being rude. That being said Juniper was no better. She was a push over and I was hoping she could get a backbone.

This was a short, easy, comfort read. I enjoyed Alex and Juniper getting to know each other as adults. I usually don't like children in books but they were realistic and not annoying. Kudos to the author.

What a great book. Although fairly predictable it had a lovely feel to it and covered emotions and romance and family. Alex lost his wife and is bring up his 3 girls whilst trying to run the family ranch and Juniper, who has known the family for years, runs a craft shop in town. They come together, make a connection but then struggle with taking things further. A real feel good story.

I am a massive fan of Leslie North and always enjoy her books because they’re light and enjoyable romances. I loved this one too especially since its set around Christmas time there was a sad tone to the book that tugs on your heartstrings. Fantastic read

Found this story so very sad even though it ends on a high note. A widower with three young girls, Alex runs into an old friend Junioer. She reconnects with him and connects with his daughters. At the time, he doesn’t realize what part Juniper will take in opening his heart and mending the girls’ pain of losing their mom. Christmas is coming soon so Alex will do anything to bring joy to his girls. The loneliness they all experience dissipates as more and more each one realizes what they need to make them whole.

A very cute second chance romance set around the Christmas season. I really liked the dual perspective of Alex, a widower raising 3 girls and Juniper, a craft store owner with a connection to Alex's family. The romance was a little on the slow burn side and the details aren't too steamy, but it was cute to see this couple come to terms with their feelings. I am interested in reading about Alex's brothers in future installments of this series.

Santa does actually grant Christmas wishes. Instead of asking for toys, this little girl asks for what's more important in her life.

Alex is a widow, left to care for his three daughters after losing his wife. He is also responsible for the daily running of his ranch after his father's accident.

Juniper runs a craft shop. She lost her parents and has never felt that she belonged to her aunt's and uncle's household. The only family that she knows is Alex's.

After so many years, she reconnects with Alex, although they weren't the best of friends. The thing is that she has always carried a torch for him. When they meet again, Alex is drawn to her. She doesn't expect much, but life has a way making dreams come true. She helps Alex and her daughters and one thing leads to another and soon the whole family is what she always wanted. Is Alex prepared to put his heart on the line again?

This is an emotional story. The characters are great. It brings all the Christmas cheers and it shows that anything is possible.
