🛠️ MAGGIE MOVES ON by Lucy Score 🛠️

★★★★☆

🍹 Drink Pairing: The perfect pairing for this book was a mango passionfruit margarita, reminiscent of Maggie’s Margarita Girl’s Nights! An amazing Summer read warrants an equally amazing Summer drink.

🥭 Recipe: In a blender, add 1 c. frozen mango chunks and 1 c. passionfruit puree and 1/2 c. water. Blend!
Then in a cocktail shaker with ice, add 1/2 c. mango passionfruit juice, 1.5 oz tequila, 0.5 oz. Cointreau, fresh squeezed juice of 1 lime, agave to taste - and shake!! Strain over a glass with ice and garnish with a lime wheel

🌟 Review: As an HGTV binge watcher, and as someone who’s mom is a home designer/real estate agent - I was SO excited for this book. Renovating an old Victorian mansion in a small town? Sign me up!

I have been wanting to read Lucy Score’s books for so long and I was so excited to get her latest book on NetGalley! This book was so cute, and I LOVED the reverse grumpy-sunshine. Every last character was amazing, and I could envision the entire house transformation as I read. Plus - I loved the little historical mystery element to the story!

I don’t want to give away anything but if you love small-town romances, dreamy landscapers, adorable pitbulls, and quirky townsfolk - then pick up this story asap!

This book was so charming and a fun read! The chemistry between Maggie and Silas was amazing and I loved how he fell first and fell fast and hard. This was a great summer read and was very entertaining.

'Maggie Moves On' is a really fun read. If you love HGTV, rom-coms, and treasure- hunting mysteries this is your book. Overall, it's a book you'll want to share with your girlfriends (but might blush to hand to your mom). The cast of characters are all endearing. On the whole, this read did feel a little longish. It might be because if all the characters and their subplots but at least you like them enough to hang in there.

Now let's talk romance & steam. They are a great couple in a very healthy relationship. I appreciate that there are no games, playing hard to get, or fake obstacles. Just two people who use the power of communication to figure out their relationship. The sexy scenes range from frequent lusty thoughts and references to detailed scenes. If you blush while reading - you may not want to read this one in public!

❤️ ROMANCE RATING: ❤️

❤️❤️❤️ | I love them together, they clearly love each other and are meant to be.

🔥 STEAM RATING: 🔥

🔥🔥🔥🔥 | Very sexy, don't leave the book laying around. Likely, stays in most normative bounds but might have a few kinks thrown in. Definitely for adult readers. Be prepared to have your favorite bed buddy nearby.

Thank you @Netgalley and @grandcentralpub for early access to this ARC in return for an unbiased and voluntary review.

Another fantastic book by this author. I have always loved all of her books and this one is no exception. You get a house flipper and landscaper, with lots of great side characters in a small town. There is flirty banter, sizzling chemistry, steam, and lots of laughs. This is a great easy read for the summer and anytime when you just want something fun. I highly recommend.

YouTube famous house flipper Maggie Nichols is always eager to move on to her next project. This one, in the tiny town of Kinship, Idaho, is her biggest yet, a neglected Victorian mansion that she hopes to rehab in no more than four months. She has everything she needs to get it done and that means she has no spare time for insanely attractive, happy go lucky landscaper Silas Wright.

He’s an outrageous flirt and it doesn’t help that he’s frequently on the job site in various states of undress thanks to the antics of his therapy-school dropout dog. But Maggie’s fans are there to see her travel around flipping houses across the country and she’s not someone who puts down roots. Though, she may be willing to pencil a fling into her schedule.

With his thoughtfulness and irresistible charm, Silas begins to wear down Maggie’s walls, which makes her fearful as he threatens all of her careful planning. The project will be over soon, and Maggie is beginning to rethink everything she thought she wanted, leaving her with a huge decision to make about staying or moving on yet again.

I’ve never read this author before so I had no idea what to expect of this story, but I can now say it definitely won’t be my last time reading her work. This book had a cutesy, small-town vibe but also dealt with some pretty heavily emotional themes at times, but not so heavy as to make it depressing, and it also brought the steam and dirty talk in the best way. Silas is one of my new favorite heroes. I just really enjoyed how wholesome and cheerful he was. He was like a modern-day alpha, allowing Maggie her independence but stepping in to make her relax and take care of herself when that was needed. Maggie’s need to do everything herself definitely got annoying, but once we got her backstory, it made sense that she was the way she was. However, since this backstory wasn’t revealed till later, I spent quite a bit of the book being irritated by her neuroses and cheering on Silas for not taking it. This book was great fun, but Maggie’s behavior did give me some anxiety there for a wall that had me not necessarily looking forward to my next chance to listen. I’m definitely glad I had the audiobook because I think the narrator did a great job of imbuing the dialogue with emotion and that kept me invested in the story. Maggie just frustrated me with her insistence on no one making decisions for her, which is totally fair to want, but I wanted her to at least consider other peoples’ feelings and how she could affect them. Thankfully, she did realize this eventually and when she set about putting down roots, she did it right. There were also plenty of lovely side characters to keep me occupied during the times when she was just a bit too much and I think they definitely helped the story as well. Silas was a heartbreakingly romantic hero, and I loved that he took the time to realize and notice what Maggie needed and how she communicates and she also wound-up meeting him in the middle with a lovely romantic gesture. Silas may have been the one who realized they belonged together at first, but I loved that instantaneous connection between them and his refusal to let it slip away. This one also had a super cute epilogue and I adored how everything wrapped up in the end, both with Silas and Maggie and with their delightful cast of supporting characters.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and its audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this book!!!

The pace of the story, the characters (I mean…who doesn’t love an incredibly strong heroine with an amazing job!?!?), the setting (running to look up homes for sale in Kinship, Idaho…does that place even exist IRL?), Silas (the hunky, hot, landscaper hero) the hilarious storyline and situations, the perfect side characters….I just have nothing but great opinions on Maggie Moves On! I highly recommend reading this one for good feels, a great laugh, and a romantic heart!

Author Lucy Score is amazing! She keeps the reader engaged with her beautiful words, and those moments that catch you off guard and not wanting to put the book down!

5 nail pounding stars!

If you have read Lucy’s other books, then you know how spicy they are. Maggie Moves On is I think on the 3/5 spice level from her other books. It’s perfect for those who cringe at smutty romance books, but still love a cute romcom.

This book also incorporated a little mystery to it, which had me turning the pages to find out. There are quite a few side characters in the book, and confused me at times trying to remember who was who. There were some family plot twists as well, which you will try to guess as you read.

This was a definite cute read. Defiantly different from what i usually read but i love how each of the characters have their own dynamics even when dealing with day to day life and especially Maggie with her reality show. Both Maggie and Slias had the meet cute/insta love vibe going on which is something that i read from time to time. If you’re into the home renovations love story, then this book will be up your alley.

This was perfect outside of Silas being a little too much - in a workplace that would have been just too much for me but that's a hard no for me.(might be a positive for most people) Outside of that I want to move- and to Idaho (maybe move it some miles over to the west) but I just loved this found family and his family and her family.
I mean we have Kevin the dog and kitten for entertainment along with all the jokes- laughs and the mystery they need to figure out. Loved Silas figure out tech with everyone- loved Cody- okay I just loved this book. We also get some good steamy goodness with this one! and a typical score where you are laughing and crying!

Maggie is a famous YouTube house flipper and Silas is a small town hot landscaper. Silas falls for Maggie almost instantly, but Maggie holds out for ages because she has childhood issue and doesn’t want to let anyone else control her life and decisions. Once she lets him into her world, the main function of their relationship is sex. Silas seems like a puppy dog following her around and there’s so many sub-plots that I started to skim a little in the middle because it was weighing down the story.
This was fluffy and predictable and it makes for a good beach read.

Score is a successful author of rom-coms and contemporary romance. Her previous books include "Things We Never Got Over" and "By a Thread". This new one is a delightful rom-com that features a successful YouTube house flipper (Maggie) and a very flirtatious landscaper (Silas). The banter is wonderful and the story includes a bit of a mystery, lots of home renovation bits for all the HGTV fans, family dynamics and of course some spice. I really enjoyed it.

I'm still fairly new to Lucy's books (her Riley Thorn series is hilarious!) but Maggie Moves On was definitely a hit for me. If you've never read her books before, I think this is a great standalone to check out & I can't wait to check out more of her work :)

House flipping phenom Maggie is working on her biggest project yet when local hottie landscaper Silas enters her life, insisting he's the man for the job & the man meant to be with her. Despite Maggie's hesitation, the two kick off a steamy summer fling filled with surprise dates squeezed around interviews and deadlines.

This was such a fun summer read packed with so much humor and heart! The chemistry between these two is on FIRE. No worries here about a lack of steam and spice with the cute cover - Lucy totally delivers on that front but nothing is overdone/excessive. A great balance between the physical connection and the emotional connection. I also really loved the found family inclusion here. You have Maggie & Dean who are friends/exes/coworkers as well as Maggie (and the whole crew really) taking in Cody as their own in order to help him stay out of trouble in their small town. Plus Silas falls first and he falls SO hard for his girl, which is one of my favorite things to see in a romance novel!

This one is perfect Summer Read and I had a smile on my face the whole time. I'm a sucker for a small town romance and this one just hit the spot. I really liked that it was instalove from Silas and he didn't give up when Maggie showed no interest in staying. I also liked the bit of mystery solving with the gold bit. I would totally read this one again. Also I want to look into more of Lucy Score books.

Maggie Nichols is a famous YouTuber who flips houses. 🔨 She’s always looking ahead at the next flip, the next town, the next episode. Focusing on what’s next helps her forget her past and never get too comfortable with any place, or anyone, in the present. What’s the point in starting a relationship when she always moves on? 🚗 Now she’s about to tackle her biggest project yet: The Old Campbell Place in Kinship, Idaho. She’ll flip the mansion, turn a big profit, and the move on, like she always does…

Silas Wright’s roots run deep in Kinship. 🌱 His landscaping business is thriving and his big, boisterous family keeps him busy. But as soon as he sets eyes on Maggie he knows exactly what his life has been missing. ❤️ He decides to make it his mission to get Maggie to stick around this time, and finally plant some roots of her own.

It’s official. Lucy Score is an auto-read for me! 💯 I loved Maggie and Silas’ story. The renovation storyline was fun to read about, and Silas’ flirty personality was adorable. Score always makes me laugh out loud, but this time she made me teary eyed too. The graduation chapters and the photo.. 😭 IYKYK. Another thing I love about Score’s writing is she always gets me invested in the supporting characters. I’ve read other books recently where it felt like the author was forcing the supporting characters on me and I didn’t care about them at all. But Score’s characters? 😍 I loved grumpy Wallace and cat sitter Kevin. Cody pulled at my heartstrings, and Dean was hilarious. This one is so good!

The plot follows a mostly predictable romcom arc, but there were still a few small surprises along the way. Score does a fantastic job transitioning the characters back and forth from witty banter to steamy situations and back again.

I loved the HGTV-style setup and the dog was the best.

This is a great pool/beach/summer read, and I’m excited to read Score’s backlist and whatever she writes next!

I am quickly on a mission to read as many Lucy Score books as possible. This is my third by her and while I liked the other two better, I enjoyed this a lot.

I absolutely love grumpy girl and sunshine boy and the boy falls first trope. Some of Silas's flirting annoyed me but overall I loved him and his relationship with Maggie. It's just that I wanted to know he actually liked her and it wasn't just lust at first sight and I was able to see that better later in the book.

This book is filled with hilarious and fun side characters that added a great tone to this book. I loved this small town and learning about its residents.

This book was only a tad too long but overall it was a fun read!

Book Review:
Let’s talk about bold declare your feeling when meeting someone for the first time insta love… does anyone like this? Is it real? To me I just had such a hard time with that plot in this one.

I also had trouble with the attempts at Idaho jargon and descriptions. I have lived in Idaho my entire life and honestly, it was just really hard and frankly annoying reading made up jargon that Idahoans do not use that the author tried to pass off as Idahoan vernacular. I just wish that if authors are going to try to write about an area or state that they would learn more about it before trying to incorporate aspects that just don’t make sense for a person from the area reading the story (never have had finger steaks in my life, but fry sauce is amazing…).

Those two things just grated my nerves and made this one hard for me to read, for people that like insta love and small town romances but aren’t from Idaho they will probably love this one though.

OH EM GEE!!!!! This book was PERFECTION!!! Idk if it was the timing of when I read this or what but I found this book to have everything I love!! There was romance, found family, great friendships, mystery, and comedy!! And I loved it all of it!! I loved Maggie so much and really connected with her character. Maggie and Dean had the best friend relationship and they were so funny together! And SILAS!! Woowee!! I don’t think the word HOT does him justice. The bossiness with Maggie and I think it was exactly what she needed. The steam in this was very hot just like I like it. Silas’s family was such a great mashup of people and I loved how all of his parents got along. The mystery aspect that was rolled in to this was just *chef’s kiss* and then the found family was the cherry on top!! I can’t say enough good things about this one!! Definitely my favorite read for this month and a top contender for favorite of the year!! All the stars and then some!!
