Lucy Score is a bit of a conundrum for me. I have said in this space before that she OWNS me, and I stand by that. But earlier today, when I was talking about the books that I return to over and over and over again, well, there was a dearth of Lucy Score in that conversation.

I mean, sure…there are parts of Forever Never that I have practically memorized. And By A Thread also features pretty prominently in my re-reads…but for the most part, I don’t spend more lazy Saturdays than I am comfortable admitting down a Lucy Score rabbit hole of re-reads. That honor is reserved for Ella Frank. Brooke Blaine. The incomparable AM Johnson.

So. Why do I say that Lucy is my favorite? Because even though she doesn’t write those sweeping, agonizingly emotional 4- or 40-book epics, there is no one—NO ONE—who writes books that are more deliciously fun than Lucy Score.

Up until now, Lucy has been self-published through her “That’s What She Said” imprint. This is her major label debut, and I was concerned. I didn’t love the cover art, and I was very worried that being with a “real” editor would beat the charm right out of the book.

I should have known that Lucy would not let that happen.

I liked Maggie a lot. She is strong and focused, and she has spent a fair amount of time examining her life and making choices for herself. She has a strong relationship with her ex-husband, who is her producing partner, and manages to stay in touch—mostly—with a sister that she has a very complicated relationship with. Among the things that Maggie knows about herself is one single, unwavering truth. Maggie doesn’t put down roots. Anywhere. For anyone.

Enter flirty, sexy, fun Silas. Enter a house that Maggie is a little too in love with. Enter a town that Maggie visited as a child with her beloved late mother. Enter the previously-mentioned sister, who shows up looking for a real connection to the sister that she doesn’t really know. Enter a homeless teen, and a slobbering dog who never met a mud puddle he couldn’t flop into.

And suddenly, Maggie doesn’t know anything anymore.

This book is a complete blast. Silas may be my favorite of all Lucy’s male leads, and while this one doesn’t have the gravitas that TWNGO or Forever Never had, it makes up for that by being full of pure joy.

Lucy still owns me. Cannot recommend this one enough.

Maggie Moves On came to me at just the perfect moment. I won't say I was in a reading slump, but I did feel like I had a particular itch that hadn't recently been scratched. I couldn't really pinpoint what I was looking for, but I figured I would know it when I got to it. And Maggie Moves On was it. In this delightful story we meet Maggie, a house flipper with a huge YouTube following. She's taking on her latest project, an old Victorian house in a tiny town in Idaho. Her goal is the same as it always is - get in, get the renovation done, and then move on to the next project. No sticking around afterwards, and absolutely no putting down roots. But that transient lifestyle is challenged by the landscaper she hires for the reno. Silas is...well, he's just the biggest, sweetest, goofiest cinnamon roll I've ever met. He's sexy and flirty and determined right from start that Maggie is the only one for him. I'm not usually a huge fan of insta-love, but Silas was just adorable with how head-over-heels he fell. And the banter between these two characters was just hilarious! I laughed literally out loud so many times.

In addition to the excellent main characters, we have an engaging supporting cast. Dean is Maggie's ex-husband and gay best friend, and I love him and absolutely DEMAND to have his story next. Then there's Wallace, the old codger who helps solve some of the mysteries surrounding the house and its former inhabitants. Silas's moms are absolute queens and I want to be best friends with them. And then there's Kevin, the rambunctious pit bull who is always up for an adventure and creating as much havoc as possible.

This book has it all - the romance, the small-town feel, the gift of family (biological and chosen), adventure and mystery, and a tremendous amount of heart. And there's one little scene towards the end which just gave me all the feels. You'll know it when you read it. It was a beautiful moment. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

I absolutely loved this book! It’s witty, funny, and oh so charming! Maggie is a house flipper with a big following on YouTube. She and her business partner, Dean, are getting ready to start their biggest flip to date. Restoring a very neglected mansion. It’s a gorgeous estate, but also a very dilapidated property. It’s in dire need of renovation and a tremendous amount of TLC. Queue the contractors!! This is where we meet Silas. He’s a landscaper, and right from the get-go he has an instant attraction to Maggie. Maggie though, is much harder to convince.

From their first meeting we get a hilarious scene that you will want to read multiple times. This is spoiler free, but trust me you will be laughing. It’s filled with a whole cast of fabulous additional characters and a loving family that mettles. Makes for the perfect rom com. Not only is this story laugh out loud funny, but it has it’s beautifully deep and tender moments too. It’s a definite keeper and one to add to the bookshelf. Absolutely adored this book! 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There aren’t many times when a book really makes an impact, but MAGGIE MOVES ON did. It’s fantastic. Maggie Nichols films herself swapping houses. Before she knew it, she was almost to a million followers on YouTube. When she decides to tackle a dilapidated Victorian mansion in Kinship, Idaho, she gets a lot more than she bargained for.

From house mysteries, to a hot landscaping man, to a grumpy historian, add in family drama, and a kid who is just trying to graduate, Maggie may be in over her head.

This book is pure gold. You’ll laugh, cry and cheer for everyone. If you love a good HEA, pick this up. But be ready to put in the work to get there. Maggie did ❤️

I wish I could give this book more than five stars. I loved it so much. It played just like a movie in my head. The writing is excellent.

Maggie Nichols is a YouTuber who flips houses with her best friend and partner Dean. Maggie buys the Old Campbell Mansion in Kinship, Idaho. They hire local crews to help rehab the house. Silas Wright is one of the landscaping companies who bids for the contract. One look at Maggie and he's smitten and not shy about his feelings. Silas has a pitbull named Kevin and he is the star of the book. He gets into such shenanigans that it keeps you laughing. I loved the banter between Silas and Maggie. Their friendship is the best. Maggie finds a family in the crew and the town. This book is a big warm hug. I'm going to miss the characters. I can't wait to read more of the authors books. She does an incredible job.

I put off reading this book because I have read so many just ok books lately. I was kind of nervous that this could be another. When my buddy reading friend sent me excited texts in the middle of the night, I leveled up and got right into it. This super fun story of a YouTube home flipper and a "hot landscaper guy" is definitely insta lust. His drive and determination to love Maggie was just perfection. I loved how witty and smart Sy was. I loved how he learned what she needed and took care of her without her noticing. I loved Kevin.

If you loved Part of Your World, I think this might be a story for you. While totally different vibes, it's also kind of similar small town/quirky and fun feels.

I really wanted to love this book as the premise sounds absolutely adorable but I do not think that the characters were all that likable. In fact I think they were kind of toxic. I may come back to it at a later date but right now this just wasn't working for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the e-ARC of this book to read and review. Unfortunately, I didn't really like much about this one. If I hadn't intended to review it, I would have DNF a quarter of the way through, but I pushed on to halfway and then skimmed the rest. Ultimately, I do not have the time or interest to read about an annoying and controlling man who thinks he knows how to live other people's lives better than they do simply because he thinks so.

I knew I was going to hate Silas very early on: not only did he come on way too strong way too early, but there was this very intentional scene where he didn't know what "the youtube" was. Now, I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt that this was a plot point simply to show he wasn't after Maggie's celebrity status (since she's got a YouTube show with a million subscribers and quite the influence). But this gave him such a clueless energy. Luckily, this wasn't one of those times where people who think not being on social media is a substitute for an entire personality. But it did stick in the back of my mind that he would never quite *get* what Maggie was doing, (even though he's supposedly in his early-to-mid-30s and would generally understand what having a massive social media show would entail even if he wasn't personally interested.) Why she was successful, why she was an expert, and why she worked hard. He would constantly come in and say she was working too hard because her job was all-consuming, but it didn't sound like it was from a place of care. All I heard was this complete willful misunderstanding. I would genuinely LOVE it if he was concerned with showing her ways to have fun and unwind and all that, but he was just kind of deciding for her that she could just simply... *not*.

The part I loved most really was Maggie's social media world. I've read a lot of books that show how influencers can be a big deal in their online worlds and get caught up on it but are out of touch with the rest of their life, and don't make any kind of meaningful impact anywhere else. It's clear that Maggie draws people in with her YouTube home improvement show, but she lives by the same passions and principles offline too. When she meets fans, they are encountering the same version of her that she presents online, and she draws people in to her easily. It's why I wish the people she chooses to keep around would understand her successes (when she hits a million followers as a milestone, I want them to KNOW what that entails - not 'oh haha lol i don't know all that fancy stuff but cool!' - everyone understands what a TV show having a million viewers is, everyone knows what it would be like if a book had a million readers, and pretending social media is any different or lesser is not it.) It's also for these reasons that I'm totally cool with Maggie deciding she wants something different out of her life, that she's allowed to stay in one place if she wants to, or date a small town guy without feeling like she has to give up her show, etc. She draws people into her life for a reason - but I just hated that Silas thought his sheer existence was reason enough for him to overlook everything that makes her special.

Maggie Moves On is about a woman who travels around the US flipping houses with her partner, and filming it for YouTube. Her latest project is a historical mansion in a small town; the hot landscaper she hires falls for her pretty much on sight and is determined that by the time Maggie has the house fixed up and ready to sell, she’ll be so in love with the town - and him - she’ll want to stick around, even though she’s not the type to stick around.

This was my first book of Lucy Score’s and it definitely won’t be my last. It wouldn’t be an understatement to say I was obsessed with this book. I loved it so freaking much. It was hilarious and heartwarming, had a fantastic cast of characters, a swoony (and super steamy) romance, antics with crazy pets, a hint of mystery, and so many other things to love. I’m a sucker for the found family trope and it was done so well in this book; I adored Maggie, Silas, and the huge, varied cast of characters. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I took breaks to fan myself during the steamy scenes.

Maggie Moves On is a must-read for romcom lovers. It's earned a spot on my small shelf of favourite romances, and I know it’ll be a top contender among my favourite books of 2022.

One thing that I loved about this book is that it takes place in a small town in Idaho. She definitely did her research on what it’s like to live there! And even talks about fry sauce 😂

This is great for fans of:
💙 Insta-love
💙 He falls in love first
💙 A fat pit bull as a main character
💙 HGTV house flipping shows

I can see this book being a huge hit this summer! This is my first book by Lucy Score, and I’m definitely interested in her other works now. The writing style was really great! This book made me want to flip a house! Kevin was such a fun character too.

This may have not been for me, but I’m also not a fan of insta love. The relationship was pretty unbelievable. The writing was great though!

I loved this. Everything about it, I was smiling, laughing through the entire book, eager to more. Maggie is a social media influencer with her house flips, that keeps her constantly moving, never stays in one place too long. There’s flirting, there’s small town relationships, there’s insta-love feel, there’s a mini mystery, there’s so much to love. I 100% would re-read it, like soon! The spice 😚🤌🏻 amazing, Kevin is the best character in the book (but I am biased on that opinion once you read it). But also, Silas might be my new favorite book boyfriend, i need like 12 more books with him 🥺 I’m hoping there will be a sequel or becomes a series and has one as told by Dean’s POV.

Thank you @netgalley, @grandcentralpub, & @scorelucy for this eARC in exchange for an honest review of all my own thoughts and opinions.

Ooh I loved this! 😍⁣

This gets you in all the feels and makes you warm and fuzzy.⁣

Maggie is a house flipper, who buys a house, creates her vision, has a YouTube channel about it and then moves on to the next one. She’s successful, kind and brilliant, but she is rootless and only really relies on her partner Dean. ⁣

Silas is solid, stable, and so confident. He runs his own landscaping business and also makes peoples dreams come true. His roots are deep in Idaho, where he is surrounded by his big, beautifully blended family and his super adorable doggo Kevin, who likes to steal the show and the bacon. ⁣

These two couldn’t be more opposite but also the same and their puzzle pieces just match so perfectly.⁣

The growth not only of Maggie and Silas, but the side characters Cody, Dean, Michael, Wallace, Dayana and other crew members is so well done you become SO invested in all of them and want them all to have their happily ever afters.⁣

The history and story behind the house Maggie is currently renovating is such a fun mystery to find out along the way.⁣

This story was written so wonderfully it was like a movie playing out in my head and I was absorbed from the very beginning. I was invested from start to finish and loved the ride. ⁣

I ADORED MAGGIE, SILAS, DEAN, CODY, AND THE WHOLE SUPPORTING CAST, THE TOWN OF KINSHIP…

This book was everything I love about a Lucy book and still so much more, in part because it takes place in my neck of the woods, and in part because it’s a romance adventure unlike many books out there today. Lucy takes the reader on all kinds of adventures with journeys overlapping and characters growing in all different directions.

The main characters are people you root for from the very beginning. Each character goes through their own growth throughout this book, and even though each character is imperfectly beautiful from the start, I loved watching them go through some growing pains to become even more lovable by the end. There are so many layers to this book – love, romance, romantic love, family, friends, neighbors, communities, pets… it’s multifaceted, and there’s something for everyone between these pages.

One of the biggest themes of this story is family. Maggie doesn’t have a whole lot of family, except for the people she’s chosen as her own, while Silas has an overabundance of family, in a literal sense because he has two families, plus the community he was raised in. It takes Maggie stepping into this community, seeing Silas’s family, and intertwining her self-made family within the folds to see what she’s been missing by being a nomad. Her heart is still broken over the loss of her first true love, her mother, and since then, Maggie has been unwilling to choose people because she’s afraid of that pain. In a nutshell, she doesn’t let people get attached, and she doesn’t get attached, either. Enter Silas, a man who makes his living planting roots. Silas is, in all honesty, an amazing male lead. I love how progressive he is, how in tune with Maggie he is, and how he’s willing to show up and love people on their messiest and hardest days. I mean, LITERALLY THE FIRST TIME THEY MEET, Silas calls Maggie his future wife. He comes on strong, but Maggie NEEDS that kind of love to show her that taking hard steps into relationships CAN be worth the prospect of pain. It also helps that he makes her laugh AND he makes her swoon – the best combination in a man!

Now, let’s talk about the side characters: Dean, Cody, Michael, Dayana/Keaton, Wallace, Mama B and Mom, Nirina, even the Campbell’s of the Old Campbell House…

All of these people played such an important role in this story, and without them, you don’t get the wholesome love from both our main characters. Dean is the glue that’s been holding Maggie together, and Cody is the youth that inspired change in both Maggie and Dean and created a family unit, with Silas of course. Without Silas’ family – Michael, Mama B and Mom, Nirina, the dads, and even the sibling GIF group chat – Silas would be the perfect book boyfriend. Of course, his family humbles him, but it also allows us to see that Silas knows how to do what’s right because he’s stood up for and loved these people through all the things life has thrown their way. Wallace, the grump, was one of my favorite parts of the whole book. He brought in a generational understanding and a passion for how the past shapes the future, whether we are aware of it or not. His perspective was also important to the preservation efforts of restoration, and his character really made me think about how we all can leave a legacy behind – what do I want my legacy to be?

This review wouldn’t be complete without an acknowledgement of all the Lucy Easter eggs (Cat King, @CulpepperVicky, Rock Bottom, Kathryn a.k.a. Mrs. Nolan!, the shoutout to the BRAS, @PurplePeopleAvoider eating 7 tacos and margaritas, By a Thread) plus all of the really fun pop culture references (Taylor Swift, Jimmy Buffet, Christmas Vacation references, etc.).

Maggie Moves On is such a fun read. I also got advanced access to the audiobook for this book, and it was AMAZING. I will be buying it to add to my collection for sure. Hearing the characters come to life, the banter from Silas and Maggie, the fun had on the jobsite, it all equates to a really fun listen! I love when a quality story turns into a quality audiobook, and this one did not disappoint.

This book gets a big fat 5 stars from me. I wish I could give it 6, or 11 stars. It dethroned my previous Lucy favorite (it was only a matter of time), but I never thought I’d see the day. Silas sealed that fate for Maggie Moves On in my heart.

Made it to 35% before I started skimming, then DNFed at 55%. Many things I didn’t like:

- a pushy, over-the-top flirty guy
- cliché dialogue
- emphasis on lust over emotional intimacy
- booooooring plot
- dogs who throw up (and characters who think that’s endearing)

Do you believe in signs? Silas does. Now Maggie does too.
This standalone is written in third person from a dual perspective and ends with a HEA. It is set in the small town of Kinship, Idaho. The town’s name ends up being a clue that this book is firmly anchored in family: born and found.
Maggie is YouTuber House Flipper and reminds me of some of the HGTV heroines I love. She travels, flips, and moves on. When she buys a dilapidated mansion in Kinship, there are personal reasons behind her decision that come to light as the book progresses. I love her work ethic and her vision for the property from the beginning. I really like that the renovation in the book has issues that must be resolved along the way. Having completed some renovations in my own life, I know there are always snags, delays, and unexpected issues that come out of nowhere. As the book unfolded, I felt like I really got to know why Maggie has lived her life the way she has to this point.
Silas falls for Maggie as soon as he sees her and spends the book caring for her, wooing her, and making her scream his name. I loved him. I really like how he understands her early on and can give her what she needs even she doesn’t realize she needs it.
Silas has a non-traditional family that is tight with each other and loving. It is a direct juxtaposition to the way Maggie has experienced family. I adore the way the secondary characters are such a big part of the story. I absolutely loved the variety of characters represented and how they love and depend on each other. Maggie’s relationship with her partner, Dean is special for several reasons. I like that it also deepens in the book as Maggie comes to terms with allowing herself to give and accept love. This book contains laughs, beautiful steamy scenes, a rambunctious dog, a couple of kittens, and a town mystery to be solved. There is real romance is the relationship between Silas and Maggie. I love a good wooing. I savored this book, and I am dying to do a reread already. Honestly, five stars seems like not enough for a book I need to see in movie form.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance e reader copy of the book.

I just need a moment to wipe this smile off my face and try and concentrate on how I’m going to try to give this justice. This was a book that I never wanted to end. **SIGH** Silas………
Ok, here goes!
Smexy and romantic and so delicious. Fun with wonderful characters, all of them. I just couldn’t get enough. And these two had so much chemistry you could feel it from across a room. Beautiful and smoldering the novel teleported me into happiness. I. Loved. Everything. About. This. Book.

Just some things I loved:
Cupcake metaphor
Charm, angst and the banter
Fairytale houses and Naps

And I just want to say Silas will forever be one of my most favorite book boyfriends. He was EVERYTHING I want when it comes to romance. If you haven’t picked your beach read yet this is it! I highly recommend reading and or listening to it. I did both. It was narrated by Emma Wilder and she was great. Perfect for the story.
Dear Lucy,
Thanks for adding Kevin, Dolly Parton and Taco to an already wonderful story. They were the cherry on top.
And I loved this❣️ “To Binge Readers Anonymous, my found family, this one’s for you.” ~Lucy Score

Read this if you like: Dual POV, opposites attract, alpha but sweet hero, steamy 🔥, small towns, Flip or Flop vibes, a cute dog

House-flipping sensation and YouTube star Maggie Nichols can’t wait to dig into her next challenge. She's arrived in the tiny town of Kinship, Idaho, with only a cot and a coffeemaker. Maggie is prepared to restore a crumbling Victorian mansion in four months or less. She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team. What she doesn’t have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright.

The man takes flirtation to a whole new level. He even does it shirtless… sometimes pants-less. He and his service school-dropout dog are impressively persistent. She travels too much for a real relationship but a fling on the other hand...

Ohhhh, Silas. He is bossy but sweet. He is so flirty and quite assertive. I love him. He falls for her quickly, which was great. I am such a fan of opposites attract. He is so laid back and she is so meticulous. What a great balance. Their banter was perfection. I laughed out loud more than once. I love the writing and how it shows the YouTube comments. I definitely recommend it! This is my first read by Lucy Score and absolutely won't be my last. Pre-order it now!

I'm a big romance reader but "Maggie Moves On" did not work for me. The leads weren't particularly likable and the male MC, Silas was toxic masculinity at its worst.

If you’ve followed me for any length of time you might know what a huge Lucy Score fan I am. She’s the queen of quirky characters and small-town steamy romances. I’ve been a member of her ARC team for years and her Blue Moon series is one of my favorites. So I was excited to read her upcoming release Maggie Moves On. It sounds like the perfect story for all of the HGTV home renovation lovers out there, including myself.

Maggie Moves On is cute, sure. It’s starts out as your typical small-town romance with some steam here and there. There’s a few fun chaaracters, but they’re nothing like the characters Lucy typically writes IMO. And it’s sloooooow. So slow. There’s just something missing in this one for me.

Here’s what I liked:
- the house renovation and the mystery surrounding the original owners
- Kevin, the dog
- Silas’s family
- Dean and Michael…the story needed more of them

So let me tell you what didn’t work for me: the romance. At. All. Silas is probably my least favorite of Lucy’s leading men. Let me explain why.
- He’s controlling, but not in an obvious way.
- He’s constantly calling her ‘darlin’ Ugh!
- I’m so over male characters who think they know what’s best for someone just because they are sleeping together. For example: if someone put me into a kayak, pushed me off into the river, and said “See ya downstream” while walking away, pissed would not describe me. Yes, Silas does that to Maggie.
- Actual quote from Maggie, “To literally drag her away from work like she couldn’t take care of herself. Like she was some poor, fragile, stupid little girl who needed her hand held.” I hear ya girl. I felt like that was how he treated her throughout the book.
- Here’s the other thing I didn’t like. The kayak fiasco was the moment that Maggie realizes she’s in love with him. What?! No.
- One more thing, I also didn’t like how the mystery surroundng the gold itself played out in the present day. Ava and Aaron Campbell, yes, but not the gold and it’s discovery. It ended up being rushed and completly unrealistic.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. Sadly, this one is not my favorite. 2 stars.

I liked Maggie Moves On a lot more than I thought I would! It was an easy and fun read for the summer and I enjoyed reading about Maggie and Silas (and his entire family). The setting of the story- a small, close-knit town in Idaho- gave it a Hallmark movie vibe to it that makes it feel warm and fuzzy.

I loved the dynamic between Maggie and Silas the entire book; sparks were pretty much flying off the page with most of their interactions and they balance each other nicely, with Silas teaching Maggie to let go and have fun and Maggie teaching him to let her be her own person in her own way while still being able to love him.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
