Maggie Moves On is the latest stand-alone book by Lucy Score. True to herself Lucy can not write a bad book. This entertaining and sweet rom-com promises some light angst; fun banter and of course a pup named Kevin that can have his own book with his personality if he wasn’t so lazy of course. Maggie Moves On introduces us to Maggie a popular YouTuber with her own renovation show that tackles her largest project to date but along with the challenges of this house flip comes along Silas. Silas gets hit hard when he sees Maggie and is instantly convinced, she is the love of his life… the only problem with that is that is not what Maggie wants. If you are looking for a fun read with a nice story and enjoyable characters, then do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Maggie Moves On and read another one of Lucy’s fantastic books.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest voluntary review.

I had so much fun reading this book. I think it would've been so much better if I had been able to read it all in one sitting, but I had to space it out over a few days because I had work. Silas was SUCH a shameless flirt, he had me blushing and giggling like a schoolgirl over the things he would say. I really loved Maggie's semi type A behavior and how it contrasted almost every other character in Kinship. And apparently I have a soft spot for old people and teenage boys now because Wallace and Cody absolutely stole the show. I adored the found family dynamic as well

Maggie Moved On has hands down been the best book I’ve read so far this year! The banter between the characters was so well done, and you really get invested in their lives and their stories. The story was very well paced and I was really never bored by what was happening at any point in time. I loved that there was a focus on the other people in Maggie and Silas’ lives because it really me get invested in the book. This was such a great mix of romance and intrigue and mystery, I really couldn’t recommend it enough!

In typical Lucy Score fashion this book has all the feels! Laid back Silas turns career driven Maggie’s life upside down. Loved how Maggie created a life and family and started putting down roots in this charming small town without realizing any of it. And then there’s Kevin, who deserves his a story all his own!

“I want you to know that I respect you. I don’t want you to doubt that after all the dirty things I’m going to do to you.”

Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score is a sexy and fun romcom with a well-deserved happy ending. It consists of flirty banter, small town shenanigans, friends to lovers, reverse grumpy-sunshine, love at first sight, and, most importantly, a cinnamon roll MMC.

I'm a major Lucy Score fan, so knowing that this didn't disappoint makes sense, especially considering it had the inclusivity and community aspects that made this a very excellent book, which I finished in one day. Overall, I had a good time reading this book and would recommend it to anyone searching for a slow-burning summer romance!

Thank you to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and to the author, Lucy Score, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review!

I found myself really struggling with this one. The leafs have no chemistry, and while Maggie is kind of interesting (her platonic friendship with her ex, Dean, is wonderful!), Silas veered way too close to toxic alpha for me…and I apparently didn’t even reach the parts where he committed his worst offenses.

Review & Notes:

Great first line that catches your attention right away!
Steam Rating: R - for the open door steamy fans!!
Notes:
I loved the chemistry between Maggie & Silas. I loved the story and the dynamics written into it.
It's a bit on the long side for a romance but it kept me engaged the whole way through, leaving me wanting to know what would happen next. It even included a few twists in the story I didn't see coming.
Topics, themes, & concepts: LQBTQ+ characters and relationships, marriage & divorce at a young age, being social online vs. in person, the desire for financial stability
Tropes: fate/timing, close proximity, co-worker romance

Recommendation: This is a must read for fans of open-door steamy romance and HGTV shows like Fixer Upper. It had a great cast of characters and interesting twists in family relationships and the history of the town.

Favorite Quotes:

At the end of the day, your quality of life is determined by the people you surround yourself with... The people who have your back. The people who celebrate your wins and mourn your losses with.

Thank you to Dana at Forever for sending the ARC of MAGGIE MOVES ON by Lucy Score, this book releases on June 21, 2022.

Maggie has a YouTube channel focused on renovating homes and then flipping them; she buys a crumbling mansion in Idaho, because it brings back happy memories of visiting this city with her mom when she was younger. She hires Silas, a landscaper, to help her restore the landscape to its former glory. Add in Dean, Maggie’s cameraman, manager, and best friend; Dean’s loving (but meddling) family; and Kevin, Dean’s service-school-dropout pitbull, and you’ve got the makings of a great story by Lucy Score.

First off, Silas falls first, really what more do I need to say? As soon as he drives up to the mansion and spots Maggie, he’s gone for her. I wouldn’t call their first meeting a meet-disaster, but it was not a meet-cute. Let’s just say that Kevin vomits somewhere. It takes him some time to get a very skittish Maggie to agree to giving him a chance, especially since she sees their time together as limited, and Silas is determined to make it everlasting.

I really enjoyed this novel, from the first meeting between the two characters; the home renovation aspect - demolition, blueprints, surprise findings; the small town that is just the right amount of nosy and helpful. This small town that helps create a feeling of found family. Willing to help each other as needed.

To recap:

- Silas falls first

- prickly (Maggie)-optimist (Silas)

- an energetic dog (cameos by a a cat or two)

- home renovation show, featuring a house with a mysterious past

For those that are worried that because there’s a dog on the cover it will be a closed door romance, will let you know there is on page sex.

You get trademark Lucy Score, a very good blend of romance, character growth, and just enough comedy. Note that as much as I laughed, the book isn’t without it’s serious parts.

Content Notes: parental death (off-page, past), divorced characters, pregnant secondary character, meddling town

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫/5

You cannot tell me that Lucy Score isn’t the best. Won’t here of it. This is a small town rom-com, love at first sight (on the Hero’s part), a cute puppo named Kevin, AND deals with fixer uppers. It’s everything I want in life!!!!!!!!

What I liked:
✨ Silas!!!! I love that he automatically fell in like with her, and just flirted like crazy with Maggie. They had a great chemistry and banter.
✨ Kevin!!!! LS, in all of the books I’ve read by her, always has such a love-able pet in her books.
✨ the steammmm 🤭
✨ LS also adds great family dynamics.

What I didn’t love:
✨ the treasure hunting… it seemed a bit rushed
✨ some of the pacing in the middle was weird—like almost dragging??? And some information was sort of dumped, and not talked about until the wrap up later.
✨ I love a good epilogue, but LS loves her small ones 🙁

Maggie Moves On is what HGTV dreams are made of.

Old house. Check.
Successful female renovator. Check.
Very handsome landscaper. Check.
Love, family, dog. Check, Check, Check.

With just the right amount of spice and fun banter, this is a fantastic summer read.

I really enjoyed this small town romance with a bit of mystery thrown in. Maggie is a strong, independent woman who loves to flip houses and then move on to the next town to start over again. Silas is the Hot Landscaper who falls in "love at first sight" and then has to convince her to stay. That alone would make for a fun beach read romance, but Lucy Score took it a step further to make it a perfect read. There's also a bit of mystery regarding a very old bank robbery, which will keep you guessing till the end. And the secondary characters... I could read a book from the perspective of just about anyone in this story, and I could definitely stand to see more of the adorable animals!

If you love to laugh and enjoy small town romance, found family, pets that feel like full on characters, and a bit of family drama, check out Maggie Moves On!

Maggie is a YouTuber that flips houses and finds a mansion in small town Idaho where she meets Silas, the hot landscaper. This was SO CUTE! I loved the small town romance meets youtuber meets big/found family. this was so heartwarming and precious.

Maggie Moves On was such a fun and heartwarming read with lots of tender romance, a treasure hunt, and a "found family" made in Kinship, Idaho. From his first appearance in the book, our male MC Silas is swoon-worthy (as "Hot Landscaper Guy") and he has the biggest goofball dog, Kevin, who just makes for the perfect sidekick. I love Silas's personality of helping everyone around him and how he helped Maggie see the bigger picture and what really matters in life. I can totally relate to Maggie as a Type A person who just wants to get everything done all the time, and also get how she needs someone like Silas to balance her out. There was some fun history in the house that Maggie was renovating, really wonderful side characters, and an ending that just perfectly tied everything together. I'm a little disappointed this is a standalone instead of a series to revisit some of my favorite characters in Kinship, but I'll definitely be checking out more Lucy Score books after loving this!

Thanks to Forever Pub for the copy of this book.

Maggie Moves On is another good-time small-town romance from one of my favorite authors. It was fun to see the relationship between Maggie, the YouTube home renovation star, and Silas the "Hot Landscaper" develop throughout the story, complete with steam, swoon-worthy, flirtatious moments, and banter.

This is a long book with tons going on, which means there's probably something in it for almost every romance reader. In addition to the workplace, instalust, get it out of our system storyline between the two main characters, there are also complicated family dynamics, some minor stories with side characters, and a bit of a mystery element. And as with most stories from this author, you will laugh a lot while experiencing all these things.

Thank you to Grand Central and Netgalley for my advanced copy.

Home renovation, treasure hunting, love, and a found family? SIGN ME UP NOW!! I have been a fan of Lucy Score for years now, so I was so excited for this ARC from NetGalley. I absolutely loved every detail and second of this book. Lucy can create characters that you cannot help but love, intrigued that keeps you turning the page, and spicy scenes that make you want to fan yourself. I always thoroughly enjoy when she weaves a little bit of mystery in with her storylines. As I was reading I was really hoping it would lead to a series, but the ending seems to tidy it up nicely. Kinship just might be a new favorite and a place I wish I could visit for myself.

Maggie has bought her next flip to complete for her Youtube show in Idaho. It is a huge house with a lot of history. She hires Silas' landscaping company to transform the outside. When Silas meets Maggie he is immediately smitten with her. He is a huge flirt with her and relentlessly pursues her. Maggie hasn't had roots for awhile or anyone to call her own. She soon finds family in this small town. The banter between these two as hilarious. Great read!

What an amazing journey!

Some books just beg to be made into a full-length movie, but this one would have to be a six-episode mini-series, at least. There's just so much going on, and not a single second of the book felt slow or drawn out.

Maggie is comfortable with her nomadic lifestyle, moving from one renovation to the next, with her best friend as her partner and nearly a million followers online. Leaving no trace keeps her from having to risk personal relationships, a plan that works until she tackles a rather personal project, the Old Campbell Place in Kinship, Idaho.

Silas is the visionary landscaper who helps bring this historical landmark back to life. Right from the start, his flirty confidence and quiet devotion to Maggie is impossible to resist. His picture-perfect family was hilariously authentic, and his patience with Maggie as she figures out what comes next was downright swoon-worthy.

Maggie's secrets are carefully teased out, one by one, until we get the full picture of why she's so guarded and careful. But by that time, it's too late for her to put the genie back in the bottle. Changes are coming, and she's got to figure out just what it is she's looking for in life.

The house itself has quite a bit of mystery surrounding it, and that, along with the town's 150-year-old treasure hunt, added quite a beautiful framework for Maggie and Silas to examine what they have together and what kind of a future they can create.

I thought at first I'd figured Dean out from the rather obvious clues, but it turns out that his story is much more than I'd originally thought. His was a brilliant character, giving just the right kind of support without becoming an impediment in any way. I was thrilled to see him get his own HEA, and even more thrilled with how that actually played out.

This is a fully immersive book, with excellent use of foreshadowing, witty, inventive wordplay, plenty of laugh out loud humor when you least expect it, and a depth of emotional insight and heartwarming honesty that is rarely seen in contemporary romances. The Kayak Therapy is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives.

The picture-perfect HEA is followed by one of the most all-encompassing, expansive epilogues ever. The author's word choices to describe the emotional process of joining two lives into one were simply exquisite, and will make a true romantic out of even the most cynical heart.

This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. I have a new top ten author added to my list and I honestly can't recommend this book enough. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Love. Love. LOVE!

A successful house flipper and YouTuber, Maggie is taking her next project to Kinship, Idaho. Tackling the severely neglected Old Campbell Place, Silas Wright, owner of Bitterroot Landscapes, is hired to help. And listen, I typically roll my eyes at insta-love ... but Silas and his goofy, exaggerated flirting instantly won me over.

But despite his magnetic charm, Maggie attempts to ignore it—after all, she is only there for a job, never staying in one place long. With Maggie constantly overworking herself, easygoing Silas was the perfect person to gently nudge her towards balance and true happiness. I loved their quiet, tension-filled moments together.

As the two settle in with renovations, the house not only brings an adventurous mystery to the story but also an amazing example of found family. And look at that adorable pup on the cover! Kevin the naughty, burly pit bull was truly a highlight.

This book had so much to offer to readers and it fully delivered! I loved the main storyline and seeing Maggie in her element with the house, shooting the show, and working with her crew members. Maggie was so wonderful and I loved the connections she built with people and how she really found herself during the project. I also really enjoyed all the secondary storylines in this book. At first, I was a bit worried it would be a lot to follow and that it would maybe be too much for the author to tie up at the end, but Lucy Score’s writing is pure magic! I was so satisfied with how each piece of this story came together and the overall ending was so special! I loved the found family theme throughout and getting to know these characters so well. My favorite characters were Maggie, Kevin (!!), and Cody, but they were all so great! Silas and his furry companion make quite the entrance in this one to start this novel off with a bang and continued to win over my heart (and Maggie’s) during this fun romance! Score’s descriptive writing helped me to imagine the house and surrounding areas in the town which really helped to engross me in this story! So much to rave about with this one, it’s definitely a top read for 2022!

Thank you @readforeverpub for a copy of Maggie Moves On. If you are a fan of home improvement shows, a little mystery and a little bit of fate - this book is for you.

I adored this book so much. I love Silas and his determination to win over Maggie and his positive attitude. I love how the house played such a big role not only in Maggie's renovations but also the impact on the town of Kinship. All the supporting characters was amazing and I love the added element of a lost treasure.
